Polly found a treasure this morning in the yard and this set her mood for the entire play group. The fabulous half bone that was discovered under the snow was so hard for her to resist. She ended up snagging it away from puppy Vega after a huge chase around the yard. Polly was thrilled with herself for snagging the bone from the little devil. Vega wasn’t going to let it go that easily and raced after Polly as fast as she could. The pair did laps and laps around the yard, zipping through the tunnel and around the other obstacles in the yard trying to out run one another. After endless amount of racing the duo forgot what they were even chasing after and realized the bone was long gone, in playmate Jake’s mouth. They quickly forgot about the bone and continued playing on their own. Muggins wasn’t far behind the pair quickly joining in on their shenanigans with ease. These three are a great trio, all very outgoing young girls with loads of energy. They raced around the yard occasionally pouncing on top of each other and dragging one another down to the ground. They all loved rolling around in the snow while the others were bouncing on top of them and pulling at their ears and necks. This game never got old and soon involved their other group mates like the blood hounds and huskies. Polly had so much fun throughout her entire duration of morning play. When it was time to go in she didn’t hesitate at all as she was looking forward to resting her eyes for a moment it seemed.

Maya was rather energetic today compared to her normal self. I suspect the fresh snow gave her some motivation to run around and be silly. After nosing out the gravel yard Maya happily made her way into the normal grass yard and quickly picked up the pace and began some self-induced zoomies. It didn’t take her group mates long to be hot on her heels. Max, Coco and Timbits were thrilled to see miss Maya zipping around the yard bouncing over the fresh snow with her ears flapping in the wind. Timbits especially was so fast to follow Maya, leading her to run even faster. Coco wasn’t going to let her brother get far from her without being included in the games too. I was so pleased to see Coco and Timbits so full of beans despite the snow and cold. Timmy never fails to join in on the fun but sometimes it takes a little bit of convincing for Coco to get going on these chilly days. Maya was the perfect bundle of energy for the two beagle siblings, leading them into full on wrestling and running. This trio became fast friends doing endless speedy laps around the yard. Julie tried very hard to join in on the fun too, not letting her wheelchair slow her down. Timmy was very polite to her, play bowing and dancing all around her. Coco wasn’t too sure about her brother playing with another dog and was quick to maul him and pin him to the ground. This got Maya very excited sending her flying across the yard in search of another chase. This small group of friends kept at their games for the whole duration of their morning play group. They couldn’t have been more ready to head back indoors and snuggle up on their cozy bedding when their outdoor time was up.

Rocky and Lola were pretty pleased to have one another’s company on this snowy day. Both Rocky and Lola think the young playful pups are way too much for them. They much prefer to hang out in the gravel yard where they can sniff and explore without the hassle of being asked to play with. Rocky succeeded in that today while Lola was invited to play by Max. Max was so silly bouncing all around her that she even gave in for a brief moment. Her playing only lasted a short while before she realized that Rocky was on his own sniffing. She quickly made her way to his side to keep him company in a calm relaxed area of the yard until it was time to head in. Both Rocky and Lola were please with their kennels today as we piled up comfy blankets for them. Lola loves to snuggle into her cot while Rocky has his sister Maya to cozy in to.

Miko was absolutely thrilled to return after his week break. Miko didn’t stop moving from the second he got outside. He was sprinting around the yard before any of the dogs had even gotten outdoors, running solo laps around the main yard waiting for the arrival of his mates. As they slowly made their way into the big yard where they wanted to sniff and explore, Miko continued to dance and prance around the yard with his ears flapping in the wind. Finally, group mate Max decided he would play along. Max and Miko were a great pair, both very outgoing agile boys who love a good chase and wrestle. After numerous laps around the yard on oen another’s toes, they broke off to sniff and explore. While Miko was investigating the yard he came across his good buddy Pearl. Pearl was very excited, more than usual, to see her buddy, potentially because he wasn’t here last week. The two hit it off right away and got up to their usual games. Max soon joined in the usual duo quickly turned into a trio. These three had bundles of fun looping around the yard together while mouthing at one another and bouncing all over each other. Timbits wasn’t far behind them, making this trio become a great group of friends. They continued to romp around the yard with big smiles on their faces and their tails wagging, enjoying every last minute of the fun in the snow.

