Allie was being a very silly kitty cat this morning! I woke her up from a snooze in the hammock, and she yawned and stretched while I pet her chin. She rolled over, looking at me upside down as I encouraged her to hop down and explore. Allie did move from the hammock to her favourite perch at the top of the cat tree, until I got out some toys! She was immediately focused on her target: a light blue pompom. Allie stood on the cubby box of the cat tree, with her face hidden behind the scratching post. She would slowly peek around the post to get a good view of the pompom, before quickly pulling back and staying hidden from her new foe. She burst suddenly around the post and swatted the pompom, picked it up and hopped back to the top perch. Allie flung it around until it fell down to the floor. I grabbed another toy, this time a small green mouse, and Allie began her stalking once again. She sat quietly and patiently behind the post, waiting to pounce. After Allie was satisfied that she'd caught the mouse and the pompom, we spent some time snuggling and hanging out together.

Rufus and Sherman are always excited to see the staff arrive in the morning. They were thrilled to see someone walk down the hall later in the morning and bounced all over their kennels, eager to see me. After some pets and cuddles the boys settled down and made their way outdoors for group time. There are lots of smells around the yard right now as we haven’t received snow and it has been mild. This kept the hounds busy for much of group time. They always stick together on their adventures through out the yard, letting their noses lead the way and their instincts keep them side by side. Rufus was thrilled when he came across a big nylabone lying in the yard. He was first to pounce, with Sherman right behind him. The pair argued over the bone for a bit, each trying to grab the opposing end. Rufus was the winner, as he ran across the yard dragging it beside him a whole crew of dogs followed. He wasn’t going to give it up. He stood by my side gnawing on it while Sherman sat between my legs being pet and cuddled. Their group mates gave up on trying to snatch the treasure from Rufus after a short while, leaving the boys in peace. Sherman and Rufus spent some time in the reception area for their training today. The main focus for Rufus today was “leave it” since he loves his snacks so much! I put some treats on the floor and walked Rufus around them, asking him to leave it each time he tried to dart over and gobble them up. It took a few circles around before Rufus was focused on me instead of the treats. Finally, after much anticipation, I gave Rufus the OK to eat his snack. Next up was Sherman, who was keen to work on his “stay”. I had him sit at one end of the room and wait to be called over. We moved all around the room, practicing on the floor, the rug, and a dog bed. He was a superstar!
Coco was so excited to get outdoors and begin sniffing around. Timbits was hot on her heels as she bolted around the fence and into the bigger portion of the yard. The two trotted around with their noses to the ground until they came across a toy. This bone was hard to resist and the pair began bouncing all over me asking to give it up. Once they politely sat for me, I handed it to Coco who took off with it. Of course, Timbits chased her, wanting a turn with it. She was very polite and gave it up for her brother, only to come bolting back to me looking for another toy. I searched the yard for another toy and she was thrilled when I came up with a rope toy. This toy was even more entertaining than the first one as we could play tug with it. Coco and I had loads of fun playing tug which of course soon involved Timmy too. The pair kept each other busy with toys and scents for the remainder of group time. They were also sure to meet up with me as I was sitting in the snow for some pets and cuddles.
Kouza was SO frisky today!! Who knows what got this girl so excited, but it seems like she had a large coffee this morning. Kouza was thrilled for each portion of her day. As she was heading outdoors for her morning walk, she came across her favourite piggy toy. This put a brief halt on her excursion outdoors, as we couldn’t resist watching her toss the toy around. Kouza was having so much fun with this piggy, even though she killed the squeaker yesterday. Kouza was tossing it around and bringing it back to us for us t o toss for her. This reminded me of Kouza in her younger years. Kouza really enjoyed searching through the toy bin for more goodies and pulling out all the toys she thought were good. In the yard today, Kouza followed her nose. She spent her whole time outdoors sniffing and exploring. When she came across me sitting on the ground her ears perked up and her whole bum began to wiggle. Kouza absolutely smothered me with kisses and affection. She was pouncing all over me and soaking my face with love. I have never seen Kouza so frisky as she was today!
Kouza was full of great energy today, so much so that when we took her out front for her morning walk, she decided to delay the walk so she could play with her favourite piggy toy! She demanded that we let her go and she went straight for the toy bucket where she stuck her head right in and searched out her favourite toys. She was having so much fun, I kept her up front with us for the rest of the morning for her extra attention time and she pranced around with that pig in her mouth and shook it back and forth in excitement! We all know how much Kouza loves her toys and it was nice to see her have the energy to play with them all today!

Macie was quiet the active girl today. She was so keen to meet a new dog named Kyah. Kyah is here everyday for daycare, but hasn’t crossed paths with Macie yet. Macie was in love with her right off the bat and made sure to be her best friend for their entire time outdoors. Macie was hot on Kyahs heels as she played around with all the other dogs. This got Macie very involved in the games which was fun to watch. Macie’s favourite thing to do was chase after Kyah as she bolted over the tunnel and looped through it. Macie has a hard time grasping the concept of the tunnel which makes her work extra hard to stay involved in the action. Macie had so much fun getting in on all the boxing, wrestling, and running between Kyah, Teddie, and Kizmet. She didn’t leave her pals side at all and was sure to keep a close eye on her for the rest of the day too.

