I myself haven’t seen Max and Sadie for a
little while so I was very excited to see them. I think they were both pretty
excited to see me too because Max nearly head butted me as he jumped up to give
me a kiss and Sadie ran right over with her tail wagging to give me one as
well. When it was time for their group time, I decided to bring the two of them
outside and onto the back forest trail instead of into the yard. I could tell
that Max and Sadie were excited to see where we were going. Max had his nose on
the ground while curiously sniffing the path. I think they might have been
confused because they already had their long walk this morning. Once we got
onto the back trail, Sadie couldn’t have been happier. She started sniffing
every tree and bush that we passed by. She mostly stayed on the path but Max
wasn’t as interested in staying with her. As soon as he saw the little stream
of water that we were walking beside he decided he needed to jump in. Max
hopped into the water and stayed in it as we walked further. He looked so cute
splashing around but eventually he jumped back out to play with Sadie. All of a
sudden they were in race mode and took off to the end of their leashes. After a
bit of a jog, we found ourselves in the water once again. This time Sadie was
quite interested in it this time. I looked over at her standing in the water,
not really moving around but simply standing with her head up and absorbing all
the new scents. Max splashed around a few more times before we started on our
way back.
Kai has been having such a good day! She is
super playful and gets excited when any of the staff go to see her! She started
her morning with a quick outing and then later with a walk joined by her friend
Julie. Kai loved the strong breeze that was out today. When she and I went for
a walk in the back trail, we made our way to the river and Kai was very content
to sit in the tall grass and look around. It was funny because once she lied
down, the wind blew her ear over and she looked so cute with her ear flipped
the wrong way. We continued on the path and saw Tiffani walking some other dogs
nearby and Kai lied down in the grass again, rolled around a few times and then
sat there watching Max and Sadie in the distance. I tried to get Kai to walk
some more but she pressed her head down into the grass and tried her hardest to
pull back on the leash. Since she wasn’t quite ready to head back inside, Kai
and I sat in the grass and I pet her head and ears. She kept watching the
little birds around the water's edge, and every so often, she would stand up, like
she wanted to chase them. Eventually we moved on and made our way back inside.
Kai stopped on the bridge and posed for a few lovely photos and then went back
in for a quick nap.
Boris and Tasha had such a fun day! During
their long outing today, they were joined by Isis, Sky and Kyah, three other
huskies. At first Boris and Tasha just wanted to play with each other, but
after, once Boris saw Sky, he lit up and bounced his way across the yard to her
side. Sky was reluctant to play but Boris insisted and these two ended up
jumping around together in the yard. Boris kept putting his paws up onto Sky’s
back and then leaping away and then Sky would chase him. Once Sky was done
playing, Boris moved on to play with Isis. He and Isis started a big game of
chase in the yard, and Boris had some serious zoomies. He was leaping right
over the rocks and racing through the play structure. Isis followed him
everywhere and soon enough, Tasha joined in. Tasha was hanging back at first, only
chasing the youngsters for a few seconds before stopping. After a few minutes,
Tasha was racing after Boris as fast as she could and she only stopped when she
bumped into Boris when he stopped. They
all slowed down a bit, and then Tasha and Boris strolled around the yard. Boris
came to me for some hugs and Tasha got a bit jealous so she wiggled her way,
right between us and started to lick my face. I pet her and gave her a face
massage. These two ended off their time outside with a quick race around the
yard and then straight in to the hallway. During their training today, Boris,
Tasha and I all went in the playroom together. We started off with the basics:
sit and lie down. Afterwards, I was focusing on making them both sit and wait
patiently while I walked around the playroom. At first these two goof balls
were not at the top of their game. Tasha jumped right on me when I first told
her to stay and Boris walked the other way, towards the toy bin. I let them
both explore the room and take in all the smells and then tried again. This
time they were much more focused. I got them both to sit, and Tasha immediately
lied down. Boris sat politely and I said, “stay” and then walked to the other
side of the room. They both stayed until I said it was okay and afterwards they
raced over to me for their rewards. We did this a few more times and they
really got the hang of it after a couple tries.
Percy had a blast today! He was in a group
with a bunch of playful huskies and Percy loved the attention he got from Jynxx
and Nyxx. Jynxx wanted to play with Percy right away, and Percy danced around
with her, leaping away and towards her while she rolled on the ground, pawing
at his face while she was upside down. After playing with Jynxx, Percy spotted
a rubber ball in one of the closed outdoor kennel and instantly decided it had
to be his. He stood at the gate barking until I noticed, and I got it for him
and threw it across the yard. He ran over there so fast, but he never brought
the ball back. This got Nyxx’s attention and Nyxx wanted to get the ball from
Percy. Percy dropped the ball and traded up for a bigger red ball. He carried
this one for a long while before he brought it to me to play fetch. We only
played fetch twice because he got disinterested in the ball and went to see his
friends. Before we went inside, I got the bubble blower and blew bubbles for
Percy. At first it looked like he liked it and was going to chase them, but
then he wandered away. Percy was ready to go inside and have a big drink of
water.
Issy and Mocha had a very good day today.
