Sophie and Charlotte had yet another wonderful day today. It all started with their very first morning group. When I went to let them out, Charlotte was sitting pretty waiting for me while Sophie was still snoozing away in bed. I think Charlotte may have been worried that Sophie wasn’t going to join her for their group because she went and completely jumped on her to wake her up. As soon as this happened Sophie was definitely awake and ready to go. The two girls trotted out the door and were ready for the day to begin. Charlotte was full of beans right from the get-go and started racing laps around everyone.  Sophie was a little reluctant as soon as she felt the snow on her paws but she was soon just as excited as Charlotte and slowly followed her around for a little while. When it came to their walk, the two girls split up to each go on walks best fit for them. Sophie had a slower one-on-one walk with our volunteer Eric. She was so excited to get the special attention from him and stayed by his side for almost the entire time. However, sometimes she would follow her nose and stray off into the trees sniffing after a scent. Charlotte was on a bit of a quicker walk that she quite enjoyed. As soon as she saw me coming to get her, Charlotte was jumping up on the kennel door and could barely contain herself! Once we got outside, Charlotte greeted her new friends and raced right to the end of her leash to get going. For the most part of her walk, she was trying to move as fast as possible. Charlotte kept getting all tangled up amongst the trees as her nose led her all over the place. Every so often she’d look up at me as her leash was tangled in between every possible tree and just wait for me to help her out of her sticky situation, silly little girl. When it came to their outdoor play time, both of them had just woken up from a short nap and were once again full of energy. Each one of them walked down the hall and into the yard to greet everyone in their group. Charlotte was one of the most playful dogs in her group today. She just loved racing around in the snow and even spent half of her time rolling around in it or sniffing in it with Sophie. Once Sophie had finished greeting everyone, she came over to me for a little head massage. Afterwards, I found her and Charlotte completely covered in snow as Charlotte had been rolling around in the snow and was attempting to get Sophie to join her. After they were done in the snow, Sophie and Charlotte did what they liked to do best, sniffing around the yard for any possible thing they could find. They ended up empty handed but they definitely sniffed as long as they could. Right before the end of the group time, Charlotte had a few bursts of energy which she used to race around the yard and play tackle anyone she could find. Sophie stayed out of her path so that she wasn’t Charlotte’s play target. Instead she spent the rest of her group snuggling with me.
Charlotte was definitely more tired than usual for her extra attention time, which was quite late in the afternoon. It was wonderful to have both Sophie and Charlotte so cuddly and wanting lots of pets and some massage. Charlotte couldn't resist when Alyssa joined us in the reception area, but Sophie never moved from my side. Charlotte was also distracted when Bear started barking from the grooming room, but for the most part these two lovely ladies sat beside me, soaking up the pets and massages I was happy to give each of them.

