Sunday October 23rd, 2016

Jemma and Poppy spent almost the whole day together today and they just couldn't get enough of each other. It all started on their morning walk. The two girls have been in the same play group for a few days now but they've never walked together. Today the two of them, as well as another friend, were definitely very excited to get out and start walking. As soon as they saw each other in the hall it was game on. Poppy raced out the door with Jemma right on her tail. The two girls started racing laps around me as if I wasn't even there. They kept taking turns as to who was chasing to but for the most part, Poppy was in the lead with Jemma chasing her. This continued on for the most part of their walk however they did also both enjoy coming to see me every so often. When it came time for their outdoor play group, they were both placed in the same group once again, how exciting! This time however they didn't start off their group by being stuck like glue... That came at the end. To starts of her group time Jemma raced outside and greeted all of her old and some new friends. She immediately hit it off with so many of the dogs in her group. Jemma spent a variety of time playing with different friends but enjoyed whoever would tackle and race around with her the best. Eventually Jemma came over to me for a little while when I had picked up a fun colored rope toy. As soon as Jemma saw it she knew that she had to have it and raced right over to me to get it. This led to a pretty fun game of keep away and then tug-of-war. Poppy had a different approach to the outdoor play group. She decided that she get the layout of the land first and gave everything a quick sniff. Poppy had her nose stuck to the ground as she ventured around the yard while trying to find any little bug that she could. Once her overall sniff was over, Poppy decided it was play time. She immediately started doing laps around the yard in order to see who wanted to play with her. Poppy played with some many different friends today that it was hard to keep track. She especially loved racing around the yard as much as possible. This is why Jemma and Poppy hit it off so well. Once the two of them saw each other running, they took off like bullets one after the other. Poppy was once again leading the way while Jemma followed. Every so often they'd stop to completely play tackle one another but they'd start running around again soon enough. After they had stopped racing around with each other for short time, Poppy came over to cuddle with me and warm up a little bit.

Keegan had another awesome day today. He was completely full of beans from the moment he woke up. When I went down the hall to let him out for his first outing, Keegan was already up and waiting at the door for me to come get him. As soon as I let him out, he didn't race out the door but instead he raced down the hallway  to see all of his friends coming out of their kennels. He greeted everyone and sniffing along the kennels before going outside. During this morning outing Keegan loved to show me his big voice. He would trot right up to me just barking and howling away. Keegan was always trying to get me to follow him around and give his as many cuddles as he could get. When it came time for his morning walk, Keegan was just as happy to go outside. He was so excited t go that he was jumping up at his kennel door in anticipation. Once he had his leash on and was ready to go, Keegan sprinted out the door. He got a one on one walk with our new volunteer which he loved because he got so many back scratches and the occasional pat on the head whenever he'd run back to see her. When he wasn't focused on his new friend, Keegan had his nose to the ground, sniffing away at any little thing he could find on the trail. After his walk was done, Keegan had the chance to get in a morning snooze before his outdoor play group came along. Later on, when I went to let him out, I thought I'd find him all cuddled up in his blankets. However he was still waiting at his kennel door just like usual. This time he raced directly out the door and into the yard as fast as he could. He immediately began sniffing everything and everyone that crossed his path. I tried to get Keegan to play with a few toys but he wasn't very interested. He did however enjoy racing around the yard at one point with a few of his friends. Towards the end of his group, Keegan remained by my side as he knew he could get a long belly rub. When it came time for Keegan extra attention he was the most excited that he had been all day. Keegan was jumping up at his kennel door and basically jumping off the walls to try and get my attention. Once I let him out of his kennel he took off like a bullet down the hallway and into the front reception area. Keegan loved going up there today because there were so many new smells for him. He spent the first five minutes sniffing non stop before he realized that there were people in the room who could cuddle with him. Once he saw me sitting up on the chair he jumped right on up and joined me. After a good belly and back rub, Keegan was ready for some treats. I convinced him that he had to do a few tricks before he could get any treats. Keegan did an excellent job with his sits and roll overs.

Boris and Tasha are such a blast to play with in the yard.  As soon as I opened their kennel door, they ran straight to the door and outside with their pals. As they made their way around the yard, Boris stopped and said hello to Dragon and Gryphon as Tasha ran around the yard, sniffing as she went. After watching Gryphon and Boris chase each other around the yard, Tasha decided that she should join in too, so she did. As they trio chased each other around the yard, Gryphon’s eye caught a ball, so he left the mother and son to play on their own. Before it was time to go back inside, I made sure to spend some time cuddling with Tasha and Boris as they looked a little cold in the October wind. For their extra attention today, Boris and Tasha spent some time in the front playroom. We started off with a few basic commands in return for a few treats, then we spent some time cuddling together. Tasha loves to jump up on my lap in the big chair for some loves, while Boris was more interested in the orange ball that he found. While I threw the ball around the room for Boris, Tasha jumped off my lap to sniff around the playroom before getting a few more treats from me. Before I took them back to their kennel Boris and Tasha spent a few minutes wrestling around in the playroom, and chasing each other around.

Sophie and Charlotte seem to be really enjoying their stay with us. For their walk today, Sophie got to spend some time with her good pal Mowgli. Instead of taking it easy, like she usually does, Sophie got to spend her walk doing a faster paced tempo as Mowgli kept her on her toes. For Charlotte’s walk today she got to spend some time with the handsome Justice. Justice was so happy to have such a great companion to spend his walk with today. For the girls extra attention this morning, they spent some time with Tiffani and Olivia in the back playroom. Sophie and Charlotte spent some time doing some tricks for treats, Sophie loved showing off how well she can sit for a treat. Charlotte loved playing tug of war with Olivia, while Sophie spent some time cuddled up with Tiffani. Before it was time for them to go back to their kennel, Tiffani gave the girls a few more treats, while Charlotte ran over to get a treat she plowed through Sophie in a sisterly way to get some treats too. For their group today Sophie spent the time outside sniffing around in the yards, without a care in the world, while Charlotte raced around with Tatoo and Dani. As the trio raced around the yard, Sophie stayed back and spent some time chomping on some grass. Before it was time to go back inside, Sophie and I had a little cuddle as we watched Charlotte work her charm with her two new friends.

Dani is really starting to come out of her shell as her stay progresses. For her extra attention today we spent some time in the lounge. As soon as we got out to the lounge, Dani ran around the lounge, jumping up on both the couches to see what was going on through the windows. After she slowed down, she showed me how well she knows how to sit for a few treats, as well as lay down. After spending some more time getting some treats, Dani and I cuddled on the couch for a bit, before we went outside to wander around. As we walked around in the field Dani stopped a few times to roll around in some hay, before she went back to her kennel. For her group today, Dani raced out the door and around the yards as fast as she could, excited to be outside again. After stopping to say hi to everyone, she sped around the yard a few more times before she slowed down to sniff around. While she was sniffing she watched her pals Charlotte and Tatoo playing, and decided to join in. for the rest of her group, Dani sped around the yard with Charlotte at her tail, and Tatoo not far behind.
