Jax was pretty excited to make his way up to front playroom for his extra attention. As soon as he got through the door he laid eyes on the big Kong. Jax quickly decided that was what he wanted to play with. He started to bat it around and ended up knocking it under the couch. Jax then stood barking at it before turning to bark at me, letting me know I needed to get the toy back. I fished it out and gave it back to him. Jax went to batting it around again while occasionally bringing it over to me to give it a toss. Eventually he got tired of the toy and came over for some pets and cuddles.

Jax had a wonderful morning hanging out with some of his favourite pals and was pleasantly surprised by the somewhat warmer weather. He was quite busy this morning and enjoyed every minute of it; after his morning trail walk he was whisked away for his extra attention in the front playroom and had a blast bunting balls around with his head. The fun continued out in the yard where he was surrounded with good friends including little Miko and Dugan. Jax headed straight out into the far yard where he knew the red ball was waiting and he wanted to get there first before Dugan had a chance too. Well unfortunately for Jax, Dugan beat him as he happily pranced around with the ball in his mouth. Jax didn’t find that very funny and he charged and barked around the yard until Dugan let go of the ball. Finally the glorious red ball was his to play with and he pushed that ball around as hard as he could with his strong head. After a few rounds of fetch, I left Jax with the ball so I could catch up with some of the other pups but he didn’t like that I walked away. I could hear him all the way in the far yard barking with the ball secured below his belly in protest. Needless to say, Jax got his way and I quickly ran back to throw the ball for him again.

Dugan the sweet little guy kept me company most of the morning; he is such a curious little fellow and always wanted to know what I was up too. He spotted out the red ball first and foremost and had a good play while kicking up the snow behind him as he chased the ball. Even though Jax stole and hoarded the ball most of the morning, Dugan was a good sport and kept close by in the event Jax let the ball go and he had a chance to swoop in. Well as you can imagine Dugan never did get that ball back but he was more than happy trying and even more pleased to have silly daycare guest Miko keep him company as they ran circles around the yard together! Keegan on the other hand still thought it was too chilly to do much playing and unlike his little brother Dugan he hung out close to the door and kept warm with some of the others including little Resa and Julie. He liked meeting all of the friendly faces today and made sure to nuzzle noses as they passed by, but the moment I came close to the door, he would bark and jump up on his hind legs in excitement! It wasn’t that cold! These pups just prefer their warm cozy beds and who could blame them!

Miko, on the other hand, is one of those pups that could spend his whole morning outside and this little trickster knows how to make the most fun out of his time. Miko is always up to something let me tell you, whether he’s running laps around the yard or chasing other pups, he really knows how to get the energy flowing in his groups. He is also very suspicious of you, thinking that he will be forced to go back inside at any moments notice so when I call his name over to play, he immediately looks up at me and darts the other way. Don’t worry Miko, you have plenty of time to run and bark and chase. He was very excited to have little Dugan as his partner in crime this morning since he was one of the only pups to give him the attention he wanted; they endlessly chased one another around Jax and this just made Jax bark in song! I knew Miko would be tired after his group and he even willingly came inside for an afternoons rest!

Pippin was also in for daycare today and ready to get his day started with his morning trail walk. I think that walk really tired him out and he was just about ready for a nap by the time we came back inside! I carried him for the last stretch of the walk to give his little legs a break and boy did he love that as he showered me with kisses. I think it was all a ploy for some extra attention as he laid flat in the snow in protest until I came to pick him up and sure enough he was perky then! His perkiness continued out in the yard, especially when he saw his best pal Jasper out in the yard. These two boys share a special bond and their little bums wagged in excitement when they spotted one another out there today. Pippin was also excited to see Jersey, an older gal but still young at heart! Pippin greeted Jersey with a nuzzle to the nose and Jersey loved the attention and immediately dropped down into a play bow to greet little Pippin. Although Jersey might have limited sight, that didn’t stop her from exploring the yard and greeting all of the other pups. In fact she found a friend in Kouza who is another older lady with limited sight but just as spunky and gentle as Jersey. Jersey had a great day with us and loved all of the new friends she met and attention she got from all of our staff!

Syrus was so full of energy today! He couldn’t have been happier to partake in a group with his great buddies Riley and Dushka. This pair kept him on his toes throughout his entire time outside. Syrus was also very content to meet a new dog named Caesar. Caesar is such a big, handsome boy but is an absolute gentle giant. Syrus followed Caesar around for a while, patiently waiting for their friendship to take off. Finally, Caesar turned and danced around with Syrus inviting him to play. The duo then set off on a fast-paced chase around the yard. It wasn’t long before their team of two turned into a whole mob of dogs springing around the yard. Syrus was pleased to be apart of all the action. He couldn’t get enough of Caesar and was happy to begin playing around with Zak, Riley, and Korvo too. Dushka wasn’t far behind these antics and quickly the five dogs began romping around with one another. It was a lot of fun to watch them dance and prance around with each other, not afraid to play rough and enjoying every minute of it. Syrus was smiling from ear to ear throughout his whole playgroup, letting his tongue slip out the side of his mouth occasionally.

