Riley has been having a lot of fun with two of our boarding guests, Iris and Louie. These two black labs are very busy, creating a lot of fun for Riley to partake in. He alternates who is fonder of, and today he was particularly interested in Louie. Riley loved racing around the yard with him as he and I played fetch. When Iris stepped in, Riley would paw at her and then turn around and continue to leap all over Louie. He was always sure to be aware of the labs whereabouts in between his laps around the yard. Riley was also very sure to keep an eye on Roobee, who wasn’t too pleased about this weather. Roobee stuck pretty close to the side of the building today only coming out for occasional pets and cuddles. She was also excited to find one patch of remaining snow and roll in it When eh began to roll around she drew a lot of attention to herself and quickly leapt up and bolted back to the overhang where it was dry. I met her there, where we enjoyed cozying up to one another for warmth. Riley was sure to find us and join in on the fun, too. After some good team cuddles, the three of us made our way back into the yard for some more running and fun before we head indoors to the dry warmth. Riley and Roobee were more than happy to come up to the playroom this morning after their walk. The couch was the perfect place for this pair to dry off on this rainy day. Riley was the first to hop up and stretch out, while Roobee was busy sniffing around. They switched places after a little bit, though, and Roobee hopped up next to me for some belly rubs. Next, I got out the treat puzzle and Riley and Roobee put their minds to work, searching out all of the prizes in each compartment. Roobee decided to leave Riley to get the last of the snacks from the puzzle and came over to see me. She nosed at my pocket, which is where the remainder of the treats were hiding.

Iris and Louie are two of the cutest labs. It took me a moment to realize Iris used to come in without Louie. Louie sure has added to her fun loving personality, in the best of ways. This guy is so full of positive energy, and full of beans. He is constantly looking for something to do, or someone to cuddle and kiss. Iris is always sure to join in on whatever action he has found himself involved in. The pair has quickly grown to love the orange rubber Frisbee in the yard. Louie puts his nose to the ground looking for it as soon as he gets into that portion of the yard, knowing it must be around. As soon as he gets it he begins shaking it around, drawing a lot of attention to himself. Iris is never far behind, sure to snag the apposing end and begin tugging. They love to drag each other around the yard, playing some very friendly tug. This continues on forever, always happy to include their other friends. The duo was also very interested in the big red rubber ball today. It was hilarious watching them try to play tug with this, as it’s hard for two dogs to grasp a ball. Somehow, they managed to both get a hold of it and tug away. Iris had Louie on the ground in no time, where he began to roll around like a fish out of water. After endless amounts of toy fun, the pair met up with fellow black lab friend Chloe for some team fun. They were also happy to include Riley and set off on some fast loops around the yard. Before they knew it, their fellow husky group mates were involved in the fun too. This whole group was happy to have some tunnel fun, and some group wrestling and running before heading back indoors for a rest before walk time.

Today Chloe C. was absolutely hilarious. There wasn’t much I could do to keep her out of the mud puddles. Her behaviour reminded me a lot of how she acts in the summer when we have the pools out. Chloe loves to “bob for apples” in the pool, and she was doing the exact same in the mud puddle. She was continuously dipping her head in and out of the mud, pawing at the dirt, and bouncing around looking for her toy. She did give up after a while but at this point she was coated in dirt. Chloe left her toy hunt to join in on some husky fun. She has been especially playful with her group mate Nyxx, and was pleased to meet young Vega today, who really got her moving. These three raced all around the yard with company of daycare friend Percy. Chloe tried her hardest to discipline Vega, but ended up boxing and wrestling around with her. Nyxx was keen to join in on this too, and the three of them batted back and forth, sending water and mud flying everywhere. They were very fast on their feet as they bolted around the yard chasing each other around the tunnel, through the tunnel, over the tunnel and splashing through all the puddles. Chloe was very happy with her busy morning, but wasn’t so happy when I entered her kennel with a towel to clean her up. After a morning spent splashing around in the puddles, Chloe and I made our way into the playroom for some extra play time. Chloe did a lap around the room to find all of the best toys. She found the blue rubber toy that she always likes, and chewed on that for a little while. She spotted an orange ball across the room, though, and couldn't help but run over and grab it instead. This was a good choice, since the orange ball is so bouncy! Any time I threw the ball or Chloe dropped it, it went bouncing across the room and off the walls, sending her into a grand chase to catch it. She laid down on the floor to chew on it for a bit when the ball rolled away from her. Chloe sat and watched it very intently for a good two minutes before jumping up and running after the ball that was now sitting still in the middle of the room; she's so funny! In the midst of the chase, the ball rolled under the couch, and Chloe did everything in her power (pawing and barking at the couch) to get it out. With no success, Chloe turned to me for some help, and soon she was reunited with her prized toy.

