Cattery
Cheif was so pumped that he got to spend the day out of his condo, free to roam about the cat room as he pleases. Of course, the first thing he did was take advantage of this free time and take a long nap, cozied up in his hammock. He still loves the cat tree, and gets jealous when others try to use it! He then enjoyed a nice head scratch and a short belly rub while he laid in his hammock.
Misty is more of a window girl. Today she spent most of her time in her condo, relaxing and enjoyed a nice quiet breakfast. When it was her turn to have free time, she checked out the entire room and then perched herself on the window sill, watching everything happening outside. I took some lovely photos of her, while she posed for me, looking at me with her big, beautiful eyes. Such a purrrty kitty.

Xiao Bao was super excited to get outside today. During his morning walk, he was just getting used to the snow, but by late morning, he was loving all the fresh powder outside! He spent most of his day with one of his good friends, Nanook. Nanook was also in love with the new snow today. It was almost a struggle to get these two to come inside! Nanook did his usual thing, and ran as fast as he could around the yard, making sure to throw as much snow as possible into the air behind him. He made all the snow come down on to Xiao Bao when he was perched on top of a rock. Xiao Bao thought that getting on the rock would help him to see the entire yard, and make him feel like a big macho guy being up there. A few of the other littles crowded around to see Xiao Bao, and he just leaped off the rock into my lap as soon as they came over. He's such a quirky little cutie. Once Nanook though he had stirred up the yard enough with his personal racing game, it was time for his rolling act. He rolled in the snow for the remainder of the time outside, and then quickly scurried into the playroom with everyone else.
Lola and Pearl had a good day, although Lola seemed to be hoping she'd wake up on a beach somewhere! She is more of a Summer girl, and likes to lie in the sun on a warm day. She did appreciate that it was a little warmer out, so tried to be a good sport about it. She ventured further away from her usual hangout zone today, and into the big yard where the other dogs like to run around. Pearl is always happier when Lola comes with her into the yard, and Lola was happy with her decision today because I made sure she got some extra kisses and pets for being such a good girl. Miko accompanied these lovely ladies in the yard again today, and like always, Miko was dying to play with Pearl. He has had the biggest crush on her since they became friends and Pearl likes to play hard to get. Today, she ran right up to Miko and gave him a quick bump, inviting him to play, but afterwards, she wandered away. Miko was a little confused but was super excited. He is so cute when he gets excited; his whole body starts going and his little feet move so fast across the yard. He slowly coaxed Pearl into a game of chase and from then on, these two played all the way into the playroom, where they continued their little romantic play date.
Tinkerbell met Julie today, and wasn't really sure what to do. Julie was prancing around in her wheelchair in the snow, enticing Tinkerbell to play with her. Tink was flattered but wasn't sure how to play with Julie. Julie still took a liking to Tink though, and made sure to follow her around the whole group time! Tinkerbell did start to chase Miko around the yard today, but slowly stopped. She was in a lovey mood and had her little paws perched on my leg while I crouched down, for most of the time. I pet her head and rubbed her belly and back and she loved it.
Taylor really came out of her shell today in the yard! She still adores getting attention from everyone throughout the day, and was full of excitement when I came in first thing this morning. In the yard, she was racing around non-stop, making sure to dig her nose into the snow while she went about the yard. She had Apple and Merida running around with her! She was so excited and kept jumping up at me, begging for me to watch her roll around in the snow. I glady bent down to her and she rolled over onto her side, sweeping the snow towards me with her little paws. It was the cutest thing to watch! I rubbed her belly and even snuck her a little treat that I had in my pocket. Her eyes light up when you call her name, and it's adorable! Everytime I called her, she stopped whatever she was doing and came bounding across the yard, immediately rolling over to ask for another belly rub.
Apple was in a very cheerful mood today! She was happy to go on her short walk this morning on the trail, despite the depth of the snow. Sky didn't want to join us for the walk. He was too tired and much too comfy to leave his cozy bed, with his warm pajamas on. He joined us later in the morning for an outing with his other friends. It took some persuasion to get him up but he got out there and started to walk around. He didn't protest too much after he realized that it was warmer outside. These two cuties were joined by Merida, Mac, and Taylor, who were all really thrilled and ready to play. Merida whizzed by Apple in the yard and Apple let out a little bark at her, and I told her to go and play and after a little hesitation, she sprung after her, with her tail wagging behind her. Mac was also running around, but he was taking it easy because of his sore leg. Apple stuck more near Mac because he was more her speed. Apple had so much fun outside today. Once Sky saw how much fun Apple was having, he bounced over and contemplated joining in! He was standing in the yard not far away from where the others were. He wagged his tail under his big coat and pj's and I knew he wanted to play so I encouraged him, but I ended up just snuggling him and giving him some quality one-on-one time. All he wanted after that was some love, which I gladly gave.
