Chief was hanging out in his customary spot in the hammock when I walked in. He greeted me with a little chirp. Chief then started rolling around trying to entice me to rub his belly. I gave him a quick pet then went to see what Ziggy was up to. I found him hanging out in his cubby just relaxing. I gave Ziggy some pets then went to go see Missy. As I turned around I noticed that Chief had abandoned the hammock to sit on the part of the cat tree closest to me. Once again he demanded some pets, so I gave in to his demands. When Chief was finally satisfied, I went to visit with Missy. Like Ziggy, Missy was curled up in her cubby. She looked very cosy in her little nap nook, so I just said a quick hello as not to disturb her. I have her some ear rubs then let Missy get back to her nap.
Groups
The first group of the morning was full of beans! Shyla couldn't wait to start racing around and did just that as soon as her feet touched the snow. Scarlett, Max P. and Maverick headed to the far yard to do a little exploring. Shyla realized that everyone was very busy exploring, so she decided to join in for a little while. Scarlett took a quick break from exploring to come over and say hello to me. When she was finished her greeting, Scarlett trotted across the yard with her nose to the ground. Rupert did a lap of the yard then found himself a good place to sit and watch the others. Rupert watched as Shyla pounced over to Max P. to see if he was up for some play time. The pair bounced around for a little while until something else caught Shyla's eye and she took off to investigate. Rupert left his stoop to make his way over to me, determined to find a toy that I, unfortunately, didn't have. He looked at me as if I was hiding a toy, waiting for me to throw it, so I walked around in search of something for Rupert to play with. Shortly after we headed out to the agility yard, where Scarlett was quite excited to find herself a toy. She was quick to snatch it up and going racing off, which got Rupert wound up and chasing after her! He doubled back to see if I'd found any good toys yet, and Shyla joined Rupert on his way. She then went racing over to demand that he play with her, which Rupert was happy to do! Max P. wondered what all the hullabaloo was about and he stopped trotting around the yard to make his way over to Rupert, Scarlett and I. He was then quite happy to sit when I asked so I could get some nice pictures. Max P. then headed out to join Maverick as he went trotting around the yard checking out whatever caught his attention. Shyla didn't have much luck getting Rupert to play with her so I went to play with her instead. Max P., not wanting to be left out, came over to join in. We ended up heading back out to the far yard where Maverick made his way over to me for some cuddles and pets when he was finished exploring. Scarlett and Max P. met up and started to wrestling and had a great time.
The next group to make their way outside couldn't wait to get playing! Max Q. was especially very excited after being away for a couple of weeks. Everyone went running out to the far yard where they did a couple laps before pausing to check something out in the snow. It wasn't long before Finnigan was back to racing around with Max Q. in tow. Tanner left the exploring to come over to me for some pets and love. He always bounces over and bumps up against whoever is outside, asking for love. He's such a funny guy! Finnigan went charging over to Tanner so see if he wanted to play. Tanner was quick to agree and soon the two of them were having a blast. Max Q., not wanting to miss out on any fun, went racing over to join in. He didn't stick around long and went boucing over to see if Magic would play with him. Finnigan and Tanner continued to run and wrestle while the others hopped about trying to start a game. Max Q. caught a glimpse of Finn and Tanner and raced over to join in the fun. He raced around for a minute or two before running into Isis, who joined him in a lap of the yard. Finnigan took a little break from playing with Tanner to chew on a bone he found in the snow. It wasn't long before he was back and pouncing on his buddies. For a change of scenery, we headed out to the agility yard, where Tanner decided to take a break from playing to come and hang out with me some more. Finnigan finished off his group time by racing around with Magic, Isis and Max.
Miko Man started his day by going for a walk on the trail with his buddies Ginger and Teddy. He seemed to enjoy the mild weather today and had lots of pep in his step. Later at group time, Miko couldn't wait to get outside. He went charging out to check out a couple things around the yard. When he was satisfied, Miko came racing over to me for some pets. He then went speeding off to do a little more exploring, but Merida zipped by and caught his attention. Miko couldn't help but go racing around with her. Merida and Miko had so much fun tearing around the yards. Soon the whole group was involved, even Julie in her wheelchair!
The next group was kind of like having two different groups in one. As I made my way out the door with Sadie, I found Bandit going around the far yard checking things out by himself. The others had all run off to the agility yard, but Bandit and Sadie didn't seem to mind. They were alone and were soon having a great time racing around just the two of them. I wanted to go check on the others so I made my way out to the agility yard. Bandit and Sadie tagged along, and as we entered, Sadie met up with Kelly. The two of them then spent some time checking one another over. Ripley, wondering what they were up to, went trotting over to join in. Bandit apparently had no need for checking anyone over as he met up with Kane and they immediately started ripping around the yard. It didn't take long for Ripley to leave Sadie and Kelly to go racing to join the boys. Sadie and Kelly were eventually done checking each other over so Sadie went racing off to join Bandit, Kane and Ripley. Casey was enjoying going around the yard at her own pace. She then decided to take a little break and have a seat by the fence. I headed over to give her some attention and pets, which she seemed quite happy to receive. Casey then met up with Kelly, and the two of them decided to make their way out to the main yard and I tagged along with them. We were joined by Ripley and Bandit, but Bandit headed out to the far yard do some exploring while Ripley started leaping around. Casey and Kelly ended up heading out join Bandit in his exploring around the far yard as well. When the others wouldn't play with her Ripley went racing back to the agility yard and Kane. Bandit wasn't too far behind with Casey, Kelly and I bringing up the rear. Bandit ran to rejoin Kane and Ripley. Casey and Kelly set out to do a little exploring together.
Macie and Justice went racing out to the door and into the yard. They made their way out to the far yard where they put their noses to the ground and set off to do some exploring. Eventually they had seen all they wanted to see, so they raced off to the agility yard. Macie and Justice entered the agility yard and instead of slowing down to sniff, took off racing! The pair zigged and zagged around the boulders until they both needed to take a breather. Macie took a bit of a break to go and have a visit through the window with the dogs in the playroom. When she was finished saying hello, Macie went back to have another round with Justice.
Enhanced
Max is still very excited to get out and do some training. We started today with some work on his greetings. Since Max has a tendency to jump, we've been teaching him to 'sit' whenever he starts to jump. He's really starting to get it and after a couple bounces sits nicely and waits. We then headed to a new room to do some recall work. The room contained a lot of new distractions while not being overwhelmingly distracting. I was quite impressed with how well Max focused on me and came quickly each time. We then moved on to a game. Today I kept a finger on Max's collar to see if he would break the 'stay' to charge after some treats that I placed on the floor. He impressed me by not even attempting to break it until I told him he could go and get the treats.
