Harlow and Rumple had another great day with us at Tails & Trails. Harlow was doing his usual meowing when I went in to let him out of his cubby for some play time. Rumple stayed curled up in his cozy bed, only moving to stretch, roll and curl up again. Harlow wanted to hop around every part of the room. He started under the cat tree, where he gave the post a good scratch. He then climbed up to the next level of the tree, where he could see Rumple all cozy in his bed. Harlow jumped from the tree into Rumple's cubby, and Rumple didn't even move! He stayed laying in his bed, looking at his silly brother. Harlow didn't stay long, and I went over to say hello to Rumple while watching Harlow make his way down towards the toy bin. Harlow carefully sniffed all of the toys in the basket, and eventually decided on the little red pompom, which seems to be his favourite. He also enjoyed playing with the catnip stuffed toy, and his rainbow toy. I brought Rumple down so he could watch Harlow play, but he decided after a minute of cuddles that he'd rather go back up to his bed for a snooze.
Sophie W headed out to the agility yard and immediately made her way over to where the rest of the group was congregating. She pushed her way into the group and said hello to everyone. When the group left the tunnel, Sophie stayed to give it a quick once over. With that done, she went trotting over to reunite with the group. Sophie's attention was then captured by Cai sniffing something along the fence-line. Curious, she decided to stick around and see where it led. Sophie ended up being the last of the group to still be tagging along after Cai, though Merida and Maya soon joined them. Sophie and Cai went all around the yard together. She did eventually grew bored and decided it was time for some running. Sophie took off, she was kind of bouncing and kind of running, either way she was having fun in the snow. It wasn't long before she had thrown herself to the ground and was rolling in the snow. When Sophie got up she looked quite pleased with herself. She then set out to do a little more exploring. Her journey eventually lead Sophie to another rolling spot.
Cai was so excited for it to be his turn for group. He went charging out the door and went out into the yard. Cai spotted the rest of the group hanging out by the tunnel and went to see what was going on. Once he'd seen everyone, he came over to me so say hi to me and get a quick pet. With that done Cai went trotting off to rejoin the group. Soon he had his nose to the ground following a scent. Some of the group branched off, but Bentley, Tonka, and Sophie decided to tag along after him. Eventually it was just Cai and Sophie with their noses to the ground determined to find something, or actually following a really interesting scent. Merida made her way over to see what they were up to, closely followed by Maya. Cai and Sophie ended up heading out to check out more of the yard together. Sophie then left so Cai continued on his own. Eventually he decided to take a break from exploring and made his way over to me for some more pets and attention. We caught the eye of Bentley, who made his way over to try and get Cai to play. He was soon successful and him and Cai were having a great time wrestling and goofing off.
Jemma went running out to the yard and immediately found herself being pounced on by Monty. Shortly after that Emma went running over to see what was going on. Jemma said hi to them both before running off to the far yard. She took a moment to do some exploring in the snow. When nothing really caught her attention, Jemma went off to see what Tennya was up to. Jemma and Tennya then went over to see what Monty was looking at. She spent some time hanging out with them while exploring in the snow. Tennya ended up wandering off to another part of the yard. Jemma watched her go, but decided not to follow. When she turned around she came face to face with Monty. He pounced on her once more and that was about all it took. Soon the two of them were having fun wrestling and running around. They were distracted from each other when Julie came tearing over to them, before tearing right back the way she came. Jemma watched her go, then went trotting after her with Tennya and Shelby. They ended up in the main yard. Jemma decided to go rooting around in the snow to see what she could find. It wasn't long before she was back in the far yard and running around with Emma, Monty, Charly, and Shelby. They were all having a blast playing together and in the snow.
Max and Sadie and were practically vibrating they were so excited to be heading outside for group time. They went charging out the door and ran a couple laps around the yard. Sadie soon had her nose buried in the snow looking for something interesting. Max wasn't quite ready to stop running and went running back and forth between Sadie and I. It wasn't long before Sadie gave up on her exploring and decided to go racing off with Max close on her heels. They went tearing out to the far yard where they were promptly distracted by the tunnel. Max and Sadie spent some time checking it over before moving on to other parts of the yard. Once the yard had been thoroughly looked over it was time to play some more. Max and Sadie started to wrestle, then went tearing off around the yard. They pretty spent the rest of the group time alternating between wrestling and racing around the yard. Max also took a couple breaks from Sadie to come over and get some pets from me.
