It's so great to see Rumple spending more time up and out of his cubby. Today he was peeking out when I went in to see them, and Rumple hopped down from his perch right away. He made his way onto the windowsill for a quick peek outside and then off the shelf and under the chair. He rubbed his chin on the leg so I went over to give him some scratches too. Harlow was being very affectionate today too, and ran across the room to join us. It was so lovely sitting down with both of these boys, enjoying some relaxing time together. Harlow soon climbed up on my lap and rubbed his chin on mine. Rumple went to listen to the goings on on the other side of the door, while Harlow continued to climb across my lap, looking for extra love. Harlow joined Rumple by the door and the boys sat together for a little while. When Rumple went back to look out the window, I found a toy that Harlow quite liked, and we spent some time playing with it together. He batted away at the rainbow pompom, loving the way it crinkled. He picked it up and walked around with it sticking out of his mouth, which was absolutely adorable!
Sam had another fun filled day with a lovely small group of
dogs. When Sam finds dogs that match her play style, she really sparks and
interest and her play interest perks up. The moment Sam saw three new friends
in the yard she darted to them and began to greet them. After circling around
Justice, Kyah, and Pippin numerous times she finally felt like she knew them
enough to play. Sam was quick to pair up with Pippin and begin dancing around.
Sam and Pippin were adorable dancing around in the snow, slipping a little bit
which only got them playing even more. Their silly actions were very fun to
watch. Their dancing soon turned into a full on boxing match. Both these girls
are very sturdy on their hind legs, holding one another up by wrapping their arms
around each others necks. They walked around in a hugging position, on and off
for a while. This game was very fun for the both until Sam spotted her two
husky friends Kyah and Justice playing around in the tunnel. Sam quickly parted
from Pippin’s side to check out what the tunnel was all about. She wasn’t as
confident with this mysterious dark hole as her husky pals were. Kyah and
Justice were zooming in and out of it as well as running across the top while
Sam darted back and forth along the outside and stuck her head in and out of
each end. This kept her mind very busy and her body very active. She still
couldn’t figure out how they were going in and out with such confidence, and
continued to follow them for a long period. Finally Kyah bolted out one end,
starting a giant chase. The group of four bolted around the yard with very
happy tails for a while. Sam couldn’t have been happier to be apart of such
busy, fun action.
Bear and I had a nice slow morning stroll with another older
pal named Mocha. These two led me down the driveway at their own pace, stopping
to sniff lots of things. Bear was very interested in the crunchy snow, walking
through it and burying his muzzle as deep as possible. Bear was happy to be
apart of a quieter, senior group this afternoon. He was pleased to go outside a
different yard than yesterday, providing him with lots of things to sniff and
explore. He wandered around the yard with his nose to the ground for most his
time outside. Jersey, an older blind girl, was very interested in Bear despite
her loss of vision. She was very flirty towards him which he enjoyed. The pair
walked in circles around each other wagging their tails, sniffing one another,
until they decided they had enough. After this Bear parked himself by my side
where he happily received lots of pets and cuddles until it was time to head
back indoors.
Bruno has truly been enjoying his stay with
us so far and he especially loves his extra attention time with us up front!
Today, this silly boy joined us in the kitchen for lunch and boy did he feel
special! His whole body wiggled with excitement as he sat beside Leah on the
floor and gave her some extra wet kisses and nose nudges to the face! He didn’t
care about the food; he just enjoys his human companionship and all of the
extra head and belly rubs that he gets at the same time!At one point he was so
thrilled, that he rolled around on his back in pure happiness as he spent the
rest of the hour with us like the good little boy he is. We surely enjoyed the
company as much as he did! His signature roll on his back was seen earlier in
the morning when he joined his little friends out in the yard for some
playtime! Back and forth he would endlessly roll around in the snow as if he
was giving himself a good back scratch and little Shelby watched in amusement.
His friends today weren’t all little; he had a good play with ball-loving
Charly and the two of them ran laps around the yard side by side and were an
unusual but happy pair!
Spencer usually come to visit us for
daycare but this time around he is excited to be boarding with us and that
means the fun never ends for this goofy long-haired pooch! Spencer is such a
gentle soul and truly gets along great with all of the other dogs and brings
such a fun-loving energy to his group. But first things first he has to make
his usual laps of the yard like the curious boy he is. He has probably made
hundreds if not thousands laps around that yard in all of his time here, but he
truly acts as if it’s the first time he has ever been out and enjoys every
minute sniffing it out. Only occasionally would his head pop up with his big
tongue flopping out the side of his mouth when I called his name but then it
was right back to his nose in the ground. His energy really comes out towards
the end of group where he interacts more with his friends and today he started
a little dance with his favourite Golden boy Jax!
Jax is another one of those pups that is
just beaming with good energy that all of the other dogs seem to be so
attracted to. He definitely wins the award for most popular as he could hardly
keep up with everyone that wanted to play with him. First it was gentle-giant
Duke who couldn’t keep his paws of Jax as he enticed him to play with a paw to
his back. The two of these silly boys had some good wrestles before Jax became
occupied with the others and started a group wrestle with Dawson, Leah and
Poppy. He was a busy boy this morning and that meant he was due for an
afternoon nap but don’t let him fool you; he was just as eager to get back out
the second and third time around. We are really going to miss out Jax-boy and
can’t wait to see him again next time!
Duke has been extremely playful this visit
and today was no different. He found a friend in Jax and played all morning
long as they ran back and forth and jumped up on their hind legs to tango! Duke
was just happy to have a friend that could keep up with him and Jax provided
just that for him. When I was finally able to break Duke’s attention, he
excitedly ran over to me when I called his name and I think sometimes he
forgets just how big he is! With a hip-check to my legs, he was right by my
side and enjoyed some head rubs as we watched new pal Jax cause a storm with
Dawson and the ladies. He then heard something in the adjacent yard and ran
over to watch Leah and her gang like the good watch dog he is! Much like Jax,
Duke will surely be missed as he heads home tomorrow but I’m sure it wont be
long until we see that loveable face again! Duke has been such an affectionate boy this week! He came back up to the reception area for some special one-on-one time, and he was more than happy to share lots of love with Tiffani and Leah. After lots of back scratches from Tiffani, Duke went to visit Leah for a good belly rub. She brushed him while he laid on his back and his back leg started kicking away! Duke hopped up from his pampering to pick up a tennis ball. He tossed it around for himself until it was time to head back to his kennel.
