Friday January 27th, 2017

Allie was such a little chatterbox today! When I went to greet her this afternoon she was singing away. She hopped down from her cubby onto the chair, where she happily rubbed her face on the leg of the chair. Allie was all about the scratching post on the tree today. I offered her a few of her regular toys, but she was very keen to play jungle cat and dig her claws into the post. She went between the shelf, the cat tree, and the smaller scratching board underneath the windowsill to let all of her wiggles out. Allie came to see me for a few pets and scratches here and there, but after a moment or so she was right back up on her perch. She climbed from the bottom section of the cat tree all the way to the very top just by climbing the centre post! What a little monkey!

Teddie and Kizmet had another fun filled day full of snow rolls, wrestles and smiles to say the least! It was a great start to their morning as they headed out the door bright and early for a trail walk along with good pal and kennel neighbor Macie. These three were eager to sniff out every inch of that trail and happily pulled me behind them with much enthusiasm along the path! A quick rest and then it was time to head back outside, but this time to horse around with their favourite pals. Kyah and Kizmet immediately picked up from last time and wasted no time getting down in the snow for a good wrestle. While Kiz was having a roll of his own, Kyah impatiently ran over and put a paw on his head to entice him to play, no time for rolls today she thought! Well Kiz wasn’t going to miss out on an opportunity to wrestle with his favourite Husky lady and the two of them wrestled and rolled around in the snow all morning long! Teddie was off on his own in the far distance having a good old snow roll of his own. This will never get old for me; I love watching this fluffy gentle giant wiggle his body back and forth in excitement. He is also the perfect boy to photograph as he gallops around the yard with that big floppy tongue of his hanging out the side!

Boris and Tasha were eager and ready to go when they arrived this morning, ready to spend another Friday with their favourite friends for daycare! But first things first a morning trail walk was in order to see if we can burn off some of that excess energy! Boris was fired up today and ready to hit the yard for a morning full of play! And play he did, all morning long with the endless amounts of energy he seems to have. Although happy to see Husky friends Justice and Kyah, he was even more excited to see Riley the Shepherd out there today. These two immediately hit it off and spent their time dancing together on their hind legs in excitement. While Boris was off doing the tango with Riley, Tasha was making a new friend of her own; she adored the company of big Charlie and he sent her into a fury of playfulness.

Rufus and Sherman were excited to feel how mild it was this morning and this made for an extremely playful morning for the two of them and the rest of the small dog gang today. It was a smaller group today, but that didn’t stop Rufus and Sherman from trying to lead the pack into the far yard for a play. But no one wanted to join in, so they thought they would have a wrestle amongst themselves! Then Rufus spotted the big bone in the middle of the yard and darted straight for it before Sherman could catch up but it was much too heavy for him to carry around in his little mouth! While Rufus and Sherman were having a good time running laps around the yard on their own, sweet Maggie was doing some own exploring of her own. She then came across Tatoo who was notoriously having a snow roll on his back. That looked like fun she thought and decided to see if she could give it a try, she laid down on her side but couldn’t quite make it around all the way! Nonetheless she loved the attention from Tatoo! When I knelt down in the snow to get on the same level as the little ones, Rufus, Sherman and Maggie all ran towards me for some love, I was almost taken down by a pack of small ones! There was enough love to go around and we spent the rest of the morning cuddling!

Casey and Sophie, our older yet just as playful Golden girls were thrilled when it was their turn for a play session outside! Although not much playing was to be had by these two, there was lots of exploring to be done, kisses to give and rolls to be had! Sophie started off with a few good laps around the yard with a great big smile on her face; when isn’t this girl smiling? Then it was time for a rest, and when I say rest I mean a good old-fashioned snow roll! Every chance this girl gets to roll around in the fresh snow she takes it! I had to make sure I got my daily dose of cuddles from both Sophie and Casey. Sophie made the time to stop by for some love but then she was on the move again. Casey on the other hand, could have spent her whole morning by my legs for head rubs and she did just that! She happily plunked down beside me in the snow and watched Korvo and Vega run circles around us! Everyone knows I can’t resist some Golden love! Macie was just as happy as the Goldens to be outside and in good company. But she didn’t have much time to cuddle with me today; she was too busy playing with her newly founded Husky pack Korvo and Vega. I am still surprised how much energy she has after a week of playing with these two and she enjoys every minute of it. Maybe the in-between afternoon naps provide her with the energy she needs because this afternoon I caught her tightly wound up on her bed just snoozing away!
Casey is such a sweetie and is always so happy to see people. She went trotting up to the playroom. When we got in she looked around before promptly heading over to me for pets. I showed Casey the toys but she politely declined. I left her for a second to go grab a good puzzle. As soon as Casey spotted the puzzle she got so excited. She then happily set to work on figuring out how to get all the treats out. It took Casey a little while, but soon she had almost all the treats out. For the last couple I had to help her spin the dial. Once all the treats were gone Casey settled down next to me for some cuddles and pets.