Athena and Aphrodite had another great day with us. They got to spend their entire day with their little bro, Hercules! He was in the same play group with his big sisters for the day, which he really enjoyed. When the three of them go outside, Hercules likes to do his own thing and play with the younger doggies in his group. Today, his latest bestie was Sam. These two have met before but not for a couple of days now and they were beginning to miss one another! Sam went for Hercules straight away, and jumped right on his back. Hercules was ecstatic to get right into the games and fun. These two wild boys wrestled together for the longest time, until Sam's attention fell on the tennis balls. Hercules went to check on his sisters after Sam left. Athena was checking out the agility yard. The two girls decided that they would cover more ground if they split up in the yard. Aphrodite went to the back yard and began sniffing the snow. Athena found a clear piece of ice frozen under the snow and started gnawing at it with her teeth. Hercules and Aphrodite came over to see what she was doing, and before long, all three of them were trying to eat the ice! Such a silly trio these ones make.
Sadie got to explore the yard again today. She made to sure to check the same placed she did yesterday, making sure nothing has changed, and then also checked out some new spots. She loves all the new snow that came this morning, and every time she lifted her nose up from the ground, she was covered in snow. She gave me a smile every time and then returned to her nose work on the ground. Right after her outing, she got to go in the playroom and burn off some energy with Magic. These two girls both love to play, and Magic is a pretty tough girl just like Sadie, so they never stop wrestling. When it was time to go back, Sadie let us know that she wasn't ready to leave the playroom just yet and rolled over, showing her belly. Of course this was an invite for Tayler to rub her belly so she gladly did and then let Sadie hangout there for a little longer.
One of the groups today was all huskies! It was so cute to see all the fluffy huskies running around together. Mocha got stuck being the odd ball, but she loves them all, so she didn't mind. The majority of the group were playing outside, and everyone had so much fun! Immediately, Magic and Boris got together for a wrestling game, and not long after, Isis joined in and it became a boys vs. girls game and Boris made sure to go easy on the ladies. Kyah made sure to stick a paw into the games every once and a while. She loves to wrestle around with Isis when she isn't preoccupied playing with someone else. Tasha and Lobo reunited today and Tasha was in a playful mood and kept trying to get Lobo to play with her. She pawed at his face and back and started to paw at his feet even. Lobo was wagging his tail the whole time, loving the attention from Tasha, but he was in a lounging mood. Tasha then went to see if Boris was up for a game, but he was busy entertaining the other husky ladies so Tasha went to see her mom, Issy. Issy was in the main yard, doing her usual rounds with her nose to the ground. She joined Mocha in the main yard after everyone else went to the agility yard to play. Mocha was happy to get the yard all to herself!
When I returned to the agility yard after visiting the quieter ladies, Boris, Magic and Isis were still into their wrestling match. Kimi had now joined in and made it into a game of chase around the yard. I followed them into the main yard when they all went scooting in. I turned by back to them for a second to pet Mocha when she was sitting by the door, and the big group of them almost took us both out while they were running by! Crazy ones they are! After they bolted by, Mocha just looked up at me, wagged her tail for a second and then nudged my hand for more pets.
Molly and Apollo were at it again with the battle over the toys in the yard. Today they completely forgot about the rope toy that is frozen in the ground and moved on to play with every other toy they could find. Apollo began with a raw bone that he found. He laid on the ground, chewing at it with his paws wrapped around it, making sure that Molly couldn't get to it even if she tried. Molly had found her own toy in the meantime. She dug up an old rope-like ball that had been buried since last night. She did the same thing with her toy that Apollo did with his. Neither one of them wanted to stray from their toy, but Molly's curiosity got the best of her and she wandered over to Apollo to check things out. He abandoned his toy and went bounding over to steal hers! Molly knew she had been beat, but decided to make it into a game. She went and raced Apollo to her ball and stole it back. Apollo stood there in front of her and then decided to grab it as well. The two of them stayed there with either end of the toy in their mouth. They're such a funny pair to watch!
Since the moment we got outside, Bluebell stuck to my side the entire time. I didn't mind one bit, because she is such a gentle girl and loves to get attention. Tsavo was fascinated with Bluebell, and immediately tried getting her to play. Bluebell simply told Tsavo that she wasn't in the mood, though, and that she was busy being cuddled. That didn't stop Tsavo from following Bluebell around the whole time. She nestled herself in between my legs and then sat on my boots and rested her head against my legs for as long as I stood still. She was feeling the love today! She was in great spirits this morning as well. For her first outing of the day, she was very excited and was jumping up and down to get outside, and then was climbing all over Tayler, demanding to play! She had a good day.
