Max was absolutely thrilled to have Bella
join him during groups today, and let me tell you, Bella felt the exact same
way! Sometimes Bella prefers to hang out and relax; however when she meets the
right match she certainly is a little firecracker. Bella was so pleased to have
her bff, Justice, outside with her along with her new pal Max. Right off the
bat Max made his way to Bella to check her out. They stood side by side
sniffing one another over. It didn’t take long at all for Bella to politely paw
at Max’s side, which instantly started a wresting and boxing match. The pair
alternated swatting at one another, and dragging the other to the ground, all
in good fun of course. Their antics quickly drew a lot of attention to them
from their other group-mates and soon enough there was a big swarm of huskies
surrounding them. Max took this as a cue to bolt off and get a chase going.
Bella was right on his tail, followed by Justice, Sadie, Rosie and Isis. These
dogs are so agile, leaping over the tunnel, bounding across the yard, zipping
around boulders and over the picnic table, and even leaping over one another in
order to get ahead of the line. Today
these guys looped around the yard more times than I have ever seen. It was like
they had an energy drink before group time! After endless laps around the yard,
Max finally started to run out of gas, but his friends were still go, go, go.
His way of escaping was to dart into the tunnel and lay down. At this point,
the tunnel was a bit bunched up from all the jumping and running so Max had his
feet hanging out the end with his nose out the other end. Isis tried to climb
in with him while Sadie and Bella stood on the other end sticking their paws
and noses in trying to get him to come out and keep playing. Max seemed to
enjoy all the attention as he continued to lie there as his pals begged him to
play. Sadie and Bella decided not to wait around for him any longer and the
pair began to play just the two of them. Sadie was jumping around with Bella
before making her way to the picnic table. Bella didn’t follow Sadie onto the
picnic table, which didn’t bother Sadie one bit, as she loves to reign over all
her friends, owning the picnic table on her own. At this point, Bella set out
to meet up with her boyfriend Justice. This duo got up to their usual
shenanigans of flirting, which always turns into a good round of fun and games.
After some one on one running and wrestling, Max and all the huskies were back
at it with them. This group spent the remainder of their time outdoors zipping
and zooming around the yard kicking gravel and grass up as the flew around.
Amber and Iris looked so cozy in their
kennel today, I didn’t want them to move! The duo had their blankets on one cot
and they were cuddled in a ball together on top of them. It sort of looked like
the princess and the pea, simply adorable. Iris is always happy to hop out of
bed and get going into the yard for groups. Amber was great with Kinsey, as she
had to briefly convince her to head out of her kennel and into the yard. The
moment Amber was in the yard, she remembered how much fun she has been having
here. She instantly zoomed into the grass yard to catch up with her sister and
begin exploring. The duo stuck by one another’s side for the first portion of
groups, sniffing and investigating their territory. Iris made note of me
sitting on the picnic table across the yard, and slowly made her way to me. As
she got closer her whole bum began to wiggle. She gained the confidence to leap
up on the bench and then onto the table, where she sat on my lap and enjoyed
some cuddles. Iris supervised her friends sniffing around the yard, including Amber
who had her whole face deep in some grass picking up on a good scent. Soon
enough, Amber was by my side on the picnic table too. This duo loves being
cuddled in the warm sunshine. Later on, Iris made her way to my side where she
sprawled out on her back looking for some belly rubs. As I was rubbing her
belly a couple friends came to check her out, which set her off to bolt across
the yard. Iris had a good round of zoomies with daycare pal, Jock, as well as
Amber who slowly trotted behind following her sister. Before it was time to
head indoors, Iris gently climbed onto my lap and gave me some cute little
butterfly kisses.
Abbie and Jock enjoyed a walk this morning
with their pal Shelby. This duo was very occupied with all the smells along the
trail, as usual. They spent the majority of the walk trailing behind with their
noses in the grass, checking out all the scents the other dogs had left behind.
