Jake was quite the character today. The second he got outside he began dancing all around me, excited to re-unite with me. We had a good cuddle session before he took off looking for a playmate. He was thrilled to find Pelley who also loves to bounce and run. They frolicked around the yard until Pelley leapt up on the table, which confused Jake. He took off into the gravel yard looking for his sister. After they caught up with one another, he broke off again looking for some fun. Flora the Jack Russell was very smitten with Jake. She danced all around him and even got up on her hind legs to paw at him. Jake loves any attention from a girl, so he danced back. Their fun and games got the attention of Bruno and Pelley, and soon the four of them were dancing around. It was great fun to watch before they took off across the yard setting out for a chase. Bella briefly got involved in the chase, mostly because she wanted to look out for Jake. As soon as her paws got wet, she turned around and headed back to the dry portion of the yard. Bella was happy to hang out with the other neat and tidy dogs in the gravel yard for the most part today. She enjoyed some love and attention from me before she decided to head indoors for a snooze before her walk.

Coco and Timbits are always excited to get here in the morning. They dance their little bums down the hall, stopping to sniff anything appealing that they pass by. The duo loved having the big kennel today. There was lots of room for Timbits to continually ask Coco to play in between their outdoor time. Outside Timbits was pretty happy to let his nose lead him around. He spent his whole time outside marching all around the yard, tracing his way along all the scents. Timbits isn’t afraid to get his paws a little dirty to pick up as many smells as he can. Coco on the other hand was very sure to not leave the dry gravel today. She refused to come into the grass yard. She was much happier with her clean and tidy friends. Coco enjoyed their company for the majority of her outdoor time. She danced around with Bruno and Flora for a little bit, as well as gnawed on a bone for a while. She was happy to come indoors and nap before her walk, where she trotted along the trail with a smile on her face.

Bruno was a happy little guy today. He was mostly focused on me, and all the attention he could receive. He circled around my feet endlessly until I knelt down and gave him a good cuddle. Luckily I was wearing splash pants, as these little boys paws were very muddy. He hopped up onto my lap and offered me bundles of wet smooches. All the love he was getting drew the attention of Jake and TImbits. Bruno was happy to leap off of me to hang out with them. He did a couple laps around the yard with them before meeting up with Pelley for a play. Bruno only played for a bit today, as he was very focused on all the smells under the grass along the perimeter of the yard. He marched along the fence with his little bum wiggling and his nose to the ground trying his hardest to pick up on all the smells. When it was time to come indoors, Bruno fired through the doors so fast he slid down the hall. I had a good laugh watching him put the brakes on to prevent him from sliding into the door at the opposite end.

Pelley is the sweetest little lady ever. I was thrilled to arrive yesterday morning and see that she would be staying with us for a while. She is always so eager to get out in the yard and begin buzzing around. Pelley thoroughly enjoys standing on things, like the boulders, the picnic table and even the tunnel if she’s feeling confident in her balance. While her friends play around, she likes to watch from the table getting a good birds eye view of the action. When the timing is right, Pelley will leap off and join in on the fun. Today she was particularly fond of Jake the mini doodle. She flirted with him a lot trying to get him to play. When he finally gave in to her, they set off on a speedy chase around the yard. Pelley was flinging mud all around with her feet as she zoomed around. After some fast fun, she stopped to start a boxing match. Pelley loved all the attention she was getting from her buddy Jake, and also Bruno and Timbits. The three had bundles of fun before it was time to head indoors for a break before their mid morning walk.
For her extra attention time, Pelley was a busy busy girl. She headed up to the playroom ready to explore. She kept her feet and nose busy by trotting around the room and hopping on and off the couch. With all the water in the yard Pelley has given herself quite the hair-do. Her beard was sticking out every which way and I could barely see her eyes for pictures! I got her attention with some yummy liver treats which she of course sat nicely for. She did some more exploring around the room before settling on the couch beside me for some cuddles. She used her clever nose to sniff out a lonely piece of liver in my pocket that I had missed earlier.

Oakley was happy to be out in the yard with all of her husky friends once again. The girls had a lot on their minds and didn’t pay too much attention to Oakley, but she was sure to get involved in their shenanigans. Oakley loves the attention that puppy Vega has to offer her. Although she sticks her nose up at Vega, as soon as Vega moves on Oakley trots after her looking for more. She was excited to meet miss Jemma today too. Jemma usually comes in for Thursday daycare, but had a nice day with us this Wednesday. Oakley followed the young girl around with her tail wagging and ears perked. When Jemma gave her the time of day, the pair danced back and forth and had a brief boxing match. Oakley enjoyed her easy going, outgoing personality. Of course, Oakley was sure to hang out with Kyah and do nothing by her side. This pair sat in the mud, side by side, with their noses in the air sniffing the breeze. After some convincing they made their way to the tunnel where they could stay a little bit cleaner. They enjoyed each other’s company on the table along with other husky friends Skie and Aurora, as well as miss Jemma.