They went on their walk with a familiar daycare friend, Percy. Later in the
morning, Issy and Mocha went out for their long group. Mocha almost immediately
sat on the patio stone and began to watch the others do their thing in the
yard. I pet Mocha and then brought her to the grass yard. She wagged her tail
and then trotted off to sniff the play structure. Issy was over there, sniffing
around the growing grass. Nyxx really wanted to play with Issy, but she
politely declined and walked away. She went and gave Mocha a quick sniff and
then followed Mocha back to the door. Mocha had moved over to the outdoor
kennel where I was sitting on the stool, petting Jynxx. The girls went about
their normal routines, where Issy walks around saying hello to everyone and
then sometimes stops to say hi to her sister. When it was almost time to go
inside, Nyxx tried one last time to play with Issy, and this time she gave in,
and gave him a few flirty jumps around. He was surprised by this and laid down
right in front of her. Issy jumped right on him and then the two of them ran a
few meters away and repeated the same thing over again. Their flirty game was
short lived as it was time to come inside, but neither of the girls minded, and
were happy to go relax.
Winston was definitely interested in
cuddling today. It’s very nice to see that he’s always happy to go outside to explore and stretch his legs. Winston spent his
outdoor times today in the far part of the gravel yard as well as the grass
yard. He seemed to be quite the adventurer today and let his nose take him
wherever it wanted him to go. There were quite a few times where his sniffing
trails would lead him right to me so the two of us would snuggle beside one
another for a little while. Soon enough he decided it was cuddle time instead.
Winston quickly plopped down beside me and waited for some extra loving. He
made sure to rub his head right against my side to catch my attention. From
then on I spent my time giving him a good head rub and eventually, once eh laid
down, I gave him a short belly rub. Winston looked as happy as could be. When
it came time for Winston’s extra attention time he couldn’t have been more
excited. Winston came barreling down the hallway and went into every room he
could get into just trying to find the perfect spot for the two of us to hang
out. Eventually, after searching each room, he made his way into the kitchen
and plopped down onto the bed that I had laid out. Although Winston was trying
to get all snuggled on the bed, as soon as he saw his treats that I had brought
into the kitchen, Winston got up and immediately came over to get them. The
treats didn’t come for free though. I had Winston do a few tricks before he could
get his treats. He did an excellent job of his sits and even threw in a few
paws as well. After the treats it was back to cuddling on the bed. For the rest
of his time with me I brushed him with his favorite brush; the zoom groom.
Nanook was a little spunky boy today. His
energy always seemed to be at an extreme high and was always ready to come out
of his kennel to see his friends. Out in the yard, Nanook was especially
playful. I had brought out a red ball out into the yard to see if he wanted to
play a little bit of fetch and it was a success. Nanook trotted over to me and
pressed his nose right against the ball while giving it a good sniff. From then
he decided it was time to play. Nanook looked at me with the ball,
his little feet started pattering and soon it was take off time. Once I let the
ball be thrown from my hand, Nanook was racing after it. He would run all the
way into the far yard to chase after the ball. Once he got to it, he’d pick it
up and start running back. However I think the ball might have been a little
bit bigger than comfortable for him to carry so he ended up dropping it half
way. Each time I went back fro the ball; Nanook would follow right behind,
waiting for another opportunity to run. To finish off this group time, Nanook
joined his friend Shelby in the yard. I think he enjoyed sniffing her because
he followed her everywhere she went for the last little while and seemed to
have his nose stuck to her the whole time. The two of them were funny together
because neither of them knew if they wanted to actually play together or not. Later
in the morning, instead of us hanging out in the front reception area, Nanook
and I spent some time together in the playroom. Nanook was so happy to be in
there. He was running all over the room, and whenever he stopped running, he
barked at me, telling me he wanted me to chase him. I ran after him and he
switched directions and headed back the other way. Once he realized I had a few
treats, he stopped dead in his tracks and came over to me, and immediately
placed his little paw on my foot. I got him to lie down, where he proceeded to
give me his paw again. He’s such a clever man. He then got to spend some time
scavenging the treat puzzle again today. He has mastered it! I put the little treats
in to occupy him, but it only took him a couple minutes to get them all out and
then he came to me looking for some more. We then cuddled for a few minutes
before heading outside for another play time with his friends.
Miko was very excited to come in for
another day of daycare. When I let him out for his long playgroup, Miko came
zooming right out of his kennel and into the yard at top speed. He didn’t waste
any time greeting anyone just yet, but instead decided to run a few laps around
the yard. Miko looked like a little fluff ball moving around the yard. Soon
enough he quieted down and came trotting over to each of his friends. He gave
them a quick sniff, trying to determine whom he could play with. Eventually he
realized that I was the best fit for a play friend. I grabbed a stuffed bunny
from the yard and showed it to Miko. I wasn’t sure if he’d be interested in the
toy but after a few sniffs, Miko was jumping up to try and grab it from me. I
got him to sit patiently in front of me and wait for me to throw it up in the
air. Once I did, Miko would catch it in his mouth and quickly run off with his
new prized possession. Every so often he’d bring the stuffy back to me and we’d
play a little bit of tug-of-war before he was ready to run off with it again.
At the end of his play group, Miko got a burst of energy and started racing
around the yard a few more times before decided it was time to come back
inside.
