Boris and Tasha are excited to be here. Little do they know, they’re staying a couple nights and the fun will continue on for days! Boris and Tasha were excited to see that they were in a new group today. Rather than being accompanied by only huskies, they joined a different daycare group. I was so happy to see Boris and Tasha run around greeting all their group mates with wagging tails. I was very surprised to see Kimi zoom over to Boris and take the initiative to ask him to play! I wonder if Kimi knows that Boris is actually a half sibling of hers. Boris never passes up the opportunity to play, and gave in to the game invite right away. This duo was fun to watch; I haven’t seen Kimi so active in a while. This pair started off by gently pawing at one another, testing to see if they were serious about the games. Finally, Boris made his move and leaped on Kimi. Kimi was quick to tuck her but and zoom off across the yard. Of course Boris was right on her tail, and they were so fast to get the whole group following. Soon enough, Kimi and Boris had Tasha, Kyah, Justice, and Spencer swarmed around them. Boris was intrigued by Justice and Kyah weaving in and out of the play structure, and tried to get Kimi interested in it too. Kimi wasn’t going to enter the structure with Kyah, so she stood around the outside supervising her buddies play. After Boris had his fun with his other siblings, he fond Kimi and started games with her again. This duo continued to goof around the duration of playtime, occasionally including their other friends. Right before it was time to come indoors, Boris ran into Issy. I got a good laugh watching him try and flirt with her. Issy wasn’t going to take his shenanigans, and told him off quite firmly. He obviously didn’t realize that she is his grandma!! Throughout all of groups today, Tasha supervised most of the games. She darted in and out of a couple groups, but never committed to playing with one dog. I got a laugh watching her try to play with Spencer. Spencer really wasn’t interested in her shenanigans, so Tasha left him to go play with all her husky relatives. Boris and Tasha were pretty excited to head up to the playroom for their extra attention time. As soon as we got in the room they went running around to see what was going on in the room. After Boris and Tasha had checked everything out I showed them the toys. Boris was pretty happy and waited impatiently for me to throw one. I gave a toss and he went and pounced in it. Boris then left the toy and came back to me so I could toss another toy for him to pounce on. We did this a couple times while Tasha watched. She then decided it was time to play and went and launched herself at her son. They took off around the room wrestling. After they'd burned off some energy Boris came over for some pets and attention. Tasha not wanting to be left out came over for a quick pat of her own then turned to Boris to begin wrestling once more. This happened a couple times till Tasha decided she really did want lots of pets. Boris left us and went to check out the chair in the room. And he hopped right up to make sure he checked out everything. Tasha is always such a spitfire when it comes to her training. She is so eager to please that sometimes she forgets to actually listen to the commands and makes her own up! We started off with a quick walk down the driveway but kept it short because of the damp cold winds, once she got some of her beans out with the walk we headed to the nursery to work on her basic commands and a bit of recall. I let her check out the room first since she was super excited to jump into the whelping boxes hopping in and out. Once she settled down and was ready to focus again I asked her to show off her sits and downs, which of course she did with enthusiasm, especially if there was a treat at the end. We practiced this a few times before I started asking her to “stay” and “come”. Tasha is fantastic with her stay, but she gets so excited waiting for you to call her that she tends to jump the gun a little bit. I worked on her patience and reinforcing her release word. At the beginning anything from “Apple” to “Pear” she would hop up and run over to me, but she quickly realized that this wasn’t what I wanted. With a few repetitions she soon understood that “come” was the word I wanted her to release on. We headed back inside to try it in a different setting before heading back to her kennel for the afternoon.
Teddy was very happy to be apart of a crazy group today. This group was mostly huskies, along with his regular daycare pals Teddy and Spencer. Huskies are very busy players, which kept Teddy the herder on his toes for the entire group. He spent the whole time outdoors zipping and zooming around the wrestling and boxing. Teddy always ensures to be in control of the games, or so he thinks. Today when one of the wrestling matches broke off into a chase and all the huskies zoomed right passed him and bolted away he looked very shocked, almost as if he had been defeated. He was fast to catch up to them and get back on top of supervising the group. Teddy is always happy to have Percy by his side to help when needed. Teddy is also always sure to stop his job for a brief period of time to come hang out with me. He is such a suck for a good cuddle as well as a nice scratch under his chin. Our cuddles never last long, as he insists on zooming back to his friends after a short break. I love how Teddy’s tongue flops around as he runs around, his funny faces make for some great photos!
