Coco and Timbits seemed happy to be back on this sunny Monday morning! After their walk with Leah and a new daycare friend named Toast, Coco and Timbits waited patiently for their first group play time of the day. They started out by following their little hound noses around the yard, taking in all of the smells left from our weekend guests. Coco found some particularly good smells in the corner of the fence, and spent a good few minutes burying her face there. When she looked up, her little face was all sparkly with snow! It made for a couple of cute pictures. Meanwhile, Timbits was on the other side of the yard, also following his nose and the pawprints in the snow. After some good, thorough sniffing and exploring, Coco and Timbits were ready to play! Timbits came across a ball and scooped it up immediately, and took off running with it. I went and grabbed it from him, and he play bowed to me. I threw the ball for Timbits a few times until he stopped bringing it back to me. Little friend Coconut started tagging along as Timbits ran, so he decided to leave the ball and have some play time with her. Coco saw Timbits playing from across the yard and left her sniffing for later. She bolted as fast as her feet would carry her, pouncing on her brother at full speed. Coco and Timbits spent most of the rest of their group time wrestling and rolling around together. They always have fun playing with their friends, but Coco and Timbits absolutely love to play together!

It was absolutely lovely to meet our new friend, Toast today! He started off his morning with a walk out on the trail with two little beagle friends named Coco and Timbits, and led by Leah. Toast walked along, eagerly sniffing all of the new and interesting smells. He followed the trail and his nose all the way back to the yard and into his kennel until group time came around. This little guy didn't wait a second before running up to all of the dogs in the yard to say hello. His cute little Corgi bum wiggled with excitement with each new friend. Toast took a turn to play with just about all of our small dog guests during his group. First up was little Coconut, who took an instant liking to Toast and his happy, outgoing personality. She playbowed to her new friend, and he started to hop around, too, loving her energy. Toast and Coconut ran all around the yard together until they bumped into another friend, Rocky the Jack Russell. Rocky and Toast were another match made in heaven, and spent lots of time wrestling around in the snow together. Eventually, Rocky decided to take a break from playing and Toast moved on to find the next new friend. That friend was actually two friends, Coco and Timbits the beagles, who Toast walked with earlier in the morning. Timbits chased Toast around the yard with Coco following close behind. A few other dogs joined in the fun as they zigged and zagged around, and eventually back inside for a little snooze before afternoon groups.

Tanner has been such a playful boy lately, and today was no exception! He was eager to burn off some energy from the moment he arrived this morning. After going out on the trail with Tiffani, Tanner hung out in the staff room until it was his turn to head out for groups. Tanner's group was made up of some fun and playful dogs, which was a great match for his bouncy energy. Tanner started off by saying hello to me, rubbing his head against my leg and asking for some pets. I was of course happy to give him some ear rubs and back scratches, which got him feeling bouncy and ready to play. First, Tanner met up with Windy, a young and playful Golden Retriever. These two ran laps and laps around the yard as fast as they possibly could. Buddy the Bernese soon joined in the fun and the running continued. Merida, Nyxx and Bentley were next to join in, and almost the whole group was running together! The last friend to join the party was Finnigan, who had previously been very busy chewing on an antler, then a ball, and back to the antler. Finnigan wanted to play so badly but couldn't leave his toys behind just yet. So, he took his ball along for the run, chasing the other dogs around, all while holding on to his special toy. After chasing each other around as a group, the dogs started to split off into play pairs. Tanner took off to continue his chase with Windy, Merida and Nyxx, while Finnigan and Buddy started up a wrestling match. These two had an absolute blast rolling around in the snow, turning their black fur white with fresh powder. This group had an absolute blast, and it took a bit of convincing to get them all inside when it came time for the play to end!

I was so excited to arrive after my weekend off and see that Riley and Roobee are staying with us. I love this pair so much. The duo was happy to head out in the yard for a morning of fun. Roobee was sure to chat away to me, letting me know exactly how she was feeling. We had a good conversation back and forth with lots of head tilts, whines, and barks included. After Roobee settled down, she lay down for a belly rub right in the middle of the yard. The other dogs were too busy playing to notice, which gave her lots of time to accept all my love and attention. Meanwhile, Riley was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. He was thrilled to be part of such a fun filled group. Riley loved Blue, a young chocolate lab. The pair danced and pranced around with big smiles on their faces play bowing back and forth. After some games with Blue he met up with Max who was also a very happy go lucky dog. Max and Riley raced and race around the yard at very high speeds. Riley is very speedy and agile, darting around all the other dogs and obstacles with ease in order to keep up to his buddy Max. After lots of laps around the yard, Blue joined in and the three set of for endless fun. It wasn’t long before Brutus, the mastiff “puppy” joined in too. It took Riley a little bit of time to get used to this giant guy. He is a gentle giant, which Riley soon realized. Riley ended up playing around with these three young and fun pups until it was time to come in.

Max is always so much fun to have stay with us. We had a great walk this morning with two other friends. The three of them lead me along the path with their noses glued to the ground sniffing all the smells left behind from previous dogs. Max was the leader for most of the walk, marching as fast as he could ahead of all of us. Max took his time to settle into the yard today. He was sure to investigate the whole yard before getting involved in games. When he was finally comfortable with his surroundings he met up with Riley and Blue, two happy outgoing boys. Max was quick to begin play bowing and dancing and prancing around them. As soon as Blue spitted his cues to play, he was all over him. Blue and Max were adorable romping around, with Riley close by. After some fun wrestling, Max set off on a mad tare around the yard. He was eager to be chased, and was thrilled when Riley stuck close behind. With Riley hot on his heels, Max bolted all around the yard like a mad man. He drained so much of his energy by looping in circles around the yard over and over. After taking a break and catching his breathe, Max returned to his pals Blue and Riley as well as his new friend Brutus for some more play time. He was also happy to meet up with me for some pets and cuddles before heading back indoors.
