Finnigan didn’t skip a beat when he arrived today. Despite
spending a week with us, Finn was full of energy when here for daycare today.
He was absolutely thrilled to meet up with Pippin when he entered the yard.
Silly girl Pippin loves rolling around on her back in the snow and Finnigan
couldn’t have been happier to pounce all over while she was doing this. He
loved mouthing at her and she couldn’t have gotten enough of his endless
attention. After loads of playing together, Finnigan decided to take a breather
and do some sniffing. Upon his exploring, Finn came across our two new
bloodhound rescues Buck and Jake. Finn’s eyes lit up as if he had been
re-united with a long-lost friend. I knew right away he was thinking of Duke.
The entire period Buck and Jake were recovering I kept thinking of how excited
Finn would be to meet these two boys. I was pleased today when I found out they
could finally be in group with him. Finnigan instantly went back to wrestling
around with his new bloodhound friends just like he did with Duke. Finn loves
pulling on their ears and neck skin and the boys were so tolerant and pleased
with all the attention he was giving them. Their wrestling and rolling around
soon turned into a very fast paced race around the yard. The three boys really
powered through the snow, motoring at full speed across the yard. Before I knew
it, the entire group was in on the fun too. Finnigan couldn’t have been happier
to have all his mates racing around in the fresh snow with him. He was
exhausted by the time play time was over and he actually came in without
putting up a stink.
Tanner picked such a great day to come in for daycare. He
was so playful and energetic throughout the entire duration of his main play
group. Tanner found each dog wonderful in their own way, and was sure to play
with each dog for at least a short while. He was extra interested in Muggins, a
lovely young lab mix who is always spunky and full of positive energy. Tanner
had so much fun racing in circles around the agility tunnel trying to catch her
as well as trying to run away from her. Muggins caught him off guard a couple
of times by running through the tunnel and meeting him on the other end. This
surprised him each time and got him extra excited, making him either play bow
or run even faster. After numerous fun laps around with Muggins, Tanner met up
with daycare friend Finnigan as well as two of our rescues Buck and Jake for
some more fun. Tanner had a great time racing around the yard with these silly
boys which lead to some more tunnel shenanigans. He was pleasantly surprised to
be accompanied Kyah and Pippin at the tunnel who badly wanted to play with
Tanner. He was more than happy to give in to his request and the girls danced
around with Tanner for a while. Tanner didn’t stop moving the entire time he
was outdoors. He was play bowing to everyone as well as barking and bouncing to
me requesting myself to play. Tanner was also a big fan of all the snow today.
He loved to continuously bury his nose in the fresh powder and then dig about at
the same spot. Finally, when it was almost time to come indoors Nicki came out
in the yard and Tanner was thrilled. He jumped all over her and gladly accepted
some cuddles before it was time to come indoors.
Titan was so full of beans today! I haven’t seen him so
playful in quite some time. Titan was immediately fascinated by two lovely
huskies in his group; Skie and Jynxx. These young ladies are full of energy and
good looks. Titan picked up on their outgoing personalities very fast and began
racing around with them in a heart beat. Titan really can move fast, keeping up
to the athletic girls with no troubles. He loved looping around the yard with
them and even enjoyed following them through the tunnel. At one point, George
spotted the action and briefly tried to join in. I had to call him over to me
to prevent him from over doing himself. George was happy to head over to my
side and accept some pets and cuddles. He then stuck his nose to the ground and
did lots of sniffing around my feet. Titan soon joined George and the brothers
did loads of investigating of the deep snow before it was time to head back
indoors into their warm kennel.
I was so excited to come in after the weekend off and see
that Rupert will be spending some time with us. I always love having this
gentleman here. I can always count on Rupert to keep me company in the yard and
offer me lots of warmth on cold days like today. He didn’t fail to do so today,
nuzzling into my side for a large portion of his outdoor time. We had some great
snuggles together, he even offered me kisses. After he was happy with all the
pats and cuddles I gave him he stuck his nose to the ground and began
investigating the yard. Rupert thought there was so much to uncover under the
new fresh snow. HE loved burying his nose deep in the powder and then digging
at the same area to uncover more smells. This kept him pretty busy until it was
time to head back indoors where he happily got comfortable on his bed and cot
and had a nice snooze until his next outing.
Burrley and Ollie are quite the playful pair and I soon
found that out during their first outing with new friends in the yard. They
were excited to meet both Resa and Max who were just as eager to play! All of
this fresh white fluffy snow really had everyone zooming around the yard and
Burrley and Ollie were quite entertained as the two little ones sped in front
of them. Ollie especially loved little Max as he followed him endlessly around
the yard and gave him a few paws to the back to entice him to play. Burrley was
close by alongside Resa waiting for the right moment to join in. Soon enough
Resa started running laps around the yard and both Burrley and Ollie’s tails
and ears perked up in excitement and quickly joined in the chase. They also met
new faces Macaroni and Zoodles today and were very gentle with the little ones
and gave them a few sniffs and licks to the face. Needles to say it was an
exciting morning for these two pups and they had a good first playful round but
were just as excited for their next outing to see all of their new friends
again, but first some rest on their cozy beds.
Max and Sadie sure do love the fresh snow, so much so that
they didn’t waste any time rolling around and playing in the fresh mornings
batch. Today it was Sadie that started their usual morning wrestle, she is in
her element when it snows and chased Max around the yard to entice him to play.
Max didn’t need any enticing, he was just as ready to go as he howled and
charged right back after Sadie. Finally Sadie broke free and took a tiny rest
in a bed of snow to catch her breath, but not for long since Max thinks resting
is for the weak and got her right back up. Sadie ran straight into the agility
tunnel to take cover, her head poked out of the side with her tongue hanging
out in anticipation that Max was waiting for her. He sure was and chased her
right back through the other side of the tunnel. This back and forth chasing
went on for the rest of the morning as I stood by and chuckled to myself but
made sure to stay out of their way! When it was time to come back inside, my
boy Max happily followed me in but of course I knew Sadie would need some more
coaxing especially on a morning like this. With some hesitation she followed me
back in knowing it wouldn’t be long before they were back out doing it all over
again!
