Tsavo and Percy were quite the energetic
daycare duo today while out in the yard with Husky ladies Jynxx and Ivy! Tsavo
loves to meet new faces and sure enough the perfect mix of Husky pals brought
out her playful side. She excitedly followed Ivy around the yard and repeatedly
gave her some paws to the back to entice her to play. Ivy whipped around and
jumped up on her hind legs in excitement, Tsavo quickly followed suit and
before I knew it, these two girls were both up dancing in the puddles! Meanwhile
Percy was off chasing Jynxx and the rest of the gang around the muddy yard.
Percy was just full of beans today and in between wrestling around with Tsavo
and Jynxx you could find him running laps in and around the agility tunnel to
burn off some of that extra energy!
Riley and Roobee had a fantastic start to
their morning by heading out for a trail-walk with good pal Bandit. Luckily for
them, the rain had slowed down at that point and they enjoyed a peaceful walk
along the trails! A little while later they had no choice but to get their paws
wet; they headed out for a morning session of play with their favourite
four-legged friends. Roobee ran around the yard looking for cover, but she was
easily coaxed out for some cuddles with Kinsey. Roobee much preferred her time
indoors and took advantage of all the warm cuddles she could get this
afternoon! The rain couldn’t bother Riley; he was excited to be out with all of
the playful pups including daycare pal Jemma and black lab siblings Iris and
Louie! Jemma was a riot today as usual; I think she was even more excited to be
out splashing in the rain on this very wet day. She quickly found a friend in
Riley and excitedly ran across the yard with hopes that he would chase her. She
loves the thrill of a good chase. Soon enough she had most of the gang chasing
behind her including Teddy who was excitedly in herding mode! But of course Jemma
had to lie down right into the puddle while in submission mode! Iris and Louie
loved having sweet Jemma and spirited Teddy join them in their group today. Not
that they needed any more encouragement to play. They are two of the sweetest
and silliest pups around and always have a good time with their friends. They
are definitely social by nature and always want to be in the centre of all the
action and bring such a fun-loving energy to their groups. Teddy just loved
having them around, they were the perfect pals to try and herd into the centre
of the yard and they happily encouraged both Teddy and Jemma to chase them. It
was my most energetic group of the day and they had a blast jumping in and out
of all the puddles; we had some very soggy and exhausted dogs by the time they
headed back inside.
Riley and Roobee were extra excited for their extra attention time because it was quite late in the afternoon when they headed up to the reception area. Since they'd already had indoor play in the playroom this afternoon, I decided to change things up a little. Once they were up front I let them both explore the room to their hearts content. When they were ready, Kinsey and I split them up. Since Roobee is a little more nervous and didn't want to play, Kinsey cuddled and pet her on the dog bed while Riley and I played ball. Riley loved the blue bouncy ball and he was excellent at dropping it so that I could throw it for him over and over again.

Max and Sadie were unusually quiet this
morning as they took their time to explore the yard in the heavy rain. Sadie
was certainly not thrilled about all the rain and kept looking up at me with
the saddest eyes! But being the smart cookie that she is, she quickly found
cover by the side of the building and lounged out there as she watched her
confident brother run circles around the yard. We decided to spend the rest of
our time indoors, and they were both thrilled to have free roam of the playroom
and both picked out a delicious bone to munch on. Max then headed back to his
warm bed and happily chewed away. Sadie decided to hang out with me in the
playroom and enjoyed her time picking out toys, chewing on her bone and most
importantly accepting endless amounts of belly rubs and cuddles!