Tsavo got to make some new friends today. As soon as she got out to the agility yard she found herself being checked over by Skie and Jynxx. Tsavo was a little unsure at first, but it wasn't long before she decided she rather liked them. The three of them started to bounce around and whack each other with their paws. Their antics took a brief break when Buck, Jake, and Korvo joined them to see what they were up to. Tsavo said hello, then turned her attention back to Skie and Jynxx. They were so fun to watch play. Duke ended up making his way back over to them. For the most part the girls all ignored him, but soon Tsavo took off running and the other three went chasing after her. After a couple laps Tsavo took a break from running. Skie and Jynxx then left to go and see what Nyxx was up to by the tunnel. Tsavo curious herself joined them. Soon they were all playing on and in the tunnel.
Jax L our lovable and big sweet Golden was ecstatic to meet daycare Husky pal Anja; he could immediately sense her fun loving energy and knew he was in for a good play. He was right, so much so that he barely had time to give me his usual attention and cuddles, he was way too busy with the ladies. Jax and Anja decided to wrestle with the energetic Pippin, another sweet Golden. The three of these pups were glued to one another as they rolled around and wrestled in the freshly fallen snow. Limbs were flying all over the place as Pippin rolled around on her back while Jax and Anja wrestled her from above in excitement. When Pippin would finally break free, she would run full speed towards the agility tunnel to take cover but Anja is fast and she was hot on her trail with silly Jax not far behind. When Pippin would stick her head out of the tunnel to see if the coast was clear, this only got Anja and Jax more excited as they tried their best to catch her! Anja took a quick break from the wrestle and was curious to meet Bridie and the two of them had a little wrestle and this gave Jax a chance to break free and run towards me with that infamous smile of his that we all know and love!
Next up was a small but very fun small-dog group that included two of our favourite bull dogs named Jax and Winston. Jax has been loving his stay with us and he sure does know how to keep us entertained! At this moment he is actually spending some time in the grooming salon where he is enjoying a nice warm bubble bath, a perfect end to his stay with us. Earlier this morning, he ran out his energy by playing his usual round of ball in the far yard. Little Cara, another ball obsessed pooch sure did keep Jax on his toes however, because she was determined to steal the famous red ball away from him. Jax guarded that ball with his life as he tried to bark her away, but Cara wasn't giving up and soon enough her patience paid off because she was able to snatch the ball away when Jax momentarily let his guard down! Jax wasn't too impressed with that move but Cara was pretty proud of herself and spent the rest of the morning prancing around with the ball in her mouth, no way she was letting go of it now! Brodie thought it was fairly amusing to watch the ball-war between his sister and Jax, but he is a social boy so he didn't waste too much time hanging around, he had friends to sniff and laps to run! He met back up with his sister towards the end of group and followed behind her into their warm kennel where they enjoyed an afternoons rest together!
Last but certainly not least was our big dog group and when I say big I mean friendly giants! Duke the gentleman is one of those friendly giants and boy was he in the cuddling mood today! Some days he loves to run around the yard and take a peek out of the fence to see if his humans were there but he must have been enjoying himself today because he spent a good chunk of his time nudging my knees for attention and weaving in and out of my legs. He was also very playful and enjoyed teasing and wrestling around with best pal, Gryphon. He also enjoyed seeing an old friend Teddy who was in for daycare today and Teddy loved hanging out with all the big folk. He was the main source of entertainment for the gang as he went into herding mode and started running laps around them, poor Sophie was confused and barked as she tried to keep her eyes on him as he zoomed around! Teddy was much too quick as the others tried to keep up with him and this made him very proud as he stuck his tongue out in amusement! Duke came up to the reception area this afternoon to spend some one-on-one time with Alyssa. He was happy to receive lots of pets and cuddles, as well as a couple of yummy treats. Duke is such a cuddly boy, and is probably the biggest "lap dog" that I know!
