Spencer had a great day with us. It took him a little bit to
get playing since his group got to go out in a different yard than normal
today. There were so many smells for Spencer to investigate prior to playing.
He wandered around the yard with his nose to the ground getting comfortable
with his surroundings when all of a sudden Riley came barreling towards him
inviting him to play. He was quick to lift his head up and dodge the body
tackle. Spencer was happy to join in on the invite to play. The pair danced and
frolicked around with his hair blowing in the wind, drawing attention of other
group mates. Spencer was thrilled when his buddy Kyah came over to join in on
the fun. Rather than playing as a group Spencer left his other friends for some
one on one fun with Kyah. These two had a good time nosing around at one another
and boxing around. Their boxing quickly turned into zooming around the yard. The
other dogs were keen to join in on the race too. Spencer looks so great running
through the yard with his hair breezing behind him. He continued to run and
play with all of his group mates for the entirety of his outdoor time. He even
took a turn running through the tunnel after Vega, the puppy, today.
Zoe is such a lovely girl. I really enjoy the one on one
time I get to spend with her, and her brother, during their extra attention.
She is so calm and loving it is a great energy to be around. In the yard Zoe
has much of the same energy making her great company. Zoe enjoys following me
around asking for pets and cuddles while she explores the yard. She was
interested in a fellow group mate named Maya today. Maya is younger and has
lots of positive energy. Maya begged Zoe to play with her for ages until Zoe
finally gave in. The pair played for a very brief moment before Zoe realized she
was right in on a big play circle and decided to come back to my side. Zoe was happy to
have me give her lots of cuddles. She gave me so many wet, warm kisses which I
was rather appreciative of on this cold chilly day. Flash had an absolute blast
in the yard today. He loves the red Jolly Ball. I was surprised when he began
batting it around like a soccer ball since it is larger than him. He ended up
figuring out how to grip it in his mouth and brought it to me asking for it to
be thrown. I was pleased to play numerous rounds of fetch with Flash. He is so
fast and agile that it isn’t difficult for him to retrieve it regardless of
where the ball ends up. Flash had a good time darting around all his other
friends as well as some obstacles in the yard. Flash was happy to take a break
from fetch to goof around with a fellow Jack Russell named Rocky. These two
were a great pair. They boxed around and pawed back and forth at one another
until another group mate named Benji joined in. Flash was happy to finish his
time off in the yard by Zoe’s side doing some sibling exploring.
It is great to see Benji, it seems like it’s been a while
since I’ve last seen his adorable face. Benji was so excited to head outdoors
for his group time not long after he arrived this morning. He was so busy
sniffing the yard that he was surprised when he lifted his head and spotted a
bunch of dogs near him. He ended up doing some fast zoomies around them because
he was so excited. All his busy energy got the attention of Maya. Maya bolted
straight for him and pounced all over him asking to play. Benji was more than
happy to play around with Maya. The pair had fun standing up on their hind legs
as well as rolling around in the snow together. Benji loved all the attention
this pretty girl was giving him so he stuck by her side as they went off to
explore. As they were investigating their surroundings Benji met up with some
Jack Russels who too were keen to play. He zipped and zoomed around the yard
with them at a very fast speed, dodging the other dogs and the obstacles
throughout the yard with ease. When it was time to head back indoors Benji was
keen to curl up for a nap before his next outing.
Today was a very funny day for Kimi. She started off
enjoying her usual day, which involves relaxing in the staff room and a nice
walk with some calm friends. Her day took a turn when she was placed in a play
group with two young male dogs. For whatever reason, both boys were so
interested in Kimi. As usual, Kimi put up a big fuss sticking her nose in the
air turning away from them acting as if she was far too good for their young
behaviour. Another typical move on Kimi’s part is she was displaying some
serious mixed signals. As she was turning away and swatting at them, she was
also wagging her tail and kissing them. This got the boys very confused. Brutus
took the mixed signals a cue to move on to another friend, however Blue was more than eager to fall
for the more positive side of her behaviour. Blue was glued to Kimi’s side for
the entire duration of play time. He continued to beg her to play and give her
110% of his attention. She wasn’t opposed to all the warm attention Blue was
offering her. Despite the fact that she continued to act too good for him, she
really did enjoy his requests to play and goof around. She gave in to him on
and off for a bit, running around and boxing on and off only to keep him
interested. They played around with one another for the whole time they were
outside. Kimi was so tired when she was done outdoors that she passed right out
the moment she got back into the staff room.
Mocha had a pretty flirty day today, but in the end decided
to spend time on her own sniffing and exploring. Brutus spent the first little
bit of his time outside trying and trying to get Mocha’s attention. Mocha did
give in for a brief period, but was quick to run when she realized his size. Mocha
can be so funny with flirty boys. She also got the attention of Blue but was
also not so sure of his silly behaviour. Issy had the best day of her life with
us today. I have never seen miss Issy SO frisky. She fell in love from the
moment she got outdoors today. Brutus, the “puppy” mastiff was impossible for
her to resist. Brutus was very persistent with Issy, asking over and over for
her to play. Finally, Issy gave in my springing up on her hind legs and wrapping
her paws around his neck. In this position, she still barely matched his height.
Brutus was shocked that Issy actually wanted to play and leapt back to double
check she really did want to play. As his skin went flying in all directions
Issy got a good look at this goofy boy. She really did want to continue playing
as she flew at him looking for more. Brutus did some speedy circles around Issy
which got Issy to do some of her famous circles. The pair had so much fun frocking around the
yard together. The flirting never ended and Issy’s eyes never dimmed down. She
was so tired from all of her playing she didn’t even lift her head when I was
eating lunch today.
Max had another fun filled morning out with
his favourite rope toy in mouth of course! He could hardly wait for me to throw
it for him; he was too excited and was literally bouncing off his hind legs in
anticipation. Up he jumped into the air and snatched it up like the agile boy
he is. But Max only likes to play with the rope toy if I am interested as well,
he gets frustrated when I pay attention to another pup and drops the toy at my
feet in protest, but when I go to pick it up, he snatches it before I even have
a chance; this is his favourite game! Luckily Riley gave Max all of the
attention he could ever want for one morning. These two silly boys decided to
have a good wrestle and chase around the snowy yard. Roobee excitedly provided
the musical soundtrack in the background as these two rambunctious boys tumbled
across the yard. While the boys were having all the fun, I called Roobee over
for some girl time. She enjoyed some relaxing cuddles by my feet as we watched
the boys run back and forth!
It was a big and playful group for daycare
pals Teddy, Percy and Jemma who had an eventful morning outside to say the
least! Jemma was overwhelmed with excitement when she set paw outside and saw
all the playful pups surrounding her; hers for the choosing! She started off
with a friendly wrestle with Teddy and he was thrilled to be getting so much
attention from this sweet girl! Down Jemma went into the snow for her signature
move, such a submissive lady that one is! Next Jemma was on the move and found
friends in puppy Buddy and Husky gal Jynxx. Needless to say, Jemma was a very
busy lady this morning and will sleep well tonight! Percy was also very
interested in Husky ladies Jynxx and Skie who were just exuding playful energy
and Percy couldn’t help himself from these two beautiful ladies. Teddy on the
other hand was on the move, typical herding mode for this guy and he loved
every minute of it! He picked up on the playful energy this group was giving off
and herded everyone into a big group circle of play! I could hardly keep up
with everyone; Jemma to my right, Percy on my left with Buddy and Windy in
between and Teddy running circles around the whole pack! Percy also graciously
serenaded us in song to top it all off, I just had to sit back and enjoy the
show!