Nanook managed to keep his beautiful, white coat as clean as
possible during his walk on this rainy morning. He carefully maneuvered around
the puddles, while his walking buddies didn’t hesitate for a second to splash
around in the water. It was nice to get out and get some fresh air, but I could
tell Nanook was especially excited when it came time for groups, and I didn’t
lead him out into the yard. Instead, we went up to the indoor playroom, where a
big bed, the couch, and toys all awaited us. Nanook followed his nose all
around the room, sniffing the full perimeter, which led him to the toy bin that
had been tipped over for his convenience. Nanook popped his head in the bin and
gave everything a good look, though he opted to continue around the room
instead of choosing a toy. I sat on the couch and Nanook came running over,
eager to sit on my lap. He was a great snuggle partner with all of that fluffy
fur! We sat together and Nanook enjoyed some bum scratches before hopping down
when another dog wanted a turn. Resa, another small dog friend, was very
interested in Nanook and met up with him to say hello. She pawed him gently and
they sniffed each others’ noses for a quick minute before Nanook came back to
me for more pets.
Bruno was as eager as always to get out onto the walking
trail this morning. He loved his walking buddy, Maya, wiggling and snorting in
excitement when they met in the hall. Bruno didn’t mind the puddles one bit,
and splashed his way through the field, making sure to do lots of sniffing on
each and every tree we came across. After a quick nap and some time to dry off,
Bruno and his group-mates had some indoor playtime in the playroom! Bruno ran
up and down the hallway, full of excitement as I ushered the rest of his
friends into the room. It was so cute watching him fly back and forth, before
turning on a dime and joining the rest of the group at the last second. He kept
up his fast pace once in the playroom, too. Bruno took a quick second to sniff
around before asking me for some pets and cuddles. I sat down with Bruno and
scratched his bum, which led to him rolling over onto his back for a belly rub.
I offered him a toy next, but he was much more focused on me than the ball. I
gave the ball to Julie instead, which then made it so much more desirable to
Bruno! He sat and watched her chew on the ball for a bit before joining Nanook
and I up on the couch.
Bruno was still full of beans when it was time for his extra attention today. He sped up to the front reception area and quickly trotted around the room inspecting every corner. I had a few treats in my pocket and when I showed them to Bruno, they caught his attention right away. He hopped up on his hind legs and hopped around me, hoping for a goodie. He gave me his paw and did some sits for me. After treats, we looked in the toy bin together, searching for the perfect toy. Bruno's toy of choice was the stuffless fox, which we played tug with until it was time for Bruno to head back to his bed for a rest.
Maya and Rocky started out their morning as they usually do
at Thursday daycare; Maya went for a faster-paced walk around the field, while
Rocky went for a shorter walk in the front yard. They met back up for some
snuggle time in their kennel before it was time for mid-morning groups. To
their delight, we spent our morning group time in the playroom! Maya said hello
to Nanook and Bruno, who she met on her walk earlier, while Rocky found himself
a special toy. The red ball has a treat stuck inside it, which makes for some
brain work! Rocky nosed the ball around, listening to the treat rattle inside,
although it just wouldn’t come out. I snuck over and gave Rocky a treat from my
pocket, A+ for effort! Meanwhile, Maya was lounging around on the other side of
the room, watching Resa, Rudy and a few other friends. She must have let all of
her zoomies out during walk time! She saw Rocky and I and came over to check on
him, sniffing around his ears and giving him a little nuzzle. It’s absolutely
heartwarming seeing how much these two love each other!
Chloe C. had tons of toy options in the yard today! We went
out to the most dry and grassy yard, which still had quite a few puddles.
Chloe’s eyes lit up right away when she saw me open the gate, allowing her to
sprint over and grab her toys of choice. She grabbed the orange Frisbee type
toy and walked around with it half covering her face! Nyxx spotted Chloe and
ran over, grabbing the other side of her Frisbee toy, starting a game of tug. After
a minute or two, Chloe came out victorious and took off to the other side of
the yard with her prize. I went and found a few other toys to see if there was
one she’d like instead, but of course she was quite happy with the orange one,
although it didn’t stop her from chasing the other toys all while carrying her
favourite! The toy toss drew some attention from the other dogs in the group,
and Chloe had some competition. Her golden retriever friend gave Chloe a run
for her money and she had lots of fun in the chase!