Max and Sadie impress me more and more everyday. Consistently training these two makes such a difference in their everyday behaviour. Max is an absolute genius, the Einstein of dogs. He is so aware of me and what I want from him and he will never disappoint, always looking to please me and do whatever I request. He has gotten so good at coming to me when I said “Max, here” no matter what he is doing. I was working on no rough play today and he came to me when called over and over despite his sister tackling him. He doesn’t even wait for me to ask him to sit anymore, he plops his bum on the ground right away and looks up at me with his ears back and his tail wagging. I love rewarding Max with a great kiss and cuddle, which he really appreciates. Sadie is doing well too, however she is a bit more stubborn than her brother. Sadie does need reminders to come when called but she is picking up on it as the days continue. Sadie is finally responding in a less dramatic way when her playtime is done. She only lies down for a bit and then she stands up upon request rather than rolling on her back. I love working with these two so much. They warm my heart everyday, I love them.

Duke is hilarious in the yard. He is such a fan of the fresh snow. Lucky for him there is some fresh stuff left along the perimeter of the yard. He wasn’t afraid to search it out and plop himself down in a nice pile of cold powder. Duke enjoyed snacking on the cool snow for a while. After some convincing he hopped up and made his way to my side. I was happy to have his warm body nuzzle up against my side. Duke was very happy to have me cuddling him and giving him loads of pets. He was very appreciative of the side pats and head rubs. His friends came over for some attention too which is when he set off to explore the yard. While exploring Duke met up with a lovely boy Tattoo. These two were silly when introducing themselves to one another. They bounced around each other then brushed against each others sides. Finally they play bowed and did a brief dance around the yard. Duke was so happy to have briefly danced around with a friend that he went looking for more dogs to play with. He tried getting Sophie to play but she wasn’t too sure about his antics. Duke settled down and made his way back to my side where he looked for some more attention. He was more than ready for his extra attention time this afternoon. I opened his kennel door and he sprinted to the front before I could even make it down the hall. He exuberantly bounced from one room to the other to see what he could find. After lots of exploring he settled down by the desk with me. I showed him every toy in our toy box and although he seemed interested in every single one I showed to him, he didn't actually want to play. I filled the kong with some treats and he quickly figured out how to get the treats out, but the silly boy just left them all over the floor. So I searched my brain to see what else I could get Duke to do and decided to try some peanut butter in the kong. Boy was he excited about that. He pushed the kong around the room with his nose until he got every little bit of the yummy peanut butter out.

Percy was so happy to be back with us after his week break. He couldn’t have been happier to see me approach his kennel with a leash in hand. Percy was ready to get hooked up and out for his walk. Percy and his husky friend, Isis, led the way pulling full speed ahead while Sky walked by my side. Percy had his nose to the ground as he tugged me along the trail. I enjoyed walking at the fast pace, it kept me nice and warm. In the yard Percy was very quick to get in on the action going on between the huskies and bloodhounds in his group. Percy was very firm with his herding, letting his mates know what they should and shouldn’t be doing. His friends weren’t too receptive of his requests, continuing to wrestle and box even though he was looping them endlessly while barking. I finally distracted Percy with a great toy, which kept him busy for a while. Percy and I played numerous rounds of fetch in the deep snow. He was happy to have Glory racing after him trying to snatch the toy. She did get it from him, leading him back to his husky friends. Percy then enjoyed some fast paced racing around the yard. He tried his hardest to get in the lead but his agile friends stayed ahead of the entire race. Percy was so happy with all the games he got to partake in today, he was happy to nap between his groups to regain energy for his next outings.

Boris and Tasha were thrilled to be apart of the group that had Glory, Ricky and Wally in it today. Wally and Ricky really love Boris, which is so much fun to watch. They met up instantly and didn’t leave each others sides throughout their whole time outdoors. Boris really lets these boys take charge of him. He seems to enjoy playing the victim despite his obvious strength. Wally and Ricky had so much fun wrestling around with Boris all throughout the yard. The boys enjoyed meeting up at the tunnel and leaping back and forth over top of it trying to get a better angle to pounce from. Boris couldn’t get enough of the attention and continuously nagged them for more games to begun. Of course Tasha had to get involved and let the boys know that their playing was very rough and she should be the one in charge. When she got involved it only got the boys more motivated to race and play. This set off a giant chase, sending the 4 of them bounding across the yard with Glory, Riley and Percy on their tails. This herd of dogs ran around the yard so fast, looping around kennels, rocks, tunnels and gates at very fast speeds. It was great fun to watch. They finally stopped racing, to catch their breath, only to start another wrestling and boxing match. Boris and Tasha continued this until they were out of breath, rolling on their backs looking for a break. The pair was happy to come indoors and snooze in their warm kennel until their next outing came around.