Percy was very excited to get here this morning, as usual. He zoomed down the hall and quickly got comfortable in his kennel, patiently awaiting is walk. Percy always enjoys his morning walk, whether he spends his walk with his nose the ground or motoring full speed ahead, he always comes back with a smile on his face. There was a lot of action going on his Percy’s group today. Of course his instinct was to run around all the games barking, trying to control the action. I know that the best way to distract Percy is by offering him a ball, and it worked like a charm today! He loved having the option of two balls today, an orange one and a pink one. He had a tough time choosing which one he wanted more so he continuously alternated back and forth, dropping one for the other. He loved so zoom in and out of the tunnel with the ball in his mouth, always double-checking to see if I was watching him. If I took my eye off of him for a minute he would show up at my feet asking for me to pay attention to him. We played lots of fetch today, which tired him out enough to go join in on the games without chatting away. He had a good time playing referee while his husky friends zoomed around the yard and wrestled intensely. Percy loved supervising all the action with his other herding friend Teddy near by.
Spencer was so playful today! I think he was very excited to be apart of a group with some new friends. He was so excited when he got into the yard to see so many new faces as well as some familiar faces. When he first got into the yard he trotted around with Percy and Teddy who he knows very well. After hanging out with them and doing some exploring, he noted all the action going on between the huskies in his group. He was ventured over and check them out. He was instantly in love with Kyah, the red Siberian husky in the photos. Normally Spencer waits for a dog to make a move on him, but today he was the one taking initiative. He began dancing around Kyah, pouncing left and right trying to get her to play. She finally play-bowed back, and that got the games going. This duo sprinted in circles around the main yard, lapping around the play structure and weaving through it too. They were so fast and agile with their games it was hard to get good pictures. Finally, they slowed down and started to wrestle. Kyah loves to paw at dogs, and today was no exception. She sat still pawing at Spencer’s face, and then hopped up onto his back with her paws wrapped around his side. Spencer was very smooth and ducked away from her then leaped right back at her looking for some more wrestling. Soon enough, Justice and Tasha were in on the games too. Spencer was thrilled to be apart of so much action. He continued to wrestle and run around with his husky friends all the way into the agility yard, where Kyah jumping on the tunnel pleasantly surprised him. Spencer took a moment to understand what she was doing up there. He eventually figured out it was all-apart of the game, and then continued goofing around with her. The duo stuck pretty close to one another for their whole time outdoors, keeping each other very busy and offering one another great company. Spencer seemed to fit in very well with our outgoing, playful husky group.
Issy and Mocha really aren’t too sure about this cooler weather. The duo was much happier staying indoors, curled up on a comfy cot, rather than out in the windy yard. Mocha took cover the moment we got outdoors. She seemed pretty happy to have access to both yards, where there were numerous areas to sniff and hide. It didn’t surprise me to see her tucked away in her favourite outdoor kennel, seeking as much cover from cool weather as possible. After some convincing, Mocha followed me out into the grassy yard and did some exploring. Issy did surprise me today, as she instantly zoomed out into the yard and began dancing around with all of her husky friends. I think she was very excited to see Tasha and have her company. This duo did some sniffing and exploring side by side for a little bit, before Issy broke off on her own to continue investigating the yard. Every once in a while, Issy would check in with Mocha, ensuring she was doing fine in the other yard. At the end of groups as I was getting all the dogs into the same yard, Issy ran into Boris her grandson. Boris was very quick to start flirting with miss Issy. Issy was very surprised by his bold behavior and was quick to shut him down. Boris wasn’t going to take no for an answer, at first. Issy was very persistent in telling him she did not want to play or flirt and continued to put him in his place. With much disappointment, Boris finally gave up and went to Tasha for some comfort.
