Charlotte and Sophie were just ecstatic to come up into the front playroom for there extra attention time. Charlotte plowed out of her kennel with Sophie followed closely, but a bit more elegantly, behind her. I went to grab a few of Charlotte's favorite toys as well as some treats for the two of them. Once I came back, Sophie had already found her comfy place to lie down while Charlotte was at the door patiently waiting for me to come play. As soon as I got in the playroom Charlotte tried to get all four toys right out of my hands. First she picked up her favourite yellow bunny but then she saw the stuffed toy dog, snake and rubber ball. Charlotte was completely puzzled and couldn’t decide which one she wanted to play with most so we ended up switching them around a few times. In between each toy I went over to Sophie for some cuddling. Every time I’d go over there, Sophie would greet me with kisses and put her nose right up close against my face. I sat with her for quite some time before I decided to get them to try and do a few tricks. At first I had to try and convince Sophie to get up and get them instead of just laying on the ground but soon enough she was up and sitting like a pretty girl. Charlotte joined her as soon as she could but wasn’t very sure about the whole sit concept. Eventually she was paying attention and did a great job as well.
The fun continued out in the yard this morning for both Charlotte and Sophie as they sprung out of their kennels for their next outing with some of their favourite friends. Sophie knows her special spot out in the yard, the spot where she can avoid all the commotion surrounding her but have a front row seat to the action happening in the adjacent yard. Plus she knows that by hanging out there it wouldn’t be long before I came over for her extra pets and cuddles. Charlotte, on the other hand, couldn’t be bothered to rest; she had to make the most of her time out playing with her buddies. To warm up she did a few laps in and out of the tunnel by herself to get her bearings before she enticed the others to chase her. She spotted Wally out in the yard and thought he would be the perfect gentleman to play with. Before I knew it she managed to get Wally chasing after her as planned; she would zoom around the yard and take cover in the agility tunnel. You could see her full head of blonde fur slowly creep out to see if Wally was still there, then turn around and run back around the other end. As much fun as she was having with Wally she knew she couldn’t resist the main action in the yard and that was the wrestling match between Vega, Mowgli and Gemma. She made sure to join in and wrestle around but was sweet enough to check on Sophie every once in a while and give her a big lick before heading back out in the yard.

Mowgli was thrilled to reunite with the ever playful and rambunctious girl Jemma. These two had so much fun together last time and picked up right where they left off but this time they included little Vega in the fun. Mowgli started the chase around the yard and Jemma and Vega excitedly followed close behind. He then made his signature move and rolled over on his back and this enticed Vega and Jemma even more to play. There were feet, paws, tongues and tails all over the place as these three rascals rolled around the yard. Jemma would grab an ear and Vega would grab the tail of Mowgli, all in good fun of course, Mowgli loved it! I was finally able to break Jemma’s attention to get a still photo of this beautiful girl because I knew it wouldn’t be long before she was off to play again. I enticed her over with the rope toy and she happily snatched it from my hands, Mowgli then took the other side for a good tug session. Vega thought hey there isn’t an end for me to grab so I will just grab on to Mowgli’s tail and off they went tumbling through the yard!

I geared the three little sisters Amber, Iris and Darby up for their outing in the yard this morning, and boy do they all look adorable with their winter coats on. At first I thought there wasn’t a stronger bond than Amber’s love for Iris but then I saw how much she followed Darby around the yard. Perhaps this little lady likes the bigger build of Darby to protect her from the others. Not like she needed protecting and in fact Amber is becoming more confident every day and is excited to greet the others out in the yard. Darby was on a sniffing mission and sniffed that yard out from top to bottom with Amber right in her coattails. Iris the sweet little confident girl was amused by the wrestling match between Resa, Tag and Mowgli and even decided to join in for one lap of the yard as she barked and pranced along with them. After one lap she decided to avoid the wrestling crew to make sure she didn’t get run over. Off she went prancing into the front yard and once Amber noticed she took off, she ran over and gave her some company. Darby wasn’t far behind and the three of them told me it was time to come back inside; so in they went and curled up on the fuzzy blankets for an afternoon nap.

Chloe was sad to see one of her favourite pals Dani leave yesterday, but that sadness didn’t keep up long once she saw all the toys in the yard! Toys, toys, toys, that’s exactly what I can see running around in her mind at all times. She first found the Frisbee lying on the ground but it was upside down so she was having trouble picking it up. She frantically pawed at it until I picked it up and threw it across the yard for her. Off she went lunging towards it but before I knew it she was back at my feet looking for the next toy to play with. She spotted her favourite rope toy next and ran over but she didn’t pick it up yet, she wanted to play a game with me and see if I could get to it first. Her big eyes looked up at me as if she was saying “are you gonna get it?” To no surprise, as I reached down to get it, she snatched it before I could and thought this was pretty hilarious. We played this game for the rest of our time outside until she noticed the sandbag that was holding down the agility tunnel. She thought that it looked like something fun to play with and was up for the challenge. Basically she will hunt out and find various things to play with in the yard to keep herself entertained! Teddy loved the playful energy that Chloe was giving off and immediately went into “Teddy-mode” and started herding everyone in the yard. He never seems to entice the play himself but feeds off the energy of the others and when they start getting excited so does he and starts circling them with his big tongue hanging out. Teddy loves the company of other dogs and especially loves to meet new friends, as there were some new faces out in the yard for him to sniff out today. It’s hard to get a still photo of Teddy since he is always pacing in excitement. Every so often he would break his circle and start to wrestle with both Kalum and Chloe who were new friends of his today. Not for too long though, he’s a working dog and had to get back to his herding duties!

