It was a very calm day in the cattery today. The clouds seemed to have our cat guests feeling particularly snuggly. Allie spent the night roaming the room and when I went in to see her this morning, she was curled up in the hammock of the cat tree. She didn't want to get up quite yet, so I gave her some head scratches before going to clean up her cubby. Allie stayed put for the next little while, and she only decided to get up when I walked by with a bowl of food. Once she'd finished her breakfast, Allie curled up in her comfy bed for another nap. She came back out later in the afternoon and had a scratch on the cat tree and then hung out on the window sill, watching the goings on in the parking lot.
As soon as I opened Ziggy's door this morning, he rolled over onto his back so that I could pet his belly. He was being such a sweetie and would have had me pet him all day. Once his cubby was clean and he'd had some breakfast, Ziggy climbed up the cat tree and looked around in the box, which he normally likes to sit in. He decided to continue climbing, though and made his way up to the hammock. He curled up for a little snooze, and when I came back in later on, I found Ziggy right where I'd left him. I gave him some more scratches and he put his face down into the hammock, looking quite relaxed.
Groups
Max and Sadie were so excited to get outside. Max was the first to go charging out to the far yard while the rest of the group followed. Sadie brought up the rear. They went tearing around the yard a couple times when they both became very interested in the tunnel. Spencer and Cai joined them as they through looked over the tunnel. Max set his eyes on Spencer and quickly decided it was time to play. They started to wrestle and have lots of fun together. When Sadie was done with the tunnel went to go and check out the hole in the ground. Cai joined her and they spent time with their heads together. Max continued to play with Spencer until they needed a bit of a breather. They then set out to do a little exploring together. At this point, Max was approached by Tsavo and Cai. They bounced around a little bit, but Max still wanted to play with Spencer. Spencer now wanted to explore, so Max went to see what was going on around the yard. Sadie decided to leave the far yard to see what was going on in the main yard. When not much was happening, she went trotting back to Max and the far yard. Shortly after she got there Max made his way to the main yard and the little picnic table. He hopped up and used it as a good vantage point to see beyond the fence. Max hopped down from the table and went racing back into the far yard. He was now ready to play once more. It didn't take long for him to get Tsavo, Cai, and Percy all playing with him. Sadie decided to continued her explorations for a little bit longer before she went running to join Max's fun.
Cai and Tsavo and went running out to the far yard with the rest of the group. When the running died down and the others started to check out the tunnel, Cai joined them while Tsavo wandered off to check out the rest of the yard. She ended up making her way over to Justice and doing a little exploring with him. Cai went with Sadie when she left the tunnel to go and check out the hole. Cai headed off to check out more of the yard. Eventually he became aware of Max having fun and went to see about maybe joining him. Tsavo was apparently having similar thoughts and went to join her brother and Max. When they didn't have much luck with Max, Tsavo and Cai headed off to do some exploring together. They made their way into the main yard. Cai then met up with Percy and soon they were wrestling and having fun. It didn't last very long and Cai went right back to exploring with Tsavo. The two of them saw all they wanted to see of the main yard and headed back to the far yard. Max was ready to play and Tsavo and Cai were ready to play with him.
Spencer set out to start doing a little exploring around the yard. When the rest of the group went charging out to the far yard, he decided to tag along. After running around for a bit, Spencer went to go see what Max, Sadie, and Cai were looking by the tunnel. Pretty much as soon as he got there he was pounced on by Max who now wanted to play. The two of them were soon having a great time wrestling. Eventually the two of them needed a break and set off to do some exploring. Max soon wanted to play some more, but Spencer was now in an exploring head space and was determined to do just that. Spencer continued to explore most thoroughly even when Max and the rest of the group started to race around. Finally he had seen everything he needed to see and was quick to go charging after them to join in.
Percy was quick to start running around waiting for the fun to start. When Max went racing into the far yard, Percy was quick to be on his heels. They ran around the yard a couple times when the group became interested in the tunnel. Percy was less interested in the tunnel went to check out stuff along the fence line. He became aware of Max and Cai wrestling and went over to check it out. Deciding he didn't need to join in right that moment, Percy went to see what was going on beyond the fence. When that proved to be only so interesting Percy went running off around the yard to see what was going on. He ended up in the main yard where he met up with Cai. It didn't take much for the two of them to start wrestling and having fun. Percy became distracted by something in the grass. Cai left to continued his own explorations. When he was done, Percy headed back to the far yard to do some exploring in there. Percy saw Max go running to the little table. Curious about what he was up to, Percy tagged along. When Max started racing around Percy was right there ready for the fun.
Jake, Leah and Poppy were pretty happy to get outside and start touring around the yard. Leah and Poppy split up to check out different parts of the yard. Jake went running around the yard seeing what was going on and stopped to say hi to the others dogs. His attention was soon grabbed by something in the grass by the fence. Leah and Poppy both noticed Jake checking something out by the fence. They both headed on over to see what was going on. When Poppy was finished checking it out she came trotting over to me and sat down. I was more than happy to give her lots of pets. Leah and Jake were joined by Max. It wasn't too long after that that the three of them were off racing around the yard. Poppy saw them running, she quickly ditched me and went racing over to join in. The four of them ran around for a little while when it fizzled out and they all split up to do more exploring. It wasn't long before Jake, Poppy, Leah, and Max were all ripping around the yard together once more. At one point they stopped running to do some wrestling. Jake and Leah paired up while Poppy went with Max. She wasn't quite so sure about this wrestling business and managed to get the others running again. Eventually everyone was tired and spread out to just stand around and breathe with a little exploring thrown in.
