Saturday October 15th, 2016

Tasha and Boris went trotting outside ready to get their group time started. Tasha was quickly distracted by something on the ground and stopped to give it a thorough once over. Boris wasted no time in racing out to the far yard to see what was going on out there. It wasn't long before he had his nose glued to the ground entranced by something in the grass. Tasha finsihed up with the main yard and went trotting out to join the others in the far yard. Boris left off his exploring to go and check in with her. The two of them then headed out to do a little exploring together around the yard. Boris was soon ready to play. He noticed Molly running around and went racing after. They went tearing around the yard having a great time. Tasha was content to continue exploring for the moment. Boris took a break from running to do a little more exploring. When he was done Boris took off running once more. Tasha decided now was the time to play and went racing after him. It wasn't long before they were also joined by Justice. The three of them all had a blast racing around and wrestling.
For Tasha's training we did more walking on this beautiful day! I used a slip lead today and Tasha was an absolute angel. Once we go back, we practiced some duration work, and had Tasha lay quietly beside me while various people walked by and even took things out of the drawer inches from her face. Tasha had to be reminded a couple of times that she needed to stay in a down until released, but she did amazing and enjoyed being released to say hello to everyone and get a few treats as a reward. Outside we saw Justice coming down the driveway with Leah and Tasha's radar went off. She knew from far away that her boy was out there. I asked her to sit and down while he walked toward us and then she got to say an excited hello as well as a don't forget I'm your mom, young man.
Boris and Tasha had a very busy morning. They started off with a walk with Justice and Delaney trotting around the frosty trail enjoying the cool weather. When they got back from their walk they got to head straight up front with me for some extra attention. They raced into the playroom knowing exactly where to go! They did a thorough sniff over of the room making sure not to miss a thing. We tried out some toys that Boris was excited to pounce after when I threw them this didn't last long because Tasha wanted to wrestle! The mother son duo twisted and turned and bounced all over the room. Jumping from the chair to the couch and then another loop around the room. They continued this for a while before it was time to take a break. Tasha settled down in the floor to have a quick nap while Boris enjoyed some cuddles from me and did some more exploring around the room.
Lola went racing out the door so excited to get out for group time. She spent some time saying hi to the rest of her group. Lola then decided to head out and do some exploring around the jump before heading out to investigate things in the grass. After she hand toured around the main yard she headed out to join the others in the far yard. Lola spent some time following Tain around then made her way over to check on Vanna. She headed out to do a little more exploring. Lola finished up with her exploring and headed over to see what Vega was up to. About two seconds after that the two of them were having wrestle mania. Lola and Vega were having a grand old time beating each other up. Soon they took off racing around the yard.
Jemma was bursting with energy today, just as I expected. She is a great dog to have in the yard as she loves everyone and gets the rest of the group playing. First thing in the morning, Jemma was racing around on the frosty grass with her friend Mowgli. It took a bit of persuading to get the pair inside again! After walks, she and Mowgli reunited along with some new friends. Jemma and husky Korvo immediately hit it off and were chasing each other around as soon as they got out the door. She would flop over on her back and roll back and forth while Korvo jumped around, and then Jemma would leap to her feet and dive towards him. They had plenty of fun wrestling and were panting like crazy when they finally slowed down. Jemma trotted over to me for some cuddling. She is such a sweetheart and practically climbed into my lap while I attempted to pet her. Jemma followed me around and inspected all of the pictures I took, while enjoying plenty of scratches behind the ear. Eventually she was rested and went prancing back to Korvo. He, however, was spending time with Maya, so Jemma moved on to Mowgli again. Both of them were rolling around on the ground with feet and tails flying. Then they would bounce to their feet and tackle each other again. Then Jemma was sailing across the yard with Mowgli right on her tail, and Korvo, Maya and Ivy were close behind them. It was quite a fun day with Jemma!
Jemma had a really special extra attention time today because all the staff came in this afternoon and she got to hang out with everyone. She made herself comfy in the chair and supervised us all and then found a big delightful bone in the toy box. She laid at our feet in the midst of a circle and chewed away on her bone happily. Everyone gave her pets and Jemma was very happy being part of the group.

Tobin is such a delight to have in the yard; he is always full of smiles! Today, he got to hang out with a few huskies in his group, and met his new favourite best friend: Rosie. Tobin followed her everywhere. Both of them were having slower days today due to sore feet, although Tobin still play-bowed to Rosie and they occasionally rubbed shoulders while sniffing around together. Whenever Tobin wasn’t by Rosie’s side, he could be found with his nose in the grass, hunting away for something interesting to smell. I called his name to get his attention for pictures, and then Tobin immediately appeared beside me for some cuddles. He is quite the happy guy. Tobin enjoyed a nice back rub and then we went for an adventure around the yard together, saying hello to the rest of his group. We ended up in the middle of a game of chase between Jemma, Mowgli and Korvo, and Tobin was quick to start cheering them on. He would bark at them and then look over his shoulder at me as if to ask if I was seeing this. Once the other dogs had settled down again, Tobin was content to move on. We headed over to the tunnel that was full of interesting smells and Tobin wandered around for a bit. Eventually Rosie reappeared and cheerfully returned to her spot beside Tobin to keep him company while the pair explored together. Tobin was in a great mood today and certainly enjoyed himself in the yard! For his extra attention time, Tobin and I started off in a patch of sunlight in the playroom. As soon as I started petting him, I noticed he was shedding a lot of hair so I went and grabbed a Zoom Groom, a nifty rubber brush that so many dogs love, and Tobin was no exception. Eventually we both thought it would be fun to change gears so we headed outside and took a nice walk down the driveway and around the field. Tobin sniffed things very very seriously and I let him take as much time as he wanted. Back inside he said hello to everyone, got some more pets and then just hung out for awhile. When it was time for his group, he headed back with Delaney.

Duke was great to have outside this morning, as it’s getting a bit chillier and he’s a big, warm dog that was very happy to cuddle with me. We enjoyed a nice walk later in the morning with his friends Indi and Molly, and Duke spent most of the walk with his nose to the grass. He was zigzagging back and forth while Indi and Molly bounced around together. After walks, when it was time for groups, Duke headed over to the far corner of the yard and immediately started sniffing. He was like a man on a mission today! All of a sudden, Duke heard a weird sound on the other side of the fence and was immediately standing beside it, listening closely. He wandered up and down the fence, trying to identify the source of the noise. I called him over and Duke spun around, forgetting all about the noise and racing towards me. He was delighted by all of the attention I showered him with. Occasionally Duke doesn’t remember how big he is and starts thinking that he could be a lap dog. I knelt down to take a picture of him and Duke wasted no time diving into my lap. He’s just like a giant teddy bear. We cuddled for a while and then Duke ended up wandering towards the door, where he met up with Outlaw and Tucker to sniff around. They slowly made their way to the middle of the yard with their noses working away. There, Duke decided to put his mission on hold again and socialized for a bit with Indi and Casper, until it was time to head inside.
