Tic Tac was in a great mood today, and she couldn’t wait to see all of her friends in the yard. As soon as I opened her kennel she scampered towards the door. Once everybody had made it outside, Tic Tac wandered around to say hello to each dog. She found Xiao Bao quite interesting and gave him a thorough sniff, deciding to follow him around the yard for a bit. They ended up in the far yard, exploring the snow side by side. After having investigated most of the area, Tic Tac trotted back to the rest of the group to continue her greetings. This time she hung around with me for a while and enjoyed some cuddles. She always seems a tiny bit shy at first, but once I start petting her, she is more than happy to snuggle with me. Tic Tac stuck with me like a shadow and was right on my heels as I walked around the yard. We stopped by to see what Julie was up to, and she attempted to play with Tic Tac by poking her with her nose and barking, though this mostly just confused Tic Tac. She gave Julie a friendly sniff and then went trotting off. Tic Tac wandered over to where Isis and Shelby were running around like crazy. After saying hello to the two of them, they invited her to join them, although Tic Tac was content to sit back and watch them play instead. Her friend Kado showed up to keep her company. They soon set out to explore a different section of the yard and sniffed around by the picnic table for some time, until Tic Tac decided she wanted more cuddles. Both of them ran over to see me. While I was petting Tic Tac, Xiao Bao suddenly appeared at my feet. The three dogs snuggled for a bit longer and then returned to their expedition around the yard, with Tic Tac happily taking the lead.
Fez and Rex, as usual, were so excited when it was their group’s turn to go outside. Rex practically flew out of his kennel and bounced down the hallway with Fez following him at a more reasonable pace. Once outside, Fez headed to the nearest fence where he started to sniff around. Rex hopped over to see if he smelled anything interesting. The two boys stuck together for a couple of minutes while a few more dogs were joining them in the yard and everybody was stretching and wandering around. Fez continued his thorough investigation of the snow, while Rex had quickly checked out everything and was already racing towards the agility yard. He soon had Jynxx and Skie right on his tail. The three of them trotted a lap of the yard together before splitting up to start exploring again. While I was watching them, Fez had finished sniffing in the main yard and ambled over to see if I wanted to cuddle. Of course I was happy to snuggle with him and he enjoyed a nice back rub, tail wagging and tongue hanging out. Rex, on the other hand, wasn’t in the mood for a slow, relaxing day and was searching the snow for a toy. Fez wandered off to say hello to Isis, so I headed over to help Rex with his search. I found him the jolly ball and he was eager to chase it, although he couldn’t figure out how to pick it up, and soon he was on the hunt for something else. Eventually Rex decided to play with Skie instead. The two dogs bounced around with each for a bit, until Fez walked over to see what they were up to, and then the three of them went for a stroll around the yard together. Fez and Skie continued to explore while Rex raced over to me. I found him a different ball to play with, and Rex had so much fun pouncing after it. The snow was sending it in all directions and it was a challenge to get his paws on it! He was nosing it around when suddenly he noticed Jynxx carrying a ring toy around. Rex decided that, of course, that toy must be better since Jynxx had it! They played a quick game of keep-away, and unfortunately for Rex, Jynxx was very light on her toes. Soon he returned to play with his ball. Fez had left Skie to her sniffing and showed up beside me again. He is such a friendly guy, and we had a great time cuddling. Rex figured he couldn’t be left out and hurried over to join us.
Max, Sadie and I had another great day today! These two waited very patiently in their kennel while I got the leashes ready. Max was sitting upright, ready to go and Sadie was lying in her comfy bed. They both sprang up once I said "Let's go" and we were off. We enjoyed our walk on the trail and afterwards, Max snuggled right into his bed. He gave Sadie a little nose nudge when she went in their kennel too and the two of them dozed off for a bit. I woke them up later when it was time to head outside. They were both super cuddly in the yard today. They made their rounds of the yard first, and Sadie made sure to lie down in her usual spot, in the corner of the yard. She also made her way to the rock, and sat there for a while. She always sits on the rock to see the whole yard. While Sadie was doing this, Max was on the other side of the yard, sniffing the only spot where the grass is showing. He came over to me looking for some pets. I pet his back and started to rub his back legs and he loved that. He whipped his head around and started to give me tons of kisses all over my face. I kept petting him and he insisted on jumping into my lap so I did my best to let him sit on my legs while I sat on the ground. It was too funny. Sadie then came and wanted in on some of this attention so she nudged her way in between Max and I, and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. I started to rub her ears and she lied down beside me. Max instantly thought that Sadie wanted to play when she came over, so he leaped up gave her a playful little bow. Sadie reluctantly accepted his invitation and they both ran across the yard. Max jumped onto Sadie and she stayed down on the ground. He knew she wasn't in the mood to play so he looked up and searched the yard for me. Once he saw me, he ran right into my legs and turned his back to me, asking for a back scratch. I looked over at Sadie while I rubbed Max's back and she was munching on some snow. She kept eating it for a few seconds and I noticed her pull her lips back and shake her head, like she got a little brain freeze! These two alternated getting attention and roaming the yard for the remaining time. Max was the first one in the door as always, but Sadie made her way slowly. Once inside, Max and Sadie both curled up on their beds. They each were facing the middle of the kennel and their faces were so close that it looked like their noses were touching, it was so cute! They each got well rested just in time for their next outing.
Chloe had so much fun on her walk this morning. She and Phoebe were having a competition of who could carry their stick for the longest. It was very cute seeing them each carrying a stick in their mouths. Sometimes Chloe would try to pick up a stick that was in the ground and she would turn all the way around the stick, trying to pick it up. Later on in the day, Chloe had a blast with her friends, all the toys and Eric, one of our volunteers! Eric was playing with all the dogs, and he was climbing into the agility tunnel. Chloe was so fascinated that he was in there. She kept pouncing on to the tunnel, trying to get him to come out, all the while still holding onto her pink rubber ball. She started off carrying the jolly-ball which seems to be her go-to toy. Eventually she picked up the smaller ball because it is easier to carry. She then kept doing circles around the tunnel, barking at Eric when he laughed at Justice, who was in the agility tunnel with him. Chloe then began to peel her head in the end, to see what they were up to. She eventually dropped her ball in the tunnel, and I could see her bum wiggling, like she was waiting for someone to throw it. Chloe then crawled into the tunnel and grabbed it back from Eric who was holding it for her. She grabbed it and then dropped it again. This time Eric threw it out of the tunnel while he was in there and she took off running after it. Chloe then stuck to her usual game of carrying her ball. Like she always does, Chloe came up to me, looking like she wanted to me play fetch with her. Each time I went to grab the ball from her, she hopped away from me. After a few failed attempts at getting the ball, I started chasing her around the yard. Chloe loved this! She loves to run and she has such a hop in her step. It was impossible to catch her but she still loved looking back and seeing me running behind her. Her little tail was wiggling so fast! We all had so much fun together today.
