I headed into the cattery where I spotted Chief not curled up in the hammock for once but instead curled up in the cubby. While I was paying attention to Chief I didn't notice Misty. She seemed to just appear from nowhere. After she had a rub against my leg Misty walked a few more feet and had herself a good stretch. After her stretch her attention was caught by a bright yellow ball. Misty batted it a couple times before she came over for some pets. A little while later it was Aquinas and Marley turn to have the run of the cattery. Marley was quick to exit his cubby and set off to do a little exploring. Aquinas was more interested in getting my attention so I could give him some pets. When he'd finally had enough love Aquinas hopped down to do some exploring of his own. Marley had apparently seen all he wanted of the room and so made his way over to hop up onto the windowsill.
Groups
The first group of the morning weren't super thrilled with the cold or the ice, except for Nanook because that's pretty much what he lives for. Xiao Bao, Nanook, Tessa, Simon, and Monte all set out to do some exploring around their new ice covered surroundings. They were all quick to move to the far yard. Monte and Simon were most interested in the areas near the fence line. Xiao Bao set off to so the same when he noticed me crouching down. He then came racing over wanting to cuddle. Tessa stood a little ways away watching. She then decided to do more exploring in the main yard. Simon left Monte to go and and join Tessa. Xiao Bao joined them as well. Monte stood at the gate watching them; I think he wanted to rejoin him and explore together. Nanook also decided to head back to the main yard to do more exploring. Simon and Tessa took a little break from exploring to come over for some pets. Xiao Bao spotted this and came running over to get more love. Nanook not wanting to miss out came racing over as well. Simon left me and went to rejoin Monte in the far yard.
Duke spent his time outside completely fascinated by the ice on the ground. He set off to do a little exploring. Along the way he found a section of thin ice on the ground. Duke was quick to start smashing it. That done he settled down to eat the pieces. Duke then became very interested in a big chunk of ice right next to him. He seemed determined to break it off. Duke started with a little digging and when that didn't work tried chewing it off. He then tried a combo of both. All without much luck. Eventually he decided to give up and came over for some love.
The next group decided to immediatly head out to the agility yard. Once there they spent some time saying hello to one another. When Athena and Aphrodite were done with their greetings, they set out to do some exploring. Sadie on the other hand set out to see if anyone wanted to play with her. She was soon distracted by Cabot and Tupper and the kong toy they kept bringing to me to throw. Sadie was quite persistant in her pursual of the toy but was never quite able to get the toy away from the tollers. She eventually decided to take a break to go and have a visit with Susan. Athena and Aphrodite had apparently seen all they wanted to of the agility yard and so went wandering off out to the main yard. I let them have the yard to themselves for a few minutes before I headed out to see what they were up to. Both of them had their noses to the ground and were sampling some of the ice chunks. When she noticed me Aphrodite was quick to come over for some pets and attention. After I had given her a lot of love I made my way over to see Athena. She was so determined to get an ice chunk unstuck that she didn't notice my presence till I gave her a pat. Tupper had decided to follow me out to the main yard. He then stood watching Athena trying to figure out if maybe she had found a toy. We all then headed back to the agility yard. Sadie was still determined to get the toy away from Cabot and it wasn't too long after that she actually did. Athena and Aphrodite went back to exploring around the yard. Eventually done with toy Sadie went running off to play with Sam.
The next group was a mix of those super excited about the snow and those much less so. Miko was quick to start bouncing around wanting Pearl to play with him. Apple, Sky, Bruno, and Lola headed out to do a little bit of exploring. It wasn't long before Lola plopped herself down in the sun to watch the others. Bruno didn't seem to mind that the ground was rather hard and had thrown himself to the ground to roll like a crazy man. Miko eventually left Pearl alone to run off and do some exploring in the snow. She wasn't alone long as Apple headed over to see what she was looking at. Miko like Bruno was soon having a grand old time rubbing himself on the ice. He didn't throw himself to the ground quite like Bruno, but he still seemed to be enjoying himself. Bruno actually ended up walking over so he could roll around next to Miko. It was pretty adorable to watch. Sky didn't stay exploring long; he was definitely one of the ones less excited about the ice. He was quick to let me know that he would much rather be inside and warm then outside. Since it was so cold we didn't stay outside very long. Pearl and Apple split up to check out different parts of the yard. I headed over to have a visit with Lola who was still enjoying suntanning. I'm not sure how her bum wasn't frozen, but she seemed okay. I then left Lola to go and see Sky and let him know we were headed inside. As soon as we got in the playroom Sky and Apple were quick to start bouncing around and getting all excited.
Kanelle enjoyed a quick walk outside. We headed out the front door so we could avoid as much ice as possible. Kanelle was happy to wander around checking everything out and exploring in the newly revealed grass. When she had sniffed enough she was happy to come back inside to curl up and have a nap.
As soon as I stepped foot outside with the group I found myself being bounced on by Molly who was her typical excited self today. She didn't seem to mind the ice and cold. Bluebell was next to want some of my attention. After a quick hello she was stolen away by Barley who quite wanted to play with her. We then went to make our way out to the agility yard where Kyah, Tasha, Boris, Finnegan, Hercules, and Apollo currently were. As we headed out Kyah came trotting into the main yard. She soon found herself being looked over by Barley. Not too far behind Kyah came Boris and Apollo. Boris was happy to see the others and spent some time saying hello. Apollo on the other hand was determined to find himself a toy and so set off to explore around the yard. We then tried for the second time to head out to the agility yard. This time Finnegan came racing out with Hercules on his heels. Finnegan went running off to join Apollo in his search. Shortly after they came out Tasha made her way to the main yard. With agility yard now empty we finally made our way there. Molly, Kyah, Bluebell and Hercules set out to do some exploring. Molly soon found herself a nice kong toy, which she brought to me so we could play. Since I didn't really want her to hurt herself running on the ice we just played catch. Apollo and Finnegan came racing out to the agility yard. Once out there they split up to go and check out different parts of the yard. Hercules apparently liked the look of Apollo and went to go and follow him around. He was then distracted by the sight of Kyah balancing on the tunnel. Both Hercules and Bluebell went trotting over to watch Kyah. It soon turned into Kyah and Hercules having fun wacking at each other with their paws. Apollo wasn't alone long as he soon had Finnegan back on his heels as he went trotting around the yard. Tasha was off doing some exploring around the yard when she saw Kayh and Bluebell playing. She decided to head over and give Kyah a good once over. It then turned into her and Bluebell bouncing around and having fun. Hercules wondering what they were up to went trotting over to see about joining in. A little while later Tasha and Hercules were off exploring together and Bluebell was off racing around with Finnegan. Molly had left to trot around the yard with her toy to show it off to anyone who would look. She eventually had Boris notice. Molly then had fun leading him around the yard. She ended up losing his attention when he noticed Kyah back up on the tunnel. Boris decided that he need to go and join her.
The last group of the morning were pretty excited to get outside. Of course once they were actually outside their enthusiasm faded a bit. Maverick, Shyla and Tanner all headed out to do some exploring in the ice snow. They had initially set out to check out different areas of the yard, but Shyla decided to head over and join Tanner. After a little while they split up and Tanner found himself being followed by Maverick. They made their way over to the tunnel. After giving it a good once over they moved on. Maverick then paused to have himself a good stretch. He then went racing off as fast as he could on the not so great surface. Maverick met back up with Tanner. The two of them became very interested in a particular part of the ice. They were soon joined by Shyla, Glory and Brokk. Eventually they were done with their exploring so Tanner made his way over to me for some love and attention. Maverick saw this and was quick to head over to get some for himself.
