Harlow has made a few friends in the cattery during his stay! He and Strider the tabby can usually be found lounging next to each other or at least close by. This morning Harlow was stretched out on the floor with his tail wagging gently. Strider was laying down behind him, and couldn't help but swat softly at Harlow's fluffy white tail. He managed to catch it a couple of times, and Harlow just looked back at him as if to say "what on earth are you doing?". I went to visit with Rumple next, and he was curled up on his pillow, having a snooze in his cubby. He looked quite content there, so I got out his brush. He rubbed his head and chin on it, leaning into it a bit more each time. Harlow had hopped up on to the cat tree at that point, so I got his brush out and gave him a turn, too. After our grooming session, Harlow was ready for play time! He chased the laser pointer around the room, bouncing off the walls and pouncing on the floor while the other kitties watched him. He could have chased it for hours! When another staff member joined us in the room, I went to get Rumple for a snuggle while she continued to shine the laser pointer for Harlow and his audience.

Sophie and I spent lots of time together during her group outing this morning. After a nice trail walk with Leah, Sophie was up and ready to get back out into the breezy yard. She nudged my hand and chatted away to me while I pet her head and scratched her ears. Sophie flashed her infectious smile at me, as if to say "keep going!". She would have sat next to me all day if she could have! I spotted a ball across the yard and thought maybe Sophie would be up for some fetch. She is so cute and so funny when she plays ball! I tossed it for her and each time she would leap as high as she possibly could to catch the ball, although most of the time it wound up between her paws on the ground! Sophie did make a few great catches, though! She met a couple of friends along  the way when she chased the ball. A Bloodhound named Wally was particularly interesting to Sophie with his droopy face and abundance of wrinkles. She also stopped to sniff noses with Husky pal, Ricky who was watching her as she bounced around the yard. Sophie and I finished our time in the yard together with lots more pets and cuddles. She's just the sweetest girl!

Pelley is always ready for action, and today was no exception! She was quite eager to sniff around and stretch her legs first thing this morning, and even more ready when walk time rolled around a little bit later on. She walked very nicely with her two friends Merida and Resa, making sure to splash in all of the puddles along the way. Pelley had a little rest time in her big comfy bed until it was time for her next activity. She flew out into the yard with her doggie friends following close behind. She did a quick lap of the yard before she found a friend to bounce around with. She very much liked Nanook, who was new to the group today, and Flora the Jack Russell. Some of the other dogs heard a noise beyond the fence and ran over to investigate, but Pelley wasn't too concerned. She turned to me and started to play-bow! I could tell she was ready to run around, so I started hopping around and running with her while the other dogs were occupied. She ran circles around me; boy is she fast!

It was lovely to see Nanook again this morning! He's looking as fluffy and handsome as always. We went for a walk around the trail as soon as he arrived, and he marched along, weaving around the bigger puddles and keeping his paws as dry as possible. Nanook had a similar agenda in the yard a little bit later on this morning. He was very excited to go and sniff around the yard and say hello to the other dogs, all while prancing around each puddle and staying closer to the door where the ground is the most dry. I knelt down with Nanook and gave him lots of pets and cuddles, which he seemed to enjoy. When the other dogs noticed us and came over in our direction, Nanook decided to go over by the door and say hello to Julie. He then heard a noise on the other side of the fence, and sounded his alarm! He was so cute, barking and howling at the "intruder", although I'm very certain it was the dumpster lid in the wind.

Bruno was a little lovebug during our one-on-one outing this morning. He did lots of sniffing around the edges of the fence, but always came back to my side, hopping up for me to pet him. I knelt down each time, of course, and gave him lots of back scratches and belly rubs. Bruno looked like he was ready for some fun after a little while, so I got out an orange tennis ball. He stood right up on his hind legs and pawed at the ball, so I tossed it for him to chase. Bruno wiggled after the ball as fast as his legs would carry him, and placed his paw on it. I tossed it a few more times around the yard before Bruno decided that he'd rather try and pull the felt off of the outside of the ball instead. So, we went back to pets and cuddles with the odd ball toss in between. He's such a funny, positive little guy, who's great to spend time with!

