Issy and Mocha were feeling a little frisky today after some convincing from their group mates. She and Mocha had assumed their position by the door after doing some exploring, and were quickly interrupted by young Hudson. Hudson practically ran right into these girls, begging them to play with him. At first they both turned their noses up to him, wanting absolutely nothing to do with his shenanigans. Hudsons persistency worked, and he actually got Issy dancing around. Issy’s zoomies got Mocha going too, and the girls had some fun dancing around with Hudson. All the commotion in the corner of the yard got Nyxx’s attention, sending him flying over. Nyxx was quick to begin flirting with Issy, which she wasn’t apposed to. After some licking and body bumping the pair began to box around. This didn’t last long before Issy firmly told Nyxx she wanted nothing to do with his young games. Meanwhile, Mocha was circling Issy and Nyxx closely watching the action. The pair were happy to be left alone after the games finished up. They enjoyed sniffing out all the melting areas of the yard and relaxing on this mild winter day.

Hudson is always an absolute hoot and is known for being the life of the party. Hudson never lets anything get him down, and always finds someone or something to play with. Today Hudson was thrilled to dash out in the yard and see a fun filled group waiting for him. Right off the bat Hudson was drawn towards Oakley, a young doodle, and Jemma, a lovely mix. These two young ladies were all over one another, wrestling, running and romping around. Hudson wasn’t shy to jump right on top of them and get himself involved in the action. The girls were happy to have his company, but also wanted to continue playing just the two of them. Hudson didn’t take this to heart at all, as he had another lovely doodle in the yard waiting to play. Barley and Hudson are a match made in heaven. These two love getting up to all the nonsense in the world. Between the running at full speed, the intense boxing, or the  wrestling in the snow, these two never stopped moving. They were happy to have some other group mates including Kimi and Nyxx join in on their shenanigans but mostly stuck to one another. After endless amounts of games, Hudson spotted Jemma pawing around at a thawing puddle. Jemma was drinking the water, but Hudson wanted to much more than drink. I remember how much he loved the pool in the summer, and he was just about as excited about this ice hole as he was the pool. Hudson dunked his whole face in the ice cold water and began blowing bubbles. He then began to dig and paw around in the water. Hudson was so entertained by the water I was shocked that he didn’t mind the cold at all. By the time we had to head indoors, Hudson was more than ready for a snooze in his kennel.

It is nice to see Kimi after so many weeks without her. Kimi was happy to join all of the staff dogs in the staff room first thing this morning. Kimi quickly assumed a comfortable position on the cool floor, while there were comfy beds all around her. Come walk time, she was pleased to be accompanied by a young male husky, Nyxx. These two also met up in the yard later on, to continue their interest in one another. The duo was full of flirty behaviour towards one another. Nyxx wasn’t going to let up on Kimi that easily, which she didn’t seem to mind. The pair actually had some great fun boxing around and wrestling too. All these shenanigans got Kimi very excited and she got playing with some of her other group mates. Kimi was right in on some wrestling and romping around with Barley and Hudson. She was trying to referee the games but mostly just wanted to be involved in the action. She was thrilled when the boys happily included her. She did lots of bouncing around and running, before taking a break to cuddle me and supervise her other group mates.
Jemma was so excited to be here today. I think she is burning off all the energy from the holidays, still. Jemma was happy to enjoy a walk right off the bat upon arrival. She was even happier to take part in two, very energetic, groups. I must admit, I do spoil Jemma a bit by putting her out with multiple groups because I know she loves to run and play with just about any dog. Jemma and Oakley became best friends right off the bat on their walk. I knew they had to be in a group together to continue their shenanigans. Their games started in the hall, before they even got out the door, and continued throughout their whole group time. These two were glued at the hip. Wrestling, boxing, running, and gnawing on one another non-stop. My favourite thing to watch was them roll around side by side moaning and groaning. Jemma also had a great time with another group which had her buddy Vega in it. Vega and Jemma always meet up and have a great time. Jemma couldn’t have ha da better day with us. She was absolutely zonked when I walked by her kennel this afternoon, she barely opened her eyes to look at me!

Tsavo has been such a great girl. She is doing absolutely wonderful in groups without her brother. However, she does love her morning walks with Cai. The pair also love being in kennels next to one another. Often, they stand up and chat to each other through the wall. Tsavo was keen to get out in the yard and check out the dogs she was partnered up with today. She did her rounds, saying hello to everyone, very quickly so that she could investigate the yard. Tsavo motored around the yard with her tail high in the air and her nose glued to the ground. She was very happy when she found a ball, and brought it to my feet. We played a couple rounds of fetch, accompanied by group mate Percy who enjoys to compete with her. The pair are very fast and agile when competing for toys. They had lots of fun running around today before splitting off to check out other friends. Percy was so excited to get in on some husky action. The huskies are always so fast on their feet, running through and over tunnels as well as wrestling which he loves to referee. Tsavo on the other hand was much more fascinated by young Jemma. These to danced around which drew the attention of Vega, Tsavo’s puppy friend. Soon enough, Tsavo broke off with Vega and Jemma head in the opposite direction to join Percy and his husky friends playing around. Percy was thrilled to have so many fun dogs dancing around with him that he completely forgot about the ball, which is rare! At the end of group time when it was time to head indoors, he did indeed snatch the ball up and bring it into his kgennel with him to keep safe until his next outing.

