Ollie and I spent some time in the playroom together and we started by seeing where he was at with his basic commands. I started by getting him to sit, which he did wonderfully each time with little trouble unless he was distracted. Then I asked him to stay in his sitting position as I walked away slowly for a few steps before I asked him to come. He did that very well and each time I did it I would walk further away as he stayed in his spot. I was trying to get him to lay down but that still needs some practice; like many dogs, he's more willing to give you paw than to lay down. After I gave him lots of cuddles and rewarded him with his treats, he gave me lots of kisses and even sat right on my lap as I was petting him.
Groups
Bandit, Ripley, and Max were inseparable today. When Max
came out during the first outdoor play time rotation, all of the dogs in the
group were very happy to meet a new friend. In particular, Ripley was very
excited to see him and it wasn’t long before they started playing. They ran
around the yard together. Bandit noticed how much fun they were having, and ran
right over. From that moment the trio of dogs didn’t stop playing all day!
Molly and Jack had so
much fun playing today. Every time they knew they were going outside, they
would start bouncing around with excitement. During their first outdoor play
time, Molly ran around the yard as soon as she got outside, with Jack following
behind her. Molly found an orange ball and picked it up. Her and Jack brought
it over to me, and barked with excitement. I threw the ball, and they both went
racing after it.
Nellie was such a cuddler today. While outside, she happily
greeted her new friends in the group. After saying hello, she started to make
her way over to me. I knelt down and she came right up to me. I pet her head,
then she flopped right onto her back for some belly rubs. She didn’t even mind
lying around in the snow as long as she was getting cuddles!
Ollie had a lot of fun with Leo and Brody. Leo would come
over to Ollie and lift a paw on his back or playfully pounce. Brody saw them
playing then came over and started to join in as well. A while later, when
Ollie was exploring the yard, his friend Julie came over to him and started
barking. Like most of the dogs, Ollie watched Julie with great curiosity.
Maya and Rocky had a good day. Maya was super happy to be
going outside with her friends. She instantly greeted everyone in the yard,
then started playing with Timbits. They had a lot of fun, and were chasing each
other all over the yard. Rocky was busy getting lots of cuddles from me. He
enjoyed having his chin scratched and back rubbed.
Cara and Brody were full of energy. Cara was super happy
every time we went outside, and she would bounce around as soon as her paws hit
the snow. She would run around the yard then come over to me and pounce. Brody
had a great time exploring the yard. He also played with Leo and Ollie.
Coco and Timbits enjoyed playing today. The first thing
these two did when they got outside was start running around together. Timbits
seems to enjoy jumping all over Coco then letting her chase him away. Coco
wandered off and decided to explore in the snow. She stuff her nose into the
snow and then licked it off her nose. Meanwhile, Timbits played with Maya.
Macie had a lot of fun with Justice today. They enjoyed
their walk together, then shortly after went out for their outdoor play time.
They greeted each other outside, then went on to explore on their own. Macie
was exploring around the play structure in the yard. Her and Justice came
running over to me as soon as they realized I had treats in my pocket.
Kelley and Casey enjoyed some good cuddles today. The girls
were both super happy as usual, I noticed that their tails never stop wagging!
When they got outside for their group play time, Kelley enjoyed wandering
around the yard. She sniffed around the snow. Meanwhile, Casey came right up to
me for cuddles. Kelley eventually wandered her way over to us and joined in for
some cuddles.
Rupert had a lot of fun playing today. He was bouncy and
excited when he got outside for group play time. He found a rubber bone toy and
was immediately wanting to play. He ran up to me with the toy in his mouth and
placed the toy by my feet. He stared at me intensely until I whipped the toy
across the yard. He went racing after it. He kept coming back for more rounds
of fetch. He never seemed to get tired!
Shyla and Maverick enjoyed each other’s company today. They
both had a good time on their walk today, and seemed to be exploring the trails
so much. After coming back from their walk, they were ready to go outside for
their outdoor group play. Maverick raced around the yard as soon as he was
outside, and Shyla watched him. She began to chase after him. He would quickly
escape from her catching up to him by changing direction sharply.
Delilah had a great day. She had a great time walking with
Scarlett on the trails in the morning. She was happy to see Scarlett again in
her group outside during play time. She greeted everyone in the group and then
decided to explore around the yard for a while. Occasionally, she would come up
to me for a quick cuddle. Delilah’s favourite part of the day seemed to be
curling up in her bed and getting cozy.
Maggie had a great time playing today. Her bed was super
cozy and warm this morning, so getting out of it for her morning walk was a bit
of struggle. Despite this, once she was out and on her walk she had a great time!
During outdoor group play time, Maggie was bouncing all over the place. She
went from dog to dog, saying hello and pouncing around. She ran up to me so
many times, and backed herself up against me so that she could get a back rub.
Cats
Ziggy was sleeping on the ledge in his suite when I walked in. I woke him up and his eyes opened so brightly, he started to roll over on the ledge to get me to pet his tummy. He kept on doing it and didn't want me to stop. I tried to get him to come down and see me but he seemed too content up there.
Cheif was laying in his special spot on the cat tree. He was all snuggled up in a ball taking a snooze until I woke him up. I started to pet his head and he liked it for a little bit but then he wanted space. I started waving a wand around his face for him to play with and he loved it; he didn't get up though of course. He was trying to catch it laying down.
Missy was laying on a nice cushion in her suite this morning. I opened up the door of her suite to say hi and she quickly moved to the next one. She likes coming to you rather than when you go to her. Eventually she came to me and I gave her some cuddles before she hopped up on the window sill and watched everything that was going on outside. She likes to watch the customers come and go during the day.
