Max and Sadie didn’t let the rain get them down today! They were keen to get out in the yard for all of their outings, being extra careful with their footing. The duo was happy to have the day to do a lot of sniffing and exploring. Max wasp particularly focused on the perimeter of the yard where the grass and gravel is slowly uncovering. Sadie on the other hand is definitely a snow girl. She was pawing and digging at every last patch of snow in the yard before the rain turned it to ice. On top of all their sniffing and exploring, both Max and Sadie were very appreciative of all the attention they got today. They love being cuddled in the yard when they have had enough of all the adventuring.

Issy and Mocha were very pleased with their day today. All this dreary weather resulted in more indoor time than usual. The girls loved having the kitchen and the playroom as their sanctuaries today. They kept pretty busy accepting as much love, and snacks as possible. In the yard they were very eager to do some sniffing and exploring. The rain has brought up many scents which kept their noses very busy. Issy motored around with her nose to the ground, as usual. While Mocha took a turn being the social one. Mocha trotted around after handsome boy Tanner, looking to get to know him. They had some cute interactions, wagging their tails and slowly body bumping. The ice was a put of a damper on their games, resulting in them just wandering around side by side instead. The girls were happy when the door opened up, where they ran in to dry terrain.

Percy was such a good sport with this bummer weather today. He was so excited to partake in whatever activities we had going on, even though it was different than his normal day. Percy loved his frequent short outings. He continuously was on a hunt for a ball, making due with ice chunks instead. Percy had a great time batting ice around the yard, trying hard to stick to the softer terrain where he could get some better grip. Percy played with all the toys he could in the playroom this afternoon. He was very vocal with his requests to play, letting us know what he wanted very clearly.

Tanner was keen to arrive and head straight into the staff room. When he noticed he would be spending the day in the staff room with staff dog, Charly, he politely asked to go to a kennel since she can be very playful. Tanner was very pleased with his large kennel today. He spent a lot of time lounging on his cot, on a comfy blanket as well across the floor. He got very comfortable in his space as he wasn’t too keen on the outdoors. When he was outside he was sure to only stay for a short period of time. He was a little flirty with fellow daycare friend, Mocha, but was much more intrigued by all the scents around the perimeter of the yard where the grass and gravel is uncovering. He kept busy nosing his way around the yard, stopping whenever he passed me for pets and cuddles. He was mostly happy to return indoors where he got to spend some time in the playroom with Katie, getting even more pats and cuddles.

Sadie is just a bundle of joy and has been such a pleasure to be around during her short visit with us so far! You can tell she is still a puppy at heart and is extremely excitable and easily distracted with so many new smells in this environment. It was an icy morning, so we made sure that Sadie took it extra easy outside today, but she enjoyed her time nonetheless. In fact, she was quite interested in a rock she found and would mouth and paw at it as if it was the most special treasure. Then her attention was focused on a fallen leaf that she wanted to get into her mouth, that’s what I meant by easily distracted, she definitely has the fun-loving Golden retriever personality! She was very curious as to why I was taking pictures of her; she didn’t know what this thing was in my hand, you can tell by the confused look on her face every time I took a snap! To keep her distracted from running across the icy yard, we spent some time cuddling and she especially enjoyed the head rubs, what a sweet girl!

The small-dog clan was extremely brave this morning by taking their first outing out in the icy yard, but it was quite mild so none of them seemed to actually mind. Pearl couldn’t be bothered at all, in fact she quickly found her way all the way into the far yard, I was surprised to see how agile she was across the yard! Lola on the other hand took one look at that icy yard and said forget about it! Luckily, she found a dry patch and spent her time exploring the perimeter of the yard, smart girl that one is! Pearl was joined by friends Merlin and Pepper who were just as eager to get out into the far yard as she was. But it was all business for these two with their little noses stuck to the ground in exploration. Merlin must have picked up a strong scent because he was motoring around until he came to a stop where he found little friend Samson. Merlin adores the little ones and gave him a play bow to entice him to play but Samson said it’s much too icy to chase him today! Pepper was off in a world of her own, excited to be back in our care but had to make sure she sniffed out every inch of that yard as if it was the first time there. I was finally able to break her attention away for some cuddles, Pepper loves affection and didn’t mind the extra head-rubs at all! Excited for dryer days ahead so this energetic lady can play!

Pepper joined me in the reception area for her extra attention time this afternoon. She was a very curious girl and made her way around the room to find any interesting smells. When she got to the grooming room door she noticed little Julie looking back at her. I let Julie out to say hello and the girls spent a minute greeting one another. Julie wandered off across the room while I gave Pepper some pets and cuddles. She offered me a paw in exchange for a cookie like a very good girl. I showed Pepper lots of different toys, but she opted for a bum rub and a chin scratch instead. It’s always a pleasure to spend time with this sweet girl.
