Allie was very playful compared to yesterday! She must have been all rested up from her lazy day in the hammock and jumped up right away to greet me when I walked in the room. She was meowing away as I went to pet her and scratch her chin. She hopped down from the hammock and dashed over to the chair, where she rubbed her chin some more. She peeked into her neighbouring cats’ cubbies before turning her attention back to me. I tossed a toy onto the self of the cat tree and Allie wasted no time flying up the shelves to catch it. She scratched at the post for a second before climbing to the top perch. She swatted at the long brown and blue toy, loving the chase! At one point, the toy drooped forwards off her forehead and each time she turned her head, the toy turned too. She pounced each time, not realizing it was her who was controlling the toy! She’s such a funny character.

Windy is getting better and better each day that we work with her. She’s starting to get the hang of the basic commands such as sit and down, so today we worked on stay. I had Windy sit or lay down in different spots in the room and asked her to stay until I said the word “here”. She went to wander over towards the desk on the first try, but paid lots of attention to me the next few times. Windy loves her rewards, so I reminded her to be gentle when taking the treats from my hands. She’s gotten much better at that, too! Once Windy is in the zone for her training, she focuses and does a great job!

Daycare ladies were super excited to start their morning off with their usual friends in their favourite place, the best way to spend their Wednesdays if you ask them! Oakley started her morning off close to my side as she assessed the situation out in the yard. She saw some familiar faces like Husky pal Justice and silly brother duo Teddy and Kizmet, but also met gentle giant Charlie who was very interested in meeting her and Bella. Once she realized the coast was clear, off she went leaping into the yard after Koda and Justice! I thought today was going to be one of those days she stuck close to my side, but she surprised me and spent most of her morning jumping and playing! But first, a good roll in the snow, Oakley slid across the freshly fallen snow head first with her bum in the air. Taking a cue from Ted and Kiz who were off having their own rolls, our notorious snow rollers they are! Oakley then met back up with Bella and Justice at the agility tunnel, the regular meeting spot, business as usual! Bella jumped up with one paw on the tunnel and the other on Justice head and this sent Justice into a flurry, he sprinted as fast as he could to the other side of the yard knowing that the pack would follow behind and sure enough Oakley, Bella and the gang were hot on his trail! While Bella was catching up to Justice, Charlie was catching up to Bella; he simply adored Bella’s company and followed her endlessly around the yard in the pursuit to get her to play. Bella didn’t mind his company either; she loved all the extra attention she was getting from this sweet boy. Sweet he is, Charlie has been such a pleasure during his visit, and he is definitely big but very gentle and kind to all of his four-legged friends. Although somewhat shy at first, he has definitely come out of his shell these past couple of weeks and we are really starting to see his playful side come out, and boy can he play once he finds the right mate, and Bella was the one for the job today! Lots of action out in the yard today, but while pups were flying through the air after one another, there was Teddie and Kiz just off to the side rolling around in the snow in pure contentment! These two always know how to bring a smile to my face and today was no different! Once they filled their quota of snow rolls, it was time to join in on the fun and Kiz started howling in song as an invitation to the others to play. The pack ran over and Teddie and him had a good wrestle with Riley and the gang before it was time to come back in.

Tag, Maya and Finnigan started the fun in the small dog group today, it was a morning of pure entertainment for myself and the rest of the little ones as we watched them dance and wrestle across the yards. Tag was the first one to set paw on the ground and she literally flew across the yard in excitement, her whole body wiggling and wagging back and forth! She had no preference as to whom she played with, she just about literally gave every pup in that yard a playbow as an invite to play, even to little Rocky, but he said forget about it! Don’t worry Rocky, little sister Maya stepped in and chased Tag all the way into the far yard; Rocky comfortably took his seat by the door, but always had one eye on his sister in the far yard! Kouza had the same idea as Rocky, find a nice spot in the sun to rest away. But unlike Rocky, Kouza is a curious girl and decided to do some exploration of the yard, just making sure not to get in the way of the loose speed demons running around! A few cuddles in the snow later, and Kouza was ready to head back inside for an afternoons rest, she had already had her morning extra attention time and was pooped! Maya and Tag were quickly joined by rambunctious Finnigan who was just as eager to play and chased them even faster around the yard. Endlessly they ran laps around me, and little Coconut couldn’t resist the chase. Everyone was very gentle with little Coconut and was thrilled to have her company! Maya and Tag didn’t stop moving all morning long, but Finn decided to take a break so he could chew the infamous orange ring in the snow bank. If Maya and Tag got too close, he would chase them away excitedly but then returned to his spot. He was resting up because next he had a group outing with girlfriend Charly whom he spent his day wrestling in the staff room.

Macie and Sophie had free range of all the yards this morning, the perfect opportunity to run some energy out! Although Macie still loves her Husky pack Vega and Korvo, it looks like she may have switched over to the Duck Toller side because her love for little Tupper is undeniable! She immediately bonded with these two upon their arrival yesterday and even since they have been inseparable. She loves their spirited personalities. When the three of them aren’t howling in song, they are running around and wrestling in the snow. In particular, Macie adores Tupper, the smaller one of the two and it looks like they have grown an incredible bond. But she just couldn’t resist a few quick laps around the yard with Vega and Korvo the odd time, but quickly met back up with Tupper shortly after; too funny! Sophie was busy running back and forth from the front yard all the way into the agility yard with nothing but a great big smile on her face! But Sophie always has a smile on her face; it’s her fun-loving Golden nature. Speaking of Golden nature, a few rolls in the snow were in order and always a must for Sophie, you could just see her sliding across the yard face first amongst the others. Even on her trail walks will Sophie break out a roll! You would never guess the age of Sophie; she is definitely a puppy at heart and always will be.

My last group of the day was an action-packed one and definitely did not disappoint! That’s because when you mix silly daycare pal Kane and energetic pal Windy, you are surely going to be kept on your toes! Windy is a favourite amongst us, who could resist that sweet Golden face! She just has so much love to give and is always bursting with energy. Therefore a good run out in the yard with her favourite friends does just the trick to tire this playful pup out. Playful she is, and today she got her energy run out by best Shepherd pal Haley. These two wrestled together from the moment they both set paw out in the snow until it was time to come back in. They danced, they jumped, they rolled, they wrestled and boy did they ever play! I could hardly keep up with these two as they whipped by me; there were legs and arms flying all over the place in a playful fury! Every so often, Kane would join in but don’t expect him to stay long, he is always on the move and can run past you in the blink of an eye with his long deer-like legs! Windy enjoyed his company, even if just momentarily! Windy was due for a much needed rest and the next time I saw her, she was sprawled out on her bed catching a snooze. But it wouldn’t be long before she was heading back out to do it all over again, the fun never ends here!