Mylo had yet another wonderful day. During his very first morning group he was in the cuddliest mood ever. I think he may have wanted to snooze in bed for a while longer as I woke him up when I went to get him for his group time. However, after a few seconds he was ready to go outside. Once we got out, Mylo did a walk around the yard but didn’t seem to care about greeting anyone. Instead, Mylo joined me for a warm cuddle and a long head scratch. We then began his day with a fast walk with a couple of friends in the warm morning air. He wasn’t reluctant at all to go into the wide open field as it was very warm this morning. Once he saw the back forest trail he was more than ready to get going. Mylo kept stopping every so often to sniff in a bit of snow. There were even a few spots where he enjoyed stopping to rub his face and neck in the snow. Overall Mylo’s walk was very relaxing and went at a good pace. Once his walk was done, Mylo went back into his kennel to snuggle up in his bed. He was definitely excited to snooze the morning away once he got into that bed of his. Not too long after, I was already getting Mylo again to go outside for his outdoor playgroup. This time he was up and ready. He was even happy to see the other dogs in his group and gave them each a quick greeting before going off into the yard on his own. After a bit of sniffing, I went to give Mylo a back scratch. Mylo then headed off into the agility yard to sniff around. For the most part of his group he was pre-occupied with all of the new melted snow scents and spent a lot of time sniffing. However, for the rest of his group he simply sat in a warm spot on the snow and watched the rest of his group. Mylo loved seeing what all of his friends were doing at all times.
Benji was completely full of beans throughout the entire day today. I think the melting snow and warm weather must have had him in just the cheeriest of moods. Benji began his day with a wonderful long walk in the snow. I could just see the excitement on Benji’s face when I went to get him from his kennel. He was standing at his kennel door patiently waiting for me but as soon as I opened it and put his leash on, Benji nearly ran into me as he was trying to leave his kennel and get moving so fast! Silly little guy. We raced down the hallway and Benji was keeping me on my toes the entire time. There was always somewhere new that he wanted to sniff or venture so we roamed for the most part of his walk. Benji would get all tangled up in the trees as he wandered into the forest occasionally. Sometimes, Benji would have a burst of energy and race to the end of his leash, getting me to jog along with him. During his outdoor play group, Benji was just as excited to get outside and get moving. As soon as we got outside he raced into the snow and started trying to eat all of it, it was so cute! Of course afterwards he went and found his favourite friends in the yard. Benji is such a popular guy so he had to make sure to greet absolutely everyone in his group. No matter who’s in the yard he can always find someone to play with. Today his main focus was running around the yard and cuddling with me. He raced around with many friends for the most part of his group. I tried to interest him in a game of fetch as well as tug of war but he simply wanted to spend the day with his friends. Benji ended up getting involved in a ton of play tackling and for the most part he was always winning. However, at the end of his group time, Benji was a bit tired so he spent the rest of the time being cuddled by me and greeting our newest husky puppies.
Newt is such a wonderful girl. She was completely full of energy once again today which made for an interesting day. When it came time for her morning walk, Newt was up and ready to go. This morning she walked with two of her new best friends. The three of them got along right away and Newt couldn’t have been more excited to tread through the snow on the back trail. Newt spent a lot of her time at the end of her leash. She seemed to be trying to go faster than her other friends the whole time and definitely kept me on my toes. Newt was very giddy throughout the entire day, especially for her outdoor play group. When I went to get her from her kennel she was completely snuggled up on her comfy bed. However, once she opened her eyes and saw me she bounced up immediately and was ready to start playing. Throughout her play group, Newt was all over the place. Once she first went outside, she greeted all of the other dogs in the yard before coming to sit with me in the snow. Newt was quite obsessed with a bright orange Frisbee that I found in the yard for her. As soon as she saw me pick it up, Newt was right by my side and trying to get it from me as soon as she could. Newt wanted to play tug-of-war non-stop once I had first thrown the Frisbee, so she and I enjoyed playing for a little while. Once our game was over, Newt started racing around the yard and play tackling with a few different friends. She always loved coming back to me so that I would give her a good ear scratch. Sometimes I would be sitting on the ground and Newt would come right over and sit on my lap, what a cutie. Later on during her group she and I played fetch for a little while longer just before going back inside for the afternoon. Newt did a few fast laps around the yard to end off her group and was then ready for another nap.

