Cattery

Today we're down to two cats in the cattery. Chief and Misty don't seem to mind too much as it means more time for them out in the main room. I headed in for a visit with the two of them. I was greeted by Chief who was curled up comfortably in his hammock. He rolled a little so I had access to his belly to give him some pets. When Chief had had enough love I moved on to have a visit with Misty. She was curled up in her cubby, but was quick to get up when she saw me. Misty then laid back down and started rolling around, being silly. When she finally stopped moving I gave her a some ear scratches, which she enjoyed.

Groups

The first group of the morning was Athena and Aphrodite's group. The two of them were both determined to check out every little bit of ice they could. Athena decided to stay in the main yard while Aphrodite headed out to the agility yard. When she got out to the agility yard, Aphrodite changed her focus from exploring to munching. She set her sights on a rather large chunk of ice that looked particularly tasty. Eventually, once finished with her ice block, Aphrodite came over for a bum rub. She then went to walk around casually with Spencer. As she went around Aphrodite, came across another particularly interesting ice chunk and went to work on it. With her occupied, I went back to the main yard to check on Athena. Athena had moved on to the far yard and was still quite intent on her search. She followed her nose along the fence line, pausing here and there as she found interesting sections. Aphrodite left the agility yard to join us. She was then distracted by Cabot and Tupper, the duck tollers and their toy and went to bounce around with them for a bit.

As soon as we stepped foot outside Finnigan went racing off around the far yard. Hercules went straight for Bennie to ask him to play, but Bennie was busy with other activities, so Hercules set out to see what everyone else was up to. Percy and Bluebell spent some time check one another over and to say hello. Once satisfied, they both headed out to the far yard where Bluebell found a good spot to stand and watch what everyone was up to, while Percy went to see if he could join any games. Molly set out to do some exploring and so did Apollo. Apollo was quick to find himself a kong toy and parade it around. He didn't have it long before Molly noticed and Molly got ahold of the Kong while Apollo was distracted. She then came running over to drop it at my feet. With ground being rather slippery and uneven, we played a couple rounds of toss instead of fetch. Apollo set back out to see about finding another toy with his pal Finnigan. Hercules hadn't given up on convincing Bennie to play and went to see if he was ready yet. I figured it was time for a change of scenery so we headed out to the agility yard. Molly had to bring her toy of course, so Apollo stayed close so that he could steal it back should the opportunity arise. The toy became much more interesting to the other dogs in the agility yard and Molly soon found herself being visited by Percy and then by Finnigan and Bennie. When they realized they weren't getting the toy, Finnigan and Bennie went running off to do some exploring together. Hercules was unconcerned about the toy because he had found himself a bone in the snow. It was so fun to watch him throw it around, and he got some good air on it. Hercules ended up losing the bone briefly when his throw went wild. Apollo was quite happy to snatch it up while Percy complained about missing the toss. Apollo didn't get to enjoy his prize long because Hercules managed to sneak in and steal it. Apollo then left to go and chew on an ice chunk. Nearby, Molly was having fun chewing on her toy. Hercules lost his bone once more, though this time it was to Finnigan. Once Finnigan and Bennie parted ways, Bennie turned his sights to Barley. They really hit it off and it didn't take long before they were having a ton of fun wrestling and running around. Percy saw the boys and went running over to referee. Bluebell also decided to get involved. She'd been standing by me watching everyone's antics, but apparently Bennie and Barley's fun was too much to resist. It wasn't long before Hercules joined them as well. When Molly was finished with her toy, she turned her attention to Apollo's ice chunk, hoping he would share.

The next group ended up being an all husky group. The group did a quick tour of the main yard before racing out to the agility yard. Tasha and Boris went over by the lounge building to do some exploring. Boris then left his mom to go racing to see what Isis was up to. He was very determined to get his aunt to pay attention to him. Tasha kept a close eye on her son and on her half-sister. She didn't stay with them too long and was soon back to exploring in the snow. Kyah was off doing some exploring of her own. She followed her nose and paused occasionally to watch Boris as he attempted to get Isis to play with him. Isis eventually managed to shake Boris loose and went to go and trot around with Tasha. Once Kyah had had enough exploring, she took up her regular post on top of the tunnel. It didn't take long for the others to notice what she was doing, and Kyah then had a sea of huskies staring at her from the ground. Isis got half up onto the tunnel where she and Kyah then had some fun boxing and pawing each other. On the ground nearby, Boris and Magic were having fun wrestling in the snow. Isis then left Kyah to go and join in. Even Tasha was intrigued and went over to see what the group was up to.