Bandit had a blast with his friends in the yard today,
despite the crummy weather. He didn’t let the rain slow him down one bit, and
made a couple of new friends! He made sure to say hello to all of the other
dogs before branching off with a lovely golden retriever. This pair were
absolutely adorable together. They would play-bow to one another, which led to
lots of pouncing and spurts of running. After some quality play time with his
golden friend, Bandit couldn’t help but go and see what the others were up to
like the social butterfly that he is. Bandit met up with Spencer, another black
lab type of guy, and these two stood together, wagging their tails very quickly
in greeting. They splashed in the puddle together for a minute before Bandit
caught a glimpse of even more friends through the gate and in the other yard.
He said adieu to Spencer and made his way over to Cai and Issy, two of our
daycare pals. Cai and Bandit wound up walking around together for a little
while, which led him right back to the grassy yard where he had started. Bandit was
happy to spend some time in his dry kennel before afternoon group in the
playroom. Bandit found a few toys in the playroom that he absolutely loved! The
red bouncy ball and the giraffe stuffy were two of his favourites, and he
carried them around for all to see. Bandit shook the giraffe as hard as he
could, sending it flying across the room. That’s when he spotted the red ball,
and bounced it around for himself. Another friend was playing with a ball too,
and the pair were so cute to watch as they each chased their bouncy ball around
the room.
Issy and Mocha were troopers out in the rain today! Mocha
hung back for most of her time in the yard, but Issy was busy following her
nose around and greeting some of the other dogs. She was happy to see Nyxx
again today, and wagged her tail quite quickly in greeting. She moved on after
a minute and met a new friend as she strolled. Spencer the lab mix was quite
taken with Issy, and started to follow her as she roamed around the yard. We
kept things short and sweet outside, since most of Issy and Mocha’s group-mates
weren’t too keen on staying out in the rain for too long. We had some really
fun afternoon play time in the playroom, though! Mocha sat herself down to
watch Issy and Nyxx, who were having tons of fun playing together. Nyxx found a
ball that he absolutely loved, and Issy couldn’t help but have a look at the
toy, too. Nyxx took the ball up onto the couch and Issy followed, play-bowing
and pouncing towards her grandson. Kimi came over and joined in on the fun,
too, while Mocha held her post and watched as I pet her head. When Nyxx nestled
himself into the couch, Issy went back over to see Mocha, doing a few circles
around their corner of the room before it was time to head back to their cozy
kennel.
Kimi is such a funny girl. She wanted to look all around the
yard during group time, but she wasn’t too keen on the mud or the puddles, so
she followed the last remaining patches of snow around the yard. Kimi tiptoed
on the snow, trying to reach her nose as close to the tunnel or to another dog
as she could without stepping onto the wet ground. She was quite happy later on
in the afternoon when, instead of going back out into the yucky yard, we went
up to the playroom for some indoor time! Kimi got to play with her good friends
Issy and Nyxx, with Mocha and I watching from the side. Nyxx and Issy had been
chasing one another around for a few minutes when Kimi decided to join in on
the fun! She pounced onto the couch where Nyxx was sitting with his ball. He
and Issy were more than happy to have Kimi bouncing in to play, too.
Cai was as eager as ever to head out for a walk this morning
with Tsavo and his daycare friend, Percy. Cai splashed through all of the
puddles and sniffed at all of the trees, not minding the weather one bit. He
and Tsavo parted ways after their walk, and Cai went to play outside with his
group of the week. Cai found a partner in crime almost immediately. He and Nyxx
the husky were both on a mission to explore and wrestle during their outdoor
time. Cai watched Nyxx as he roamed around, and pounced over when he felt the
time was right to start playing. The boys wrestled around together from one end
of the yard to the other and back again! Cai stopped for a little break and to
sniff around by the tunnel, saying hello to whoever happened to pop out at
either end. After a rest in his kennel, Cai and a few friends enjoyed some
indoor play time in our playroom! After lots of activity this morning, Cai was
more in the mood to relax, and that’s just what he did. He laid down by the
door and watched his other friends play with their toys. He came over to see me
for some pets and have a look in the toy bin himself, but ended up coming back
to his spot to relax for a while.