Issy and Mocha really were not pleased about this weather. I am on the same page as these ladies; yesterday was such a tease for proper Spring weather. Mocha made it pretty clear that she wasn’t going to be too busy today. She made her way into the yard after some convincing, and briefly wandered around. She didn’t even take the time to say hello to all the dogs before making her way back to her signature corner where she was somewhat protected from the elements. Issy wandered around the yard with her nose to the ground, eager to see what smells she could find in the mud and snow. As she was wandering around she came across the handsome Nyxx, who gave her the time of day. She was a pretty big flirt with him, tossing her paws at his side and kissing his ear. It wasn’t long before Vega the puppy swooped in to interrupt their shenanigans. Issy gave Vega a very familiar looking motherly growl and then a nice swat. Vega knew exactly what that meant and then turned on her best behaviour for Issy. The pair walked around each other sniffing with high tails and perked ears, trying to familiarize themselves with one another. After some sniffing, Issy wandered off trying to ignore the puppy at all costs. Vega was sure to find her and invite her in for some games, however Issy made it clear she was much happier hanging out with Mocha in the driest portion of the yard.

Percy wasn’t too sure about heading out the door when he first arrived this morning. He stuck his nose out and then slowly made his way into the wet weather. Once he got to sniffing around, he forgot about the gloomy day and began to get excited. Percy let his nose take him around the yard, following all the smells that the big melt was uncovering. There was a lot to explore in the mud and in the puddles. Percy wasn’t shy to dig at the mud and splash around in the puddles. He was excited to see Vega come bolting into the yard and create a big scene upon arrival. Vega pounced and leaped all over the dogs with a smile on her face, eager to get them moving. Percy was more than happy to join in on this fun, racing in circles around her as she played with Nyxx and Chloe. After doing numerous laps around the busy puppy, Percy got right in on the action and began to box with her. They were up high on their hind legs until Nyxx came in and knocked them to the ground. This got Percy very worked up, in an excited manor, and he began to zip and zoom around the yard. He was happy to come in doors after to get a nice dry rest. When walks rolled around he was just as excited to head out for a stroll on the trail as he was to play around in the yard.

Some of our small four-legged guests weren’t necessarily thrilled about the abundance of rain coming down this morning! While Samson took his time to get out the door, daycare pals Merlin and Miko whipped by him and out into the yard with no hesitation, no amount of rain was going to stop these frisky boys from having a blast! Sure enough Miko and Merlin made there way all the way into the far yard by the time I got out there. Rudy and Xiaobao excitedly followed behind me as we tried to catch up to them! Then Cloud arrived, our sweet little daycare pup, he tried to catch up but found himself on the other side of the fence, he whined and cried on his hind legs not realizing all he had to do was go around! I got him to follow me around the fence and he was soon reunited with his all of his buddies that he tried so desperately to join! This is where the fun really began; Rudy, Merlin, Xiaobao and Cloud all joined forces and had an epic wrestle in the rain. Lots of grunting and dancing on their hind legs to be had as the four of them scurried along the yard with their tiny legs! Miko really enjoyed the company of Rudy; the two of them could have stayed outside all morning long if we let them. While gentle Merlin found a friend in little Cloud and the two of them danced around together until Cloud’s attention was distracted by his favourite red ball, puppy brain! By the time they were ready to come back inside, they were wet and soggy from the rain but excited to warm up on their cozy beds before it was time to head back outside again but this time for trail-walks!
Boris and Tasha could barely sit their bums on the ground for me when I politely asked before it was time to head out. The duo was so excited to motor out the door and into the yard. Boris was very quickly to sniff the perimeter of the yard, as he really wanted to get playing. Tasha really took her time to investigate all the smells in the yard as he doesn't often get to spend much time in this yard. She liked to to dig in the mud and press her muzzle into the fresh spring smells. Meanwhile, Boris was getting very frisky with his sister, Magic. These two are always eager to meet up and play around. As they got to wrestling and bumping, Tasha found Kyah sitting supervising. Tasha was rather flirty towards Kyah, which I thought was funny. She licked her ears and bumped her with her bum and then pawed at her side until Kyah gave in. These two set off for a brief bolt across the yard before Magic and Boris joined in. Soon, the big happy family was ripping and tearing around the yard like huskies do. They were quick to involved the tunnel and begin zipping through it and pouncing on top of it. The four were very chatty once on top of the tunnel and running through it, Kyah and Boris especially. Magic tried her hardest o knock her big brother off the tunnel, only to be scolded by her mom. This got Magic very excited sending her off with her bum tucked. Tasha was hot on her heels, bolting around in circle while Boris and Kyah wrestled. The new pairs didn't spend long apart before they met up once again for some team games. They continued their shenanigans for quite some time until they all found themselves hovering by the door, dripping wet, politely asking to return indoors.