The thawing of all the snow and melting of all the ice had Coco and Timbits very occupied today. As soon as they got outside for their morning walk, their noses were stuck to the ground. Timbits was very excited to get outside so he was bouncing all over there kennel while Coco patiently waited beside him. The walk was pretty calm because they were focused on the scents in the snow. However, towards the end, we had caught up to another dog walk and Timbits was very eager to try and meet a few new friends. This kicked up our pace a little bit so we ended of their walk with a bit of a jog. Timbits seemed as happy as ever while Coco followed along as well. When it came to their outdoor playgroup there were so many scents to uncover beneath the snow in the yard which kept their noses glued to the ground.  Whenever I called them to come over and say hi, they would both look up at me with a giant smile but quickly return to sniffing and exploring before too long. Timbits was more than happy to run around while investigating every spot in the yard. Coco did a lot of exploring but preferred to stick away from the group for a little while. However, after some time, Coco was happy to run around with a few of her group friends as she decided it was time to play fetch. She became very interested in a rope toy that we found in the yard. Coco and I played tug of war after I threw the rope toy for a little while. She was so strong while we were playing that most often times I lost. Timbits joined in as soon as he saw that Coco was running around but this was only a quick break from sniffing for Timbits. He quickly returned to digging in the snow to uncover all the great new smells beneath. At the very end of our group time, Coco and Timbits came over to see our husky puppies, Ayla and Wolf, so that they could give them an overall sniff. They also visited me for an extra snuggle and back scratch.
Storm and Nymeria met for the first time today and they instantly became best friends! Storm raced over to see Nymeria once she entered the agility yard. Their big husky group was so fun to play with. Nymeria made the first pounce at Storm, and he hopped backwards, giving her a playful stance. She chatted at him for a second and then he leaped back at her and then they were in full on wrestle mode from there on. They tumbled all over the yard and even hung out on top of the tunnel for a while. Once the other huskies joined in, it was a full on chase across the yard. Storm was right behind Nymeria and the rest of the pack was following up behind them. They raced in and out of the agility yard, each time in passing; Nymeria would zoom by me and brush right against my legs. Storm eventually stopped chasing Nymeria and then the whole pack calmed down a little bit. These two besties eventually took a break from hanging out with one another. Nymeria went to go play with Magic and Storm took an interest in Justice and Koda, who were sniffing some snow at the other end of the yard. Nymeria and Magic had a blast playing together. Nymeria was rolling all over the ground while Magic was over her and they both kept pawing at each other-it was so cute! Storm then saw these two ladies playing and decided to leap onto Magic. She stood there for a few seconds, unsure of what to do next, but then Nymeria got up off the snow and took off towards Justice. And this is where the second big game of chase broke out and lasted right up until it was time to go inside. Storm was a little reluctant to come inside after having so much fun with his friends, but Nymeria was happy to come in and cuddle with her friend Koda on a cozy cot.

Max was missing the jolly ball in the yard today! It was missing for the day and he searched everywhere for it once he got outside. Eventually he gave up, which meant more time for the two of us to cuddle! He was always right by my side in the yard today. At first he said hello to all his friends, and played a bit with Cooper. Cooper and Max get along really well and are always happy to see each other outside. Once Cooper started to play with Bruiser, Max thought it would be a good chance to come cuddle me. He sat down right at my feet and I pet his head and his tummy. His favorite place to get a good massage is on his neck and under his chin. As soon as I did that, he was leaning into my legs and then turned around and gave me a big kiss on the cheek! He scooted away and went to see his friends after that, and found Nyxx and Jynxx hanging out on the play structure. Max climbed under there too to see what was so cool and then he came right back out. Jynxx followed him out and the two of them played around the yard for a bit longer.

Henry was a big ball of energy today! Out in the yard, he was going crazy to see all his friends! At first he was leaping all over me wanting to play. I knelt down to see him and he put his paws on my shoulders and started to lick my face all over. Before I could say anything, he had already taken off and was leaping around with Molly. Molly was in the middle of searching for toys but decided to stop and play with Henry for a bit. Henry and Molly are both so cute when they play, they look like brother and sister! Henry play-fought around with Molly for a while before he started to play with Dexter. Dexter and him ran around the yard for what seemed like the longest time. Henry was always the one chasing Dexter. Henry was always throwing snow up in the air with his paws from switching direction so fast to keep up with Dexter. These two pals sure tired each other out real quick! Pretty soon after it was time to go inside and it was almost impossible to separate the two of them! They fit in an extra couple minutes of playing while Tiffani and I chased them around the yard.

Molly couldn’t find any toys in the yard today, but that gave her friends in her group to play with her nonstop! Henry was the first one to tackle Molly over and then she took that as a challenge and the two of them play-fought for a little while. Molly pawed at Henry until he would jump up and then she jumped up too and then they would take off to the other side of the yard and do the same thing there. They continued like this for a while, and then Molly took to her usual activity of rolling around in the snow. It was so nice out today and Molly loved how soft the snow had become. She was trying to burry her face into it at one point. When she looked up her face was all white and she looked adorable. Afterwards, Dexter started to play with Henry too and Molly just hung out with me for a while. She loves to cuddle inside, but outside she is all business, and her hunt for a toy began again. I ran inside and grabbed her a little green rubber ball, and when I returned outside, her face lit up and then she exploded with excitement as I threw it down the yard. It was the perfect ending to a great playtime outside with her friends!

Dexter started his day with a nice walk on the trail with some of his littler friends this morning. He led the way the entire time, stopping to sniff everything he could but continuing walking before the other two dogs could pass him. In the afternoon, Dexter went out for his main outing with the same friends from yesterday. He seems to be getting into a routine. First he explored the yard in search of new smells from the morning. After that he greeted all of his friends. Once Henry and Molly started playing, Dexter kept his distance and continued walking around the edge of the yard, sniffing as he went with his tail wagging back and forth. All of a sudden, he caught Henry in the corner of his eye and he went bounding over to him and barreled right into Henry’s face, which Henry could not have been happier about. The two of them erupted into a full on game of chase around the yard. Henry was chasing Dexter, and because Dexter is so quick and light on his paws, he kept running in circles. Dexter bumped into my legs a couple of times and immediately stopped and asked for a bum rub. I scratched his back and his back legs started to dance because he was so happy with all the attention that he was getting.

Olive had another great day staying with us here! She enjoyed her morning walk, accompanied by Mika and Charlotte. Olive is in a different group from Mika and Charlotte during the day so she was really happy to get to make new friends on her walk. These three ladies all walked very nicely together, stopping to sniff the same things. At her group time, Olive was with the same dogs that she was with yesterday and she loved it! She is always happy to prance around the yard with the other dogs. Today, Henry, Dexter and Molly were the most playful so Olive made sure to stick around them. She ran around with Henry and then came for some pets and alternated doing this for her whole group today. After a few times of running, around, she took a quick little break and layed down in the snow. She sat there, facing the sun with the breeze in her fur. She posed for some very pretty photos for me before going inside and even enjoyed a little lunchtime treat afterwards.

Khal and I had a lot of fun in the yard today! As usual, he entered the yard and bolted to the gate that we use to go out for morning walks. I told him that we weren’t going on a walk and he came running over to me looking for some attention. I pet him a couple times but then he was on the move again, heading to sniff the tunnel. He was so intrigued by something underneath it that he was trying to get his nose under it as far as he could. He ended up rolling it a bit away and he leaped up with surprise when it started to move! He is so funny. Afterwards, he explored the yard some more and then came to me for some cuddles. I gave him a good back scratch and lots of scratching behind the ears, which he loved. He was almost sitting entirely on my lap the entire time!
I was so impressed with Khal's obedience training this afternoon. Since Khal finds it challenging to concentrate while there are other dogs around, we decided to do his training at the same time as Windy's. Windy is an active, playful girl but these two wonderful dogs really proved to take their training seriously. While Alyssa worked with Windy in one part of the room, I went through all the basics with Khal...sit, down, heel, watch me, and stay. Since both he and Windy were doing so well, we moved the two dogs closer and closer to each other and did some down work pretty much side by side. This was very challenging for both dogs, but they both did really well. There was some interesting body language from Windy as she tucked her front leg in - the better to get up quickly and invite Khal to play, and Khal attempted to get closer to Windy with some of his stretches on the floor. Alyssa and I practiced again and again, eventually shortening the stay time to make sure these two hard working dogs achieved some great success.
