Boris and Tasha really enjoyed having the entire yard to themselves
today. There was so much for them to sniff and explore! Tasha really took full advantage of this, making her way around the
yard slowly, stopping to sniff everything and anything. She did a lot of
digging too. Boris was much quicker on his feet, skimming over the yard, picking
up on smells as he passed over them. After endless laps around the yard Boris
finally ran towards Tasha inviting her to play. She was more than happy to give
in to his request and the duo set off for some fast-passed laps around the yard.
Tasha led the chase with Boris hot on her heels trying hard to motivate her to
move faster. It wasn’t long before he was in the lead and Tasha was zooming
behind him trying to keep up. They ended up bouncing around the agility tunnel,
pawing at one another and growling back and forth. They kept so busy just the
two of them I don’t think they even noticed they were alone.
What a pleasure to have Sophie and Charlotte back with us. We all love them both to pieces,
and look forward to their visits. When I woke Sophie up from her nap to go
outside she had the biggest stretch ever. She moved in slow motion from her bed
to the hall and made her way out the door. Charlotte, on the other hand, bolted
out of her kennel and down the hall like lightning. She instantly made her way
into the big portion of the yard and began zooming around with the other dogs. Charlotte
couldn’t have been happier to see two other young goldens. She quickly
introduced herself and became great friends with Windy and Harvey. Charlotte
loved wrestling around with Windy. The pair were a match made in heaven. They rolled
around in the snow while mouthing at one another’s necks followed by some
serious wrestling and chasing. Harvey wasn’t far behind on this, giving
Charlotte some extra competition. While all these games were going on Sophie
was resting next to me. She had her head pushed against my side asking for lots
of pets and cuddles. Of course, she received endless amounts of attention while
all of her younger group mates were goofing around.
Every day Windy never fails to put a smile on my face. She
is so used to our everyday routine at this point, making her day to day life
very easy and enjoyable. Windy was so excited when she saw me this morning. She
zoomed out of her kennel and began looping around me in circles, only to spot
the door wide open. She then ran down the hall and out in to the yard to begin
her day of fun. Windy is really enjoying her two different groups. It provides
her with lots of friends to play with and drain her energy. Today, Windy was particularly
fond of her two new group mates Charlotte and Harvey. Both of these pups are
golden retrievers, like herself. Windy took full advantage of their similar
personalities. Windy loved to roll around with them in the snow as well as do
some intense boxing and wrestling. She is very fond of mouthing at her friends,
grasping them by their necks and wrestling them around. She continued this
throughout her entire time outdoors. When it was finally time to head in, it
took a bit of convincing that group time was over; however, when she finally did get back to her kennel, she crashed and only woke up for her next outing.
Finnigan had a hoot with his group today. He was thrilled to
meet Brutus, the Mastiff/ St. Bernard “puppy”. Brutus weighs about 150lbs and
towers over all of his friends. Despite his size and weight, he is the biggest
baby ever. Finn loved Brutus right off the bat, along with lots of his other
group mates. Finnigan kept so busy racing after Brutus, Kalum and Charlie
trying to keep them in sight, not succeeding. After Finn gave up on trying to manage
his silly behavior, he decided to join in on the fun. Finn tried his hardest to
leap up and snatch at Brutus resulting in some intense wrestling. Finn spent
his whole time outside leaping around at Brutus and racing around with Charlie
and Kalum.
It was a cold morning but that didn’t stop
the little ones from having a blast out in the yard today! It was a super-group
filled with lots of rambunctious little ones and they wasted no time getting
down into the snow to play! Little Rocky said go ahead out in the far yard to
play, I'll meet you there - not. Rocky took his usual spot by the door but
always kept one eye on his little sister Maya who was of course the life of the
party. Let's just say Rocky prefers to spend his time on their ginormous bed
inside, a bed fit for a king! Maya was off being her usual silly self. She
adored playing with little Coconut and Coconut didn’t mind the attention either
from the playful Maya. While Maya and Coconut were off playing
tag, Flash made it out to the far yard where he found the jolly-ball, a
favourite of his from yesterday. Although Flash is small and the ball is big,
he didn’t even hesitate to pick the ball up with his mouth and start running
around the yard, even though it blocked his vision! Zoe, the quieter one of the
pair, found this quite amusing and she never strays too far from her silly
brother. She has such a gentle heart and is the biggest sweetheart; I
definitely love to get my Zoe cuddles on! Another little favourite of mine,
Benji was on the move this morning. He is a busy boy and had too many friends
to play with including little Tank. Benji really took a liking to little Tank
and followed him endlessly around the yard in excitement. Benji has really been
enjoying his stay with us so far and it's just the beginning of the fun. He is
always a favourite amongst his four-legged pals. Last, but certainly not least
was daycare pal Pippin who rounded out this playful bunch and he was feeling
extra frisky today. He was excited to see that little Coconut was still here
and the two of them proceeded to jump up on their hind legs to dance, in Pippin's favorite game of lion king. But Pippin also wanted to get a wrestle in with Flash this morning, he
couldn’t resist the fun-loving energy from this guy; endless amounts of energy
from Pippin today, he never disappoints!
Mika is a newer face to us and she is such
a sweetheart! She started her morning off with a nice trail-walk so she could
meet some of her neighbors and have the chance to sniff out her surroundings!
She loved every minute of her walk and her tail was perked right up in
excitement! Next up was her group outing, where she had the chance to
meet some more new faces. Of course she was quite shy at first, but she was
paired with the perfect group because they all happily came over to say hello
and I must say she enjoyed the attention! She spent most of her time close to
my feet for the first bit where she enjoyed some extra head rubs and had a
front row seat to the playful chaos unfolding in the yard. Luckily, big-boy
Dragon the Berner kept her company, and she appreciated having her very own
life-sized teddy bear! When I say playful chaos, I was referring to the group
play-between rambunctious boys Riley, Max, Cooper and Barley; boys will be
boys! Max was so occupied by his new friends that he didn’t even care to play
with his favourite rope toy! He would much rather chase Riley and Cooper the
lab who was off in the lead! Riley had such a fun morning with his buddies and
he really ran himself tired today. He was due for an afternoons nap after all
the playing he did. Roobee herself was up to her usual antics, herding the pack
and howling in song. She was extra excited today to see her brother so playful
and she really fed off his energy. But there is always time for a good roll in
the snow, and just when she thought no one was watching, there she was rolling
around on her back in the snow in pure contentment. A quick rest for these two,
then the fun continued for their extra attention time up front. That means some
special one-on-one time to play with their favourite toys and enjoy some extra
cuddles!
Dynamic duo Max and Sadie were back for
daycare today after a week away and boy were they excited! Even more excited
than usual, if that’s even possible! Max could hardly perform a sit command
without his whole body wiggling in anticipation of flying out the door. Finally he
was free to run and play, and Sadie wasn’t far behind. It was a cold morning,
but Sadie our Polar Bear of course didn’t mind. Sadie sniffed that yard out
from top to bottom as if she had never set paw out there before. I guess there
were a lot of new smells from her week away! But Max didn’t have patience for
her to explore today, he wanted to play and he wanted to play now. He leaped
towards her and started to wrestle, that’s my cue to step to the side because
once they get going, they are like two bulls in a China shop, speed demons on
the loose! After a good play outside, they were ready to come in for their
afternoon snoozes on their cloud-like beds, time to rest before they headed
back out to do it all over again!