The first group of littles were up next. Once again we had a split of those who were quite excited and those who opted to relax and roam the yard. Apple was a little reluctant to head out into the winter wonderland, that is until she realized that Merida was outside. Apple went racing out the far yard hoping that they'd get running soon. Sky wasn't too keen on the wind today so he headed out did a little exploring and then quickly made his way to the playroom door, waiting to be let back inside. Nanook, Monte, Tessa, and Simon didn't seem to mind the snow. Nanook, Tessa and Monte put their noses to the ground to do a little exploring. Simon was quick to go racing around the yard. Monte made his way out to the far yard to see what Merida was up to with Tessa hot on his tail. Nanook still following his nose, also made his way over to the far yard. Simon, not wanting to be alone went booking it out to the far yard as well. Once he got there he ended up doing some exploring. Nanook was soon successful in his search when he found himself a nice tennis ball that he was quite happy to lay with in the snow, gnawing on it casually. Apple was having a great time chasing after Merida, but Merida stopped here and there to see what the other dogs were up to. Apple pounced along beside her, waiting for Merida to take off running once again. Their antics caught the eyes of Monte and Tessa who both dropped what they were doing to go and see about joining in. Tessa then branched off to go and have a visit with Simon. Merida, Monte and Apple continued racing around having a ton of fun. They were eventually joined by Nanook and Tessa. Simon opted out of the chase and came and planted himself at my feet to watch. With them all occupied I went to go and have a visit with Sky. He snuggled up to me for a warm snuggle session and was happy to have some one-on-one time. I told Sky it was time to head in for some indoor play, and he was the first one through the door into the playroom. The rest of the group was quick to follow and the fun continued as the littles bounced around the playroom, enjoying some of the new toys.

Next up was the second group of littles. Rocky and Pearl were quick to set out to do some exploring. Tinkerbell went running off, but soon came running back to join Pearl in her explorations. Xiao Bao and Lola took a little while to decide what they wanted to do. Lola checked around for a good spot to sunbathe, but the clouds hovered overhead, so she followed her nose around the yard. Maya also wasn't quite sure what she wanted to do. In the end she joined Pearl and Tinkerbell for a short while, as they too followed their noses. Miko and Merlin went racing off to start bouncing around and wrestling. They looked like they were having so much fun that Tinkerbell branched off to see if she could either join in or start up a game of chase. Miko decided to take a break, so Tinkerbell and Merlin started their own wrestling match. Miko used his play-break to do a little exploring. Pearl didn't seem to mind that she had lost her exploring buddy and was content to continue going around with her nose to the ground. Xiao Bao left Lola to come and walk around with me. Tinkerbell and Merlin continued to have fun, but when Miko returned, Tinkerbell decided to go and do some exploring. Miko and Merlin resumed their fun and headed out towards the far yard. Tinkerbell and Pearl also headed out to the far yard to investigate Miko and Merlin's game. The four of them ended up meeting over by the fence. There was apparently something quite interesting in the snow and rocks and each of their noses led them to the same place. Maya decided to head over to join them and they all traveled along the fence line checking everything out. They ended up near me so Tinkerbell left the group to come for a visit. Xiao Bao was quite happy to see her and put all his efforts into getting Tinkerbell to play with him. Unfortunately she was more interested in pets from me so Xiao Bao then hopped onto my thighs to get in on the action. Maya and Merlin saw their buddies receiving snuggles and came running over to join in. Lola had decided to make the most of it and was going around checking things out. Tinkerbell was the last to join the snuggle bunch, while Pearl sat down a little ways away to watch. Miko wandered back out into the main yard, which caught Merlin's attention. Merlin hopped along after Miko, looking to start up another play session. Meanwhile, Tinkerbell and Maya ran around the yard together, zig zagging around the boulders and through the gate, enjoying their one-on-one game. Everyone seemed content in their games, so I went back towards the door to check on Rocky and Pearl. The pair were happy to come see me for some warm hugs and snuggles until it was time to head inside.

Sadie had a group to herself today. We headed outside and set off for the agility yard. Sadie was quick to put her nose to the ground. She seemed quite determined to find something interesting in the snow. When Sadie spotted me crouching down to take a picture she came trotting over to lean up against me and give me some kisses. She then hopped back into exploring, following her nose along the ground in the snow. When we came back inside Sadie was quite excited to head to the playroom with Magic. The two of them were soon bouncing around and having a great time.

Enhanced

Today for Boris' training we headed into the playroom. I left some toys laying around for some added distraction. Boris has an awesome 'sit' and was quick to follow instructions. I threw in some 'downs', which were a little more difficult, although he was just as eager to accomplish the task. Boris very much throws himself into everything he does with lots of enthusiasm. Next we moved onto working on his recall. I find he's much more likely to respond correctly to my command if I make myself bouncy and exciting, so we had some fun bouncing around the playroom once I asked him to 'come'. By the end I did get a couple 'comes' even though I remained stationery and calm. Since he was all excited it was the perfect time to work on his 'sit' and 'down' while he wanted to play. Boris did very well and we moved on to some focus work. He still has a hard time holding his attention but he's starting to get the idea of the focus command.
All done with training we headed back to Tasha. I then spent some time cuddling and loving on her. Tasha was happy to get some belly rubs and sniffed my pockets in search of some treats.
