Chloe had a great time with all of her friends today! She was bouncing around with excitement for her walk this morning, and could hardly wait to get onto the trail. As we headed out, Chloe took the lead with Georgia right on her tail. The girls set a quick pace and only slowed down when they got a whiff of something good in the snow. Occasionally Georgia would pounce on Chloe to play, and the two of them would hop around each other for a bit, and then they would continue plowing ahead. After the walk, it was soon time for groups. Chloe was on her feet right away as I opened her kennel. She went flying into the yard and immediately set out in search of a toy. There were lots of options in the yard today, and she had trouble picking just one! Her eyes landed first on the jolly ball, and Chloe went leaping after it, nudging it around with her nose until she stumbled upon an even better toy. She quickly snatched up the orange ball before anybody else noticed it. Then, Chloe went trotting around the yard with her ball proudly on display. Eventually she came over and dropped it at my feet, waiting for me to throw it and never taking her eyes off of the ball. After a few rounds of fetch, Chloe headed over to play with our volunteer, Eric, who was throwing a tennis ball for the dogs. She didn't want to leave behind her other toy, and decided to carry it around with her while she and the rest of her group chased the tennis ball. Chloe even went diving through the tunnel after it! She seemed to be having a blast racing with Nyxx and Sophie to see who could reach the ball first. Then Chloe suddenly noticed a rubber bone near the tunnel. She couldn't choose between her ball and the bone! While Chloe was trying to pick, Nyxx suddenly darted over and stole her ball. Chloe was then left with her bone, which she happily carried around for the rest of group time.
Nymeria had another awesome day! She is a bundle of absolute energy during group time. Today, she met up with fellow huskies Magic and Justice for her walk. The three of them were very excited to head out and were racing each other all the way to the trail. Once we crossed the bridge, they slowed down a bit and took their time sniffing around in the trees. Nymeria was in a playful mood and kept pawing at the other two. Magic would hop away and Justice seemed to be ignoring Nym at first, until he eventually gave in and wrestled with her for a short while. When Nymeria was satisfied, she trotted off to keep exploring. After that walk, Nymeria was soon sprawled out in her kennel for a rest before group time. She wasted no time leaping to her toes when I opened the door. Nym practically flew out of her kennel and went barrelling into the yard with Sophie on her tail. She ran between each dog and gave them all a friendly sniff before moving on to the next one. I could tell she was itching to play with somebody. Nymeria went bouncing towards the tunnel and poked her head inside. Suddenly Nyxx burst out and the two of them raced off, Nymeria running straight into Mercer. Fortunately for her, Mercer just so happened to be looking for a playmate as well. The two of them wasted no time pouncing on each other. Mercer spun in circles while Nymeria attempted to grab his legs, and soon she ended up rolling around in the snow while Mercer licked her face. Once Nymeria was on her feet again, the game started over and they would go back to wrestling. Whenever Nymeria managed to wriggle herself free, she would lead Mercer on a big chase around the yard. This got Nyxx's attention, and he ran over to join them. Soon it was just Nyxx and Nymeria chasing each other around, while Mercer watched from afar. The two of them then headed over to play fetch with some of the other dogs.
Riley and Roobee are really enjoying this warmer weather. They couldn't wait for their walk this morning and wasted no time heading for the door. The melting snow has unearthed lots of interesting scents, and the two of them were very busy checking out the trail. Riley soon took the lead and trotted around ahead of us, sniffing each tree that he passed. Roobee, on the other hand, decided to stick with me and never strayed too far from my side, although she made sure to sniff each inch of the path! When we got back, it was time for their extra attention, so we headed up to the playroom. Riley started wandering around to explore the space and Roobee followed him. They seemed a bit unsure of cuddling with me at first, though once they each gave my hand a thorough sniff, both of them were happy to snuggle. We then went to check out the toy bin and see what kinds of interesting stuff they could play with. Roobee politely looked at each toy I handed her, though I could tell she would much rather enjoy some more attention instead, so I sat down to give her a scratch behind the ears once Riley had picked the toy he liked. While Roobee sat beside me, I tossed Riley's rubber toy and he was leaping around trying to catch it. After that, the two of them were happy for more pats before we went back to their kennel. They had a brief rest, and then we headed out for groups! The two of them wandered around the yard to say hello to their group. Riley was very excited to meet some new guests, Iris and Louis. He and Louis hit it off right away and the boys went racing off to play together. Roobee, as usual, was looking for attention. She snuck up beside me and watched Riley running around while I scratched behind her ears. Roobee is such a funny girl; she didn't seem thrilled while I was petting her, but as soon as I stopped she would nose my hand around until I kept going. While his sister was enjoying her cuddles, Riley was busy wrestling with his new best friend. The two of them switched between pouncing and chasing each other around the yard. Occasionally they were joined by Jack, who would leap into the middle of it and send everybody racing around. When Riley finally tired out, he trotted over to see Roobee and I, and get some attention of his own.
Iris and Louie had such a wonderful first day. They started it off right away with a walk, along with their new friend Mercer. Both of them were very eager to check out the trail. They were zigzagging all over the place as they tried to sniff everything at once, and Mercer happily trotted along in the middle. After their walk, the two of them had some more time to settle in to their kennel, and then we headed out for their first group. Iris was happy to meet all of the dogs and wandered around saying hello to everybody. Louie seemed about ready to burst with excitement. I'm not sure if all of his feet were ever touching the ground! The dogs made their way to the agility yard, with Iris and Louie hurrying after them. I found the jolly ball for them to play with and both of them came flying over, ready to fetch. Iris had so much fun chasing it around in the snow, while Louie wasn't quite sure what to do with himself and was just bouncing around after Iris. They chased the ball around for a while and then decided to play with some of their new group-mates. Louie bumped into Riley, and a second later the boys were flying across the yard. Riley was more than happy to wrestle with Louis. Iris figured that she would start off slower and came over to cuddle with me for a bit. She's such a sweetheart! Soon enough she went trotting after Louie. He had gotten himself quite wound up and was racing circles in the yard, with Jack and Riley on his tail. Iris made a beeline for Louie and smoothly tackled him into the snow. They both bounced up and traded spots, with Iris in the lead as the group ran laps. Every so often they would change things up and chase after someone new. Once they all slowed down to catch their breath, Louie was good and wet from rolling around in the snow. He shook himself off and hopped over to see what I was up to. Louie was eager to show off his manners by sitting for a picture, although he was very intrigued by the camera and I could tell he was thinking that it looked like a great toy. Iris was much more patient and happily posed for some pictures before the dogs headed inside for a nap!