Tsavo, Cai, Percy and myself had a wonderful walk this morning. Tsavo and Cai have such great leash manners, and they really are a delight to walk. They were very focused on sticking to the path and walking for the majority of our trail walk, although Cai did invite Tsavo to play once, which I quickly asked him not to so that the leashes wouldn’t get tangles. Tsavo and Cai got to be apart of a smaller group today, which they enjoyed. Cai was such a flirt with just about all the girls in his group. Nosing at all his pals and pawing at their sides asking them to play. Most of his friends’ declined, except Tsavo, who was more than happy to play around with her brother. The pair plays so rough, but they are so used to the intensity that they make for a wonderful match. Tsavo took a break from playing with her brother to goof around with Percy. Tsavo really wanted to chase after Percy while he and I played fetch, but Percy wasn’t too sure of her company. He declined her request to chase, leading Tsavo to head back to Cai for some more romping around. The pair kept each other pretty busy before making their way around the yard to check in on all their group mates before heading back indoors.

Percy was a pleasure to walk this morning. He, Tsavo and Cai are a power trio when it comes to the morning trail walk. They lead the way with their noses to the ground motoring full speed ahead not stopping for much. Percy occasionally came back to my side to check up on me, but was quick to retreat to the front of the line with his two pals. In the yard today, Percy was thrilled to see a big blue Frisbee lying on the ground. He instantly made his way to it, and began digging at it trying to pick it up. It is always a challenge to pick up a flat Frisbee, but he managed very well. Percy was quick to race back to me and ask me to throw it. We played a couple rounds of fast fetch before group mate Tsavo tried to give Percy some competition. Percy politely declined sharing the toy, and continued on in the yard with his nose to the ground. His buddies Tsavo and Cai intently followed him, as he explored, not afraid to ask him to play over and over. He wasn’t in the mood to play with them so he weaved in and out of the tunnel to try and get them off his tail. He successfully lost the interest of Tsavo and Cai, returning to my feet with a new rope toy looking for another game of fetch to begin before heading back indoors.

Kimi had a great morning walk with two good pals, Issy and Mocha this morning. I was jealous watching Tiffani walk this trio, as they make for such an easygoing smooth walk. Kimi lead the walk, with her nose to the ground, weaving in and out of the longer grass while Issy and Mocha trailed behind her. In the yard today, Kimi and Mocha surprised me by meeting up and having a bit of silly time. Mocha was the one to start the games, which surprised me even more! She made her way over to Kimi, with her tail wagging very fast and ears pinned back. She slowly walked up to her side and rubbed herself against Kimi’s side. After they sniffed each other’s noses, Mocha quickly tossed a paw up at Kimi, inviting her to play. Kimi took a leap back, play-bowed, and then took a step back forward. Mocha and Kimi then stood right next to one another, closely eyeing each other, while wagging their tails very fast. They kept at this for a while until Mocha decided she didn’t want to goof around any more. She then made her way to my side where she nuzzled in between my legs and then requested some pats. I was happy to cuddle into Mocha, using her to keep me very warm on this frigid day. Issy was pretty laid back today, as I think she was feeling somewhat sorry for herself after her sting incident. The poor girl hasn’t had the best luck recently. She kept herself busy in the yard, with her nose to the ground. She was very happy to be in the kitchen today, where she used her looks to guilt everyone into giving her cookies and love all day long.

Francis and Nunu are having an absolute ball with us. They are really enjoying meeting and greeting lots of different dogs. Yesterday they had so much fun with mother and son, Tasha and Boris. Francis especially loved the company of Boris, a young frisky male Siberian husky. She and him were such a perfect pair, keeping one another so busy playing around. Francis and Boris loved to wrestle and race around, occasionally including in the rest of their group mates. Nunu was much more interested in Kyah and the game of tug we had going on. Nunu loved sticking her muzzle in on the game of tug, doing a great job of giving Kyah some competition. Nunu was sure to join in on the racing around the yard with Francis and Boris too. Today, the duo was happy to be accompanied by numerous other huskies as well as two lovely golden retrievers. Francis was very fascinated by Merida, following her around the yard keeping a close eye on her every move. She was so excited when Merida invited her to run around, and the pair zipped and zoomed around the yard. Nunu loved watching her group mates play around, occasionally joining in on the games but mostly supervising. Both Francis and Nunu are really enjoying this cooler weather. I always find them standing with their nose high up in air, taking all the wind in on their face with a look of pure content.
