Boris made a best friend today right off the bat. Haley and
he are a match made in heaven. The pair spotted one another from across the way upon entering the yard, and hardly left each others sides for the remainder
of group time. The main reason Boris and Haley were so attracted to one
another is because their play styles are so similar. The pair would much rather
remain in one spot, swinging paws at each other and leaping on one another’s
backs rather than causing a big fast commotion. That being said, Boris was sure
to get a couple sprints around the yard in with Haley hot on his heels. While
Boris was very busy with Haley, Tasha wasn’t too far away. She kept a very
close eye on her son, making sure he was on his best behaviour. As usual, when
things got intense she stepped in to tell him it was too much. Most of the time
Boris shrugged her off. When Kyah came around asking to play too, Boris and
Haley happily invited her in. Tasha then joined in on the fun and the foursome
had a great time bouncing around. As Magic made her way into the action, Tasha
broke off to check her daughter out. Magic and Tasha then did some wandering
around together, taking the time to appreciate one another’s company.
Finnigan was a rather independent boy today. He was very
focused on all the smells around the yard, which is what kept him busy for the
majority of his outdoor time. The thin fresh layer of powder over our icy yard
made for some good fun too. Finn loved slipping and sliding all around the
yard. He loved the taste of all the fresh snow, and he had plenty in his fluffy beard.
While Finn was goofing around, he came across Justice who was very busy with
the big red ball. Finn wasn’t going to let Justice have all the fun and quickly
snatched it away from him. To my surprise, Finn returned the ball to my feet
asking for it to be thrown. I had both he and Justice leaping all over me as I
lifted it up and was preparing to launch it. The two boys had so much fun
competing for the ball. In the end, Justice got a hold of it and batted it all
around the yard with Finn following. The pair had so much fun playing soccer on
the slippery terrain. Finn kept quite busy with Justice and the ball for the
remainder of group time until it was time to head indoors, and thaw out.
Mika has been such a pleasure to have. I will miss her after
she departs this weekend. She has been such a great addition to our play
groups, always bringing a positive vibe and fun energy. Mika has been happy to
sport her coat these last couple of days. She gets very excited and wiggly when
you enter her kennel with her coat in your hand, eager to bundle up for the
weather. In the yard today Mika was particularly interested in young Buddy, the
Bernese. Buddy is always keen to play with just about anything that moves. Mika
was all over him today, keen to play with him in whatever way he wanted. The
pair met up while playing fetch but quickly ditched the ball to enjoy one another’s
company instead. Mika was so silly, pouncing all over Buddy asking him to
please box and wrestle. Buddy is such a wiggly boy, that he had a hard time
staying on his hind legs long enough to box with Mika. Buddy and Mika ended up
dancing around together, constantly mouthing at one another and swatting each
other with their paws. It was great fun for me to watch. Towards the end of
play groups, Mika was sure to make her way to my side to enjoy some one on one
time. Mika is famous for leaping like a frog up at our faces, nose bumping us
requesting kisses and cuddles.
It was another morning well spent with my
favourite brother-sister duo Max and Sadie! They are always eager to get their
morning started with a trot along the back trail and their whole bodies wiggle
with excitement when they see me approach their kennel door. Off we went
speeding into the forest where they happily galloped and sniffed away! A short
while later it was time to head back outside for some fun in the snow on this
chilly day. But of course, Max and Sadie couldn’t be bothered with the cold; in
fact they embraced it! Impatient as they were to head out the door, they
complied to the perfect sit and held their wiggly bums to the ground until I
gave them the go ahead. Ok I said and before I knew it, Max had whipped out of
his kennel and into the yard where he proceeded with a few laps as part of his
daily warm up. Meanwhile, Sadie had her nose glued to the ground as she was off
in her own world sniffing away. Only to be interrupted by her big silly brother
Max who was ready to play. That’s my cue to step out of the way because before
I knew it they were off whipping around they yard chasing after one another in
usual Max and Sadie fashion. At one point they were even fighting over a chip
of wood that Sadie found and she just thought it was the most precious
treasure. Max did everything he could to steal it away, only to realize it was
a piece of wood!? Back inside they went for some much needed rest on their
cloud-like beds.
