Saturday June 18th 2016

Reese was being such a cutie today like always. He started pacing his kennel in excitement when I walked by. I thought he was excited just when he saw me but when he was let out of his kennel for the first time after walks this morning I found out that he could be even more excited then what I first thought. He ran around me in delight taking only a few seconds to say hello to his friends before coming back over to see me. The door flew open and off he went into the wonderfully warm summer day. He went on  the trail adventure this morning and was happily joined by some of his friends who were also in an adventurous mood. He and his group of buddies walked all around the agility yard trying to see what kind of cool things were lying around. On his search he encountered one of his favourite things, the pool. This discovery was amazing and being the one to discover it he had to be the first one in, so off he went into the cool waters that awaited him inside the tub. It was amazing and made him feel so good especially after all that hard work searching the yard. He also was very excited after group time because he got to spend some extra time with me up front while I wrote the Pet Journal and he got lots of cuddles to end his day.

Amira was a lucky girl this morning because she got to spend it in the grooming room getting a beautiful new hairdo. She came outside with me afterwards and she looked so adorable even all of her friends thought she looked really good too. She ran around happily through the tall grass in the agility yard for a little while after greeting everyone. She thought it was so much fun since there were so many different smells in every part of the yard. When all that exploring was done it was time to check out the pool that some of the others had found. She smelled the water a little before going in slowly to get used to the colder water. She had lots of fun splashing around and cooling off after spending lots of time exploring in the heat. Amira had a wonderful day today with lots of excitement from getting groomed to playing in the water.

Kidd is settlling in so well for her first day here and has even gone to make a few friends in her group. She started off a little shy in the yard so instead of meeting everyone she went and lounged around in the tall grass taking in all the warmth. She took a little nap in the grass before gaining the courage to go and explore and meet the others in her group. At first she was a little unsure, but then one of the older girls in her group came over and the two got along well. When she had met her fair amount of people she went off on her own to check out the new surroundings. She had fun doing that for a while until it was time to go inside where she went and curled up on a big comfy bed. She had a great first day exploring and sun bathing.

Maverick and Shyla are so adorable and Shyla has really come out of her shell since the first time I met her. She bounced around her kennel in excitement until the door opened and she could run free. Right when she got out of her kennel she met up with Tatoo her new best friend who absolutely adores her. They jumped around in the hallway for a bit while they waited for me to open the door to let them out. Maverick was also very excited and ran back and forth in the hallway while I let the rest of his friends out. Once the door opened, Maverick and Shyla both went flying out the door so that they could check out the yard before anyone else. Shyla, being the new social butterfly that she is, became instant friends with one of the new dogs to the group and the two of them ran around playing for a little while. Maverick on the other hand was very interested in a scent that caught his attention so he decided that today he would follow his nose during groups. He had lots of fun searching for the mysterious scent and even took some time out of his busy schedule to come and see me for some cuddles. Shyla had lots of fun playing with her old friends and new friends and also enjoyed some relaxing time in the shade with everyone.

Bella is such a sweetie and I first got to see her during groups when she went out with all of her friends. She's a very popular girl and has lots of friends just waiting to play with her all the time if she wants to. Before playing with her friends she thought it would be fun to go and play in the pool which was full of cold water to cool her off. She splashed around in the water and then her friends came and joined her making her pool day so much more fun. After that it was time to go run around with her pals and get a game going. They all chased each other around and had so much fun and every now and then they would all run back to the pool and Bella would be the first one in. When all the outdoor excitement was over she came up front to play with me and also get lots of cuddles. She had a wonderful day today and even got to go on an extra walk too during her extra attention which she thought was great.

Duke is such a sweetie and I love him so much. Every second that I have to spare I try and spend it with this loveable guy. He's alway very excited to see me and the first thing he does when I walk into his kennel is give me a big hug. After that I sit down with him and he comes and lies beside me and rolls right over onto his back so he can get the belly rubs that he absolutely adores. Sadly that's usually when I have to get back to work and say goodbye to him for a little while. Not long after I left though it was time for groups and he couldn't wait. He ran out as fast as he could and then went to explore for a little while. When exploring was done it was time to go look at the pool that everyone was so interested in. He thought it was kind of cool, but not overly so he took a drink of the water before going off again when something caught his eyes. He found a frisbee in another dogs mouth, but since he wanted it he went after it and got it. He ran around with it excitedly and was very happy with his prize. Duke had a lovely day and I can't wait to get more time to spend so I can give him plenty more cuddles and belly rubs.

Max and Sadie were very happy to be here today. This pair was keen to power out the door and motor along the trail during walk time. They always lead the way like true leaders. They definitely made up for their week off by running around non-stop during play time. Max loves getting everybody going. He darts around in circles, play bowing and pouncing at everyone until finally his friends give in. Teddy, Sadie, and Justice were more than happy to sprint after him for numerous laps around the yard. After a couple laps in the hot sun Max headed for the pool where he splashed about cooling off. Sadie wasn’t too sure about the pool. She tried dipping her paws in but wasn’t too keen so she went back to sniffing and exploring. Later on Max was sure to find his sister and get a good wrestling match going while their pal Teddy ran around them.

Teddy was full of beans today. He enjoyed his walk along the trail, taking his time to stop and sniff the long grass. In the yard he did what he loves to do best: herd! He spent most of his time outside running around with the group sprinting in circles around them trying to control them. He was out numbered, 5 to 1, so he wasn’t too successful, however this kept him very busy and he thoroughly enjoys doing it. When everyone settled down to head over to the pool and cool off he was right on their tails. Teddy really enjoyed prancing about in the shallow waters to cool down before heading back out into the yard for more running around with his friends. Back in his kennel he sprawled out and laid his whole belly on the floor with his legs out behind him like a frog. The cold tile on his belly seemed to be the best method to cool down.

Bella  and Jake are always wonderful dogs to spend time with. These two put a smile on my face throughout the whole day. It goes without saying breakfast, lunch, and dinner is one of their favourite parts of the day. These two were dancing around on their hind legs for me this morning when I brought them their meals. They are both so well behaved and sat for me the moment I asked them two. Jake loves walk time, he takes this as an opportunity to sniff the property and check out where the other dogs have been. Bella on the other hand takes walk time as an opportunity to motor full speed ahead, leading the walk. In the yard today both Bella and Jake were pretty calm. It was a warm day so they spent more time sniffing and exploring rather than playing. Jake is such a suck, any time I stand or sit still for longer than 5 seconds he is right my by side nuzzling in to me and giving me kisses. Today Bella was happy to offer me some kisses too. They love all the attention they can get and will do anything to ensure they receive as much as possible.

Higgins is such a sweet boy. He has been doing so well throughout his stay. Our routine keeps him nice and busy, however he ensures to get numerous good snoozes in throughout the day. Today he walked with Max and myself and really liked the summer weather for this outing. He marched along with his nose in the air taking in all the smells. In the yard today, Higgins was keen to do some quick exploring and rolling around in the grass before heading back to the gravel yard where he could seek shade. He gave me a good laugh when he went under the picnic table for shade. The other dogs in the group were very curious as to what he was doing under there. When I sat down on the picnic table he crawled out and hopped on my lap looking for some cuddles and attention.
