Finnigan, our frisky daycare friend had a
blast out in the yard today, no different than any other day except there was fresh
snow covering the yards, Finny’s favourite! Finn was up to his usual
shenanigans, all he needs is good pals Charly and Buddy to play with and a ball
he can catch and guard with his life. But as usual, there was some stiff competition
out there today, lots of fetch-loving addicts such as Charly and most certainly
Chloe, our Boxer boarder who is just as keen for toys! I would be lying if I
said the three of them sat there and waited patiently for me to throw the ball;
more like lots of whining and jumping up on their hind legs to try and snatch
it before I even had a chance to throw it. To no one's surprise, Chloe was the first
one to catch the ball after I threw it - this lady is a professional when it
comes to fetch and there was no way she was going to let two silly pups rain on
her parade! Charly was relentless however and anxiously followed Chloe around
the yard with hopes that she would give it up, but not this time, Chloe thought.
She was holding on to that ball for dear life! Finn on the other hand had
already forgotten about the ball - he was
off having a friendly wrestle with Buddy the Burnese; these two black pups were
just covered in snow and didn't have a care in the world!
New friends Kane and Fergus joined this
playful group a short while later. You could call them the gentle giants of the
group. Fergus may be big, but he is just a sweetheart and thrilled to be back
in our company for a day of fun! Never without a smile on his face, Fergus happily
trotted around the yard and introduced himself to this playful pack. Everyone
adored Fergus since he exudes such a fun-loving energy and he excitedly joined
the others as they rolled and played across the snowy yard. Fergus really
enjoyed the company of Kane; there were some friendly standoffs between these
two big guys, just waiting to see who would make the first move, Fergus’ bum
just wiggling in anticipation!
Tic Tac has been enjoying her stay with us
these past couple of days; she has really come out of her shell and we have
been seeing a more playful side of her. She really adores the company of her
small four-legged friends and they have made her feel at home while boarding
with us! Tic Tac loves to spend her time exploring the yard; she is always the
first one out the door and the last one to come in because she enjoys her time
outside so much. But I can always lure her nose away from the ground by calling
her over to have some cuddles. Tic Tac never misses the opportunity for a good
head rub! She put her paws up on my knee and we watched the other little ones
run circles around us on this beautiful snowy day!
Always excited to see daycare friends Coco
and Timbits for a day of fun, but probably not as excited as they are to be
back in their happy place! The morning kicks off with a trail walk out back and
although small, these two little ones walk with force with their curious noses
leading the way! The fun continues outside for a morning of play, and to no
surprise Coco and Timbits are off sniffing the yard; they had to make up for
lost time and sure enough they sniffed out every inch of that yard! Once their
job was done, they were ready to play. Little
friends Xiao Bao and Cloud were circling around them trying their best to
entice them to play. Coco was very gentle with the little ones, especially
knowing Cloud is just a puppy, she let him sniff around her and climb up on her
back with no hesitation. Tim on the other hand was ready to play, and zoomed
across the yard with Xiao Bao right behind him! Cloud tried his best to keep up
to Tim and Xiao Bao but he is just a little guy and had a hard time maneuvering
his tiny legs in the heavy snow. It was probably the cutest thing I have seen
all day, he is just the sweetest and cuddliest little boy around. He had another
great day socializing with his new friends and is learning new tricks and
manners every time he visits.
Rex and Fez have accepted new friends into
their family pack, that of Husky girls Jynxx and Skie. They have become fast
friends over the past couple of days and they truly enjoy one another’s
company! I could barely entice Rex today for a game of fetch; he was too
occupied chasing after silly Jynxx. Not to mention I could barely get a cuddle
out of Fez, he forgets sometimes that he is older but that doesn’t stop this
friendly lab from trying to keep up with his brother and the girls. Rex even
enjoyed his morning trail walk with Jynxx and Skie, while Fez was treated like
royalty with his special one on one walk. Never a dull moment when these two
frisky brothers are around!
Boris and Tasha were excited to be spending
their Friday in our care on this snowy day. We all know how much huskies loves
the snow and today called for an epic play session for Boris, Tasha and fellow husky friends Isis and Sky. I don’t think there was ever a moment of quiet; these four could have wrestled and played all day long if we let them. But they
definitely expended their energy today, as the girls all teamed up and together
they chased and wrestled Boris across the snowy yard. Boris just adored all of
the attention he was getting but found it hard to outrun the girls, especially
Tasha who was instigating all of the play. It was the most entertaining to
watch these four wrestle and howl in true husky nature!
Max and Sadie must have been tired this
afternoon, in fact I don’t think I have ever seen them so docile, all they
wanted to do was hang out in the yard with lots of hugs and kisses to give. I
certainly know why they are so pooped, they have expended their energy all week
long while boarding and training with us and it’s starting to show! Sadie
rolled around in the snow with her favourite blue chuck-it ball and for a while and
Max brought out a piece of his bone to chew on. This started a gentle chase and
wrestle across the yard but nothing like their usual rambunctious selves.
That’s ok, I didn’t mind the company as I found Max and Sadie wrapped around my
legs for an afternoon of cuddles on this beautiful snowy afternoon.
Max was definitely struggling to stay focused during today's training session. If he could have asked to play hooky I'm sure he would have. But once we started doing our place, heel, down and recall exercises he gave it some effort. Sadie was actually more attentive than Max today, although they both did really well with their place. At one point Kinsey had to leave to greet a grooming customer and I asked both dogs to stay in place for the duration of the time she was gone. Both of them had no problem! Excellent work, Max and Sadie!
