Allie is full of beans today! She meowed as soon as I stepped into the cat room and zipped over to the cat tree where she gave the post a good scratch. Allie then continued on up the side of the tree, scaling her way to the top shelf, which seems to be her favourite perch these days. I reached up and gave her some chin scratches, which she leaned into and closed her eyes. This only lasted a minute though, before Allie was pawing and swatting at the fluffy toy on the shelf. I waved the toy around for her, and Allie pounced on it without hesitation. She swatted and dove at the toy over and over, grabbing onto it and biting it every chance she got. Next, I tossed a little pompom toy for Allie, and she chased it down off the shelf of the tree onto the floor. She hopped back up after a moment, though, going back to the first toy instead.

Max and Sadie had a blast in the yard today, as usual. The pair started their outing by doing a very thorough sniff around the yard, taking in all of the new smells. Sadie checked out her favourite corner of the fence, while Max spent a few minutes at the tunnel. I showed Sadie a bone shaped toy and she was immediately ready to play! I tossed the toy for her and she sprinted after it as fast as her legs could carry her. Max was very excited by Sadie's sudden burst of energy, and took off running after her. When Max caught up to Sadie, he pounced on her and the wrestling began. The pair zoomed back and forth across the yard at lightning speed. It was hard to even get a picture, they were so quick! They wrestled away until Sadie needed a bit of a breather, and she laid down in the snow along the fence, munching on some ice. As she was cooling off, Sadie spotted Susan and her dogs walking along the trail at the back of the field. Max ran over to join us as we watched them walk along. Sadie wanted very badly to say hello, but they were much too far away. She listened like a very good girl when I asked her to leave them be and continue playing with Max. Max and Sadie resumed their wrestling match until it was time to head indoors.

The Doxie brothers Rufus and Sherman started their morning off with breakfast, followed by a trail walk with their friend Resa. These boys sure like to keep their noses down and motor along the path, making sure to take in all of the good scents. After their walk, the boys joined Tayler for their extra attention time in the playroom. After having some fun, it was time to head outside for their group time in the yard. Sherman and Rufus wasted no time taking off running after one another as soon as their paws touched the snow. They zipped and zoomed across the yard with Resa following close behind. These little guys sure can move quickly! The chase only ended when the boys heard a car come down the driveway, and had to let everyone know that someone had arrived! When the excitement was over, Sherman spent some time having a good thorough sniff around the base of the wooden fence, saying hello to any dog that he ran into. Rufus, on the other hand, was very busy going from dog to dog to greet them. He took a particular interest in Samson, and then Kouza, and finally back to Resa. Eventually Sherman joined Rufus and the boys came over to see me for a little pet and a treat that I had saved in my pocket. Sherman and Rufus were so excited to head up front for their extra attention time. They went running around checking everything going on in the room. We found a squeaky pig and spent some time playing with that. Rufus then headed off to check out the toy basket. Eventually he found himself a ball and came trotting back over quite proud of himself. Rufus started chewing on it, but I stole it away and gave it a toss. He went charging after it as fast as his little legs could take him. Sherman watches his brothers antics but decided to not join in. He was more interested in continuing to check out the room. Eventually Sherman made his way over and stole Rufus's ball. I then stole it from him and gave it a toss. Rufus was happy to go chasing after it, but Sherman watched it go. He then turned to me with a look that clearly said he wanted to cuddle and I need to adjust how I was sitting. I did as he demanded and soon Sherman was cuddled up in my lap enjoying lots of love. Rufus was happy to bring his ball over and settle down close by while chewing the ball.

Boris and Tasha never have a dull moment when they're here for daycare. After joining Kodiak out on the trail, it was time for group fun. Boris was immediately drawn to Lupe, the lovely Kosovo husky. She and Finnigan were already wrestling when Boris entered the yard, and he wasted no time joining them. He pounced on Lupe, who was trying to convince Finnigan to let her have a turn with the blue ball. Finnigan seemed happy that Boris was on Lupe's tail, since it meant he could sneak away with his prize! Lupe didn't give up, though, and followed Finnigan across the yard while Boris kept following behind. Eventually, Boris managed to capture Lupe's full attention, at which time Finnigan snuck off to play with the ball on his own. Lupe and Boris wrestled for a while, until Tasha came bouncing in to see what they were up to. Tasha ran up to Boris and threw herself at him to join in the wrestling match. This caught Ariel and Kodiak's attention too, and they ran over to play with Tasha and Boris. Meanwhile, Finnigan was on the other side of the yard with his ball, but always keeping a close eye on what the others were doing. When Tasha, Ariel and Kodiak branched off into their own wrestling match, Finnigan couldn't help but jump back in with Lupe and Boris. Finnigan got everyone running when he went flying through the tunnel. Lupe and Boris each ran on either side of the tunnel to try and catch him when he emerged, but he was too quick and went zooming across the yard again. Pretty soon, all of the dogs in this silly group were chasing after Finnigan! That guy always has a great day, and it's been so much fun having him in all week!

Teddie and Kizmet had another great day in our care, but these two always know how to have a good time and I think our other four-legged guests would agree! Teddie and Kiz have such a fun-loving energy that no one can seem to resist; they are always quite the hit when out in the yard. This morning was no different, they had everyone playing and running up a storm behind them and they especially enjoyed their time with resident huskies Vega and Korvo. But first, a good roll in the snow was in order, these two can never resist a good back scratch amidst the snowy yard. After his morning roll and stretches, Kiz was ready to stir up some trouble and prepared himself for a good wrestle with Korvo. These two were inseparable the rest of the morning and their energy enticed everyone else to join in. Teddie ran over to see what Kiz was up to, and the two of them then chased Vega over to the agility tunnel. Teddie was very amused when she jumped up on the agility tunnel and thought he would give it a try himself, but soon realized he might not be as agile as this little one!

Now it was time for Chloe and friends to have their turn running out some energy on this beautiful mild morning. It's no surprise now that Chloe just about spent her whole morning running around with her favourite blue squeaky toy in her mouth. But this morning was much more relaxing for her, she didn't have any competition in the yard today and therefore she happily pranced around the yard and up and over the agility tunnel. The only time she would let that ball out of her mouth, is when she would drop it a few inches from her paws, look at it, then snatch it back up, it was her own little game! Meanwhile, Kai and Laika were making some moves of their own, lots of laps around the yard were made today between these two happy-go-lucky gals. I am surprised they still had so much energy left after their morning trail walk; these two girls were on a mission this morning and sure knew how to keep up the pace! They were the perfect models as they happily ran by me during group, lots of smiles and ears flying in the wind that's for sure. Macie was the last lady to even out this fun and relaxed group. Much like the others, Macie was happy to be in good company and she was very interested in meeting little black lab Maggie. Maggie was quite shy when she first went out, but sweet Macie made her feel right at home and even gave her a nudge to the side to entice her to play. In fact Macie has been feeling playful all week and has really been enjoying her visit; her happiness is written all over that face of hers, always smiles from ear to ear.
