Allie was curled up in the hammock, watching the snow fall from the sky, when I joined her in the cattery. She quickly got up and stretched giving me a big MEOW hello. She climbed down out of the hammock to get closer to me for some chin rubs. I offered her some treats out of our treat jar, but apparently for Allie that is too easy. She refused the treats despite being the ultimate treat thief from the cupboard. Maybe it's because I was watching her, she didn't want to be proven guilty as the treat thief. I threw some toys in the air for her and she thought this was great fun, me doing all work while she batted her paw at the odd one knowing it to the ground. Typical cat, make the humans do all the work while they lazily participate, plotting their next big move.

Rufus and Sherman had another great day with us. The boys were so excited when they saw me walk down the hall with their leashes. The pair began dancing all around their kennel and could barely settle down long enough for me to hook them up to their collars. On our walk, Rufus and Sherman led the way with pride. Their friend Shelby trotted behind them, following in their little footsteps. When group time rolled around the yard was coated with a fresh layer of snow. This kept them very entertained, as their noses were very busy. The boys wandered around the whole perimeter of the yard and then mazed their way throughout the yards investigating all the new smells. Occasionally, they would bump in to one another and get a little wrestling match started. This never lasted long as their noses always took over, leading them back to sniffing. The duo was also very interested in a new puppy that joined us today for daycare. Both Rufus and Sherman were so kind to her. They gave her lots of sniffs and also politely asked her to play.
Sherman and Rufus are a couple of smart cookies! I set up a little game for them in the paw-shaped puzzle where I hid treats in all of the little compartments. Sherman went straight for the outside compartments in the paw's toes. Rufus tackled the wheel of the paw, where he had to rotate the circle to uncover each section and its hidden treat. Even after all of the treats were uncovered and eaten, Rufus was determined to find more! He picked up the whole paw puzzle, which was very funny. Sherman went and found himself a bone while Rufus continued to investigate the puzzle. Eventually, Rufus was satisfied that all of the treats were gone, and moved on to the toy bin. He found a bone, too and went to the rug to chew on it. Sherman, on the other hand, went to dig the nylabone from the bin and carried it over to the dog bed. The boys spent some time chewing away, before Sherman decided to come for some cuddles, and Rufus went to play with a tennis ball.

Maya was very keen to get here this morning and motor down the hall. Her little brother Rocky wasn’t too far behind, trying his hardest to keep up. Once they got in their kennel they were quick to settle down and assume their usual cuddling position. When it was time for Mayas walk she bolted out into the hall and began dancing all around. She was pleased to walk with newcomer, and adorable puppy, Piper. Maya did a great job-welcoming Piper to the tails and trails world. Maya showed Piper how brave to be in the hall as well as all the fun to be had along the back trail. In the yard Maya was pleased to meet up with Piper once more for a brief dance. She the put her nose to the ground and spent the remainder of her outdoor time sniffing and exploring. Rocky was very content to skip out on a walk and enjoy an extra outing instead. Rocky loves exploring the yard with his older friends who also prefer to explore the yard rather than walk the back loop. He was excited to rest outdoors later on too during the big snow fall. He kept Julie and Samson company in the protected part of the yard, hanging out with me enjoying cuddles.

How cute is Piper?! My heart was so warmed when I saw her this morning. She had a good first day. It is normal for dogs to be a little reserved on their first day in a new environment. She was happy to have a regular daycare guest show her the ropes on her walk. Piper followed Maya along the trail with great confidence. She was so curious the entire walk, stopping to sniff every branch and bush. When I said anything, she would dart back to my side and look up at me. In the yard Piper was very happy to have me. She looked to me for protection when all the dogs wanted to say hello. She quickly realized no one meant any harm, they were just greeting her. She slowly came out of her shell and began to wander away from me with her tail wagging and ears perked up. There was so much for Piper to explore today it kept her very busy. Lots of her friends were interested in playing with her but she only wanted to play with certain mates. She loved Tatoo as well as her friend Maya. She was also keen on the company of two wiener dogs. By the time we had to head back indoors, Piper was covered in snow. It was very cute on her black coat. I brushed her off as she settled in to a bed in her kennel.

Casey is really enjoying her time with us. She has gotten to really appreciate and enjoy the company of two other olden golden retriever girls. Sophie, and Sophie are two guests who are joining us at the same time that keep Casey great company. Casey loves following them around as they frolic through the yard. She really likes watching them roll in the snow too. Between her visits with her friends she is sure to visit me for some attention. Casey loves pushing her head against my legs asking for pats and cuddles. She has learned that begging does in fact work here. I had both my hands pretty busy petting her and Sophie at the same time. Casey is always so happy and keen to sniff and explore. All the fresh snow gave Casey lots to investigate today, keeping her very busy through out the entire day.
Casey is such a gentle, sweet girl. I offered her a kong with some peanut butter and a milkbone inside, and she had a good sniff before deciding that she would rather have another go at the paw puzzle! I put some liver treats in the compartments and set it down for Casey. She spent some time sniffing, nosing and pawing at the puzzle to uncover all of the yummy treats hidden inside. We then spent some time hanging out together, and I gave Casey lots of pets and cuddles. She really liked the bed that I laid on the floor for her, and sat on it while I pet her for quite a while.