Max and Sadie aren’t too sure about the change in season. The pair seem to be a tad doubtful before heading out for their outings. I’m unsure if it’s because they’re worried it’s raining, or aren’t keen on getting their paws dirty. After that initial hesitation, it doesn’t take much to get the duo out the door and running around. Max loves racing after me while I loop around the yard like a crazy lady, while Sadie stands backs and supervises. Sadie was sure to stand on just about everything she possibly could today. After perching up on her favourite rock, she made her way to the picnic table. As soon as she got onto the table Max knocked her right off, sending her over to another rock. She hid behind the tunnel on this rock, keeping a close eye on Max. She was very aware that he was ready to pounce on her at any minute. He did try to get her playing, but didn’t have much success. He ended up looping back and forth through the tunnel, showing off for his sister and myself. The duo spent a lot of time sniffing and exploring. We had a nice team cuddle at the end of their outdoor time. We then enjoyed some time in the indoor playroom, where the pair was much friskier and more playful.

I can’t believe today is Chloe’s last day at Tails & Trails! Her stay has flown by so quickly. She made the best of her day today, as usual. Chloe ran the opposite direction from all of her friends when we first went out into the yard, because she saw a blue Frisbee that had been MIA for a while. She bolted towards it and pawed at the ground, trying to pick it up. I ushered the rest of the group into the grassy yard while Chloe was still trying to pick up the Frisbee. I showed her that there were other toys where the rest of her friends were and she gladly followed me through the gate. Chloe spent some time running around the yard with the red ball in her mouth, until she happened upon the Jolly Ball, an all time favourite. Chloe picked it up, leaving the red ball behind. Suddenly, the rest of the group broke out into a full on chase around the yard, so Chloe joined in with the Jolly Ball still in her mouth! She barked and pounced along with the others, all the while holding onto her treasure. After many laps around the yard, Chloe went to find yet another toy. The pink Frisbee was hiding in the puddle, and Chloe was very determined to get it out. She had a little bit of help from her group-mates. But ultimately grabbed it from the water before anyone else could. After lots of playtime, Chloe was ready for her walk. She and two other friends moseyed around the front field with me in tow, and was more than happy to lay down for a little rest when we got back.

Bella was as happy as ever to see her boyfriend Justice out in the yard today! She waltzed right up to him and pawed his back playfully. He was in the middle of sniffing the edge of the tunnel, so Bella decided to follow suit and have a sniff around, too. Once they were both finished, Bella decided to walk around the yard and watch the other dogs as they ran by. Bella caught wind of a particularly good scent through the fence and put her nose up to the wind to get a better sniff. She stood at the edge of the fence for a while, feeling the breeze on her face. Bella then spotted Justice hanging out over by the door to inside, and ran straight over to him, and placed a playful paw on his back. They bounced around together for a little while until the group chase resumed, and Bella decided to try her paw in the running. After morning group, Bella, a golden retriever friend, and her fellow Wednesday daycare pal, Oakley all went for a trail walk together led by Leah. After a little rest, she was ready to head back out into the yard this afternoon!

Kane, Kane, Kane. What a goofball. From the moment we arrived this morning, Kane was wagging with excitement, as usual. He wiggled his way down the hall and made sure to greet all of the lovely ladies in the neighbouring kennels. During his first outing, Kane zipped back and forth in the smaller yard, saying hello to everyone along the way. It wasn’t until later on in the morning that he got full range to run in the bigger, grassy (muddy) yard. Kane met back up with some old friends, including Justice and Finnigan in his group today, but also made a very good new friend! Max the doodle was the perfect match for Kane’s speed and agility while maneuvering around the yard. It took one look for the boys to know that they were going to be playing together non-stop. Kane led the way, with Max flying around behind him, trying his best to keep up. The pair whipped by me and each time left me with new sprays of mud on my jacket and even on my face! They stopped only to wrestle for a quick second, or to recruit new friends to join in on the big chase. Soon, Kane, Max, Bella, Magic, Chloe and the rest of the bunch were all flying around too fast for me to even take a picture! After a little rest time, Kane was ready to get up and at it again, this time out on the walking trail. He and his new friend, Augie made a lovely pair and enjoyed the fresh air along the trail. We watched Julie roll down the driveway beside us as we made our way back around the loop and inside for another little rest time before afternoon groups.

We were lucky this week because Jemma came in for an extra daycare day today! She went out with two groups, the first with Leah and some fun friends, and the second with myself and another lovely group of playful dogs. Jemma was full of beans when it was time to head out into the yard, and she didn’t mind the mud and puddles one bit! She even hopped into the little green pool, even though the only water inside was from the puddle next to it. Jemma went around the yard saying hello to me and all of the other dogs one at a time. She met up with Justice, Magic and Kane first, who were each very busy either sniffing or running around the yard. She made her way over to Molly next, but she was trying to bury her ball in the mud puddle like a golden retriever does, so Jemma came to see me instead. She happily accepted some pets for a few minutes, until Bella came trotting over to say hello, too. Jemma and Bella sniffed each others’ ears and wagged their tails very happily as they said their greetings. After a little while the other dogs really started to get running around, and Jemma couldn’t help but join in the fun! She went back to her kennel for a little rest before walk time rolled around, and she, Justice and Merida made a great walking team.