Little Lola had another fun-filled day with her partner Vega, always by her side. These two little fur balls started their morning off together with a nice trail walk, if you can call it a walk that is. These two love to wrestle and play every chance they can get even if it means during their walk time. We’re lucky these two are still small otherwise I think we would be dragging behind them in the field! Next it was time for Lola’s first outdoor outing of the morning and as you can suspect she zoomed off into the far field, Vega not far behind her. Although these two seem to always be in a world of their own, they provide much entertainment and amusement for the other guests who watch with excitement as these two run circles around them. Lola’s favorite spot to play is the tiny picnic table in the yard. It’s like an obstacle course for them and she loves to jump up then all the way back down to meet Vega on the underside for a good wrestling match. Once underneath, she will poke her head out and entice the others to try and get to her. All I can see is paws and little noses poking out. Next its time to zoom around the yard as fast as she can and see how many followers she can get and sure enough she has Emma and Vega wiggling behind her. It’s so nice to see such a bond between Lola and Vega, even when they are apart I can see Lola scanning the yard and locking eyes with Vega from a distance. Emma, another energetic lady joined both Vega and Lola in the yard this morning. Emma seems to be one of the only ones who can keep up with these two as she has such a playful personality and just loves to join in on the chase action. In fact Emma gets along well with all of the other guests and is happy to be in such good company. She enjoys being in the centre of all the action whether its chasing the two little huskies around, playing hide and seek under the picnic table or having a wrestling match with the ever adorable Shadow. She is also quite the beautiful little lady and is very photogenic, all around such a pleasant pup.
Bella and Jake the little sister-brother duo were happy to be back in our care today and could hardly wait to get out for their morning trail walk, however I think they were just as happy to come back inside for a morning cuddle after feeling that crisp fall breeze. Jake tends to be the more playful one of the pair, and after a little enticing he was out running around the yard with his good pal Shadow who just adores him. Bella on the other hand is definitely the cuddlier one of the duo and how could you not resist kissing that little sweet face. She loves to follow me around the yard as we snap pictures of the others but she also knows to tell me when she wants to go back in for lunch! She will run over to the door and patiently wait alongside Rocky who prefers to lounge away from the action. Rocky is joined by his Maya who appears to be shy at times but once you get her out in the yard can be just as energetic as the others. Jake, Shadow and Emma were great playmates for her as they are very gentle with their play but exciting enough to get Maya’s bum wagging. I made sure to go over and give Rocky some company and extra pets while he lounged out by the door but you can see he is quite content roaming the yard on his own time and enjoys watching the others from a distance.
Tobin was excited for his extra special attention this morning as I think he remembered how fun it was the day before. First stop was the indoor playroom where he sniffed around and made sure to take a look at every toy on the ground. He didn’t care too much to actually play with the toys but he would happily follow me around for some extra pets and cuddles on the couch. Next was a one on one walk out in the front yard. This gave him the opportunity to sniff out the yard on his own pace and get that extra attention that he adores so much. His true energy comes out when he is with his buddies out in the yard, however. Duke, Tsavo and Cai joined him today and they were quite the energetic and vocal bunch. Tobin loves to be part of the pack and follow them around and makes sure to howl and bark when the others do as if they were having a good conversation! Tsavo and Cai joined us this morning and were thrilled to spend time outdoors with so many different friends and personalities. They especially loved Mowgli who is just a young pup but I think they could sense his playful spirit. Tsavo and Cai also love being part of a pack and together they would roam the yard making sure to stop and say hi to everyone along their way. Duke on the other hand doesn’t care to be part of a pack or in the centre of the action but would prefer to roam the yard on his own terms. He especially loves to head over to the fence that faces the driveway so he can see people coming in and out. I always make sure to call him over and he happily runs over with his big tongue hanging out for a quick pet but then its back to roaming and sniffing out the yard. He is also very pleasant and gently with his friends in the yard but he’s a busy boy and always wants to know what’s going on on the other side of the fence!