Tsavo never gave up on her though! She did go off into the yard and say hello to the rest of the crew, but almost always came back to Blubell to see what she was doing, and if she had changed her mind about playing yet.
Lucy was so excited to be staying with us today, and her first day went great! We began with a walk on the trail outside, while it was still snowing. Lucy and I were joined by Apollo and Bentley, two very nice gentleman, which Lucy got to see later on during her group time! Lucy was beaming with excitement when I brought the leash to her kennel. She paraded through the snow the entire time, making sure not to miss an opportunity to run around. During groups, she got along great with the other dogs. Tsavo and her became fast friends, and Lucy enjoyed her company in the yard. When she wasn't hanging around with Tsavo, she was just taking the rest of her time outside to enjoy the snow. She was bolting back and forth, stirring up the yard as she went and allowed me take some super cute photos of her! She is such a pleasure to have with us.
Jake also had a good first day with us! His morning started off with a walk on the trail, with our good friend Sadie. Jake absolutely loves Sadie. Sadie was really fond of Jake as well, and the two of them even started playing halfway through their walk, and again right at the end. Jake was a little bit sleepy when we got back from trudging though the snow, so he took a nice nap and was ready to go again later on. At group time, he wasn't joined by Sadie, but was still happy with the other dogs that accompanied him. He wandered around the yard, checking everything out to see if it has changed since his last stay. Once he was satisfied with everything he saw, he came to me to let me know all is well, and gave me a sweet kiss on the cheek. He's such a charming fellow.
The last group of the day was the craziest of them all! All the energetic dogs got put together and it was one big, fun game for everyone! The first one to get things started was Percy. He likes to get all the other dogs amped up before the playing begins. He came into the yard today and waited to see who would join him. He was happy to see his regular friends, Teddy, Cai and Spencer join him outside. Percy usually doesn't pick favorites in the yard, but Teddy is one of his favorite friends at daycare. Once everyone was settled in and said their hellos, the games began and everyone was going full out! Finnigan met Dougie today and Dougie immediately decided that they were going to be best friends. Finnigan was a little overwhelmed with all the dogs trying to play with him at once, but he settled into it just fine and then started to get Dougie to chase him around the yard. Once Dougie got tired of running, he noticed Brokk hanging out in the corner of the yard. He tackled Brokk which instigated playtime. Dougie and Brokk played for a little while, and then Finn wanted to play with Brokk. Brokk then branched off from Dougie and he and Finn went off to the main yard to have it out with each other!
Teddy really made the most of his time outside today! He loved his morning walk, joined by some of his friends. Later on, he was in the really crazy group and made sure to play with as many dogs as possible in the time that he had. He started with Percy, and these two ran around for a little while. Afterwards, he tagged along with Dougie and Finnigan. Once these two split up, he made his way over to Brokk and ended up running circles around him while Brokk laid down in the snow. Teddy loves to run and had so much fun with the other dogs outside. Once Brokk left, Teddy, Percy and Dougie started their own game of chase and made their way up and down the yards, weaving by the other dogs.
Cai had a good day today as well. He made sure to sniff all the fences and doors to get a whiff of any new smells. Once he walked all the yards, he moved to the agility yard again with the other dogs after a little bit. He went and said hello to the other dogs, but he was most interested in Glory. Glory was sniffing the fences just like Cai was, so he went over to say hello. He was taken with Glory and wanted to be her friend so he stayed with her the whole time. i think he's looking forward to coming back next week!

I had the pleasure of coming in early today to work with Boris and Tasha. I gathered up some of their kibble and treats and we headed outside to play and do a bit of training. I let them have a sniff around the yard to get some of the distractions out of the way, but Tasha's nose was too keen and knew I had treats in my pocket. She stuck close by my side while we watched Boris explore for a bit. Once he had some some sniffing out of the way I called him over. He wasn't too convinced at first but once I showed him I had treats and it would be fun he pranced his way over. Tasha was showing off all her commands doing instants sits and downs. Boris has sitting down pat but laying down needs a bit more convincing. With Mom by his side though he caught on quickly with a bit of luring. After spending some time outside Boris and I moved into the playroom to continue working on his down. I did really quick repetitions with a leash to help guide him. He eventually got the hang out it and was laying down all by himself when I asked. We are hoping to continue the quick sit, down repetion to get an instant down from him so owners Mom and Dad can have a little more control of his crazy puppy energy (:
