Benji is such a character. He got right up
with one of our staff, playing lots and giving the most affectionate attention.
He brings a lot of positive energy to the group as he tries to say hello and
play with everyone he can, what a gentleman! He took a special interest today
in Finlay, who was equally excited about the mild weather and ran around the
yard chasing each other with some light wrestling. The sun was shinning and you
could tell Benji was really happy to be outside with everyone and spreading
love to not just the other dogs but the staff as well, what a good morning!
Kouza is doing great today - she got lots of
attention from our staff today, as she wasn’t into playing outside so we decided
cuddles in the sun would be perfect. Her temperament has been very calm and
easy going today, she’s making the best of Monday! She was also very impressive
in the hallways and followed our staff outside perfectly; she does know the
routine very well here. During extra attention, Kouza was really happy about
getting her vegetable snack inside her kong…what a nice treat for her. She as
well is very attached to a certain toy here, it’s a squeaky pig that oinks and
it is so cute to see Kouza act like a puppy with it.
Finlay and Olive have had so much love and
play time today. Finlay keeps Olive going and makes sure she is playing as
well, sometimes she doesn’t want to and will do her own thing in the yard like
walk around and see what the staff and other dogs are up to. Finlay during this
time will find another buddy (today was Benji) and go play and run around the
yard blowing off energy. After walks today Olive and Finlay came up to the
front with the staff to get extra attention and were playing with toys and running
around in between cuddle sessions. They both have great energies and are a
pleasure to have here.
Molly was very excited to play in the yard this
morning. Once outside she immediately
began looking for a toy to play with.
She found a Frisbee but noticed that her friend Tucker had a stuffed toy
and decided to try and get it with a game of tug-o-war. Once she managed to pry the toy away from
Tucker she began to run away from all the other dogs not letting them touch her
new treasure. One of the huskies, Justice, was able to rip the head from the toy and Molly soon began to shred the rest of
it. For the remaining time outside Molly
proudly carried the remnants of the toy around to show off to all the other
dogs what she had accomplished.
Mika has become very confident with the other dogs at the
kennel. Today a new dog came in named
Tag. Tag frequently enjoys being chased
by other dogs when playing and Mika was happy to help her out with this. They ran together all around the yard. Mika likes to take short breaks from playing
to jump up and give surprise kisses to the people outside with her. She is an extremely happy dog, so much so
that when wagging her tail her entire bum will begin to wiggle. When travelling in
and out of her kennel, Mika is very calm and listens well. She has been eating all her meals and enjoys
her treats before bed each night. Mika was happy to follow me up to the reception area for some one-on-one time this afternoon. I offered her plenty of different toys, and even a Kong with peanut butter, but Miss Mika wanted nothing but to give kisses! I sat on the floor with her and she bombarded me with tons of kisses, all with her bum wiggling with excitement. I gave Mika a quick brush with the "zoom groom" brush, until Katie entered the room. Mika was even happier now that she had two people to give kisses to! What a sweet girl.
Finn is one of the favourite dogs that comes in for
daycare. He is always happy and ready to
play. Finn had a great time on his trail
walk with his golden retriever friend named Molly. When Finn first went outside for group play he
found an orange Frisbee and was very excited to play with it. However, he was so interested in the toy he
did not want to play with the other dogs.
After he got his fill of the Frisbee he began to play with two other
black dogs that are about his size named Polly and Tag. Finn is very easy going and allowed Polly and
Tag to jump on him, willingly rolling over onto his back for them. The three of them became inseparable outside
running the long distance between the two yards chasing after one another. All three of them seemed to have an unlimited
supply of energy. However once coming
inside Finn did have a quick nap to rest up for his next adventure
outside.
Tag went on her trail walk this morning with Phoebe and
Polly who are both Labrador retrievers.
The three of them tried to play together the entire walk, getting along
famously. They darted in between the
trees and in and out of the deep snow.
During group play time, Tag played with two other medium sized black dogs,
Polly and Finn. They loved to run back
and forth in the yard. Tag’s favourite
thing to do is to get other dogs to chase her around. Polly and Finn did this for a while, only
catching her a few times because Tag is extremely fast. It seems Tag is a very fitting name for her personality! Tag also enjoys jumping up
on the people playing with the dogs outside to say hello and get some
attention. She also made friends with a
bloodhound named Jake. Despite their
size difference they got along well.
Polly is a very energetic girl. She went on a trail walk with Phoebe and Tag
today, who also have energy to spare.
They played together the entire walk and enjoyed rolling in the deep
snow and sniffing all the outside smells.
Polly and Tag really hit it off on the walk and played outside during
group play as well. They seemed to be
becoming best friends very fast. Polly
likes to jump on the other dogs while playing and rarely will let others do the
same to her. A Labrador retriever named
Windy was able to get a hold of a big ice chunk and her and Polly had a game of
tug-o-war with it. This game had several
rounds as Windy would break off a new ice chunk each time the other broke. Polly listens well when entering and exiting
her kennel and comes when called in the yard.
She is a very kind girl.
