Molly was in such a perky mood today. She was full of energy first thing in the morning and couldn't wait to get the day started! For her walk, Molly met up with some of her playful friends, Hudson and Emma. Right away the small group was bouncing around like crazy. Molly wrestled with Emma and then went skipping ahead to check out the trail. She explored the snow for a while until Hudson and Emma raced past, and Molly went hurrying after them to keep playing. When we eventually reached the end of their walk all of the dogs were ready for a nap! Next it was time for the main groups of the day! Molly was on her feet as soon as I opened her kennel door. She flew out the door and immediately began to search for something to play with. Molly absolutely loves her toys! She discovered the jolly ball in one of the outdoor kennels and sat patiently waiting for me to get it. Once I handed it to her, Molly happily trotted off with the ball to show the rest of the dogs. Occasionally somebody would take interest in her toy and wander over to check it out, then Molly would quickly scoop the ball up and go prancing off. Once she was satisfied that everybody had seen her wonderful toy, Molly headed over to me and dropped it right at my feet. It was a bit too icy to be playing fetch, so Molly and I went over to a patch of snow and rolled the ball around. She had so much fun pouncing on it. Then Molly decided to go exploring, and ventured all over the yard for the last bit of group time, carrying the ball everywhere she went.

Tucker is always a delight to have in the yard. He is so sweet and cuddly. This morning he was so excited for walks that he could hardly wait for the leash to be put on! Once outside, Tucker met up with his friends Riley and Mika. The three of them quickly set the pace and headed for the trail. Tucker was happy to roam around in the snow with some company. He had a busy time sniffing every tree and crevice that he came across. After his walk, Tucker headed to the playroom for his extra attention. He cuddled and played fetch with Julie for a while. When it was time for his group, he was right back on his feet and bouncing around with excitement. Outside in the yard Tucker ran around to say hello to everyone, and was very happy to meet Ricky, Wally and Glory. Tucker then headed off to explore the yard. He sniffed around the fence and occasionally passed by to say hello to me and get some cuddles. During his adventure, Tucker discovered the perfect spot for a roll. He quickly flopped over and was soon wriggling around with his feet waving in the air. Molly walked over to see what on earth he was doing! Tucker hopped up, gave Molly a friendly sniff and then wandered off again. Our volunteer Eric came out to join us for the last few minutes and Tucker absolutely loved cuddling with him. Overall Tucker had a great day full of snuggles!

Riley was the first of her group to say hello to me this morning. She's such a sweetheart! We cuddled outside during the first outing of the day while the rest of the dogs were still waking up. Everybody was in a much more energetic mood when it was time for walks. Riley teamed up with her friends Tucker and Mika. She was so excited to get to the trail and immediately put her nose to the ground to start exploring. Riley enjoyed everyone's company while they trotted along and checked out anything that looked or smelled interesting. After that relaxing walk it was playtime! Riley hurried outside and made her rounds to greet the other dogs. She stopped by to see me for a quick back scratch. Then Riley met her new best friend! Ricky wasn't too sure about this dog that had suddenly bounced up to him, but Riley was all over him. She happily followed him all over the yard while Ricky was wandering around. Anything that he stopped to sniff, Riley would do the same. Occasionally she would bump shoulders or nudge him with her nose to see if he wanted to play. It took lots of persuasion but eventually Riley managed to get Ricky to chase her around the yard a couple of times. After that Riley was satisfied and came over to cuddle with me for a while, before heading back to hang out with her friend.

Mika and I had a one-on-one group today! She had such a great time cuddling and playing. Before going outside, I was putting Mika's coat on since it was still a bit chilly and she was so excited that I could hardly buckle it! Once she was bundled up we headed to the door. Mika quickly trotted outside and made a beeline for the fence, where she started to sniff around. She gave the area a once-over and then suddenly seemed to notice me for the first time. With her tail and bum wiggling like crazy, Mika came flying over and practically went headfirst into my legs. We snuggled for a bit and then I decided to find Mika a toy as she had so much energy to spare. As soon as I picked up the jolly ball, she hurried over and sat down. Her manners were so nice that of course I gave her a pat and handed the ball over. Mika happily trotted off with it in her mouth. Occasionally she would wander back in my direction, and as soon as we made eye contact Mika would stand perfectly still with only her tail wagging. Then I would pretend to try and take the toy while Mika dodged my hand. At one point Mika accidentally dropped the ball and it went sliding away on the ice. She attempted to get her feet on it, but since it was so slippery, it was a bit of a challenge! Mika kicked it around with her feet for a bit and then managed to scoop it up in her mouth. She proudly carried it back to me and we continued our game.

Although it was cold outside today, Kouza was eager to get outside.  She enjoyed sniffing all around the yard but made sure to stay in the warm sun.  She spent some time getting to know another dog named Emma who was very gentle with her.  Kouza liked sniffing her.  She also spent a lot of time near the people outside with her.  She always likes being pet the most when she’s outside.  During her extra attention this morning Kouza was uninterested in playing with the toys, even her favourite pig.  She was more concerned with walking around the front and saying hello to everyone passing through.

Skie, Jynxx and Nyxx had a blast outside today, as always.  Outside playtime is always their favourite because they are so full of energy.  Jynxx and Nyxx had a great time chasing each other in and out of the agility tunnel.  Skie was off sniffing near the fence when this was going on.  Later Nyxx discovered that he could break large pieces of the ice off around the play structure and hid underneath it afterwards to enjoy his new treasures.  Skie stood guard on top of the structure to make sure he wouldn’t be bothered.  All three of the huskies ran full speed from yard to yard chasing after each other.  Of course they played with other dogs in the group as well but nothing compares to playtime with your siblings.

Emma is a very gentle girl.  She had a wonderful time outside today.  She played a little bit with a dog-named Mika.  Mika loves to chase the ball and Emma loves to chase Mika.  After a short while though Emma lost interest once she met another dog, Ginger.  Both are very sweet girls.  These two did not play as much as they just walked side by side around both yards sniffing the same spots and enjoying each other’s company.  Emma also had a good time hogging all the pets from the people outside with her.  If you bend down for any reason within seconds she would be there to steal some attention.  Of course no one minded giving her all the pets she could ask for.