Max and Sadie were very happy to head out the door into the yard today. After some well behaved sitting and waiting, of course. This duo has changed so much working with me consistently since September. In the summer, it was screaming and shouting the moment I walked through the door. Now, they instantly go into a sit without making a peep and wait for the OK to head out the door to run and play. I am so proud of their hard work and good behaviour. Today Max and Sadie got up to their usual shenanigans. Without any convincing on either parts the pair were keen to get wrestling and running right off the bat. Sadie and Max alternated pouncing on each other, dragging one another down to the ground and proceeding with wrestling about. Alternating between wrestling and running, the duo ended up very tired out towards the end of their outdoor time. Today I stood in as pot in the yard that I don’t usually stand in and Sadie was very confused. She kept running to the opposite corner, thinking her outdoor time was almost up, ready to play her game. I continued to stand there for another ten minutes, and she kept approaching me, then bolting off as soon as I offered to pet her. I got a good laugh from this. Max on the other hand was happy to have me all to himself so that he could accept endless pets and cuddles while his silly sister was going a little crazy.

It would seem as though Monkey has finally come out of his shell and is completely confident and comfortable with his surroundings. He met up with fiery Husky pal Vega first thing this morning and the two of them just couldn’t resist a good morning wrestle to get the day started. He adores the free spirit in this little one, something that they both have in common. The fun continued a short while later when he met up with his friends outside and even met a new face today, that of Cai’s. There was something about Cai that immediately sparked his interest and these two sweet boys shared some nose nuzzles. When he wasn’t bonding with Cai, he was trying to get me to play with him as he gave me some play-bows and made his usual sprints across the yard to get everyone’s attention. Cai loved his time bonding with Monkey but Husky pal Jynxx stole his attention away for the most part. Jake and Cai took turns chasing after Jynxx who was eagerly enticing them to play. But Jynxx is fast and Cai found it hard to keep up with her, especially when she took cover in the agility tunnel. He didn’t mind nonetheless, the thrill of the chase was enough for him and he could have played all morning long with his two new friends! Monkey and Leah spent some one-on-one time together in the reception area after group time today. He sat with Leah, happily accepting pets and back scratches. He then did some tricks for some yummy treats before heading back to his comfy bed and blanket.

Rufus and Sherman had a great start to their morning as they were whisked away on their trail walk shortly after arrival. They were ready to go and happy to meet Charly who accompanied them on their walk; although Charly has much longer legs, I was surprised to see them keep up and in fact Sherman led the pack! They enjoyed their time sniffing out the trail and burning off some energy on this beautiful mild morning. Next up was a group outing where they met some new friendly faces as they joined the small dog group for a morning of fun. They clearly remember this place and these two playful pups were ready and eager to play! They trotted behind me as I led them into the far yard and the rest of the little ones followed closely behind. Rufus kept himself busy by running around and exploring the yard but Sherman seemed to stay close to my side and looked up at me with those big beautiful eyes as if he wanted affection. A few head rubs later and he was ready to join his brother and the rest of the gang. They were happy to have playful Jake encourage them to chase him and even had little Sam running around with them. A great start to their visit and it’s only just the beginning of fun for these two lovable guys! Rufus and Sherman are such busy boys. We headed up to the reception area for their extra attention and they couldn’t seem to explore enough. From one end of the room to the other they trotted about sniffing all the exciting smells. I had to tell Sherman to stay of the chairs a few times, but he soon settled down on the floor with a nylabone. Rufus wasn’t as interested in the toys I spread about so I filled a yummy bone with some peanut butter. This certainly got his attention, and also Sherman’s. Both brothers shared the peanut butter bone squeezing their noses together to get all the yummy goodness out.

Maya enjoyed her walk with little Sherman this morning and she was very patient as this little one tried to keep up pace with her. If she got too far ahead, she would loop around and give him some encouragement, it was very sweet! A little bit later she met up with Sherman again outside, but this time she was accompanied by brother Rocky. Maya always takes a moment to warm up as she stands still and assesses the situation, but you just know at any given moment she will have a burst of energy and start zooming around the yard. Well it didn’t take long this morning for her to have the zoomies when her best pal Jake encouraged her to chase him into the far yard and off she went like a speed demon. Sweet Rocky thinks his sister is silly and would much prefer to watch the show from afar. He had a special walk with Julie out front this morning and decided to keep her company when he met back up with her later. It wasn’t until Julie herself had a case of the zoomies and Rocky’s ears flew back in amusement as he watched, crazy girls he thought!

Kai is one of the sweetest girls around and has such a loving spirit about her that no one can resist. She always carries that beautiful smile of hers across her face and is thankful for any interaction she gets, human or canine. She made her way out into the yard for her first outing and daycare Teddy stole her attention right away. She could sense how playful he was and this prompted her to fly through the air to try and jump on him. But Teddy is fast as we all know and this put him straight into herding mode as he started running circles around her. This made it quite difficult for Kai to catch him but she didn’t give up nonetheless! Teddy loved the attention he was getting from sweet Kai but he had a lot of friends to play with including Lexi and Korvo who were all trying to keep up with him. You could see Kai and the gang’s head circle around back and forth as they tried to keep their eyes on Teddy. Teddy definitely ran out his energy this morning, he didn’t stop moving the whole time and it was just the beginning of the fun he was about to have. It was a great group of friends and fun for Teddy and Kai who ended up being the perfect match! Kai’s favorite part of the day is her extra attention. After her afternoon group, I went a got her from her kennel. She burst out of the kennel and raced down the hall. When I opened the door to the reception area she bounced around like a ping pong to check everything out. She settled down in front of me for some cuddles and ear scratches. She noticed Leah was behind the desk and hopped over to her. Leah gave her more cuddles and praise. I went over to the treat jar and Kai instantly ran over and plopped her bum down into a sit. She showed off giving me a paw and taking treats gently.