Sophie W is always such a pleasure to have stay with us. I couldn’t have been happier to see her happy face smiling up at me as I arrived this morning. It’s a funny coincidence that we have another older golden retriever named Sophie with us right now. Of course, the pair got to be in a group together. I always love watching breeds find one another. Sophie, Sophie, and another lovely golden named Casey were three peas in a pod today. These three ladies did all their sniffing, exploring, and goofing around together today. Sophie was also very occupied by all the fresh snow. She thought it was perfect snow for rolling around. She and her twin Sophie spent a lot of time rolling side by side in the snow. When she had enough of rolling she hopped up and came running at me full speed with a big smile on her face. I knew exactly what she wanted, and she wasn’t afraid to ask. Sophie barked at me and then began pawing at me asking to please be pet and cuddled. Of course I gave her what she wanted, which made her very happy. Sophie spent the rest of her outdoor time by my side with her other friends accepting bundles of love.

Macie and daycare friend, Cai, really hit it off today. The pair were drawn to one another before they even made it out the door into the hall. Macie was licking Cai’s ear and dancing all around him in the hall. Cai was happy to have this attention. He danced down the hall leading Macie into the yard for more fun. From here, Macie and Cai were attached at the hip. They were so fast running around the yard side by side. I love watching Cai’s fur flow in the wind as he races around. Macie did a good job keeping up her big strong friend. The duo went from running to boxing in a matter of seconds. They had so much fun dancing around. Cai decided to stop boxing when he saw me standing nearby with no dogs around me. He took this opportunity to be pet and cuddled. Macie wasn’t far behind him, pushing her head against my legs looking for some attention. The duo was happy to accept some love briefly before heading back to their games. As group time was coming to an end, Macie and Cai broke off to do some much needed sniffing and exploring. Cai was thrilled about all the fresh snow while Macie kept very busy following around young puppy Vega.

Issy and Mocha couldn’t have been happier to arrive and head straight into the kitchen. Mocha has grown very attached to our cloud bed. She claimed it before Issy could even sniff it. Mocha lays in the fetal position on the bed for the entire day unless convinced to go outside. Issy attempted snagging the bed from her at one point but didn’t have much luck as Mocha zipped past her and lay down before Issy could do enough circles to find it comfortable. In the yard the girls were excited to go out in the small dog yard. This yard has lots to sniff and explore, as they don’t always have the opportunity to go out here. Mocha kept very busy with her nose to the ground. She ventured to the furthest corner, which is rare for her. Issy wandered all around, and even got brief zoomies. Her excitement didn’t last long as she was distracted by Mocha rolling in the snow. Issy and Mocha were happy to spend the remainder of their outdoor time sniffing and exploring by the door, side by side.

Percy was excited to get his day under way upon arrival. We had a great walk with two friends, Tatoo and Ringo. Percy lead the way, of course, zooming left and right across the trail not afraid one bit to walk in the deep snow. Percy was thrilled to get out for group time. He was immediately happy to see his friend Charly who too is an avid ball lover. Their games started immediately and didn’t stop for the entire duration of group time. Percy loves some friendly competition. Charly isn’t too good at keeping the ball in her mouth, allowing Percy lots of opportunity to snag it from her. The duo ran all around the yard for the famous red ball. Percy led Charly through the tunnel and got her to follow him on endless alps around the yard with a smile on his face. He didn’t stop moving for the whole time outside.

Kimi loves when we are busy, as she gets to stay in the staff room. Kimi loves the cold concrete floor. We have beds and cots in the staff room to offer but she is much happier on the floor. When people pas by the staff room Kimi hops up on the door and peaks out the window to see who is passing by. She loves being in on all the action. Kimi was keen to head out for groups today and see that it was snowing. All the huskies love the snow more than anything. She got zoomies when she first got outside from her inner excitement. The zoomies didn’t last long as she quickly realized she had dogs chasing her which she wasn’t too sure about. Kimi fled to my side to get some protection from the younger hooligans. Kimi was happy to accept pets and cuddles before breaking off to do some sniffing and exploring. As she was investigating the yard she came across Percy and Charly who were very involved in a fetch game. Kimi hovered over the pair arguing about the ball, which confused her friends. She continued to stalk Percy and Charly until they invited her to play. This resulted in her fleeing from the scene and returning to my side for some more attention before heading back indoors.

