Finnigan had a wild time out with his favourite buddies on this beautiful sunny morning. He is always pleased when he gets to hang out with the Husky triplets, Jynxx, Nyxx and Skie and there was never a moment without play! He had Golden sidekicks Charly and Merida to help him chase and tackle the silly Jynxx who was whipping around the yard in excitement. It was an action-packed group and Finn was the star of the show. He especially loves lady Huskies Jynxx and Skie and there was a lot of flirting going on today! Finn had a blast chasing Jynxx into the agility tunnel and he could hardly contain his excitement to see which end she was going to emerge from. Then the chase was on as everyone leaped after Jynxx when she finally made her exit. Finn then jumped up on top of the agility tunnel to see if he had a better chance to catch her. Finn was so tired after a morning of play that he didn’t even hesitate to go back inside for a rest, he followed Charly into the staff room to see what sort of trouble they could get into next!

Sophie is our very spunky and extremely vocal Golden gal who is just a breath of fresh air. Always happy, always smiling and always wiggling her bum in excitement! She was up to her usual Sophie ways this morning, leaping around the yard and singing away. Every so often she would run over to me and start howling and jumping up and down from her hind legs. I offered her my hand for cuddles and she happily wrapped her body around my legs in excitement! Bear, much like Sophie has the sweetest soul and is the happiest guy around. He loves being surrounded by such young and playful pups and does his best to keep up. He never wants to miss out on any of the fun and is always somewhere right in the middle of all the action! When he is not running around with his favourite four legged friends, he is likely cuddling inside with one of our staff. As I write he is currently wrapped up in a ball by my feet having an afternoons snooze. I don’t think he will be leaving anytime with all the head rubs he has been getting and not to mention he makes the most comfortable feet warmer! Spencer made a new best friend today, and it was Luigi the feisty redheaded viszla! These two were inseparable today and Spencer had to try his best to outrun Luigi who only had one thing on his mind and that was Spencer. Although Spencer loved all of the extra attention he was getting and had a blast leaping through the air, he was like a flying carpet or shag rug as the wind hit his hair. Then little Millie joined in and this duo soon became a trio and they had a blast whipping around the yard together.

Spencer was such a good boy today! He showed off his tricks for a couple of treats from Brooke, including his sit, down and stay. He then picked up a few different toys from the toy bin, of course, and settled down to chew on the pig for a little while. He enjoyed lots of pets and cuddles from myself and Brooke while he lounged in the reception area.

We were thrilled to have Quincy and Seamus spend another day in our care, these two sweet boys have had a wonderful stay with us so far and have made some long-lasting friendships! But there was a new face to the group today, redheaded Husky Ariel and she quickly got the attention of Quincy with her silly antics and fun loving personality. From that moment on, Quincy was in love and followed her endlessly around the yard like a lost puppy! He simply adored her and wanted to give her as many kisses to the face as she would let him. But being the fiery Husky that she is, she sprinted across the yard to see if he could catch up. And sure enough, there he was trying his best to catch up to her and was loving every minute of it! Seamus on the other hand was off having his own fun, he really enjoyed the warm sun this morning and decided to have a few good snow rolls in true Golden nature. He had lots of company as well with little Millie his sidekick and big boy Bear right by his side. I also had the pleasure of getting some big sloppy kisses from this big guy as I took a seat beside him in the snow.

Max and Sadie had another fun filled day out in the yard today with that favourite ball of theirs! First it was Sadie who had it and was trying to bury it in the snow, but Max quickly swooped in and stole it away from her like the pesky bigger brother he is! The chase for the ball then turned into a chase after one another across the yard. There’s my cue to step to the side as they came barrelling down the yard. All of that running really winded Sadie, so she hopped up onto the picnic table to have a rest. But we all know how that ended, with Max excitedly trying to pull her off. Some things never change with these two; a well needed rest was next on their fluffy beds before it was time to head back out and do it all over again!

