Nanook was full of beans today! He couldn't wait to get out into the yard and see his friends. He was particularly happy to see Jake the mini doodle, who's always ready for some fun and games. The boys paired up and bounced around together, catching the interest of some of the others as well. It was so cute watching them scuttle around and pounce on each other. They swapped wrestling partners a couple of times before deciding to try something else for a while. Nanook saw me throwing a ball for another friend and raced over to join in. He eagerly chased the ball a few times before coming to see me for a back scratch. After groups, Nanook and I went up to the playroom for his one on one time. He was still full of energy, so we ran a few laps around the room together. I went and got the treat puzzle next, which is one of his favourite activities! I put little tidbits of treats in the easier compartments and a bigger treat in the harder wheel section of the toy. Nanook concentrated and got all of his prizes! We finished our time together with some back scratches and pets on the couch.

Maya and Rocky had a nice relaxing first group outing this morning. They seemed to be happy that the weather is warming up and the breeze is light and refreshing. Rocky left his usual post by the fence and followed his nose around to the gate into the grassy yard. I was pleasantly surprised to see him up and roaming, so I went to say hello. Maya followed me and said hello to Rocky, too. He meandered around and eventually made it back to his regular spot by the door, where he posed for a couple of nice pictures. I went back out to the grassy part of the yard and encouraged Maya to follow me, but she was feeling cool and calm, so decided to hang out and watch the other dogs play instead. She went around and said hello to her group mates, including Coco the Beagle, and her old friend Resa. It wasn’t until a little bit later in the morning that Maya started feeling a bit more bouncy. We went for a nice walk on the trail with Maya’s friends Merida and Resa, and Maya spent lots of time sniffing around on the first half of the path. Once we crossed the driveway to the last stretch, though, she got the zoomies and started running like crazy! She’s so funny. Rocky and I went for a shorter, slower paced walk in the front field, but he decided that he’d rather sit down in the grass and be pet instead of actually walking.

Timbits was ready for play time as soon as he set foot in the yard this morning. He raced over to see the other dogs and say his hellos before bouncing out into the grassy yard. Pippin and I were playing fetch and Timbits just couldn’t wait to get in on the action. He raced after the ball every time I threw it, and successfully caught it a couple of times, too. Meanwhile, Coco had been hanging out back by the door with Rocky and Julie, but she also decided to come out and join us in the grassy yard. The game of fetch must have caught her eye, because she came sprinting in to chase the ball with Timbits and Pippin. After the first chase, Coco pounced on Timbits to start a little wrestling match.  Coco only wanted to wrestle with Timbits, so when he started up with Jake, she decided to hang back and watch for a bit. I gave her lots of pets and even a cookie from my pocket. Later on in the morning, Coco and Timbits went out for a walk on the trail with their pal Nanook, and then had a little rest before going out for the next group.

Pippin was a little ball of energy in the yard today! He somehow knew that I had a cookie in my pocket, and hopped along beside me as I walked around the yard. Even after I gave him the treat, Pippin was convinced I must have more and continued to hop along with me. I assured him that I was all out of snacks, and picked up a ball for him instead. Pippin started to squeak in excitement, and hopped up onto his back legs to try and reach it. I threw the ball and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Pippin run so fast! He flew across the yard like a little white cloud and quickly snatched up the ball. I managed to throw the ball a couple more times before Pippin decided he wanted to play “no take, only throw”, a game where he wants me to throw the ball but won’t let me take it from him! He’s so silly. After a little while, Pippin put the ball down and joined in on the little wrestling match with friends Nanook, Timbits and Jake. Later on in the morning, Pippin joined Bella, Jake and I on a nice walk around the path, before having a little rest in his kennel until afternoon group time.

Kai was thrilled to be outside this morning with all her favourite friends; she is of course a very social girl and is always the best version of herself when surrounded with her silly four-legged friends! She was her normal gentle and calm self as she made her way around the yard, weaving in and out of her pals. She was happy to see fellow Bernese brothers Dragon and Gryphon, I had to take a double glance each time to see who was who! Kai was full of lots of kisses and cuddles this morning and of course carried that clever grin of hers across her face. Next, she headed out for her morning trail walk with pals Sophie and Andy. Both Andy and Sophie waited patiently as Kai found the perfect spot to roll around in, a must on her walks! Later on in the day, Kai and I went back out into the lovely sunshine for her extra attention time. She led me around the front field, looking for the perfect place to roll around in the fresh grass. After lots of roaming, Kai and I went back inside for a drink and some relaxation time. She climbed right up onto the armchair in the reception area and made herself comfortable. I sat next to her on the arm of the chair and gave her lots of pets. She's been showing off her best smiles now that she's feeling all better!

Next up was our clan of Thursday daycare pals including Percy, Teddy, Spencer, Kimi and Mocha. Mocha was a bit hesitant to head out the doors this morning, especially since her sister Issy wasn’t there to support her, but after some encouragement she made her way outside only to find a seat by the door in protest! But she knows that I will eventually make my way over and give her all the attention she could ever want and have endless amounts of head rubs. Not to mention she had a front row seat to all the commotion happening in front of her. Percy and Teddy could barely keep their paws off each other from the moment they set paw outside, they were ready to wrestle and play in usual fashion! They were very happy to have Charly the Golden join them for a play session outside. They could see how much she adored the ball and this made Percy want to steal it away from her even more. And of course, Teddy was excitedly running circles around them and picked up speed every time Percy tried to sneak in and get the ball. Spencer was being his usual goofy self watching from the sidelines along with Kimi and Jetta. Spencer thought he better sit this wrestle out, and there he was off exploring the yard with his nose to the ground and floppy tongue hanging out the side. Every time I would call his name, he would lift his head up in amusement and of course his floppy tongue would still be hanging out the side, such a jolly boy that one is! Kimi has been very playful during her daycare days with us lately, but today she took a note from Mocha and decided that there was too much puppy energy going on for her to join in. She much preferred to explore the yard alongside pal Spencer as she tried to dodge the chaos from Charly, Percy and Spencer. But she was curious as ever and always made sure to have one eye on the group and her tail would perk up and ears would fly back in amusement as Charly and Percy leapt into the air after the ball.