Maverick and Shyla went trotting out to start their morning with some exploring. Maverick soon became distracted by Summit. He left his explorations and tagged along behind Summit. Summit was all about his own explorations, but Maverick was determined to get him to play. Shyla continued to trot around checking out the yard, occasionally pausing to watch her brothers antics. Maverick was still focused on Summit, when Summit went to see about getting Riley to play. Maverick wasn't overly impressed and went to steal Summit away. Some how it turned into Maverick and Riley playing. He didn't stick around long and soon made his way over to me for some pets. Shyla was off in the far corner exploring in the grass and rocks. Maverick left me and went to join his sister. They spent some time exploring together. Shyla was soon hit with the zoomies and went tearing off around the yard. She went racing over to Summit then came charging over to me. Maverick now reminded about Summit's existence made his way back over to his side. Teddy spotted Shyla running around and came running over to circle her. Her fun also got Summit's eye. He went running over to see about getting her to play with him. Maverick was quick to interfere. After playing for a little while Maverick decided it was time for more pets. Shyla got the zoomies out of her system and went off to do some more exploring.
Kelly and Riley couldn't wait to get outside. Riley didn't waste any time in running out further into the yard. Kelly walked with me and asked for some pets and attention. As we were walking she met up with Teddy and they took quite a liking to each other. When Teddy raced off Kelly tagged along. Kelly and Teddy ended up running over to Riley. After they said their hellos and checked each other over, Riley and Teddy realized they quite liked each other as well. Soon they were bouncing around having a great time. Riley noticed some of the rest of the group checking out something by the big rock. Curious he went trotting over to join them. When Riley's curiosity was satisfied he went trotting back to Kelly and Teddy. The three of them went running around having a great time. Needing a break from playing, Riley and Kelly went to go do a little exploring and Teddy decided to tag along. While they were exploring, Riley was approached by Summit who wanted to play with him. Soon Riley was bouncing around with Summit and Maverick while Teddy circled and Kelly watched. Kelly came a little closer to me so she could get some pets and attention. Riley stopped playing and decided to head out to do some exploring in the grass.
Teddy was so excited to get outside. He went tearing out and started looking for someone to run with. Teddy quickly met up with Kelly and the two of them went running off together. They soon met up with Kelly's brother Riley. Teddy quite liked him too and soon they were bouncing around together. Riley left to go and check something out so Teddy and Kelly continued to play together. Riley was soon back and the three of them went racing around together. After playing for a while, the goldens decided to go and do some exploring. Not wanting to miss out on anything Teddy tagged along. Riley ended up going to play with Summit and Maverick. Excited that there was some action going on, Teddy went circling around them. When Riley stopped playing and went to explore Teddy switched his focus to Shyla who was now running around. Eventually everyone stopped running to take a break so Teddy went to do a little exploring of his own.
Charlotte was so excited to go outside today and play with all of her friends in her group. She is still a puppy which means she has so much energy and loves to run around the yard with whoever is ready to keep up with her. She had a special interest in Harvey; he's also a puppy so they both got along great and have the same level of energy. When they both got outside, Harvey started to chase her right away and they ran all the way to the further yard and started to wrestle in the grass. He really likes to wrestle around while Charlotte just wanted to play tag. Whenever she broke free they would begin to chase each other again until he caught back up to her. Charlotte loves to play rough though and can handle all of the rolling around unlike some of the older dogs in their group. As they were running around the agility yard she picked up a long rope toy and started to run up to me with it in her mouth just as Harvey ran over and grabbed the other end. The two of them started to play tug of war and tried their hardest to get it from one another but neither of them could do it. Eventually Charlotte got it to herself when she decided to roll around on the ground when he was still holding onto the rope. Harvey seemed to be wondering why she was rolling in the grass so he decided to let go. Later on, Charlotte ran over to see me and jumped up for lots of kisses while Harvey ran around to find another dog to play with who was outside. He came across Goliath who was running around with him and Charlotte earlier but never jumped and joined in with them.
Goliath is such a happy boy and loves to play and interact with all of the dogs. He ran over to watch them play as soon as he got outside and chased them around as they wrestled with each other in the grass. He stayed back a bit and watched as they rolled around but always stuck close by. After he had enough of watching the others, Goliath went off on his own and started to sniff around the grass. I called him over to me and he ran all the way over to the door to say hi. He started to sniff the other dogs that weren't as playful and hung around with them when Harvey ran up. Harvey play bowed and Goliath jumped back, the two started to run around in circles and Goliath burned off some energy before it was time to go inside.