Teddie and Kizmet couldn’t not have been happier to re-unite with their friend, Kyah. This duo had so much fun with their friend from Thursday. It was love at first sight as they got in the yard. Kyah bolted straight for Teddie and then pounced all over him when she got to his side. Kizmet then leapt on Kyah and pulled her down to the ground for some wrestling and boxing. Kyah was happy to play with Kiz, but seemed more interested in Teddie today. Kyah and Teddie had so much fun racing around and leaping over the tunnel after one another. Kiz got Kyahs attention by rolling in the snow, causing her to leave Teddie. Kiz seemed proud of himself for getting the attention. The boys were then happy to share their time with Kyah, pawing at each other, wrestling, and boxing as a fun trio. Teddie and Kiz each had some time on their own to roll in the snow which always draws attention. They also enjoyed some extra cuddles from Nicki who joined us in the yard. After lots of one on one cuddles the boys met up with a larger group of dogs, which included Kyah, for some more fun and games. Kiz was playbowing to everyone looking for a buddy while Teddie raced from dog to dog, flirting, looking for some games. Teddie and Kiz were so excited to go out for their second afternoon outing and meet up with Kyah for more of the same fun and games.

As usual, Tanner was full of energy today. He was so bouncy and springy throughout his whole group time. Tanner loved Sophie, and older golden retriever who shares much of the same young energy as Tanner. She and Tanner kept very busy racing around the yard after one another. Tanner was thrilled when he got her going around the tunnel. Tanner’s favourite thing to do is bounce around the tunnel with friends chasing after him. He kept at this for a while until Sophie got distracted by toy. He was then happy to have my hands all to himself for lots of pets and cuddles. Tanner was happy to join in on some running and racing with his other group mates Kyah, Teddie and Tanner. This came to a quick end when he spotted Nicki making her way into the yard. Tanner can never refuse attention from humans, over dogs. I got a good laugh as Tanner practically took Nicki off her feet by sliding between her legs. He got lots of attention from Nicki and then some more from myself before heading off with his friends for one more race around the yard.

Casey is such a sweet girl. I really enjoyed spending some one on one time with her this morning for her extra attention. Casey loves hanging out in the reception area with the staff members, as she gets lots of love and attention. Today, I spent a good chunk of time brushing miss Casey out. Althoug she wasn’t a huge fan of it during the process, she was a big fan after as she lost so much fur and must have felt nice. She rolled around once the brushing was done, almost in spite of my actions. I was sure to give her lots of treats and cuddles after to remind her what a good girl she is. Casey had a nice time in the yard today. She is very independent while outdoors as all the scents draw her away from the group action and more around the edges of the yard. Casey kept very busy sniffing and exploring today. She enjoyed getting some attention from another golden retriever named Sophie, but was mostly happy to hang out on her own. Casey was thrilled when Nicki came in the yard and offered her lots of cuddles and kisses. Casey then came to my side asking for more from me. She was very content with her outdoor time and was ready to head back indoors when the time came. When Casey gets inside she goes right to her kennel and eagerly waits for us to open it for her. She is quick to curl up on her matt and rest.

Chloe was part of the biggest and most energetic group of the day and she adored every single minute of it! Even though she had her mind set on the ball, there were so many playful friends visiting today and she couldn’t help herself from running around with this crazy pack, ball in mouth of course! Daycare pal Finnigan also had his eyes set on the ball and gave Chloe a good run around the yard but Chloe held on strong and even encouraged the chase from this silly guy! Lucky for Finn, he was easily distracted from the ball as there were so many pups flying around the yard to keep him occupied! He decided to join in the wrestling match between little Stella and Tag who were kicking up snow behind as they sped across the yard; soon this duo became a trio as Finn jumped right in with no hesitation! Tag loves spending her days with the bigger dog groups; she has so much energy and loves meeting new friends who can keep up with her! Well she had every single dog in that yard playing today; even Kai and Laika couldn’t resist her fun loving energy. But her favourite pal of the day had to be Stella the GSHP who is small like Tag but packs just as much punch! These two were literally inseparable from the moment they set paw in the yard and everyone else was trying to keep up with them. Tag is definitely going to have a quite night with all of that puppy energy she burned today. Kai adored having the playful bunch in her group today, she really picks up on the energy surrounding her, so to no surprise she was full of beans today! She especially loved wrestling around with Windy, the sweet wiggly Golden girl, but then made her way over to Nyxx and enticed him to play. Everytime I looked over, Kai was playing with someone new and having the time of her life! Much like Kai, Laika was also feeling frisky, must have been all of that puppy energy floating around today! Laika wanted to be in the centre of all the action and she did just that with her great big smile and all. When I knelt down in the snow to get some action shots of the pack, she noticed me and ran right over and almost took me down with excitement! She spent some time with me getting some extra cuddles but it wasn’t long before she was off following the group again!

Max and Sadie were excited to be back in our company after a weekend away and eager to get their day started with a trail walk on this mild morning. Shortly after walks and a quick rest in their kind-sized fluffy beds, it was time to head outdoors again but this time for a play! But first, it was time to make their usual rounds of the yard, every Monday morning they need to sniff that place out from top to bottom as if it was their first time, to many smells to be ignored! I broke Sadie’s attention with the rubber bone and as I threw it in the air, she leaped into the air after it. This of course got the attention of Max, he didn’t want the bone but rather wanted to chase Sadie around the yard! Off they went leaping and bounding through the yard and in and out of the agility tunnel after one another!

Kouza was full of great energy today, so much so that when we took her out front for her morning walk, she decided to delay the walk so she could play with her favourite piggy toy! She demanded that we let her go and she went straight for the toy bucket where she stuck her head right in and searched out her favourite toys.