Max and Sadie knew something was up when they arrived this morning and their bed came with them. The pair was thrilled to have their comfy cloud bed accompany them in their special kennel. The moment I placed it down Max plopped himself right on it, smiling up at me with a look of content. It didn’t take Sadie long to join him, soon making the bed for one a great bed for two. These two are so cute when they cuddle up on the same bed; it seems to be a regular routine for them. In the yard it was just like any other day. They started off by sniffing and exploring and this came to an end when Max charged Sadie looking for a play. She was happy to give in to the request, setting the duo off for a long game of running and wrestling. They took turns leading and chasing as well as being the tackler and the tackelee. Their games lasted for quite some time and to their surprise I let them continued to play until they wanted to come in. Normally Sadie puts up a bit of a stink, however today I gave them extra time outdoors which resulted in her leading me to the door! Maybe I’ll take this as a hint and continue to give them more time so that I don’t have to play silly games with miss Sadie each time I want her to come indoors, although she is very cute when she rolls on her back requesting belly rubs.

Boris and Tasha were excited to see bestest Husky pals Justice and Kyah bright and early out in the yard this morning. When these four Husky pups get together, you are certainly in for a good and playful time. Everyone quickly made their usual rounds of the yard in anticipation for the first play. It was Justice who started the chase and sure enough Boris was hot on his trail. All this excitement had the golden girls Charly and Merida joining in and the whole group of them ran back and forth in the yard and in and out of the agility tunnel. Boris, much like Kyah loves to jump up on the tunnel and tease everyone from above and this really gets the playful energy flowing. Boris broke free from the pack to wrestle with Charly who was guarding the bone but she couldn’t resist a good play with this silly boy. These two literally flew in the air as they chased and wrestled one another all morning long. Kyah and Tasha decided to take a front row seat and plunked their bums in the snow to watch. However Tasha didn’t have much time to rest when little Merida came up and gave her the ultimate play bow as an invitation to play. Merida just loves Tasha and followed her endlessly around the yard but Tasha sure loves the attention and these two were caught nuzzling noses like the best friends they are; quite the popular pair Boris and Tasha are! Something must have been in the air this beautiful snowy morning because the usually reserved Mocha was just full of beans! She busted out the doors alongside sister Issy and ran straight into the agility yard without a care in the world. It was the snow that always has this girl excited and we all know how much she loves to roll around on her back and Mocha did just that with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth. She had so much energy that she made her way over to pal Justice next and pawed at him to play! The two of them had a little wrestle and it was so nice to see Mocha just vibrating with all that playful energy. Issy on the other hand never has much time to play, she is always too busy exploring and sniffing out the yard. I swear she sniffs that yard from top to bottom and doesn’t miss an inch including the top of the rocks and in and around the agility tunnel! Looks like both girls were busy this morning and were happy to come back inside for a treat and a rest together.

George and Titan were out next and were joined by good friends Rupert and Riley. Titan and Rupert were especially playful this morning and were happy to have husky ladies Jynxx and Skie around to keep them entertained. These ladies led the pack around the yard and Titan chased them endlessly and jumped up on to their back to entice them to play. Riley wasn’t far behind but soon realized that they were much too quick for him to keep up with. He eventually made his way over to me and took a seat by my feet and handed me his paw on my lap as an invitation for me to starting petting. He could have stayed with me all morning long as I scratched his head but his group of friends looked like they were having too much fun without him and enticed him away again. While Titan was running around and playing to his little hearts content, brother George looked like he was off on his own mission with his nose buried to the ground as he sniffed away. He would only momentarily look up when I called his name and gave me that clever smile of his as if he was guilty of something. It was hard to pull Titan away from all of the fun but next up these two brothers had their extra attention time up front; their favorite part of the morning! Rupert was also out with this group in the yard this morning and that meant that I would have a fetch partner to keep me company all morning long. Rupert ran into the yard and found the big jolly ball; although it is big, Rupert managed to get his mouth around it and carried it over to me only to drop it at my feet. Off Rupert would leap into the air as I threw it over and over again. If my attention momentarily left from the game, Rupert would stand by my feet and bark at me until I threw it again for him! He wanted to make sure I didn’t forget about him but how could I forget about this sweet boy and his even sweeter smile. When it was time for everyone to pile back inside, I soon realized that Rupert didn’t come in with them. I went back out and found him lounging in the snow in the warmest spot where the sun was shining. Back inside he went but not for long until he had his extra attention time then back outside again with his favorite ball!

Rupert is such a sweet boy, spending extra one on one time with him is a pleasure. Rupert is always thrilled to run up the hall, knowing he gets to sniff around the reception area and greet the staff. Like usual he was quick to find his favourite red ball. He is great at retrieving the ball, even though I doubt him sometimes. Occasionally he will wait for the ball to be a centimeter away from his face before he opens wide and snatches it up. We had endless fun bouncing the ball all over and tossing it around the room. After plenty of fetch and retrieval Rupert happily made himself comfortable with me on the front chair. He nuzzled right into my side and began pushing his bum against me asking for some scratches and cuddles. He was happy to receive endless amounts of bum rubs and ear scratches before sitting and enjoying one another company before it was time to head back.
