Cattery

Chief was enjoying his hammock when I headed in for a visit. As soon as he saw me he started to roll around till he was in a comfy position that also allowed him to get some good pets. After a little while it was time for Misty to have a turn around the room. I put Chief away then went to let Misty out. She was waiting patiently at her door, eager to get out. Misty gave me a quick hello then headed straight for the cubby in the cat tree. She took a little while to get perfectly comfortable, then had a nice long nap.

Groups

Macie was all about exploring today. She was determined to check every part of the yard out and do it very thoroughly. As soon as Macie stepped outside she was one with the yard. She put her nose to the ground and set off. She wandered around the yard intent on investigating every inch, enjoying the day. It even took a bit of coaxing to convince her to come inside!

The first group of littles was up next. Taylor was quick to go and say hello to the new arrivals Jake and Bella. After everyone had thorough checked one another over they went racing out to the far yard with Apple. Apple was very excited to have some new dogs to play with. She was quick to single Jake out and see if he would play with her. Sky watched his sister and couldn't resit running over to see if he could join in. Taylor was quite interested in Jake and they had some fun bouncing around and playing chase. Taylor eventually decided to take a break and Jake went racing off with Apple and Merida. Taylor and Sky decided to stay close to me and watch the others as they ran around. Taylor wandered across the yard to go and have a visit with Bella. The girls were sniffing around and enjoying each other's company, when Jake, Merida and Apple came running over. Sky left all the action to go and rub his back against the fence. Apple, Jake and Merida continued to play, while Bella took off to go and do some more exploring and Taylor came over for some pets and attention from me.

Up next was the second group of littles. Lola made her way outside where her attention was quickly captured by something beyond the fence. Coco was intrigued by Lola and made her way over to try and spot it too. After surveying the feild, Coco headed over to see what Timbits was up to. Timbits had found himself surrounded by Xiao Bao, Pearl and Miko. Xiao Bao and Pearl were only interested in giving him a good once over while Miko was bouncing around trying to convince Timbits to play. Nanook was oblivious to everything but the snow, so he set out to do some exploring and to find a fresh patch. Miko eventually convinced Timbits to join him, and soon they were having fun racing around. Coco, Xiao Bao and Pearl left them to their fun and went to go do some exploring. Lola left her surveillance post and set out along the fence line, following her nose and pausing to watch the other dogs in the yard. While Xiao Bao was hanging around, Julie came wheeling along, hoping that he was ready to play. They bounced around for a moment before Xiao Bao went racing off to the far yard join Coco, Timbits, Miko and Nanook. Julie turned her attention to Pearl who was hanging out nearby, and the girls trotted around, saying hello to Lola and Nanook as they went. Nanook found his perfect snow patch and had finished group time by rolling around, loving the cool ground on his back.

Jake and Lucy were both happy to head outside for their group. Jake was thrilled to get out and stretch his legs before trotting around the yard. Lucy on the other hand was quick to start bouncing around trying to decide between following her nose and grabbing the kong that Cabot and Tupper were pawing. She wanted me to pay attention to her, but she also wanted to run after Cabot, Tupper and their toy. After a quick visit with me, Lucy settled on running around after the duck tollers. Jake watched the other dogs for a moment, then headed out with his nose back on the ground. He then went trotting off to go and see what Bentley was up to over by the lounge. Jake joined Bentley and the boys tried their best to peek in the lounge window, until they noticed Lucy who was heading towards me. Lucy lights up when we have one-on-one time, and she has the cutest grin! Bridie came to join Lucy and I, and play bowed, asking Lucy to play. Around the same time, Jake noticed Cabot and Tupper, and went over to see what they were up to. Lucy was quick to swoop in and grab the toy and played keep away with the other dogs until it was time to head in.

The next group was bursting with energy when we entered the yard. Apollo set out and immediately found himself a toy to chew on. Bluebell bee-lined towards Sam and bounced around to get the play started. Boris hopped in on the action and he and Bluebell branched off through the gate. The pair looked like they were having so much fun that Apollo left his toy to go running after them. Apollo raced past Tasha and Kyah, who were grazing around the yard, keeping a casual eye on the action. Molly was also taking her time to explore the yard, scanning the snow for a hidden toy. She, like Apollo, was successful in her search and paraded around the yard. It didn't take long for Molly to sit at my feet wanting, to start a game. A little while later I decided to head out to the agility yard. It took the dogs a couple seconds to noticed I'd left the main yard, and when they did, they came barreling after me. Boris, Magic and Same hung back for a minute, but came bouncing into the agility yard a few minutes later. Tasha set out towards the lounge, and Boris and Same came along to say hello. Tasha nudged her son and he set off running again with Sam. With the change of scenery, Apollo headed back out to see if he could find anything more hidden toys in the new yard. He found a snowy rope toy, and tossed it around. As he was playing, he came across an ice chunk and sat down to chew on it to cool down. Bluebell, Kyah and Magic continued to race around and have a blast chasing one another. Eventually they needed a bit of a break so they headed over to one of the big rocks to help themselves to the untouched snow on top. It was pretty adorable to watch the girls since it looked like they were all eating from a table. Molly had brought her toy to the agility yard and was having fun playing with it all by herself. Eventually she did bring it back over so we could play fetch some more.

The last group of the morning mostly consisted of puppies. Hercules and Finnigan were delighted to be in a group together again. Almost as soon as they got outside, they went tearing off around the yard. Sadie who, while not a puppy, certainly loves to play. She was happy to be back with the daycare group, and took advantage of every minute of play time! Sadie is so energetic, she makes a great play buddy. Athena and Aphrodite, being the big sisters, walked around the yard casually, keeping an eye on Hercules as he played with Finnigan. Hercules noticed his sisters and took off running across the yard to greet them. He ended up having sliding in the snow towards Athena, who bounced playfully out of the way. Hercules hung around by Athena for a moment, then went running back to Finnigan. Finnigan ended up heading back to see Athena, while Hercules came to greet me. Willow made her way out to the agility yard, observing her surroundings and settling in to her very first playgroup. She headed over to me for some pets and cuddles, keeping an eye on the other dogs. Willow then went to go and say hello to Sadie, who was taking a break from playing. The girls went together to see Athena and Finnigan, who were spending time together. Sadie followed her new friend Willow as she went to greet Athena and Finn. Hercules went running over to join the gathering, which prompted Finnegan and Hercules to resume their game of chase, this time including Willow. Finnigan, Hercules and Willow made a lovely, energetic bunch. Sadie never misses out on a good game, and she dove into action. Aphrodite finally decided to join us in the agility yard, observing and wandering along casually. Willow left Finnegan and Hercules to their fun and headed back my way to have some more pets and cuddles. Aphrodite noticed that I was petting Willow, and came to join us for some one-on-one time.

Enhanced

Today for Boris' training we headed once again to the back playroom. As soon as we got there Boris was quick to give me a 'sit'. Since he seemed to want to start there that's what we did. I asked him for some 'sits' then some some 'downs', at which he's getting much quicker. Next, we moved on to some 'downs' from a stand. Boris wanted to give me a bow but eventually lowered all the way down. Next, we focused on some recall work. I wanted to keep things exciting, so I threw in some 'sits' and 'downs' in between 'come'. Boris is getting faster at these commands every day, and is learning to focus for longer periods of time. To reinforce Boris' focus, we practiced the 'watch' command. After a couple lures he was quite quick to associate eye contact with a treat.
After training, we headed back to his kennel, and I then spent some time with Tasha.I brought some treats for her, and she was happy to show off her manners to her son. Tasha sat for her treats, and she and I sat down for some snuggles.