Finnigan had another great day, as usual. He was pleased to partake in a group that had some big dogs and some small dogs in it. It wasn’t long before Finn met up with Elo, a lovely younger guy who is always ahppy go lucky. Finn and Elo were silly at first, awkwardly dancing around one another looking for the proper way to play. Once TImbits got in on the action and was smothering Elo, Finn caught on and all the action began. Finn too was bouncing around with his friends, and all over them. Their wrestling and rolling quickly turned into running which Finn is always keen to join in on. He raced around the yard sometimes leading and sometimes following. He loved having Timbits and Elo, and occasionally Coco hot on his heels. He continued to loop around the yard until he spotted a bone out of the corner of his eye. Of course this caught his attention and he was gone from the games. Finn enjoyed the remainder of his outdoor time gnawing on a bone which he also brought back indoors to his kennel.

Bella and Jake had so much fun today. Their group was full of younger, playful and outgoing dogs. Jake really wasn’t too sure of all the games going on. He spent quite some time trying to get the youngins in line by barking at them and dancing all around them. Once he realized how much fun their games really were, Jake decided to take part in the fun. He had loads of fun racing around with group mates Finnigan, Elo and Timbits. Jake is always so keen to race around when he finds the right group of mates. Bella was happy spending a good portion of her outdoor time sniffing the yard. When Jake was finally done all his games he decided to visit his sister. I trotted along behind them as they explored together which got Bella very excited. Next thing I knew, she was bouncing all over Jake asking for him to play. The duo had lots of fun play bowing back and forth and dancing around in circles.

Timbits made a new best friend today, Elo. Elo is a young dog that is full of positive energy topped off with a very outgoing personality. Timbits and Elo hit it off right away when they went outdoors. The boys couldn’t keep their paws off one another for longer than a minute. It was constant wrestling, rolling, and running for these two monkeys. Coco wasn’t far behind the action, as we all know she loves to control her baby brothers business. She was trying her hardest to get him to focus on her rather than Elo, but didn’t have much luck. After lots of howling and jumping, Coco gave up. She decided if she can’t beat ‘em, she should join them and from here on out Coco Timbits Finnigan and Elo were a great foursome. They powered around the yard as fast as they could, only stopping to wrestle. It was a lot of fun to watch Coco and Timbits fit in so well with these two silly boys.

Max and Sadie were such angels for me today, as they usually are. I had them patiently waiting in their kennel in great sits and downs until I gave them the ok to motor outdoors. OF course Max was the first one out of the kennel once the ok was given. He darts out the door hooting and hollering while spinning in circles. Sadie tends to squeeze by him and race across the yard in attempts to get away from his screaming. Max usually bolts right after her which only leads to a massive chase. The pair seemed to be extra speedy today, bolting at lightening speed in circles around the yard. Max was sure to get some wrestling in, too. Sadie was much more keen to box than wrestle which Max was ok with too. Max and Sadie had bundles of fun pouncing all over one another and racing around. The pair finished their outdoor time off sitting by my side at the picnic table accepting lots of cuddles as well as offering me lots of kisses.

Molly is so much fun to have around her outgoing, and loving personality is a simple joy. Molly loved her group today as she had two other goldens outdoors with her. She was quick to make friends with Charly as these two share the same passion for toys. Today the orange ball was the highlight of their outdoor time. The pair made their entire outdoor time about this ball and their friendly competition over it. We played so many rounds of fetch I lost count. Both Charly and Molly are really great at giving up the ball when asked. Well, they were at the start. As Molly began to realize that she didn’t always get to retrieve the ball since Charly would beat her sometimes, she began to keep the ball rather than dropping it after fetch. Charly wasn’t too sure about this, as it made her very jealous. Molly loved the attention Charly was giving her by following her around so she turned the following into running. Molly began bolting around the yard with the ball in her mouth and Charly hot on her heels. The pair had a lot of fun dancing around. Finally, Molly gave the ball up to Charly and the rolls were reversed. They continued these shenanigans for their whole time outside, occasionally being accompanied by other friends too.
Molly was so excited to head up to the playroom for her extra attention time. As soon as we got in the room I put the toy bin on the ground. Molly wasted no time in put her head in and selecting a toy. She then brought it over to me so I could give it a throw. We soon had a nice game of fetch going on. Molly eventually made her way back to the toy bin, this time she selected a bone. She settled down with it for about 20 seconds then decided she still wanted to play and headed back to the toy bin. Molly sampled a couple toys before deciding on the Kong toy. She made her way back to me and we started another game of fetch. Molly especially loved when I bounced the toy and she had to figure out where it was going to go. Eventually she got tired and settle down with a toy.

It’s been a while since I last saw Sammy, and boy was I pleased to see this pretty girl today. She looks great after her groom! She is so shiny, and black, she looks very velvety. When Sammy came outdoors after her groom the first thing she did was roll around in the snow. I tried to stop her, but I didn’t have much luck. The rolling continued on for her whole time outdoors. She would take a break to briefly join in on some boxing and wrestling with Koda and Nyxx and then return to rolling. She also enjoyed racing around with Molly and Charly, but not as much as she enjoyed rolling. Sammy spent so much time giving herself her own version of a bath by smothering herself in the fresh powder. She was so pleased with herself that it was hard to ask her to please not roll. As long as she’s happy, that’s all that matters.