Will had such a good walk this morning with his best pal Bandit. They both have so much energy and very strong personalities. After we got out on the trail they both calmed down very fast and walked very nicely with out pulling at all. During their group outside, Will was his usual silly and playful self while Bandit went off on his own at first. Will ran in to the yard and ran right up to me to greet me with a big smile on his face. He loves attention and doesn't mind being the first one to run up to all of the dogs to get everyone involved. Bandit wandered around the agility yard and sniffed along the rocks and through the grass for a little bit before running over to say hi and socialize with everybody. It wasn't long before Will ran straight up to Bandit and jumped on his back to start playing. Bandit was loving it and began to get playful as well. Will started to chase Bandit around the yard before he heard one of the dogs barking over by the door and stopped. Will went to go check it out while Bandit continued on and walked over to say hi to some of the quieter dogs that were there. I called him over to me and he came but left shortly after when he decided to go and say hi to his friends once again.
Teddie and Kizmet both seemed so sleepy after they got in from their walk with Merlin this morning. The three of them did so well together and Kizmet was interested in Merlin as he was sniffing behind him the entire time we were on the trail. During their groups, both Teddie and Kizmet trotted out into the agility yard. Teddie had the cutest look on his face as his tongue was poking through his mouth. He started to walk around and explore the yard as Kizmet ran up to me to get some attention. I pet Kizmet for a while as he gave me so many kisses. When I was done he stuck by my side and walked around with me before walking over to go and see Teddie. The two of them explored as well as going up to some of the dogs they passed to stop and say hello. When Kizmet walked over to Kai he seemed to be very interested in her as he suddenly became playful. He started to hop up on to her back to try and wrestle with her as she was jumping around in circles. She was having so much fun with him and you could tell Kai was getting entertained. Teddie ran over to cheer Kizmet on and started to run around them and bark.
Kai was in a very good mood today when she was outside with her group. When she first got outside she started to wander around the yard but kept her eye on all the dogs that were playing. She would walk up to them and stand near them as they bounced around her. It wasn’t until Kizmet ran up to her and started to jump on her back to try and wrestle that she got super playful. She got a burst of energy and began to run around the whole yard with a big grin on her face. She ran through the agility tunnel a couple times as all the dogs waited on the other end of it for her to come out. When they did that she waited inside until they all left then went through on her own. When she was done running she was all worn out and started to wander around to explore and sniffed along all of the rocks.
Molly was very excited to be back today. Whenever she comes in she always brings a very positive vibe to her group and everyone seems to be in a better and more playful mood when she’s around. She started run around and greet all of the dogs with so much excitement right away, as she was bouncing around all of them they began to run around as well. She then ran over to me and hopped up to give me a big kiss. When she jumped down she ran over to sniff around the yard when she came across a rubber bone. She was overjoyed with this bone from the first time she picked it up. She brought it over to me immediately and dropped it at my feet so we could start playing fetch. I threw it for her and each time she ran after it as fast as she could while trying to get to it before the other dogs. She succeeded each time and from then on she didn’t want to do anything than to play with her bone. She took a break a bit later and laid down with it to chew on as the others tried to grab it from her.
Issy and Mocha came in this morning and went straight to the staff room. They were very sleepy and laid down for a nap right away. When they got outside they were both very calm and trotted around the yard. Issy ran over to the further yard and started to sniff around the grass as Mocha stayed around the gravel for a bit. After a little while Mocha decided to join everyone in the grass yard and sniffed along the fence for a bit. I called her over to me and she lifted her head up from the ground and stared at me for a bit then walked over. I pet her for a while then she decided that she had enough and walked back to the door to see the others. I called Issy as well but she was just too distracted by all of the exploring to even look up. it wasn’t until I decided to start running around her that her energy level went up and she got playful. She chased me back to the door where she and Mocha hung around to relax a bit before going back inside.
It was great to see Ginny again today! She walked right out into the yard and went to sniff around. Ginny said a quick hello to the other dogs in her group, including Kimi. Kimi was flying solo today and she was happy to see some friends outside. Ginny and Kimi spent a moment saying hello to one another before they each took off with their noses glued to the ground. Kimi made her way out to the grassy part of the yard, while Ginny circled back and came to sit with me. I was perched on the little picnic table and Ginny didn't hesitate to jump up and sit down next to me. She gave me lots of kisses while I pet her. Kimi saw us and came over to get some pets, too. The whole group was keeping it pretty calm, probably since it was a cloudy kind of day. Kimi and Ginny each split off to go back to exploring around the yard for a little while. Kimi got a little bit playful by the end of our group time and started to bounce around the yard.
Khal started off his day with a one-on-one walk with Tayler. He really likes the time he spends with people and this walk seemed set his day off on a good note. Later on, it was time for Khal's group time. He joined a few other dogs out in the yard and spent a few minutes going around to say hello. Khal bounced around a little bit with his new friend, Kimi before coming over to see me. He stood up next to me on the picnic table for some pets and attention, which I was happy to give. After our snuggle time, Khal went back over to see his friend, Kimi. The two stood nose to nose as their tails wagged furiously. Khal and Kimi did a bit more bouncing around together before it was time to head back inside.