In the yard, Abbie and Jock were very occupied by their noses once again. They
spent the majority of the their time outdoors sniffing around as well as
digging in the grass along the outskirts of the yard. At one point, little Iris
had the zoomies, which briefly enticed Jock to zip around. He did one speedy
lap of the yard before he retreated to my side looking for some scratches. As
Abbie spotted me patting her brother, she too head to my side looking for some
snuggles. This pair was pleased to accept some cuddles before making their way
into the gravel yard to do some more exploring.
I have found what Casey really enjoys to do
for her extra attention time, and that is simply sit on the couch. Today I took
her out to our lounge, where it is very nice and calm and quiet. We have two
comfy couches out there, which she was quick to leap on and make herself at home.
She spent some time nuzzled right by my side resting her head on my lap,
enjoying nice pets down her side. She then took a break from me and hopped on
the other couch where she had a brief snooze. Casey then made her way back to
me and sat down right next to me, once again, where she was very happy to be
scratched behind her ears. Casey really benefits from the extra attention; she
loves being one on one with us and really loves the comfy couches. Too bad we
can’t bring a whole couch into her kennel; I bet she would love that! Casey
kept to herself most of the time in the yard today. She has been enjoying these
warmer afternoon days. I tend to find her sitting in the grass with her eyes
shut, soaking up the rays. Whenever she is offered a pat or cuddle in the yard,
she is sure to press her head against your side and happily accept the
attention.
Ranger was extra lucky this morning. He got
to accompany Merlin on a walk, but not any old walk, a walk with Susan! Susan
is always sure to take them on a nice adventurous stroll through the backfield
where the duo loves to sniff and explore in the longer grass and flowers.
Ranger loves to take his time and investigate all the territory he doesn’t
usually get to walk through. Ranger did much of the same in the yard today. He
loves to sniff and explore while he is outdoors, no matter what action is going
on around him. A couple of times his group-mate, Emma, offered to play with
him. Ranger politely declined by slowly walking away from the young, playful,
girl. He was very happy to make his way to my side and enjoy a great scratch
behind his ears. Later on, he lay down and basked in the warm fall sun where I
soon accompanied him and offered him a nice rub down his side and even some
pats on the belly.
Oakley is such a sweet girl, not to mention
so soft and easy to cuddle. Oakley was a very tolerant lady this morning, as
she accompanied Kane, the wild young Weimareiner on her walk. As you could
imagine, Kane is full of energy as he is only 6 months old. He kept Kinsey very
busy, leaping and bounding left and right while miss Oakley acted like such an
angel trotting right by Kinsey’s side. Oakley must have been thinking “what did
I do to deserve such a wild child?!” Despite the crazy youngling on her walk,
Oakley really enjoyed trotting along the trail. Come her group outing time, she
was happy to see that it had warmed up. She was quick to find me and nuzzle
into my side. A couple of her group-mates weren’t going to let her get away
with sitting around, and were very passionately about getting her to play.
Oakley briefly gave in to Awesome, an outgoing husky. These two had a brief
play session, bounding left and right, and then quickly bolting in one circle
around the yard. Awesome could tell that Oakley wasn’t as into the game as he
was, so he left her around. She was quick to make her way back to my side and
politely ask for some more pats. I didn’t begin to pet her instantly, so she
looped around behind me and stuck her head between my legs as if she were
saying “helloooooo, pay attention to me!” Of course, this got my attention, and
I began to cuddle and caress her until it was time to head indoors.
After arriving and settling in last night,
Emma W. was happy to be up and at it this morning! She met a new friend when it
was time for walks this morning, and they made fantastic trail partners. Emma
met her friend Tag once again out in the play yard. She watched the young dog
prance around before racing over to see her. The girls ran and ran all over the
yard, doing laps and changing directions at any given moment. Emma ran as fast
as her legs would carry her, with her ears flapping in the wind. She took a
quick break to sit and watch the other dogs continue to race around together. I
took this opportunity to go and say hello to Emma and to give her some ear
scratches and cuddles. She sat with me for a little while until our friend Jake
came trotting over to greet us. It was quite lovely to sit in the warm sun with
Emma and her friend, enjoying the beautiful weather and watching the dogs run
around. When Emma was recharged and ready to go, she hopped up from my side and
bolted after Tag and Finnigan once again. The chase lasted almost the rest of
our time outside together. The group flew from one end of the grass yard, all
the way around and back to the door to inside. Emma finished her time outside
sitting in the shade with Bella by her side.
