Calvin and Obi had the whole room to themselves as they settled in today. I went in to visit a few times throughout the day, and I found Calvin curled up in his cubby, and Obi in the box of the cat tree each time. I encouraged them to come out a little later on, and Obi took his time to explore the room, while Calvin decided to take his brother's place in the box of the cat tree. I picked Calvin up for some snuggles before putting him back in his spot. Obi saw us and came over to check on Calvin. He sniffed at the cat tree for a moment before hopping into the box, too. The boys sat close together for a little while, watching me as I watched them. When Obi was ready, he hopped back down and went to take Calvin's spot, curled up in their cubby.
Quincy and Seamus are the sweetest duo in the world. These
boys are so easy going and lovely, making their company very enjoyable. The pair
settled into their kennel very fast. They were very appreciative of the two
comfy beds we gave them, giving them some nice padding to snooze on in between
outings. They are both constantly looking at you with the sweetest expression
on their face. It’s easy to tell all they want is love and attention. In the
yard the boys were super excited to see all the other dogs. They were both
drawn towards the three other goldens that accompanied them in the yard. Both
Quincy and Seamus loved trotting around with Molly, Sophie, and Tucker. Since
it was their first day in the yard, their noses kept them pretty busy. They
both motored around the perimeter of the yard, sniffing and exploring
everything under their paws. When their friends offered to play with them they
were eager to say their hellos, but then put their noses back to the ground to continue
exploring. When the boys came across Issy, their eyes lit up. They for sure
recognized her. The trio did some brief dancing before Issy took off to find
Mocha. At this point, Quincy made his way to my side looking for some pats and
cuddles. When Seamus noticed me kneeling down by Quincy smothering him with
love, he made his way over to get in on the action. I had both my hands
occupied for quite some time, giving these boys oodles of pets and cuddles. Before
it was time to head in, Millie the spunky Boston Terrier introduced herself to
the boys by perching up on their shoulders and sniffing them over. They were
both excited to meet this fun young lady. Seamus was especially keen to wiggle
around in a circle with her, while Quincy chose to roll on his back to greet
her.
Sophie is so excited to return. She couldn’t have been more
eager to see me walk down the hall with leashes in hand. She knew what time it
was, and could barely wait as I hooked her up. We set out for a nice trail walk
with golden friends, Tucker and Molly. I was very busy untangling leashes for
the majority of the walk as all three of them insisted on rolling in the snow constantly
down the entire trail. Sophie loves to bathe herself along side her friends, burying
her muzzle in the snow and then pushing herself along the slick layers of ice.
She could not have been happier to have the whole walk to do this. In the yard,
Sophie was on the hunt for a toy from the moment she got outdoors. She was
super excited to spot Molly running around with the Jolly Ball. No matter what
toy I offered her, she insisted on getting in on Molly’s games. I ended up
playing fetch with both the golden girls. They alternated retrieving, but would
both chase it each time. The ladies were pleased to have the company of 3
handsome golden boys in their group. Sophie was very interactive with them,
flirting a bunch by kissing their ears and doing some cute circles around them.
Issy and Mocha were just about as pleased as I was with the
return of the cold weather…not pleased at all. Mocha was very set on spending
her day in the few sunny spots in the yard. She made her way around the yard,
finding the sunshine as it moved. The only time she was bothered to adventure
around was when she noticed her neighbours were near by. She made her way over
to them to say her hellos, before making her way to my side in the sun for some
pets and cuddles. Issy was much more keen than Mocha to do some exploring of
the yard. Issy was on her way around the yard when she came across Seamus. She
instantly began doing her classic circles with her tail high and ears wiggling
around. She was super excited to meet up with him, and flirt her little heart
out. Quincy noticed his brother saying hello to a lady, so he made his way over
to say hello too. Issy was happy to have these boys keep her company as she
wandered around the yard investigating the perimeter of the yard where the
grass is beginning to uncover.
Tsavo and Cai were very surprised to see one another in the
yard today. They sniffed each other over head to toe for a while, as if they
were meeting for the first time and were suspicious of one another. I got a
good laugh when finally, Cai pawed at Tsavo, then bounced back and play bowed.
