Sophie is such a sweetheart! She was smiling and wagging her tail right from the start this morning. For walks she joined Spencer and Oliver, and had lots of fun running around with Spencer on the trail. Whenever the dogs slowed down to have a good sniff, Sophie would run to the deep snow and dive headfirst into it, wriggle around, and then her face would resurface and she would have a good roll. This must have happened about five times before we made it back! Sophie was covered in snow and I spent a minute dusting her off and giving her a cuddle. For groups, she was happy to be back outside and made her rounds to say hello to everybody. Sophie seemed interested in Sam and the girls gave each other a sniff before trotting to the far yard together. I knelt down to take a picture of them and Sophie immediately came flying over, almost tackling me into the snow in all of her excitement. I gave her as much attention as she wanted and then Sophie went bouncing away again to find her friend. On her way to meet up with Sam, she got distracted by Spencer trotting past and hurried after him to see if he was smelling anything interesting. For the next few minutes, Sophie wandered around the yard and explored the snow thoroughly, and whenever she noticed me she would run over for some more cuddles. It didn't take long before Sophie was back to rolling in the snow. She had all four feet waving around. Then Sophie hopped up once more and went racing over to see what Sam was up to. She was bouncing up and down, and cheering on Sam and Poppy, who were playing around with each other. Although she wasn't getting in on the action herself, she seemed to enjoy watching the rest of the dogs playing while Sophie ran around them or sat with me and kept me company. She is always in such a happy mood!
Spencer couldn't wait for his walk this morning; he was so excited and was practically buzzing with energy as I was getting him from his kennel. It took me a few tries to get his leash on! Once everybody was ready to head out, Spencer followed after Sophie and Oliver, and the three of them immediately went bounding into the snow. They didn't seem to mind that the trail had mostly been blown over, and Spencer was happy to bounce through the drifts. Occasionally he would stick his entire head in the snow, and then flop over onto his side for a roll. Once Spencer had wriggled around enough, he would hop to his feet and give himself a good shake before continuing on his way. We eventually made it back with three snow-covered dogs. Spencer was still full of energy by the time we headed out for groups. The other dogs started playing right away, though Spencer wanted to take his time exploring the yard. He headed over to the far yard with Sophie to sniff around. Spencer found the tunnel quite fascinating and spent some time poking his head around inside. Then he noticed Sam and Poppy chasing each other across the yard and went leaping after them. Sam wanted to wrestle with Spencer, though Spencer quickly bounced out of the way and went running off again. He spent some time sprinting back and forth across the yard, until eventually he had used up some of his excessive energy and came hurrying over to cuddle with me for a bit. He looked so cute bouncing around in the snow. I spent some time giving him a good scratch behind the ears. Then Spencer went off to see what the other dogs were doing again. He spent the rest of group time sprinting after Sam and Poppy while they were playing. Spencer is such a playful guy, even though he didn't want to wrestle with anyone he had a great time running around with everybody. For Spencer's extra attention today, we spent some time in reception cuddling with Tiffani and Delaney. When he got up to reception, I gave him a few treats for being such a good boy, then we went through the toy box to find a toy for him. When he finally chose the rope toy, Spencer and I had a tug of war for a few minutes before I finally gave up. After playing around Spencer and I spent some time cuddling before it was time to go back to his kennel.
Sam had such a great day to start of her stay with us. She was ready to go for the first group of the day and wasted no time following the other dogs into the yard. As everybody was still waking up, Sam spent this time checking out the yard. A bit later it was time for walks. Sam joined her friends Resa and Tennya, and was super happy to be on the trail and exploring with them. Sam seemed to enjoy bounding through the snow drifts and was busy poking her nose into every hole and crevice she could find. When it was once again time for groups, she quickly bounced out the door to say hello to the dogs in her group. Sam greeted Sophie and gave her a brief sniff before the two girls made their way over to the far yard to wander around in the snow together. After that, Sam came running over to cuddle with me. She's such a cutie! I gave her a nice back scratch and once Sam was content with the attention, she went prancing off to find something new and exciting to do. The dogs were still making sure that everything in the yard was as it should be, so Sam decided to join them for a bit. She was racing all over the yard. I could tell that Sam wanted to play, and luckily for her the other dogs were starting to get wound up as well! Sam's new friend Poppy trotted over to see what Sam was doing. She gently poked Sam with her nose and then play-bowed in front of her. Sam quickly accepted this invitation and the girls were soon bouncing around together. A crowd gathered to watch them play and everybody had such a great time running around. Sam, of course, was right in the middle of the action. Later Sam and Poppy were joined by Leah, though soon Sam decided it was time for a break and ended up at my side again, looking for more snuggles. For her extra attention today, Sam and I spent some time in the reception with Susan. When we got to the front, Sam ran over to the door to look out the glass and to see if there was anyone outside, but after she realized that no one was there she came over to me and I gave her a few treats. After spending some time cuddling around in the reception, Sam showed off her basic commands including catching a treat, sit, paw and lie down. Sam is such a pleasure to play with! Before it was time to go back to her kennel, Sam and I spent some time cuddling some more.
