I was thrilled to see Tic Tac’s sweet face
bright and early this morning as she greeted me with excitement from her kennel
door. She was excited to head outside and explore the yard, her favourite thing
to do! She saw some familiar faces out in the yard today, that of daycare pals
Coco and Timbits. Tic Tac has gained so much confidence since day one and there
she was off leading the pack of small guys into the far yard; the rain didn't bother her one bit. Both Coco and Tim were trailing right behind her, ready to
sniff the yard away. These two are no strangers to having a good time in the
yard with their favourite little four-legged friends. Coco made her usual laps
around the yard but then she decided to join Julie and Samson by the door. They
were protesting against the rain, but luckily they got some indoor playtime a little later. Tim, on the other hand, was having a blast
running around with little Xiao Bao and Kado. The rain couldn’t stop these
three from enjoying their time together!
Max and Sadie enjoyed their time outdoors
this morning even though it was a wet and cold one. But these two are always
ready to play, rain or shine! Sadie was up for a game of fetch with her
favourite blue chuck it ball, but she didn’t get the memo about “leaving it”
after she caught it. She didn’t want to let that ball go out of her sight since
Max was peeking around the corner just waiting to snatch it up. She settled for
a nice chew while she relaxed on the ground. Knowing very well that Sadie would
be off in her own world for a little while, Max happily followed me around the
yard for some nice back scratches and posed for some photos like the handsome
model he is! But it wouldn’t be an outing if Max and Sadie didn’t have an epic
wrestle amongst the snow, one last time before heading back inside to dry off!
Max and Sadie have been so good and patient with their place training, I had hoped to take them for a good outdoor romp today before doing their place training - but the weather was just miserable and everyone had been soaked too many times today. So we stayed inside but hopefully we can get out for an extra interesting session tomorrow! They both headed straight to the front door when they came up to the reception area, like they could read my mind, and it took them a bit longer to settle down and stay in place today, but after some reminders they both did very well.
Rex had a
lot of fun today, despite the crummy weather. He enjoyed partaking in two
separate groups. Skie and Jynxx were his first mates, both of whom he loves. He
spent his time wandering around after them, constantly flirting and asking for
some attention. The girls were much too focused on all the smells in the yard
to pay him much attention. He did briefly play with Jynxx, before being
distracted by a ball and playing some fetch with me. During Rex's second group
he was eager to meet all the dogs. He made his way from dog to dog saying
polite hellos. He was a very big fan of Georgia, a young husky mix. Rex and
Georgia kept pretty busy racing around the yard together. He only left her side
when he made note of a toy that was being tossed around between Chloe and Finn.
Rex joined in on the group fetch going on. He was very fast on his feet,
manoeuvring around the other dogs with ease. When it was time to return indoors
he was pleased to snag a Nylabone, which he brought back to his kennel. We
traded it for a rawhide which he was just as pleased about.
This weather was a little harder
for Fez. Rather than free roaming in the yard, he got some
special attention and got to go for nice field strolls. It is snow in the field
whereas the yards are much slicker. Fez loved everything about the field.
Underneath the thin layer of snow is lots of grass, dirt and springtime mud!
Amongst this are many scents that kept Fez busy. I followed him as he led me
all around. He was so content with all the territory to explore. We spent a lot
of time wandering around at a relaxed pace. When he was ready he led me back to
the front door where he happily returned to his kennel to enjoy a rawhide treat
and then a nap. Fez was excited to head up to the playroom with Rex, Leah
and Nicki for some indoor time on this rainy afternoon. Leah set up the treat
puzzle for Rex with some of his special treats, while Fez enjoyed some
attention from both Nicki and Leah. It was an afternoon well spent!
Chloe was more eager than ever to
get in the yard and find a toy today. Unfortunately, part of the yard was very
icy which limited the amount of fetch we could do. Chloe was just as happy to
run around with the jolly ball in her mouth. She can be quite the show off with
this. She loves to rub it in her friends faces that she has possession of the
toys. Finn and Rex were very aware of the treasure she possessed and tried hard
to get it from her. Miss Chloe wasn't going to let up for anyone. She paraded
around snorting and barking while still holding the toy. This got her lots of
looks and attention from her mates. She did enjoy a couple rounds of fetch in
the far yard before making her way back to the main yard where she continued to
investigate the yard with her ball tightly gripped. Later in the afternoon, Chloe had a special indoor time with Joey and Giacomo. She focused on some treats, pets and toys with Nicki, while the boys did some tricks for treats and cuddled with Leah on the couch.
It was a pleasure for me to
return after my weekend off to see that Joey and Giacomo are with us. These two
boys always put a smile on my face. I don't know how keen they were about all
this rain this morning. They wandered around the yard, shaking off very often,
and visiting me a lot. The boys were much happier about their afternoon outing
as the rain had stopped and the yard began to thaw. Giacomo was rather frisky
with group mate Justice. These two danced around briefly before Justice took
off looking for a chase. Giacomo wasn't against this, so he frolicked along
behind Justice until he got distracted with some scents along the fence.
Meanwhile, Joey had his head pressed against my leg looking for love and
attention. Joey is notorious for all the cuddles he demands. I'm always more
than happy to give him snuggles, which of course draws Giacomo over too. The
boys were pleased with their busy day, and happily rested in the dry warm
kennel between outings. Later, they had a special time in the playroom with Chloe the Boxer and with both pet activity coordinators.
Needless to say Finn had a
fabulous Monday at daycare. It doesn't take much to keep Finn busy. He was very
happy to spend some time with us up front when he first arrived. He had free
range of the hall too, which he enjoyed wandering around until we finally
decided to put him in a kennel. Finnigan loved meeting Georgia today; the two
of them played so much it was great to watch. Finnigan had a good time boxing
around with her. Their equal sides made for even playing which resulted in lots
of fun and intense matches. Finn also got Georgia racing after him around the
yard. As he was zipping around he came across a lovely Nylabone. Of course all
the games came to an immediate stop, as he lay down to gnaw on it. To my
surprise, Finn picked the bone up and actually asked to return indoors to chew
on it. He had a nice time gnawing on it in his kennel where he also dried off,
before heading out for another round of playing and fun.
