Maya was rather peppy to be here today, considering her big brother and best friend Rocky did not join her. She was rather spunky and excited to get out into the yard and enjoy an independent day. At first, she sniffed around and said hello to all her group mates. There weren’t too many other spit fire dogs outdoors with her today, so I sent Finnigan into the yard knowing he would spice things up. Maya was instantly drawn to her doodle friend, bolting towards him with her ears perked and tail wagging. It took half a second for the pair to sniff one another and then play bow. The games were instant and they didn’t end until it was time to return indoors. Maya and Finn loved jumping all over one another, alternating pawing at each other and toppling the other one to the ground. They also had a good time racing around the yard with company of group mate Benji. Maya was such a bundle of energy today, I was surprised to see her not bothered by the frigid temperatures. Finnigan really did a great job of getting her playful.

Jemma had an absolute ball today! She was such a hot topic during groups, drawing all the attention to herself by plopping on the ground and rolling on her back whenever a new friend came to say hello. Jemma was especially fond of her usual friend, Finnigan. These two love to roll around in the snow together, gnawing on each others necks and mouthing at one another’s ears. All this silly fun got the attention of Hayley who was soon pouncing all over Jemma. Jemma loved dancing around with her shepherd friend Hayley while bum bumping her pal Finn. This commotion got Bentley’s attention and the usual quiet independent guy was soon all over Jemma. Jemma loved Bentley so much, it was such an odd pair but great fun to watch. They ran all around the yard together, stopping only to pounce on one another. Their games we fast and agile as they darted in circles around the agility tunnel and dodged all the other dogs in the group. Jemma never stopped playing today. When she finally came back indoors she could barely keep her eyes open long enough to eat her food before passing out for a snooze.

Spencer was so much fun today I had a great time supervising his play group. This fresh snow really sparked his interest today, he was constantly bathing himself in the powder by rolling around and gobbling it up. Spencer could not have been happier to meet up with his great friend, Kyah. For whatever reason, these two always find one another and play around. Spencer and Kyah had a great boxing match, tossing each other around by pawing at each other and nudging one another down to the ground. Their intense games got the attention of Justice and Hayley, soon turning their duo into a great foursome. They had a lot of fun dancing around as a team. Spencer was distracted by a ball flying by, leaving his friends for the red rubber toy. He was quick on his feet and got to it before his competitor, Charly. We had a good time playing a couple rounds of fetch, which Spencer and Charly alternated winning. In the end, Spencer snatched the ball and lay down with it to chew on for a bit. Right before it was time to head back in, Spencer went on a tare around the yard flying in the wind with all his friends hot on his heels. He couldn’t have had a better day!

Max and Sadie were super excited to get out in the yard, at first. They did a couple fast tares around the yard as usual. Pulling at one another’s necks and ears, tossing each other around the yard. As they continued to race and run around, they soon realized it was very windy and cold! The pair made their way to my side and began weaving between my legs and around my back looking for some extra cuddles and warmth. I was happy to have them keeping me warm as we stood in the arctic tundra. After lots of cuddles, Sadie broke off from me to investigate a rope toy that was wet yesterday and now frozen to the ground. Max saw her digging and gnawing at this treasure and made his way over to her. The pair tried so hard to get it off the ground. I even gave it a couple kicks and pulls but nothing would make it budge. Sadie continued to dig and dig, but had no luck. Max ended up distracting her, leading her around the yard for a couple more chases before they sat by the door asking to head into their warm kennel and cozy beds.

It was an entertaining morning spent with some of my favourite daycare pals; they always know how to keep things interesting, that’s for sure! Starting off with sweet sister ladies Issy and Mocha, who are always the perfect calm pair to add to any group. But because they are so calm in nature, they always seem to be the target of everyone’s attention, especially when they are just trying to have a leisurely stroll! Nyxx, our Husky pal especially loves Issy and could follow her endlessly all morning long if he could, just trying to get a playful rise out of her. Although Issy pretends she doesn’t like the attention, you can clearly see that she does. Always circling back around just waiting to see if Nyxx will notice! It’s so funny to see her playful side come out with the young fellow; she definitely still has it in her! Mocha strolled out into the agility yard and once she saw that the coast was clear she had herself one of her infamous stretches before taking a seat in the snow to watch the action surrounding her. Her head whipped back and forth as she tried to keep her eyes on Teddy who was running circles around her. Once things got too exciting between Nyxx, Teddy and Hobart, Mocha took that as her cue to leave and find her usual spot by the door, less wind there as well!

Teddy was just bursting at the seams with energy today and was happy to start his morning off with a trail walk with pals Spencer and Buddy to burn off that energy before heading out with his group. But he had just as much spunk in him as this morning and was ready to play. He saw that Nyxx found the rope toy and was happily chewing away on his own but Teddy thought this would be the perfect opportunity to taunt him and see if he could catch him. Straight into herding mode he went and started running circles around him. It wasn’t long before Nyxx left his rope toy to chase him, his plan worked perfectly! All this commotion got the attention of Hobart who was off exploring on his own. We all know how much Hobart loves a good play with his newly found friend Nyxx and didn’t resist running over. By that point Teddy was already off on another mission to taunt Golden friends, Molly and Tucker. Hobart took the opportunity to hang out with Nyxx and see if he could get a wrestle out of him! But when Nyxx went back to chewing on the rope toy, Hobart decided to keep ladies Mocha and Issy come company up front out of the wind, a true gentleman that one is!