Bella and Jake wiggled with excitement when
it was time to head out into the yard for group time this morning. These two
are just full of positive energy! We entered the yard together, but as soon as
Bella’s nose touched the ground she was off following a scent trail. Jake stuck
by me and we walked together out into the sunshine. Jake wasn’t quite sure what
he wanted to do first today. He looked up at me as if to ask for a head rub, so
I happily obliged. When he was satisfied, Jake continued on his way and went
out into the grassy part of the yard to watch the goings on out there. There
were a few dogs running around together and Jake wasn’t quite ready to join in,
so he stood and watched as they went flying by. Each time the group passed,
Jake would hop up and down and bark with excitement. After a few minutes of
refereeing, Jake hopped in on the action and started to chase his new friend,
Tag. Meanwhile, on the other side of the yard, Bella was very busy
investigating her surroundings. I called her over and she came trotting slowly
into the yard to join me. Bella stopped on her way to touch noses with Shelby
and Resa, before putting her nose to the ground once again. She heard someone
talking off in the distance, and listened very hard to figure out where it was
coming from. Bella found the right fence and stood to listen and occasionally
add her two cents to the conversation in the distance. Jake then took a break
from his play time and ventured over to see Bella once again.
Tag had an absolutely fantastic first day
of daycare! She started her morning off with a trail walk with her new friend,
Emma, with Susan in tow. These two made fast friends, and were very excited to
see one another in the yard a little bit later in the morning. Tag took only a
few seconds to sniff around the yard before Emma and another friend named
Finnigan approached her. The three stood and looked at each other for only half
a second before the chase began. Suddenly it was a blur of black and brown as
Tag, Emma and Finnigan flew around the yard together. When Tag decided she
needed to take a quick break, she would plop down on the ground to let the
others know, catch her breath, and hop right back up again. After doing many
laps around the yard, Tag slowed down a little bit to see which other friends
were roaming the grounds. She ran into another puppy named Shelby, who was just
as excited to meet her. Shelby and Tag stood nose-to-nose, sniffing one another
and wagging their tails. After a thorough greeting, Shelby took off running,
and once again, so did Tag. Finnigan and Emma noticed that the chase had
recommenced, and they bolted after Tag and Shelby to join in. Eventually Emma
and Shelby each split off to take a break, but Tag and Finnigan were
inseparable, and continued to run until they were completely out of breath.
Finnigan stopped and rolled over on his back, while Tag laid down facing him,
waiting for his next move. I sat down, too, and Tag didn’t hesitate to curl up
on my lap for some snuggles. She’s such a sweet little girl!
Little Miss Poppy was full of beans during
group time today! She made a new friend, a young Weimaraner named Kane, and he
got all of the dogs up and running. Poppy was drawn to him immediately and ran
straight to him to say hello. After sniffing one another for a brief moment,
Poppy hopped up on her back feet to face Kane, and the wrestling match began!
Kane rolled over and hopped back up, tearing off in the opposite direction.
Poppy didn’t hesitate to bolt after him as fast as her legs would carry her.
She and Kane ran and ran, back and forth and around the tunnel together. Their
antics caught the other dogs’ attention, and a few friends joined in the fun.
Finnigan, Haley and Teddy all started to gather around Kane and Poppy, and the
chase was on again in no time. Poppy did one big lap of the yard, and then
decided she would cut her loop short and beat all of her friends back towards
the tunnel. The fun went on for another little while before Poppy needed to
take a break and cool down. I sat on the rock next to where Poppy had settled,
and gave her some head and back scratches while we watched the other dogs
continue to run around. She closed her eyes and soaked up some sun until she
was refreshed and ready to get back into the action. I got up with Poppy, and
off she went, back to chase after her friends.