Finnigan is always a joy to have around. He loves all the toys we have around these days. He seems to be very focused on what stuffy he can get a hold of underneath other dogs kennels as well as in the staff room. He was happy when I gave him a rope toy to chew on at the end of his day. In the yard Finn was thrilled to meet up with Molly for some friendly, competitive fetch. He had some other dogs on his heels too. but he and Molly are a match for no one. We had a good time tossing the ball around as well as the frisbee. During his second outing he couldn't have been more thrilled to meet up with Scout and Farley. He is so silly, rolling onto his back inviting them to say hello. Dogs seem to be a little unsure of Finns funny behaviour, but always give in to his play requests. Finn loved dancing around with Scout and racing around with Farley. It was a lot of fun to watch him make new friends and goof around with his new boarding friends.

Kai was very excited to see me walk down the hall with leashes in hand this morning. Her feet were going pitter patter, back and forth, as I entered her kennel. She was eager to get hooked up and head out for a stroll. Alongside Kai were two friends, Bentley and Tennya. Kai showed a lot of interest in Tennya throughout their walk. She was continuously play bowing and dancing around Tennya, not bothering to consider the leashes around her. Tennya and Kai ended up intertwined, with big smiles on their faces. They finally figured out to enjoy one another's company while walking rather than playing. In the yard, Kai was happy to hang out by my side for most of her outdoor time. She loves a good snuggle, especially if it involves ear scratches. It was windier than I expected today so I was happy to have Kai around to keep me warm. Kai wasn't all about the human attention, however; she did meet up with playful Scout for a brief dance around. Scout and Kai had a lot of fun dancing left and right as well as leaping on one another for a gentle boxing match. Kai was very happy with all the company she had and couldn't wait to head out for her next outing to get playing around some more. During her extra attention time, Kai was great company in the playroom, kitchen and reception area. She loves to be included in everything that's going on, whether it's cuddles on the couch or rolling around the treat ball or checking out what the staff is doing in the grooming room. I love having this girl for company!

Poppy is such a sweet girl. I was excited to see her after my weekend off; she is always full of love and never resists sharing her love. She pounced all over me with her wiggling bum and excited eyes, staring up at me. After loads of attention, Poppy took off to sniff and explore the yard. She was very keen to wander around the perimeter of the yard checking out all the smells around. As she was wandering around, she met up with the handsome Justice. Poppy was very fascinated with him and wandered after him looking to play. Justice wasn't too focused on Poppy, but after much convincing he turned around and danced with her. These two were adorable, frolicking around the yard together with happy tails. Poppy left him alone after a bit and then set off to meet up with Kai and Scout. She had some fun keeping them company before making her way back to me for more love and attention.

Henry had a lot of fun in his group today. He kept very busy by following a fellow golden retriever around the yard. Molly is always very focused on toys and fetch. Henry wasn't too sure what the big commotion was when I held a ball in the air and Molly, along with 4 other friends, sat and stared at me. Henry was weaving all around his friends with a big smile and wagging tail, eager for someone to play with him. All of his friends continued to sit and stare at me with big eyes. Henry still hadn't caught on to the ball in my hand, nor did he seem to care. He finally put an end to the game by leaping right up on me to get some attention. This excited the other dogs and they were running in circles around me as I still had the ball in hand. I finally launched it across the yard, and Henry took off after them. He flew across the yard, once again not sure what the fuss was all about. Nonetheless he had a lot of fun running around with all his friends. He was also very pleased to spend some one on one time with me in the yard getting bundles of kisses and cuddles.

Duke was very interested in his new group mate, Nyxx. He spent the majority of his outdoor time following him around, trying to get him to play. Nyxx was very focused on Kyah, and wasn't giving much attention to Duke until finally Duke made a move and leapt right on Nyxx. Nyxx turned around quickly and gave in to his game request. The two boxed back and forth, which then led to some wrestling. Duke loved all the fun and games he was having with Nyxx, but didn't realize he is twice the size of Nyxx. Continuously knocking him over, all in good fun, I had to take Duke away for a bit to give Nyxx a break. Duke was so wonderful showing me his sit and down in the yard with many distractions around. After a bit of a break he went back to Nyxx for some running around fun. He was ready for a nap after play time, but was eager to get out for his next outing when the time rolled around. Later in the afternoon, I got to spend some extra attention time with the handsome Duke. He was alert as usual, but also ready to lay at my feet and just enjoy the pets and attention I gave him. I really enjoyed this special time with the sweet Duke!
