Sunday October 2nd, 2016

Abby and Dudley were pretty happy to realize it wasn't raining anymore when it came time for group. They headed outside and went to see what some of the others were up to. Abby became rather interested in what Olive was up to when she spotted her stretching. After she had thoroughly looked Olive over, Abby went trotting off to see where Dudley had gotten to. Dudley had been heading out to the far yard, but got distracted by something in the grass. Abby went trotting over to join him. Dudley was about to move onto another spot when he was stopped by Rudy who wanted to play with him. I don't think he was quite sure what he wanted to do at first, but Dudley quickly got in the spirit and soon they were having a lot of fun wrestling. Abby left her brother to his antics and headed out to do some more exploring. She then made her way back over to where Olive and Buddy were by the door. Rudy ended up leaving Dudley to go running after her and seeing if maybe she might want to play with him. Like her brother it took Abby a minute to think it over before she started to bounce around with Rudy. It wasn't long before they took off running. They ended up out in the far yard where Abby launched herself at the picnic table. Rudy didn't follow her up so he turned his attention back to Dudley, who was rather okay with that. Abby pretty much stayed on the picnic table for the rest of our time outside, while saying hello to the dogs who went over to check on her. Dudley eventually needed a break from Rudy and headed out to do some more exploring.
Earlier in the morning it had been time for Abby and Dudley's extra attention. They both went charging up to the front to see what was going on in the front room. It didn't take long for Abby to find someone to give her pets and quickly ended up in Alyssa's lap demanding love and giving her lots of kisses. Dudley was a little more sedate in his quest for pets and attention. Once Abby left Alyssa's lap she quickly ended up in mine giving me the same treatment. Dudley sat at my feet waiting for more pets. It didn't take long for him to realize Abby was hogging all the love and to put his feet up so I could reach him more easily. Once Abby had calmed down a bit she was happy to just hang out. Dudley decided to curl up under my chair and hang out with us that way.

Olive got outside and decided to start her group time with some stretches. She caught Abby's eye, who then came over to see what Olive was up to. Olive finished up her stretches and took a little tour around the yard. When she ended up back near the door Abby joined her once more and they spent some time together. Abby eventually left, but Olive seemed content to hang out with Buddy by the fence. It soon became time for some more stretches apparently. Olive stretched herself as far as she could front and back. She then headed out to do some more exploring around the main yard. Once she had thoroughly checked out that yard Olive made her way out to the far yard to see what was going on there. She checked in with Abby, who was hanging out on the picnic table before going to explore in the grass.

Buddy wasn't quite sure he wanted to go outside for group, but I managed to convince him. Once he realized it wasn't raining anymore he perked right up and was more than happy to head out and do some exploring. Buddy made his way all around the main yard with his nose to the ground checking everything out most thoroughly. When he was finished Buddy made is way back to Olive, who was over by the door. They spent some time hanging out together. They weren't alone long as Rudy went running over to see how he was doing. After socializing for a while Buddy decided it was time to go and do some exploring in the far yard. He took a little break to come have a visit with me. After Buddy had gotten some pets he headed back out to explore some more.

Sophie seems to really be enjoying her stay with us. When I went to get her for her walk she ran around her kennel with joy as she saw the leashes in my hand. As we made our way down the hall she barked hello to all of her pals, then made her way out the door. As we walked through the yards she sniffed around quickly then made her way happily to the field. As we walked through the wet field Sophie touched her nose to the sky to let the rain sprinkle on her face. Sophie stopped a few times to walk through the tall grass and to sniff around in the hay, but her main focus was to keep walking as the rain had begun to pick up. When we got back inside Sophie shook off all the rain and crawled up in her nice warm bed. When it was time to go out with her group, Sophie ran down the halls as fast as she could, and straight out the door to see all her pals. After saying hello to everyone, Sophie made her way around the yards, sniffing as she went. As she sniffed around she sat back and watched Tsavo and Cai wrestling around on the ground, before she ran over to bark at them a few times. After thoroughly sniffing the yard, Sophie came over to me for a quick cuddle before it was time to go back inside.

Casey is really starting to come out of her shell as her stay progresses. This morning when I went to get her for her walk she jumped out of bed as soon as she saw the leashes in my hand and ran to her kennel door. After I hooked her up, Casey ran down the hall, excited to get her day started. Once we got outside, Casey pranced along beside me while we walked through the yards, but as soon as we got to the field she ran full speed ahead with her pals. As we walked along, Casey made sure to stop a few times to sniff around in the hay, but then she decided to play around with her pals for a little bit. After playing around with everyone we made our way back inside and Casey went to curl up in her bed. When it was time to go out for her group Casey ran to the door as if there was no tomorrow and straight outside with her friends. As she walked around the yard she watched her friends play around, but she had no interest in joining in. As we walked around the yard, Casey stayed by my side for most of the group but before it was time to go back inside she made sure to go sniff around for a bit.
A little later, Casey was more than ready for it to be time for her extra attention. I grabbed a leash and we headed out front for an adventure. I decided to let Casey go where ever she wanted to go. After a little bit of touring we made our way over to the long line so she could have a little more freedom. Casey didn't really want to play and seemed more interested in the stuff beyond the long line so I leashed her back up and we headed off once more. Since it was kind of misting outside Casey and I didn't stay out too long so we headed inside. Casey was more than happy to do a little exploring inside before she settled down to get lots of pets and attention.

Poppy loves coming to stay with us here at Tails & Trails. When I grabbed her harness for her walk she spun around, then sat and waited patiently for me to put it on her. After we go out of her kennel, Poppy ran down the hall with excitement as we made our way outside. Once we got outside Poppy went straight to sniff around. When we got to the field, Poppy spent the first little bit of her walk just sniffing around. After sniffing around Poppy ran ahead, so we jogged along as she kept her nose to the ground. After jogging for most of the walk Poppy decided to slow it down so that she could thoroughly examine some flowers, before she went back inside. When it was time to go out with her group Poppy ran along side her pals Dragon and Gryphon through the hallways. When she got outside, Poppy said hello to all of her pals before running around the yard to sniff. After spending most of the group sniffing around, Poppy came over to me and we spend some time cuddling before it was time to go back inside.

Buddy and I had a great time during his extra attention today. We started off sniffing around in reception, before Buddy heard the sound of the cookie jar opening. After I gave him a few treats Buddy ran over to the toy bin to find a toy to play with. When he found the perfect one, he ran over to me and we played tug of war before I threw it around for him. After playing with the toy Buddy and I spent some time cuddling on the chair and he got a few more treats. Before it was time to go back to his kennel, Buddy’s friends came up to join him and they all chased each other around and played for a few minutes.