I was glad to see Finnigan join the group out in the yard this morning! He came in a little bit later than usual, and so had to get right down to business with his friends and toys. Finnigan was happy to see a few of his regular Wednesday daycare friends, such as Bella and Kane, but was also excited to meet some new ones, like Jemma who is usually here on Thursdays. Finnigan said quick hellos to everyone before finding himself a nice toy to show off to the others. Finn’s toy of choice was the pink Frisbee, which Chloe had buried in the puddle earlier during group time. This made a fun game for Finn, though and he spent some time getting his paws muddy while trying to pick it up. After he freed the toy from the puddle, Finn noticed that Kane and his doodle buddy were racing around the yard and he just had to go and join in!

Pretty Poppy had another great day today! She did a little bit of everything: relaxing, playing and exploring. She was very excited to meet a new friend this morning, a Golden retriever named Sophie. Poppy rushed over to greet her, giving her a good sniff all over to get better acquainted. Once she was sure she liked Sophie, Poppy moved on to saying hello to all of the other friends she’d seen earlier this morning. Poppy certainly likes Duke the big German Shepherd, and said a proper hello to him. She seemed to be feeling frisky, and pounced around her big friend for a few minutes. Poppy then saw that I was opening the gate into the grassy part of the yard, and she didn’t waste a second before running over to explore the new area. Her friends were very full of beans, and Poppy couldn’t miss out on some fun play time! She watched as the other dogs ran circles around the yard, splashing through the puddles as they went. When the crowd got close to Poppy, she would play-bow and pounce towards them! In between spurts of play, Poppy enjoyed some special pets from me, until it was time to go back inside and relax on her comfy bed. Walk time came up next, and Poppy walked like a very good girl alongside her doodle friend, Finnigan.

Big Man Duke was ready for another day of fun! He was full of positive energy right from the moment he got up this morning. Duke was more than happy to get up and stretch his legs before breakfast time, and even happier still when it was time to play a little bit later on. Duke met up with his black lab friend, Spencer, who he likes very much. Duke walked around the yard with him for a while, sniffing the same things that Spencer sniffed along the way. Suddenly, though the rest of the group started to run around in big circles, and Duke couldn’t help but go over and join in the fun! He bounced around with Sophie the Golden, Kai the Bernese and Spencer, of course. When he decided to take a little rest time, Duke went over to say hello to Poppy the little Boston Terrier. He finds her quite intriguing and spent a little time with her. After groups were up, Duke enjoyed a trail walk alongside his friends Chloe the boxer and Tatoo the spaniel. All in all, Duke had an action-packed day!
Late this afternoon Duke and Leah headed into the playroom for his extra attention time. Leah brought some of Duke's own special treats with her and the two settled down for some one-on-one time, which involved treats, pets and play. Duke, funny boy, suddenly decided that he wanted all of his treats and stole the bag off the half wall. He carried them around like a toy while Leah laughed and tried to get them back. Finally she had to take them right out of the room so Duke could once again concentrate on some cuddles. Duke said hello to some guests who were in the reception area on his way out for an extra walk and sniff out front. When he came in it was almost time for dinner.

It was so lovely to see Sophie walk through the door this morning! This girl is always brimming with positive energy, no matter which group she winds up with. Sophie was greeted by all of her new friends in the yard right away, and Poppy the Boston terrier was especially smitten with her. Poppy and Sophie spent some time dancing around together before making their way out to see the rest of the dogs. Sophie took a minute to look at her surroundings before a burst of energy overcame her! She ran like a gazelle in big circles around the yard, which encouraged her friends to follow suit. Soon enough, Sophie was leading the way for a great big game of chase! She’s the funniest girl to watch as she runs, because if she sees a toy that she might like, she dips her head down and scoops the toy up and continues on her way without skipping a beat! Sophie did this with a few different toys as she ran around, first with the pink Frisbee, then with the red ball. After many laps, Sophie geared down a little bit and took a little time to relax. She went over to the fence and looked out into the field beyond, holding her head and nose up high to catch all of the smells. She came to see me, of course, and I gave her lots of good scratches and pets!

After spending lots of time relaxing yesterday, Kai was ready for some play time today! She wandered out into the yard at first, taking it easy and saying hello to her new group members. Kai came to see me for a snuggle, too, until she saw Sophie the Golden flying around the yard! She watched as a few of the others joined in, and waited until they ran past to hop in on the action. Kai play-bowed and pounced on Sophie, Duke and Poppy each time they came near. It’s always great to see Kai’s playful side! After group time, Kai enjoyed a walk with her friends Spencer and Chloe, followed by some extra attention time. Kai bounced her way up the hall right into the playroom for her extra attention. She hopped around me in anticipation for treats and cuddles. I gave her a couple liver treats for being cute and then made her work for it. She showed off her sit and paw like a pro. It took a little convincing to get her to lay down, but with the right encouragement she eventually did. Next I thought if she if she would roll over for me. She would lie in her side with her nose following the treat and then give up, jumping up into a sit asking for the treat nicely. Silly girl. After a few more treats she settled down beside me for some cuddles and belly rubs.