Duke could hardly wait to get the day started. He was up and ready to go for our first group of the day. After a walk a bit later in the morning with his friend Zak, he was still bursting with energy and definitely anticipating his next group time. Duke was sitting patiently at his kennel door when it was his turn to go outside. He practically flew out the door after the other dogs and wasted no time sprinting to the agility yard, where Duke proceeded to run back and forth as he attempted to sniff everything. He happily said hello to Oliver and Dragon, and decided to explore with them for a little bit. While Duke had his nose buried in snow, he noticed me taking a picture and quickly came bouncing over. There weren't any toys nearby, but I could tell Duke wanted to play, so I improvised and got a handful of fluffy snow for him. He leaped up with all four feet off the ground and attempted to catch all of it in his mouth. Most of it ended up on his head! Then Duke hurried over to me and sat down, waiting for the next handful. He had so much fun jumping around and trying to catch the snowflakes as they fell. We paused for a break and Duke was happy to cuddle with me as I gave him a nice back rub and brushed off the snow on his nose. This got the attention of Gryphon and Mel, who both hurried over to see what was going on. The three of them were all climbing over each other to get their cuddles. While I was giving Mel his turn, Duke decided that he had enough attention and he went to wander around on his own. It wasn't long before Duke was back at my side, this time with Gryphon in tow, waiting to play again. I started scooping up handfuls of snow while Duke bounced around and Gryphon cheered him on. After that, Duke was wound up and he went to go run around with Chloe and Gryphon before it was eventually time to head inside.
Jax is such a loving boy. He started his day off with a nice trail walk with his best pals Mel, Chloe and Delaney. Jax spent some time sniffing around in a few bushes, sniffing around in some trees, and he also stopped to roll around in the snow for a few minutes. Throughout his walk, Chloe and Jax played as they walked beside each other, while Mel stayed to the side. When he got back to his kennel, Jax curled up on his bed and relaxed. For his group today, Jax spent most of his time with his pals Pippin and Millie; they wrestled around the yards like there was no tomorrow. Although Jax enjoyed playing, by the end of the group time he was ready to head back to bed for another snooze.
Cara and Brodie are such a cute pair. For their walk this morning, they got to spend some time with their favourite person, Eric. On their walk, they walked beside Eric the whole time, careful not to venture too far away from him, but near the end they both spend some time sniffing around in the trees. When Eric put them back in their kennel, he spent a few minutes cuddling with them and giving them some love, needless to say they really enjoyed it. For their group today, Cara and Brodie had so much fun with all of their pals. Brodie stayed quietly sniffing around for most of the group, but Cara was the life of the party! Cara ran around the yard with her pal Bruno for most of the group, but before we went back inside she made sure to take some time to sniff around. When Cara and Brodie got back inside, they curled up in their beds and went to sleep.
Bruno had such a fun day with us. For his walk this morning, he got to spend some time with this pals Max, Tomi and Kelsey. As the trio walked along the trail, Bruno stopped every hundred feet to have a quick roll around but then it was back to business for Mr. Bruno. Before we got back inside, Bruno and his pals spent some time playing around, as they couldn’t wait any longer. As soon as Bruno had his coat off he ran into his kennel and onto his nice warm bed. For his group today, Bruno spent some time playing with his pal Cara as everyone else sat back and watched, but soon enough Bruno decided to go sniff around. For his extra attention today, Bruno and I spent some time in reception cuddling and playing around. When he got to reception, he said hi to his friends Julie, Resa and Susan before he found a toy that he liked. Before he went back to his kennel, Bruno and I spent some time on one of the big comfy chairs cuddling as I gave him a few treats.
Nymeria had an awesome day at daycare today. She started off with a nice trail walk with her pals Nyxx and Kelsey. As soon as they got outside, Nymeria and Nyxx wrestled each other to the ground and rolled around playing. When we got to the trail, Nymeria hopped through the snow like a bunny, as she was so excited about the fresh powder blowing around. When we got to the middle of the trail, Nyxx and Nym started playing around again until she finally told him it was time to start walking again. For her group today, Nym had a blast with all of her husky and non-husky pals. As soon as she got out the door and saw Vega, the pair took off like rockets around the yard. As Nymeria played with all of her pals, she started woo-ing, as our pack was howling, and the rest of the dogs did too. It was so adorable. Before I took her back inside I gave her some love and a yummy cookie.
