Groups

Poppy couldn't wait to get outside for group time. She went running out to the far yard to start exploring along the fence line. As Poppy came upon a section with some particularly tasty grass she spent some time sampling it. Once she had had enough of the grass Poppy headed back out to tour around the yard some more. She stopped mid step when her nose found what was apparently an amazing rolling spot. Poppy threw herself to the ground and started rolling around. Feeling all frisky Poppy went running off to meet up with Glory. It didn't take long for the two of them to go racing off together. When Poppy needed a break she made her way over to me for some pets and attention. It wasn't long before she left me to go and play with Glory once more.

Sophie was quite eager to make her way outside for group time. She took took off trotting around the yard. As Sophie went trotting past me she had a huge smile on her face. She then decided to stop and check in on what some of the others were up to. Sophie spent some time with Poppy by the fence exploring in the grass and checking Poppy over. Once she was satisfied she'd checked it all over thoroughly, Sophie made her way into the other yard to tour around and see what all was going on. When she'd done a couple laps, Sophie made her way back to the far yard to see if there was anything she had missed. It didn't take her too long to make her way over to me wanting some pets and attention. After she'd had enough Sophie headed back out to really make sure she'd seen everything.

Abby and Dudley are quite the pair. They were full of energy on their walk and still had plenty left over when we headed outside for groups. Both of them wasted no time racing out of their kennel to say hello to the other dogs and I. Dudley then made his way out to the yard while Abby bounced around at my feet, waiting for attention. I scooped her up and we went out the door together. Even after I had set her down on the grass, Abby was still stuck to my side like glue. She happily greeted the dogs that went by and then sat down for some cuddles with me. Abby could hardly sit still while I was petting her. Once she was satisfied, we headed over to the picnic table, where Abby wasted no time climbing up beside Rufus and Vanna. Abby gave them both a sniff and then surveyed the yard. She barked encouragement at a few of the dogs who were running around, and then decided to go run around herself. Dudley, meanwhile, was entertaining himself with a big exploration of the yard. He made sure to sniff every rock, every patch of grass and every dog with no exceptions. In the process of sniffing, he got in the middle of a game of chase between Kado and Rudy, and was happy to join in for a brief while. He wrestled with Rudy and then sat back to watch as Rudy jumped on Kado. Then Dudley wandered in my direction, looking for some attention. He enjoyed a nice back rub and lounged around with me for a bit, before going back to join Kado and Rudy again. Abby returned to the picnic table, this time with Rufus and Sherman, and sat up there until it was time to head inside. Dudley busied himself for the rest of group time by investigating the picnic table and playing with his new friend Rudy.

There was a lot going on in the small dog world today and Buddy was not to be left out! He was raring to go right from the start of the morning. After breakfast, Buddy enjoyed a nice walk with his friends, and then it was extra attention time, followed by groups. Buddy was ready and waiting when I let him out of his kennel to join his group. He hurried out into the yard with the rest of the dogs and immediately set to work exploring. Buddy must have covered the entire yard before he paused for a break. There were quite a few dogs in a playful mood today, and most of his group was racing laps around the yard. He seemed quite excited but was content to sit back and watch while the others ran around. I made my way over to him and we sat together for a bit; Buddy was happy for the attention and snuggled up beside me for a cuddle. Then, he seemed to get a sudden burst of energy. Buddy bounced away and play-bowed, asking me to chase him. Every time I got close to him, he would leap up and run to a new spot. He continued this until we reached the door, where some of his group mates were sniffing around. There, Buddy settled down and came over to me for some pets. He was happy to cuddle, socialize and explore for the rest of group time!

Olive seemed to be in such a good mood today. She was buzzing with energy this morning, and even after her walk, she was still bouncing around when we headed out for groups. Olive decided to accept the role as welcoming committee for a few of her new group mates. She happily gave Rudy a sniff and then moved on to Vanna, one of our shyer guests, whom Olive quickly took under her wing. She gave her a sniff and then play-bowed, encouraging her new friend to play. When Vanna declined her offer, Olive was happy to follow her around and introduce her to the other dogs instead. Eventually Vanna wandered off, so Olive headed to the grassy yard where some of the dogs were running around. She would pounce at the dogs whenever they got near her, although otherwise Olive was content to stand in one spot and cheer them on. She made her way over to me for some cuddles and happily sat down while I gave her a nice scratch behind the ears. We went to the picnic table and Olive set out to explore the area while I took pictures. Once everything had been sniffed, Olive wandered back in my direction for more attention. She got plenty of cuddles and headed back to the other yard, where Vanna and a couple dogs were hanging out. Olive decided to stick with them until we headed inside.

Extra Attention

Buddy was super excited for his extra attention this morning. He was snuggled up on his bed when I went to collect him, but he quickly jumped up as he realized what time it was. I put on his leash and then we headed out front to explore the grass. Buddy was interested in the new area and immediately set to work sniffing everything. I found a toy in the grass for him, and he quickly bounced over, looking like he wanted to play, though when I threw the toy he just watched it. We cuddled for a while and Buddy snacked on some treats after I had him sit and lie down for them. After Buddy was satisfied with a back rub, he seemed to have more energy and we went for a stroll down the driveway. Then we headed inside to explore the reception with his friends Abby and Dudley, and he got plenty more cuddles from everybody!

Abby and Dudley are always so excited for their extra attention time. They are both huge love bugs and want all the pets they can get. About two seconds after I  had sat down Abby had launched herself at me demanding love while also trying to kiss me, tongue and all. Dudley not wanting to be forgotten sat at my feet and demanded some loving for himself. Our volunteer joined us and Abby and Dudley were more than happy to go to see him for some attention. Abby finally decided she'd had enough for the moment and went off to explore around the room. Dudley took this opportunity to monopolize all the attention. I pulled out a couple toys to see if they wanted to play. Abby quite liked the stuffingless fox and we had a good little game of tug. I then tossed it and it landed on Dudley who didn't seem to mind his new fashion accessory. It wasn't long before Abby was wanting more love. To end their time up front we had a little photoshoot in the chair.
