Boris and Tasha had a good day. I spent time with them in the yard for
their first outing of the day. Kyah and Isis, two of our staff huskies, joined them. Boris was very happy to have Kyah outside, and wanted to play with her the second he got outside. Kyah wasn’t much for playing at first, but I got her to leap around with Boris for a few minutes. These two playing then got Tasha all worked up, and she decided she wanted to play with him,so she joined in and slowly butted Kyah out of their wrestling match. Tasha put her front paws on Boris’ back and tried to stand there at long as she could, grabbing at Boris’ ears while they played. Boris pushed his mum off and ran across the yard. Tasha then slowed down and wandered the yard instead of playing. Boris came over to me for lots of cuddles. I bent down to pet his back and then I started giving him a face massage. Boris loved it and when I stopped, he leaped up into my face again, kissing my face so that I would give him lots of pets again. We cuddled for a little longer and then I went over to Tasha to pet her too. She and I cuddled for a few minutes and then she was content with the attention she got and she wandered off again, saying hello to Isis, who was sitting in the outdoor kennel watching the others peruse the yard. Tasha joined her, just two ladies sitting together. It was very cute. Boris and Tasha had a joint training session in the playroom this afternoon. I left all of the toys out so that there would be lots to distract them from the task at hand. We did some simple commands, such as sit, down and stay. To make things more challenging, I let either Boris or Tasha roam around the room on their own, while the other had to sit, lay down and stay. Boris did a great job while Tasha roamed about, but Tasha found this exercise to be a bit difficult. She just knew I had treats in my pocket and couldn't resist coming to ask for one! Boris and Tasha always keep it interesting and it's always fun to work with them!
Today the small dog group went outside for a few minutes and then we
spent the rest of our group time inside in the playroom. Winston was so happy to be able to hangout inside. He was the first one in there, nudging the door open with his nose, and heading right for the bed on the floor. He sat there for a little while, watching the other dogs settle in the playroom as well. Eventually he got up and wandered the room a bit. He sniffed the bins and all the blankets. Once I sat down on the bed, he returned to me and slowly turned his body around and sat his bum right on my lap. He relaxed there while I pet his back and rubbed his ears. Winston didn’t move until it was time to return to his kennel. Later in the morning, Winston and I spent some time together in the kitchen. The big orthopedic bed was in there and we both relaxed on it. Kinsey brought us the Zoom-Groom brush and I brushed Winston for the longest time. Slowly he sat down and then later on he lay down on the bed, almost falling asleep. Kinsey came to visit us in the kitchen a few times and each time Winston happily got up to say hello to her. After a little while, Winston was happy to head back to his kennel for a nice nap.

Nanook got to spend lots of time in the indoor playrooms today, too! During our outing together, he went outside for a quick pee and then we all headed in the playroom. Nanook was happy to be inside, as the rain is not his favorite thing. In the playroom, Nanook trotted around, very excitedly and said hello to all of his friends again. Coco and Timbits were playing with each other inside and Nanook went over to them to see what was going on. He quickly lost interest in their wrestling match and moved on to something else. I saw that he was just sitting down on the one of the blankets so I joined him. Nanook loves getting lots of cuddles, and we all love to cuddle him because he is so fluffy. Today he got a really good back and bum scratch, while giving me gentle little kisses on my cheek.
Nanook can be such a snuggle bug. Today during his extra attention time,
he hopped up onto the couch in the playroom next to me and I gave him lots of back scratches. After a couple of little treats, Nanook hopped down to see what else there was in the room. I put some more snacks in the treat puzzle, and that kept his mind busy for a while. He nosed and pawed at the puzzle until he found each and every treat. Such a smart cookie!
Kai has become quiet the adventurer. I really enjoyed spending a lot of
time with her out in the back. We did a lot of off-roading, making our own
trails and finding our own treasures. Kai loved the stream. We walked down the
stream and found a nice pond with some rushing water and small water falls. Kai made her way across the dry patch above the mini waterfall, sniffing everything under her paws. She wasn't afraid to get her paws wet whatsoever. After a lot of water adventures, we made our way back onto the trail. Of course, Kai found numerous places to roll around. She loves lying in the brush and getting her muzzle underneath it. We kept very busy adventuring and exploring the back trails today. She was happy to have some good human time despite feeling a little under the weather.
Bunker has been coming out of his shell, more and more each day. He was
very happy to partake in a group with some older, independent dogs as well as some youngsters. Bunker was quick to meet up with Jynxx and Nyxx and check out their games. He tried getting in on the fun, but quickly realized he wasn't too keen on the wrestling. He then made his way to Finn and Andy who were frolicking around together. Bunker fit right in with these two. The three of them danced around, enjoying one another’s company very much. He was happy to spend the last part of his outdoor time by my side, cuddling into me.

Bunker was in a very eager mood when it came to his training session today. It was pouring rain outside so I set up an area full of distractions for Bunker inside instead. We moved between the reception area, the kitchen, the playroom and the hallway and all of the interesting things that can be found in each space. Bunker was very happy to see Leah, who was standing in the kitchen eating her lunch. I called him back and with a gentle tug on his leash, he came running back to me. We did this exercise all over the place and he did a great job! He certainly loves his treats. To finish our session, Bunker showed off his sits, downs and even rolled over halfway!

Finn had a lot of fun today. He was such a bouncy boy in his walk, keeping Kinsey very busy as they trotted along the trail. In the yard, he was much the same. He was eager to get out there and meet up with his friends. He was excited to see he was outside with Jynxx, a fun husky. They instantly met up, and began playing around with Nyxx too. These three loved to wrestle and roll around, creating a lot of commotion. Finn decided to take a break from them to join in on some sniffing and exploring with two independent dogs. Andy and Bunker were happy to have his company and quickly became more playful than usual. Andy was particularly fond of Finn, and the pair became friends. They had a lot of fun bouncing around together, including Bunker when he wanted to join in. Finn was happy to return indoors to his kennel with a big comfy cot and a Nylabone.