Chloe had a very playful afternoon today. We started it off by putting on her jacket, which made her even more cute-didn’t think that was possible! Once she was nice and toasty we let her out to be with her friends, she was so happy she took off and ran the whole yard zooming past everyone. Once that was done she went and said hello and took her time sniffing around. She took a special interest to Harvey today and they would not stop playing tug of war with a rope they found in the yard. Chloe let Harvey win most of the time but near the end she was sure not to let go and got it from him, yay Chloe! I tried getting Chloe to run through the tunnel but she was too distracted by everything that was happening around her, so many dogs playing she didn’t know where to go but eventually decided to head back to her toy. Harvey saw this and jumped right on over to challenge her to another tug of war match. Near the end of group time, without me saying anything, Chloe went through the tunnel! It was great to watch and she was running with her toy in her mouth the whole time, very impressed with herself I think. Not going to lie… I was too!

Bruno is such a delight, I feel he is always happy and so outgoing in a positive way. Today he would not leave my side and just wanted lots of affection and back scratches. I did get him to play a little with the other dogs but he was more in a people person mood today, which is totally understandable. He had a really great walk today with two other friends and was extremely well behaved. He led the walk and stayed in the front-but never pulled me. The weather was cooler this morning than it was this afternoon and Bruno noticed this as he would tilt his head back and close his eyes as he looked toward the sun- I think this is a dogs version of sun bathing?! Later in the day, Bruno joined me in the reception area for some one on one time. He roamed around the room and came across a new friend, a sweet husky named Ariel. These two sniffed each other in greeting, and suddenly Ariel play-bowed to her new pal! Bruno was very excited and zoomed across the room. He bounced over to me and we sat together on the big comfy chair for some pets. Bruno hopped down after a bit to have a look at the toy bin, and I went to get him a special treat.

Keegan was very excited to go out first thing today. We had a very good walk and he was very docile just going with the flow and sniffing around all the different scents on the trail. He was not anxious this morning but I know he can be sometimes so I spent some extra time with him making sure he felt comfortable in his space and with me. He was wagging his tail and definitely didn’t mind the one on one time. Keegan was thrilled to follow me down the hall and into the front lobby for his extra attention session. There was lots of things to do and see and Keegan enjoyed some brainwork trying to collect the treats from the paw dispenser. But most of all he enjoyed spending his time cuddling since he just adores human affection and this little guy makes the best company!

Pepper was extra excited this morning to see me; normally she is happy and wags her tail and stays in her bed but today she came and rushed right over straight for some cuddles.  I was just as happy to see her all bright and cheery and gave her lots of love before taking her for her walk. On her walk she was very good, as usual, and stuck near the back of the group towards me. This worked out because she walked a little slower as she wanted to kind of check everything out as we passed all the different trees and bushes. Everyday there are new dogs so always new scents for Pepper. Pepper during groups was non-stop, I’m not sure what she was up to but she was going around the whole yard on a mission. She would stop once in a while to play a bit with the others but other than that she was onto a scent! She got even more love when we gave her our lunch and hung out with her while we ate ours too. She was quite pleased about this and kept wanting us to give her some back rubs. Of course, we obliged!
Pepper is the absolute sweetest girl. Every time I come to greet her in the kitchen she runs around in circles and purrs with excitement. I sat down on her bed and Pepper climbed right up on my lap and wagged her tail as fast as it could go. She gave me a couple of kisses before rolling onto her back for a belly rub. Pepper couldn't get enough pets today! She went from belly rub to back scratch, to chin scratch, and eventually rolled onto her side and drifted off to sleep as I pet her. It's so relaxing spending time with this girl every day!

Boris and Tasha will surely be sleeping tonight! They were paired with two other huskies and Merida their little golden friend and oh my goodness I could barely keep eyes on them they were flying around so fast. Tasha was right in there acting like a puppy chasing everyone and Boris was wrestling constantly with another husky. Boris had a lot of fun playing “peek-a-boo” with his friends in the tunnel, he would stand outside and wait for them to pop their heads out and entice them to come out and play. He got in there too running after them and around the yard. I love that Boris and Tasha are a fan of this weather because it was a beautiful day for them to be outside most of the time. They were extremely quiet this afternoon during lunch time as they were having a much needed nap. They are so cute when they curl up together... mother and son love.