Tsavo leaned right into him and gave him a good chomp on the face in a loving,
sisterly way. They had a brief box around before breaking off to meet their
other group mates. Cai was pretty fascinated with all the young pups in his
group today. He spent a good while following Polly, Chloe and Harvey around as
they wiggled around with each other playing. HE was quick to break off from
them when he noticed Jynxx the husky zooming around like the funny girl she is.
Tsavo was right in on this too. Soon enough, Tsavo and Cai had Jynxx in the
palm of their paws, dancing around with her. They had so much fun boxing back
and forth as well as racing n circles around the agility tunnel. Jynxx had
Tsavo and Cai very fascinated by her silly move of rolling around on the
ground. All of her shenanigans kept the duo very occupied. They were happy to
break off from the games occasionally to accept pets and cuddles from me. Our
cuddle sessions never lasted long as they were much more interested in all the
new fun faces they had to play around with.
Oakley switched things up on us and decided to spend daycare
with us on a Thursday instead of a Wednesday, which meant new friends to meet!
Although she was happy to be greeted by energetic daycare lad Teddy the Border Collie,
she stuck to her usual crew of Husky pals Justice and Kyah. Oakley was full of
energy when I approached her kennel door for her first outing and darted out
into the yard with no hesitations. When I came around the corner she was
already pawing at Justice’s head in excitement and nuzzling noses with Kyah!
But when she saw me, she couldn’t resist but run over for some cuddles and
jumped up on her hind legs to give me a sloppy kiss on the face! She didn’t
stay for long however, she was a busy bee this morning and wanted to make sure
she got enough playtime with her friends. If she wasn’t flirting with Justice,
she was wrestling with Kyah and loved every minute of it. While Oakley was off
with Justice and Kyah, Teddy was having his own fun with newly found friends Rupert
the Aussie and Brooke the lab. Although younger and much faster, Teddy enjoyed
his time running circles around these older pups. Brooke especially loved his
company and Teddy really brought out the playful side in her. Being the agile
guy he is, he also made sure to loop around the Huskies when things started
getting playful, he never wants to miss out on the fun! Heavy tongue out and
all, Teddy definitely ran up his usual storm today and along the way, bonded
with some new friends!
Max and Sadie were up to their usual antics this morning and
were out just in time for the sun to come out to break up this cold and windy
day! Sadie decided it was the perfect opportunity to lounge out on top of her
favourite picnic table and enjoy the warmth. But it wasn’t long before she was
interrupted by her mischievous bigger brother Max who wanted to play! Sadie
took him up on the offer and the two of them sped across the snowy yard in
usual fashion. I finally got their attention by calling them over to offer up
some cuddles. Max and Sadie never miss out on the opportunity for some love,
they are two of the sweetest and cuddliest pups around. They both gave me the
perfect sit as I rubbed their heads and that’s when they noticed the plane
flying over ahead. Their heads immediately tilted up and they were mesmerized
for a few moments, the perfect photo opp for me! They were thankful to head
back inside to find warmth on their fluffy beds.
Pepper was excited to have a bigger and playful friend join
her group this morning. It was that of Maya who was joined by brother Rocky,
our regular daycare pals. When Pepper saw Maya in the distance she could
immediately sense her fun-loving personality and started to excitedly walk
towards her. She was right; Maya is such a playful and spirited girl and took
Pepper up on her offer to play. There was a lot of friendly stand-offs between
the two of them, anxiously waiting to see who would make the first move.
Finally, Maya would sprint across the yard to see if Pepper would follow and
sure enough Pepper was always hot on her trail! They were soon joined by Missy
and Chase who wanted to join in on the fun and this duo soon became four and
they wrestled and chased one another all morning long. While the four of them
were stirring up trouble in the far yard, Rocky was quite content hanging out
with the quieter pups up front like Samson and Julie where he could leisurely
sniff the front yard. Never straying too far away from his usual spot by the
door of course. He was happy to see that the sun came out just in time to warm
up a nice spot in the snow where he happily spent most of his morning, in good
company, and always with one eye on his silly sister in the distance!
