Groups:
Issy and Mocha had yet another busy day. They were very keen
to get going on their walk this morning. Mocha knows what the leash means, and
is very sure to let us all know how excited she is. As she gets more and more
chatty, this rubs off on Issy who begins dancing around in her circles like the
silly lady she is. I had to wait for them to settle down to get my hands on
their collars to hook them up to their leashes. Out on the trail, Mocha was sure
to trot into the long grass and roll around. I had to stand around for a while
calling her name until she decided to hop back up and join her friends on the
trail. In the yard Mocha did a bit of exploring in the right side of the grass yard before
she made her way into the right side where she found her favourite spot in
the sun and basked about while the rest of the group explored. Issy was very
excited to explore the left side of the yard initially. She zipped around with her
nose in the grass trying to pick up as many scents as possible prior to making
her way through the gate into the right side. When she spotted the pool she slowly approached
it, and after many laps and much thought, decided to test the water. She
dipped her two paws in, and instantly regretted her choice. She hopped out and
continued exploring and sniffing the yard, ensuring to stay as far away from
the water as possible.
Riley was great company on the trail this morning during
walk time. He trotted by my side and would slow down to sniff every once in a
while, but then would pick up the pace to catch up to myself and his pals. In
the yard he was more than happy to explore and sniff the perimeter of the yard
prior to finding me for some pats and cuddles. At one point I was getting a
light spray of water and I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from, I then
realized it was Riley wagging his tail! I hadn’t seen him get in the pool the
first time so he was spraying me with his happy, wagging, wet tail. Later on he
made his way back to the pool where he was very content to lay down and cool
off.
Max and Sadie had yet another five star day with us. Every time I walk by they are both
sleeping soundly, either on individual cots, or cuddled up side by side. Max
was so excited to see that his group today. He was in the yard with five huskies,
plus his usual daycare friend Percy. He began darting and dashing around looking
for a chase the moment he stepped out the door. Sadie was quick to hop on his
tail and begin zipping around with him. The commotion of these two got the
entire group going, and next thing I knew all eight dogs were speeding around the
yard. After numerous laps they all headed to the watering hole (the pool) to cool off. Max
especially loves standing about in the water. After Sadie had her play, she
went to sniff and explore the yard. Today she was very interested in a hole
that was developing in the yard. She began sniffing it, which quickly lead to
aggressive digging. She was sending dirt flying out behind her which drew
attention to her. Max was quick to make his way to her and check out what she
was up to. Sadie let Max take over the digging for a brief amount of time
before I called them both away from the hole. They were quick to get moving
after this and began jumping around with their friends. Both Max and Sadie took
turns leaping up on to the picnic table, alternating turns with their other
play mates as well. Everybody likes being the king of the castle once in a
while.
Percy is always very excited to get here in the morning. As usual,
he darted down the hall looking for all his friends. He settled down in his
kennel very well and patiently awaited his turn to walk. Percy was so happy to
get out into the yard with his friends today. He immediately began darting in
circles, chatting away, letting everyone know he was there. Max was the first
dog to give him the attention he wanted and these two began sprinting around
the yard full speed. It didn’t take long for the rest of the group to notice
the chase going on, and the whole team joined in. After the sprinting calmed
down Percy made his way over the pool to cool off. Percy is rather hilarious when
it comes to the small, shallow pool. He did a bunch of on the spot circles then
began vigorously digging. His friends were quick to leap back and steer clear
of the water while he was in it. It didn’t take long for the pool to drain. I
refilled it, and he started his shenanigans all over again. Once he was
satisfied with all the pool action he had gotten, he headed back into the grass
yard to run some more laps with all his pals. When it was time to come inside
he was happy to lay down on the cold tile and have a nice nap.
Duke headed right for the pool when he got outside. He clambered in got his feet wet then launched himself out of the pool. Duke went trotting off to do a tour of the yard. He then made his way back to where the majority of the group was hanging out to see what they were up to. When it appeared like they were mostly wanted to play in the pool Duke went trotting off to exploring the yard some more. Duke spent some time checking out the tunnel before moving on to see what Brenyn and I were up to. He spent some time giving Brenyn a once over then asked for a couple pets from me. Duke's attention was then caught by a toy not too far away. He made his way over to check it out, but in the end decided to leave it where it was. Duke went back to explorations. A little while later Finnegan went charging past with a toy. Duke not wanting to miss out on the fun went charging after him. The two of them had a great time with Duke trying to get the toy away from Finnegan.
Miko was full of spunk this morning. As soon as he got out the door he took of bouncing around the yard. When it looked like no one was going to play with him for the moment Miko decided to head out to the far yard with Maya. He spent a little time exploring, but was soon back to ripping around. Miko's running eventually brought him over to the hole. He hopped in and started to dig, but I had to break it to him that that wasn't really allowed. Miko headed off to do a some more exploring. Pretty soon Miko was back to zipping around, though now he had set his sights on Penny and was determined to get her to play with him. He wasn't super successful, but his attempts caught Maya's eye and she was more than ready to play. They went tearing around the yard having a great time. Eventually they needed a bit of a break and settled down in the grass. Maya started to stalk Penny and when she pounced Miko went racing after her. He quickly became distracted by Higgins checking something out by the fence. Once his curiosity was satisfied Miko went right back to ripping around the yard. Maya was quick to join in. Needing another break Miko headed to the pool for a drink.
Penny and Pippin started their morning with their typical exploring. Penny had to come say hi and demand some love from me first, but right after that her nose was to the ground and she was off after her sister. The two of them did a very thorough tour of the main yard. When Penny and Pippin had seen all they wanted to for the moment they made their way out to the far yard to join the others. Their noses remained glued to the ground and their focus was intense. Penny finally noticed me nearby and came wiggling her way over for some more love. Not too long after that Penny found herself being pounced on by Miko who desperately wanted to play with her. Penny wasn't quite so sure, but decided to humour him for a little while. Pippin was content to continue on exploring while her sister played. Her nose eventually lead her to the hole where she found herself being watched by Maya and Miko. Pippin wasn't observed for long as Miko and Maya went running off together. Pippin met back up with Penny and the two of them headed back to the main yard to see if they had missed anything. Penny was quick to make her way back to the far yard. Shortly after she entered, Penny found herself being stalked by Maya. When Maya pounced Penny was quick to run back to the main yard and Pippin. The girls finally noticed the pool and made their way over. Pippin was quick to hop right in while Penny was content to just drink from the side. After a little bit of convincing I got Penny in the pool. I think she was little suprised that it wasn't that bad, though she didn't stay in too long.
Maya went trotting out into the yard and quickly put her nose down and set off to do some exploring. Once she'd seen all of the main yard she was quick to head out to the far yard. Maya was accompanied by Miko. She was quite focused on her exploring and barely lifted her head when Miko started to race around. Eventually, Maya took a break from her exploring to go and see what Pippin was looking at in the hole. That apparently triggered something, because next thing I know she's booking it around the yard with Miko. They had a blast, but pretty soon they needed to take a bit of a breather. When she was feeling all energetic once more Maya laid down in wait for someone to walk past. That someone ended up being Penny. As soon as she walked past a certain point Maya went racing and pounced. Penny wasn't super interested in playing, so when Maya spotted Miko racing around once more she went running to join him. Miko ended up wandering off to check on something by the fence. Maya decided to take another break and settle down to just watch what was going on in the rest of the yard. She spotted Penny and Pippin hanging out in the pool and decided that the pool sounded like a good idea.