Teddie and Kizmet were pleased to see their favourite Husky pals Justice and Kyah out in the yard today; they have been having a blast all week long together! But first things first, these two needed a good roll in the snow and all of the freshly fallen snow from today made it that much better! Well Kizmet took a couple rolls in the snow today, its his favourite thing to do and probably by far my favourite thing to watch! These two really know how to crack me up, always in a good mood and certain to put a big smile on your face whenever these two silly boys are around. Kyah couldn’t agree more; she couldn’t contain her excitement as she impatiently waited for Teddie to finish his roll so they could have a play, a single paw to the face and Teddie was up and eager! Shepherd Riley felt the same way; he slid down on his belly to get on the same level as Kiz, anxiously waiting for him to jump up and wrestle. Wrestle they did, all morning long accompanied by all of their favourite friends!

Its true lab nature to want to roll around in the snow, much like Kiz, Miss Laika had her fair share of rolls but her signature move is to slide head first in the snow with her wiggly bum straight in the air! At one point I looked over and the three of them were all separately getting their rolls in with everyone else watching from above in curiosity. A true lab she is, Laika is the sweetest girl around and was full of beans this morning, much more playful than her usual self. Fresh snow always seems to make our four-legged friends that much more friskier and frisky she was today. Running laps and joining in on the fun with Teddie and Kiz, this one had endless amounts of energy this morning along with lasting smiles and kisses to give!

Tsavo is no stranger to having fun in the yard and today she was paired with the perfect group to let her silly side come out and silly she was! Although shy at times, there is a playful girl deep down inside and being surrounded by such fun-loving pups encouraged her to play! With some encouragement I called Tsavo over to join me in the main yard, she happily frolicked towards me with her big floppy tongue hanging out the side ready to be embraced with hugs and kisses. Now she was ready to play and happy to meet gentle giant Charlie who was giving her all of the right attention! Tsavo loved playing with Charlie and darted in and out of the yard with Charlie happily chasing from behind. Charlie can also be shy at times so it was wonderful to see them bond today and let their guard down to have a good play session together!

I had to watch my legs in the next group, a full pack of excited running dogs were on the loose and ready to play as they ran full speed into the yard, the true definition of a speed-demon! Molly and Chloe were the first ones out the door and Chloe snatched up her favourite orange ring on the way out. Little did Chloe know that she was paired with perhaps just as toy-obsessed Molly and she had her eye on that orange ring! A good chunk of their morning was spent playing tug of war, both of these ladies wouldn’t give up and they even made a few laps around the yard together tugging back and forth. It looked like an even match to me, but Chloe came out on top and snagged it away in excitement. As you can imagine the rest of Chloe’s morning was spent prancing around in pride but perhaps holding on to that ring just a little bit harder! No hard feelings Molly thought, now seemed like a good time to have a good old snow roll!
Molly absolutely loved her extra attention time this afternoon, I mean what could be better than one on one time with a human plus toys, LOTS AND LOTS OF TOYS! Molly quickly busied herself by grabbing a toy and tossing it around for herself. She'd throw the toy, look at it and then pounce on it. She is such a silly girl. Once she got bored of one toy she would move on to the next, I think she tried out every toy in our toy bin up front. She would even take some of the toys and put them back in the basket before grabbing a new one, clever girl! I thought I'd try something new with Molly and let her have a try at our puzzle game treat dispenser. It certainly didn't take Molly long to figure out how to get the treats out, once she made sure every little crumb was cleaned up she went and brought me another toy to play fetch with.

While Molly and Chloe were having their own fun playing tug of war in the distance, daycare pals Jemma, Spencer and Teddy were on the move chasing after Koda and Windy who were leading the pack in a frantic chase around the yard! As you can imagine, Teddy went straight into herding mode and tried to run circles around the gang but boy they were fast and he could hardly keep up for once! He settled for a good wrestle with Windy in the snow and this got the attention of sweet Jemma who wanted to join in. Jemma could have played with this gang all morning long with her own endless amounts of energy and was just about ready to have a nap by the time I herded them back inside. But before she could come in, a good wrestle with Spencer was in order! She loved chasing after this longhaired gentleman and trust me he enjoyed the attention just as much! Spencer was all over the place, so many things to do in such a short amount of time he thought, but little did he know he had the whole day ahead of him to run and play. He likes to make the most of every moment outside, especially when he is with his best friend Teddy and little sister like friend Jemma! I definitely caught these three snoozing a little while later inside!

Max and Sadie were up to their usual antics this morning; running laps, chasing balls and wrestling in the snow! Max was especially fired up today because of all the freshly fallen snow and we all know how much Sadie loves the white stuff, or the Polar Bear as we sometimes refer to her as! But she didn’t have much of a chance to explore and dig her head in the snow today because Max was eager to play, and he is always eager but especially today! Off they went chasing one another in the distance, it was now time for me to sit back and watch the Max and Sadie show! Snow was kicking up everywhere as these two gentle giants rolled in a fury across the yard, but all in good fun. Max has been very gentle with his sister lately, its Max we have to worry about; Sadie loves a good wrestle with her bigger brother ;)
